LES MISERABLE REHEARSAL 2
For these rehearsal’s we began to stage One Day More. The staging of One Day
More is quite easy but there is a lot of people to arrange on stage. To start the
dance chorographer place the main characters on stage where they are
needed. This consisted of Marius, Epione, Cosette and Jean Valjean being
placed on the stage as if they are placed in 3 different locations. This then went
into the bit where Cosette and Marius join together in the middle of the stage.
After this Enrolas runs through and all the student (chorus members) follow
through and greet each other. Then we sing on the words ‘the time is now the
day is here’. After these words we continue greeting each other but this time in
slow motion until the second time of Jean Valjean singing ‘one day more’ then
we go back to normal speed and use this to travel to our new formation. This
was all we had time for before then end of this rehearsal but the next rehearsal
we continued with this.
During the next rehearsal we add the walking after we have got to our
formation. The first step of walks is stepping to the side and dragging the other
foot in whilst the arms are swinging across the body. Then we stop whilst we
sing the next set of chorus lines. After that we start doing the box step
marching on the stop after Jean Valjean sings ’one day more’ . Then we do this
marching for 36 counts and stop to sing the last section of the song, once we
start singing the the last word we begin the walking for the last time and we do
12 counts of the box step then 4 counts marching forward to finish the
choreography with a arm punch into the air.
In this rehearsal we ran through One Day More, and learnt Lovely Ladies. To
begin we ran One Day More to make sure we didn't’t forgot the
choreography or the harmonies in the song. After that all the girls in The
Docks scene when and learnt the song Lovely Ladies. We ran through the
whole song to see who knew it then we worked on the diction of the words
in Lovely Ladies. For example, we made it that instead of saying Lovely
Ladies we said “lavely ladies”. We did this for a few more words in the song,
then we ran it again with them changes. This time it sounded more ruff and
‘seductive’ when it was sang. This meant that we had improved on the
character through the song.
Strengths: My strengths for this rehearsal were being able to pick up the
choreography and being able to adapt the choreography to work around the
staging when performing.
Weakness: My weakness was being able to sing the right part of the song and
in the right key. This was made harder because I was having to sing and dance
at the same time.
My Improvements: From this workshop I will a work on being able to sing and
do the choreography. To achieve this I will work on doing the choreography
with the sing and working on making sure I get the right notes. To make sure I

Les Miserable Second Rehearsal

  • 1. LES MISERABLE REHEARSAL 2 For these rehearsal’s we began to stage One Day More. The staging of One Day More is quite easy but there is a lot of people to arrange on stage. To start the dance chorographer place the main characters on stage where they are needed. This consisted of Marius, Epione, Cosette and Jean Valjean being placed on the stage as if they are placed in 3 different locations. This then went into the bit where Cosette and Marius join together in the middle of the stage. After this Enrolas runs through and all the student (chorus members) follow through and greet each other. Then we sing on the words ‘the time is now the day is here’. After these words we continue greeting each other but this time in slow motion until the second time of Jean Valjean singing ‘one day more’ then we go back to normal speed and use this to travel to our new formation. This was all we had time for before then end of this rehearsal but the next rehearsal we continued with this. During the next rehearsal we add the walking after we have got to our formation. The first step of walks is stepping to the side and dragging the other foot in whilst the arms are swinging across the body. Then we stop whilst we sing the next set of chorus lines. After that we start doing the box step marching on the stop after Jean Valjean sings ’one day more’ . Then we do this marching for 36 counts and stop to sing the last section of the song, once we start singing the the last word we begin the walking for the last time and we do 12 counts of the box step then 4 counts marching forward to finish the choreography with a arm punch into the air. In this rehearsal we ran through One Day More, and learnt Lovely Ladies. To begin we ran One Day More to make sure we didn't’t forgot the choreography or the harmonies in the song. After that all the girls in The Docks scene when and learnt the song Lovely Ladies. We ran through the whole song to see who knew it then we worked on the diction of the words in Lovely Ladies. For example, we made it that instead of saying Lovely Ladies we said “lavely ladies”. We did this for a few more words in the song, then we ran it again with them changes. This time it sounded more ruff and ‘seductive’ when it was sang. This meant that we had improved on the character through the song. Strengths: My strengths for this rehearsal were being able to pick up the choreography and being able to adapt the choreography to work around the staging when performing. Weakness: My weakness was being able to sing the right part of the song and in the right key. This was made harder because I was having to sing and dance at the same time. My Improvements: From this workshop I will a work on being able to sing and do the choreography. To achieve this I will work on doing the choreography with the sing and working on making sure I get the right notes. To make sure I
