1. LES MISERABLE REHEARSAL
To start the rehearsal we split into group and one went with Mrs Turner
and staged turning, the others went with Mr Sluman and staged Look
Down. I was staging Turning and we started by walking into places on
separate counts. Once we were in position we stood until the chorus
starts. Then we did a syncopated step turn moving round in a circle. We
did this four times then did a cross turn in canon around the circle. Then
we walked into a formation that looks like a cross. I found this easy due
to my background in dancing and being able to pick up choreography
quickly. Then we ran One Day more again to make sure we definitely had
the choreography correct.
Next we moved on to staging the Wedding Scene and learning the waltz.
To begin with we were put with our partners and learnt how to do the
waltz. The waltz conceded of doing a set of three steps side by side. We
started by doing this on the spot then we developed it to turn on the
spot, and finally developed it to be turn and travel. Once we had learnt
the steps we then added some other simple traditional steps to the
choreography. Once we had choreographed the movement we then
staged the movement. Staging the movement made the choreography
slightly tricky because we were having to think about the positioning as
well as the choreography. This meant that the we had to work as a team
to make the choreography and staging work.
Strengths: My strengths within this rehearsal was being able to learn the
choreography quick and then also help the others people who were
struggling to learn the choreography.
Weakness: My weakness within this rehearsal was being able to keep the
singing going whilst doing the choreography and be able to key in the
right note whilst dancing in Turning.
Improve: To improve I will work on doing the choreography whilst
singing the song and practice this with others so I can make sure that my
singing is in the correct note.
