1. WEEKEND REHEARSAL
The aim for the weekend was to rehearse the whole
performance with the band being present.
We started the rehearsal at 9:30am on the Saturday
and began by doing a vocal warm up. We started with
’Chicken Tikka, Mango Chuckey and a Pint of Larger”
this is to help us with diction. Then we moved on to do
“Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and this was to warm
up our vocal range. Once we had done the warm ups
we moved on to run the whole musical through as an
choir with the band for the first time. This run through
went good there were a few patchy section but this
was because we had never done the music with the
band. We only did act 1 of Les Miserables because we
needed to move on to do a run of the performance.
Once we had run the music with the band we moved
on to run the performance slowly with the band and
staging. We started with act 2 because we only had
time to run act 1 as and choir with the band. Whilst
doing the act 2 run we find a few problems that we
dealt with after we had ran the whole of act 2. We had
to run the wedding scene again to make sure the we all
had the choreography correct and made sure we were
all doing the same thing at the same time.
Then we moved on to run act 1 all the way through
and let the director and choreographer make notes to
improve the performance. There were several notes
that then we dealt with and then made sure we were all
confident with the changes if any were made. This was
a strength for me as I found making changes easy and
then putting them into action. This was all we had time
for on the Saturday because the changes took longer
to adjust.
2. WEEKEND REHEARSAL
We started the rehearsal at 9:30am on the Sunday
and began by doing the same vocal warm ups we
did on the Saturday. Then we were given an hour to
get ready to do a full dress run. For the dress run we
had to have majority of our costumes and makeup
and hair done how it is going to be on the show
nights.
Once we started our dress rehearsal we didn't stop
for anything. The director and choreography made
nots throughout the whole rehearsal to then give
back to us once the performance we finished. When
we finished we went through all the notes. There
was a lot of notes but they were mainly for the
principle cast or the whole cast. Then the changes
were made and we rehearsed the sections that we
made changes too. This took up most of the day
and once we had finished we ran through any
sections of the performance that people were
finding different or section that were changed.
Strengths: My strengths were being able to take on
board the notes and make the changes that I was
being told to make.
Weakness: My weaknesses were being able to make
changes to my vocals and I struggled to sing all the
way through the performance.
Improvements: To improve I will work on how I sing
each section and I will practice signing through the
whole performance to make sure I have the vocal
ability to sing the whole performance.
