1. Evaluation
How didplanninghelpinthe productionstage?
Planninghelpedthe production of ourTV Advertisementbecause itgave usa guide onhow to
structure,produce andfilmthe advert. We dida mindmapoutliningwhatwe are doing,ascript to
showwhatwe are doingwithshottypesto make the advertlookeffective,whatthe actorsare doing
and dialogue aswell asa storyboardtogive an ideaonwhat the advertmay looklike. We alsoused
a stepoutline tobulletpointwhatwill happeninthe sequenceswe are filmingaswell asashot list
to showhowwe are breakingdownourscene intoseparate shots. The original scriptIproducedwas
too longso I cut outsome dialogue.
What was yourindividualcontributiontoplanning,production,andpost-production?
I wrote the script forthe film,completedastoryboardandcontributedtips/ideasacrossthe whole
thing.Charlie andHarry tippedinsome ideasforthe scriptand storyboardaswell.Iplannedtouse
my iPhone 6S Plus withProCam 3 app on 4K 30FPS camera settingto film,howeverthatpartdidn’t
go to plansince I wasn’tpresentwhenfilmingtookplace.
Post-production:Me editingthe filmwithPremiere Elements13.0 usingcuttingtechniques,audio
such as musicand myvoiceover.
How have youmade effectiveuse of the technical elements?
We plannedtouse an establishingshotat the start of the filmwhichturnedintoa wide shot. A low
angle shot came inlaterto showthe runnercrouchingdowninthe start position withambient
sound of a gunshot and hip-hopmusic (non-diegetic) fadinginafter. Slowmotion wouldbe usedto
showthe runnerfinishingandjumpstoa lowangle close-upof the shoes – shallow focusstill image
with narrative. We alsohadmedium/high-keylightingbasedonnatural daylight.
What do youneedto improve uponbefore youbeginyourA2Productionwork?
Camerawork andfilmingdates needtobe improved definitely.Charlie andHarrydecidedtofilm
portraitinsteadof landscape justtofitthe shoesin.Theyshouldhave steppedbackmore to fitmore
inframe.The audioandvideoqualitywasdegradeddue the videobeingsentfroma6S to a 5S since
the videowill be scaledtofitthe screen’sresolution –the resolutionona 5S is 1136x640 whilstthe
6S is 1334x750 – my 6S Plusis 1920x1080, whichis all-roundabetterresolutionand whatwe
plannedto filmwith due to the largerviewfinder(the phone’sscreen),OpticalImage Stabilisationas
well asthe 4K videowhichthe regular6Shas as well. I’mnothere toslag anyone off orcause
trouble,butI couldn’tcontrol the situationasIwas nevercontactedbyCharlie orHarry to filmwith
them– theyessentiallyfilmedbehindmybackand expectedme toeditthe recordingsbecause none
of themknewhoworeventriedtoattempt.If a professional directorwithahighreputationwas
givena badfilmor itdidnot meetwhathe envisioned,he wouldeitherstartfromfreshor abandon
the projectstraightaway.
