5. LONG TERM TAREGTS
Look at your initial skills audit and set yourself a long term SMART target for acting, dancing,
singing and one other from the initial skills audit sub headings.
SMART TARGETS - Long Term target no. 1 ON ACTING SKILLS
Specific EXACTLY what is it
you want to
achieve (state:
which, who, what,
where, when, why,)
I need to improve my ability to multi role
because throughout Les Miserable I will be
playing main ensemble roles. These roles
could be close together meaning I will have to
quickly swap between characters. To know my
characters, I will analyse them individual so I
know exactly what to do for which character.
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that
your target has
been met?
I will measure this by videoing myself
practising the characters and keep asking my
teachers for advice on how to improve the
character and the change between characters.
Also, I will keep note of all the advice my
teachers give so I can continuously improve.
Achievable How will you
ensure this is in
your ability? Are
there specific
resources that can
assist you? Can it
be done at all?
This will be achievable by keeping tracking of
all the notes I am giving on each character and
then continuously practising to improve the
change between character. Making it
noticeable to the audience will come when I
know each character individual.
Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how
is it realistic?
This is a realistic target because it will
challenge my acting skills but will be realistic
because I will work hard to develop the
characterisation.
Time frame Clearly specifies
target dates,
review dates. It will
give a feasible
deadline and a
reason.
I want to increase on this skills by the February
Showcase, because this is when we showcase
our skills and developments. Also, this gives
me a decent amount of time to develop my
skills.
6. Review of this SMART target
Have you achieved it? How did you achieve it? When did you achieve it? What difference
has it made to you as an actor?
SMART TARGETS - Long Term target 2 ON DANCE SKILLS
Specific EXACTLY what is it
you want to
achieve (state:
which, who, what,
where, when, why,)
I need to improve on keeping my character
through my movement. Throughout simple
movement I lose character and this means
that then my movements don’t show the same
meaning as before.
Also, I want to develop my leadership skills by
taking more a leader role in the show Les
Miserable. This will also mean my confidence
skills will develop.
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that
your target has
been met?
I will measure this by videoing myself doing
simple dance routines with a set character.
This will allow myself to watch them back and
then find when I drop my character and figure
out why.
Also, I will measure this by taking more of a
part in the school show by teaching the dance
sections and helping choreograph.
Achievable How will you
ensure this is in
your ability? Are
there specific
resources that can
assist you? Can it
be done at all?
This will be achievable by keeping track of my
development by making notes of what I do
each time I do something towards my targets.
I will also make sure that I am getting help
when with what I need it to achieve my target.
7. Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how
is it realistic?
This is a realistic target because I have a long
time to improve these skills because they are
challenging but more mental challenging.
Time frame Clearly specifies
target dates,
review dates. It will
give a feasible
deadline and a
reason.
I want to increase on this skills by the February
Showcase, because this is when we showcase
our skills and developments. Also, this gives
me a decent amount of time to develop my
skills.
Review of this SMART target
Have you achieved it? How did you achieve it? When did you achieve it? What difference
has it made to you as an actor?
8. SMART TARGETS - Long Term target 3 ON SINGING SKILLS
Specific EXACTLY what is it
you want to
achieve (state:
which, who, what,
where, when, why,)
I need to improve on characterisation when
singing because throughout Les Miserable
all the songs are characterised and there
isn’t any spoken acting.
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that
your target has
been met?
I will measure this by videoing myself
signing to see if the character I am trying to
portray is correct, and getting my teacher to
look every 2 weeks and see if my
characterisation is improving.
Achievable How will you
ensure this is in
your ability? Are
there specific
resources that can
assist you? Can it
be done at all?
This will be achievable by continuously
practicing the characterisation. This will
allow me to develop my skills and to make
sure I know what I do each time I will make
notes of the improvements I make each
time.
Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how
is it realistic?
This is a realistic target because I have
plenty of time to continuously rehearse the
characterisation.
Time frame Clearly specifies
target dates,
review dates. It will
give a feasible
deadline and a
reason.
I want to increase on this skills by the
February Showcase, because this is when
we showcase our skills and developments.
Also, this gives me a decent amount of time
to develop my skills.

9. SMART TARGETS - Long Term target 4 ON Professionalism
Specific EXACTLY what is it
you want to
achieve (state:
which, who, what,
where, when, why,)
I need to improve on the way I overcome
problems in lessons. When there is a
problem with myself or the rest of the
group I need to improve how I solve the
problem. This will then mean that I can be
more professional with my peers in my
lessons.
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that
your target has
been met?
I will measure this by whenever we get a
problem in lessons I will see how at first, I
overcome them, I will keep a note how I
overcome them. Every 2 weeks I will look at
how I have dealt with the problems and see
if I have improved on my professionalism.
Achievable How will you
ensure this is in
your ability? Are
there specific
resources that can
assist you? Can it
be done at all?
This will be achievable by having my
teachers and peers judge my problem
solving throughout the process. Also, I will
keep a track of my own progress as regards
to how I have dealt with the problems and
see if I have improved on my
professionalism.
10. Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how
is it realistic?
This is a realistic target because I can keep a
track of how I dealt with situations and how
professional I am when in rehearsal.
Time frame Clearly specifies
target dates,
review dates. It will
give a feasible
deadline and a
reason.
I want to increase on this skills by the
February Showcase, because this is when
we showcase our skills and developments.
Also, this gives me a decent amount of time
to develop my skills.
