2. LYRICS
It's been such a long time coming
I'd thought you'd understand
That's over, hate of the last
Will be joining in the sand
But it's simple you were wrong
You must have known that we didn't not belong
I know you thought I'd sold my soul
But you never told me to my face
I just had to let you go
And blow this shit away
Here we go again
I know you thought I'd sold my soul
But you never told me to my face
I just had to let you go
And blow this shit away
Here we go again
‘It's been such a long time coming, I'd thought you'd understand’, This possibly relating to
the imminent inevitability of them changing the genre of music they usually make slightly.
And that they hoped their fans and other people would understand.
‘That's over, hate of the last. Will be joining in the sand’, This meaning that they’ve
dropped their old style, and is out of the way and they no longer want to be apart of it.
Also ‘joining in the sand’ could be meaning a fight in a literal sense like in the video so
having a double meaning.
From first hearing the song I presumed it was aimed at their ‘critics’.
‘But it's simple you were wrong’
In my opinion this could be relating to their change in genre and the fact they have
criticised for changing from just drum and bass to drum and bass with rock.
This song could be said to be making a statement.
Also lashing out at the critics with them only assuming they were going to stay and do
one thing.
‘I know you thought I'd sold my soul’, could be relating to people claiming their only
making their music for the money, because of their style change, not for the fans (sold
out). The band responded saying if they kept doing the same music again then surely that
would mean they’re sold out.
For the instrumental parts throughout this could be used to showcase their new sounds
and to show it off to the critics.
With the repetition that was for the radio edit.
