Evaluation Question 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Research
During the pre production research process we used various different resources. One key
resource being IMDB helping us find out more regarding similar genre’s to our film, we also
used rotten tomatoes to find out about which kind of films do best regarding plot and genre.
Furthermore, we used various search engines such as YouTube and Google in order to help
us gain a more developed understand and key knowledge associated with psychological
thrillers and the codes and convections used within the genre. Finally, we used blogger and
slide share to be able to reflect our own understanding of psychological thrillers and upload
our work in an organised fashion for easy access.
Planning
Within the planning for our film we had to create various different plans to help make our
film easier to produce. Following a set plan made the production less time consuming as
well as avoid any confusion. However, we used our plans as more of a draft which would
could tweak and change as we went along if that’s what we felt was best. To produce our
script we used celtex because this was the fastest, easiest, effective and cheap method of
script making. Also we used social networking sites in order to get more people to fill out our
questionnaire. Furthermore, we used a word template to help us create a shot list and risk
assessment, which once again was easy to create due to a pre made template and we had
pre established knowledge of different shots/angles and safety hazards.
Production
During the production process of our film we used a Panasonic HC V270 camera to film,
which was ideal because the footage came out professional and high definition creating a
better experience for the viewer as well as allowing us to shoot a wide range of shots. We
also used a tripod to keep the camera steady and level. However, an issue we faced that
made the filming process slightly longer was the fact we only had access to one camera
therefore we had to film scenes repeatedly but in different angles. To be able to edit our
footage we used adobe premier pro which was a useful editing tool. At the beginning of
the editing process it took longer than expected because we were not used to using such
professional software however , the more we edited the more easier it became and the
more confident we got. Adobe Premier Pro was an efficient, cheap and easy way to edit
our film once understood the basics of how it worked.
