Time Management.
In this project I have worked very well with my time. Personally I feel like I have completed all my tasks in a
reasonable amount of time. In this time I had to complete my tasks I feel like I have completed the work to the
best that I could of done. Some tasks took longer than others. The Tabloid article task was my most strongest task
with time. I got my idea straight away and used a source of yahoo to help me write it and it was my most strongest
piece of writing. I took me two lessons to gather my information and write the article which was one of my
quickest pieces of writing but this was because I had a very strong idea and view of how I wanted it to go.
The task that took the longest to complete was my magazine article through production. It started off taking up a
lot of time as it was not going to how I wanted it to go. Then towards the end of the week that I started to pick up
the paste and it all fitted into place and it took me a little longer than I planned but it did not effect any of my other
tasks. Some of the longer tasks were the production of a magazine article, NUJ presentation and my press release.
These took up a lot more time as they involved a lot more content going into them than others. The press release
for me was the hardest to write and this is why it took some time to write compared to the other writing tasks.
I made sure I have left some contingency time at the end of my work to go back and correct my work and make it is
up to a good standard. I will only need a couple of lessons to do this. As many of my tasks are already up to the
standard that I want them to be. My interview is a task that I could possibly need to spend some more time on
because there is some areas of it that could be improved but I am going to get a seconded opinion on this piece of
writing then this will indicate if I do or not.
I was ill for one of the days which set me back a bit and I had limited time to write the interview for the magazine.
This didn’t disrupt my focus on the interview that much as I caught up fast in my own time to make sure my time
was on track. Overall my time management was on track and I had enough time to complete all the tasks.
Reviewing my work in progress
All the way through each writing task I did I was reviewing my work and evaluating it by sending it to my tutor by
email and then we would sit and go through the piece of writing and he would tell me what needs to be done to
improve it. He sent me a copy back and put in the details that need to be changed in read and then I sorted these
out. This could possible happen a couple of times before the final draft was created. I found this very helpful as it
detected what the elements were that I needed to change and I would not of known this otherwise. I feel like this
was very helpful for creating my writing pieces. It allowed me to know what worked and what didn’t. I feel like
evaluating my work through creating it was something that I will do in the future when I do projects like this one.
It was beneficial to my work a lot. I don’t think that my work would of worked out as good If I never did this. I did
get a lot out of this towards my work and this all was very beneficial as I said before. Reflecting this over the run of
this course I may use this method of evaluating throughout other projects that I do. I think it works really well. It
worked the most on my press release as that was the piece of writing that I struggled the most on. I sent this to my
tutor to check many of times. It really worked with correcting my press release as it started off not much like one
and a lot of areas and if it was not for this evaluation throughout method I would of never have got my press
release up to the standard that I have it now and it would still be full of mistakes. I will defiantly be using this again
in the near future.
Technical Competence.
In this project it did not take up a lot of technical qualities there was only one main task that involved a lot more
technical aspects to it and that was through production.
Through production I created a magazine interview spread that was based around my Beyoncé fan interview. To
create the magazine spread I had to use the program In Design. This was a lot better to use for this kind of product
than using a program such as photoshop. I started with a blank page and then added guidelines to create a guide for
my to follow. This helped with placing writing and headlines with the images. I used the shape tool and this create a
square for the background. I then changed the gradient of the square and the colour to black and then added with
this gradient and this created a gradient effect for the background. I really liked this effect and I noticed that it was
used a lot in Cosmopolitan. I edited the photos of Beyoncé in photoshop before I put them on In Design. I used this
magic wand tool to do this. This part of my photos did not go so smoothly as it was hard to take away the
background on the picture of Beyoncé I wanted. The magic wand tool gave the best end result , that is why I used
this tool. I did this for all the pictures I put on my magazine spread.
Using In Design was very new to me. I had not done much work on this program before that was major so using this
program was very time consuming as I had to work out where the tools were and what was what. I did pick this up
really quickly and for what I was creating the program worked a lot better than photoshop, From a technical point,
personally I feel like I did really well with my work. I was able to use a range of tools to create my magazine into
something very realistic and fit for purpose. I studied cosmopolitan a lot through research before I started research
and this made me aware of how cosmopolitan was laid out and what colours, fonts, features they have on their
spreads. This was really beneficial as my work has turned out looking very professional looking in my opinion. As I
was able to know what kind of features I needed in my work.
Technical Competence

I used appropriate fonts that were feminine and trendy. Then I used colours such as grays and pinks. In Design
worked really for this as it was easy to place where I wanted everything. The guideline tool was very beneficial for
this.
There was a cosmopolitan spread that I took a lot of inspiration from involving Jessie J.
I took a lot of inspiration from this piece of work in Cosmo. Like the
gradient background and the dashed lines in-between the writing.
It was not hard technically to create something like this. This made
me confident about using the program In Design. I am going to be
using this program in the future with future projects as a picked up
the skills fast and it was really easy for creating a product like this
kind.
I only used the two programs to complete my finished piece. I
found In Design a lot easier to use for this task. I started out my
work In photoshop but it got very hard to layout the writing with a
picture and you are not able to have the guidelines that In Design
provides you with.
None of the other writing tasks such as the press release and the fanzine took up much technical work as I used the
program Microsoft Word and this is a pretty straight forward program which is just there to process my work out
on the computer.
Creative Abilities.
I feel like this project allowed me to perform a lot of creativity in my work. Personally I feel like I do have a lot of
creativity in my production piece.. My magazine article took inspiration from original cosmopolitan magazines
interviews. So I took the look from a already existing interview with Jessie J. As shown on the last slide. I followed
the layout so my product was like the Cosmo page this then showed that my work was meant to be for Cosmo. I
could not overly created as I had to stick to what looked like should be in cosmopolitan. The most creative parts of
my work are the gradient background and the colours that I have used. Personally I feel that these are the most
creative aspects to my work. I used greys and pinks because I had to think about colours that went with Beyoncé as
an artist so I took inspiration from her album cover ‘Beyoncé’. I couldn’t use a black background so that is why I used
grey.
I used two fonts in my work to make the writing look a lot more creative. They were American Typewriter and
BASIC. These broke up my writing from the interviewer and the fans so in a creative way gave my work more detail
and it gave the writing a trendy appearance and made the target audience want to read it. I used these two fonts
throughout the whole of my spread. I got inspiration to do this from existing Jessie J interview in Cosmo. I tried my
best to make it look as realistic as possible and creatively I feel like I have achieved this.
Another piece of my work that I was able to get creative with was my fanzine. This was creativity through the
wiring as I had to to wrote my fanzine purely from my own thoughts and views from Beyoncé. I picked three main
topics, Her as inspiration, her music and her style and I elaborated on these topics. I had to think in a creative way in
what to write first and how to write this. I found this very challenging in some respects as it’s not easy to right down
your views on a celebrity without you maybe sounding a bit stupid or having backlash. I had to pick certain words to
use that would show BeyoncĂ© in a really positive light. So I used words like ‘best’ & ‘inspiration’
Creative Abilities.
My creative abilities in this project were strong because this is my most strongest point. I really enjoyed writing and
I really enjoyed the creative writing aspect to my work. I really enjoyed having to come up with content and do
writing pieces on them. I feel like this is my strongest point in the whole course. My creative ability flared in the
energy drinks project but I feel like personally for me I show a lot more creative ability through my writing. As I love
writing and this is what I want to do as a career.
I took from already existing written pieces. I did this with the Obituaries and the Tabloid piece. I researched these
writing pieces online and found some which I liked I then studied the way that they were wrote and the content
they involved and I created my writing pieces to be on the same level. I was very proud with how my tabloid piece
turned out as I found this the most interesting to write. I had to be creative when picking words to use as I had to
dumb myself down to write it.
Fanzine.
Personally I feel like I achieved writing a fanzine in this project. I set out to write a
fanzine about Beyoncé and I achieved this so I am proud. I did this by talking about
her as a person her music and her fashion. I read fanzines about her that I found on
the internet and they talked about these sort of topics. I found a really good
fanzine on one Beyoncé fan website which talked about her style and I found this
really useful for inspiration.
This definitely has a distinct audience of Beyoncé fans. The primary audience is
girls all ages as I talk about her fashion sense a lot and how she is a inspiration and
a feminist. This would be more targeted towards girls as they would appreciate
reading something like this more. Whereas boys would not be interested in this.
However the secondary audience is males as they also could be fans of Beyoncé. It
is for male and females all ages as anyone can be a fan of Beyoncé. All races,
religions and sexuality.
The content that I talk about is Beyoncé in general and about how great she is.
Then I talk about her being an inspiration to us girls, her music and her fashion. I
got this content from inspiration on the internet. They talk about her fashion and
music so I thought that this must be an important aspect to put into my work.
That’s why I included this content. Also being a fan myself I wanted to talk about it.
I did encounter some problems as I had to send this back to my tutor once to get it
evaluated and sent back to me. My problem was that it did not flow I jumped from
bit to another and it was muddled up. So I had to edit it to create my second draft
and I had to take bits out and move them around. This then created it to flow. My
overall style is quite informal. I haven't be formal but it is no really casual. I used
rhetorical questions to sound like I was speaking to the audience for example,”
Girls run the world right?” I feel like this keeps my fanzine personal to the fans.
Fanzine.
This is really effective as Beyoncé fans are a niche audience that I need to concentrate on grabbing their attention.
It is fit for purpose as it is particle and it all flows together to create a massive kind of rant about Beyoncé
being the best artist. I am proud with this piece of work. The skills that I have used are the skills to create a fanzine before this task I did not
know how to write one. I have no idea. Through this task I started off being a bit rubbish for what I was writing then through out writing the
fanzine my skills developed and I slowly progressed into writing a really good fanzine. Through the seconded draft this is when my skills
developed the most when writing as a knew exactly what I needed to do and change to create the perfect fanzine. My tutor told me that I
had a really strong start to my fanzine which I was really happy about as I thought the question for the start of the fanzine really effective.
Technically my skills did not develop. But through writing they did as if I have to write another fanzine in the future I will have the skills to
be able to do that. Then they will develop even more.
For improving my fanzine personally I feel like I could improve then end. This is because I feel like I could say something else and I cut the
fanzine off short. I feel like I should of give my fanzine a better ending that the one it has. So this is an area of my fanzine that I feel that I
could improve with but personally I feel like it went really well. I am very happy with the outcome of it.
Press Release
I did achieve what I wanted to do in this piece of work. I needed to wrote a press
release so I chose the birth of Beyoncé's baby and I wrote a press release for this. I
achieved this by I didn’t use any sources for the quotes. I kept it one page and
short and filled my writing with what the public would want to know about the
baby being bored. My distinct audience for this work is fans of Beyoncé. It is
about what they want to know. There is a wide age range of people both male and
female in this target audience and my piece of writing is appropriate for them all
because I am just writing about the birth of Beyoncé's birthday which is what they
want to know about as they are fans. This piece of writing does not sure as
strongly as the fanzine does about the target audience as it is very open to
everybody as it is a press release. It had to be very neutral.
The content that I put in to my work is all about Beyoncé's baby and I got the
quotes from what her first baby post was when Blue Ivy was born. I did encounter
some problems when writing this press release as I found it the hardest to write. I
evaluated it with my tutor the most out of all my tasks. I found it the hardest to
write due to the content that I picked. Instead of picking a CD release I chose an
events and this was quite hard to cover. I had 4 drafts of this piece of writing to
get it to the final. I over come this by choosing words carefully. I just had to keep
on editing words in and out and moving sentences around. That is how I worked
out the press release.
The style is quite formal as it being published in a paper. So it still needs to include
that level of professionalism. I took inspiration from an online source to achieve
this professional look about my press release. This is a lot like the energy drink
bottles where I took an existing product like the monster can and took a
inspiration from this to create something that is fit for purpose.
Press Release.
For this task I had to use my skills in researching and gathering sources together which my skills in this area are pretty strong so I did
not struggle with this. I then had to use skills in using a word document but again I had no problems with this as I am very familiar with
Microsoft word. This press release didn’t require many skills. I just found it hard to write it as I kept reporting instead of giving a
statement. For this task I didn’t have to learn any new skills in a technical way as I already very familiar with what I had to work with
technically. However I did gain the skill on writing a press release in general. I now could write another press release and I would know
how to write it. Before this I had never wrote a press release before and I did not know how to write one but now I have gained the
skills so if asked again I could write one a lot easier.
I don’t fell personally that my work needs improving as such. I feel like I have evaluated it enough through out the production of this
piece and edited enough that I can’t any more. I feel like it can’t have any more done to it as it is the right length the right number of
words and includes the right content. The problems I did find was that I was reporting to much in my work and I was putting sources to
quotes which didn’t mean to be there. I was able to solve these quickly as I edited them out. I got good feedback overall from my tutor
who said it was a strong press release once I finally finished my last draft.
Obituary
I did achieve what I planned out to write. The intensions of writing a
Obituary was met when I completed this task. For this a started to
research obituaries and I found one about Peaches Geldof from this a
studied the layout and the way it was wrote and created my obituary
to have the same look as this one and I did achieve this. I did this by
talking about quotes that Beyoncé has said when she was alive and
talking about the cause of her death, family and fans. I felt like these
were very important pieces of content that I needed to include.
My audience is very wide for this piece of writing. As it is informing
people about Beyoncé's death. There is a target audience that will be
Beyoncé fans but there are a a very wide age range. It is celebrating
Beyoncé's death which is something that her fans would be
interested in doing. Then there will a secondary audience of non
Beyoncé's fans but people that read the paper the obituary is
published in and are interested to know about her death.
The product has been made by Beyoncé fans as it is talking about her
death and how I happened. It uses quotes from interviews and I used
content from her band mates and her family. This is something that
all obituaries used and I feel this is the content that the target
audience would be interested in knowing. I talk about her last
interview which is a part of my work which is quite specific to her fans
because they would know the interviews that Beyoncé would have
had and what was her last and the sort of things that she said. I added
this to make it specific to the fans and to attract the audience.
Obituary
The kind of content that I used for my copy was that I found quotes that she had said in interviews and made out like she said this a last
interview that she ever had. Obviously she is not dead so I had to find sources from the internet that possibly could sound like she had
died. This was hard but I was able to gather some up. I did not use any images on this as images are not typically seen. With this piece of
writing I had to edit it twice and there was two drafts before I got my final draft. I had to send it to be evaluated to my tutor twice as I was
reporting rather than explaining and celebrating her life. It was really hard for me to not report. As my first draft was like more like a
magazine article it was seen as something quite gossipy which I had to try and stay away from. I learnt this in my second draft and
changed my words around to create a piece of writing that was a lot more like a obituary. The style of this piece is formal. I wanted it to be
formal because the obituaries that I research were all formally written I think this is because it is a sign of respect. Comparing my work to
others that I found online I feel like mien is looking as professional as actual published pieces. I took Inspiration from my favorite obituary
written for Peaches Geldof and I went with this kind of style. I talked about her death and interview and what she had said in them. Then I
concentrated what people thought about her. The peaches Geldof one that I found on the times website was a lot like this and I really
liked the way it was written it was like celebrating that person in a whole. The skills I used was my skills to wrote emotively and I feel like
this went very well. I used words that were emotive and gave feeling to my work like ‘sadly’ and ‘deeply’ these words really show the
emotions in this piece of writing. Technically I did not struggle at all with the word as I used a word document Microsoft word to create
this and I am very confident with this program. In Critical approaches most of this work was on a word document and I can use it very
confidently unlike In Design and Photoshop.
My skills developed in this area with actually writing a obituary. I did not know how to write one and now I do know which is a skill I can
take into practice in the work place for when I am older. As I wanted to be a magazine journalist I may get asked to do this in the future
and now I have the skill to be able to write one. My skills in this area have developed with writing as it is writing in a different way to what I
am used to. I feel confident now with this skill.
There could be some areas to improve this work. Add some more emotive language or talk about her background some more. I feel like
this sounds a bit more like celebrating her life this could be added.
Tabloid Article
Tabloid Article
This is my favorite piece of written work. I achieved what I wanted to do by creating a tabloid article about two celebs wearing the same
outfit. This was my strongest piece of written work and I really enjoyed writing it. It came naturally to me to write a piece like this one. I
especially liked comparing the outfits and commenting on what they was wearing. I achieved this by having a pictures of them and
putting them next to each other and then writing about what there were wearing.
My target audience was young girls who like to read that sort of trash tabloid writing. I would say the target audience is about 16-30. It
is aimed at girls who like to know about what celebrities are wearing and who wore it better which is proven to be a popular segment in
magazines that girls like to read. I aimed this tabloid piece to girls this age by using words that reached out to them such as ‘whopping’
and I used lines that were personal and very direct to them such as ‘you better start saving girls’. This is really effective as you know that
the piece is aimed at young girls as I am mentioning it in my piece of writing. I fit the conventions of an easy read as reading what
someone was wearing does not take a lot of thinking and the content I found from yahoo.
The content that I talked about was basically two celebrities wore the same outfit at two different events and it was a fashion battle of
who wore it better. I gathered this from the Yahoo celebrity page. I thought this kind of content would be prefect for tabloids article as it
is very easy to read and you can dumb it down a lot and be almost sarcastic with this piece of writing. I found this content the most
enjoyable to write about. I had to get a picture from the internet which I took form the yahoo celebrity page that I got the content
from. I chose this one as it compared the two girls in the same outfit. This was so the audience knows what each of them looked like in
the outfits. This worked the best with the writing because it is showing and comparing which is exactly what my content is all about. I
encounter know problems at all when writing this piece of writing. I was very strong to write this and I really enjoyed it so I put a lot of
effort into making it perfect. The overall style is very casual. I had to dumb this down to make it suitable for a tabloid newspaper. I used
sarcasm and abbreviated words such as ‘Bey’ for BeyoncĂ© and lines like ‘Bigger the better right?.’ This made it very casual.
The skills that I used were my reporting skills which I have found to be very strong at. I had to report about what the celebs were
wearing and this was really strong. I also was very confident with using a word document. I have built up my reporting skills doing this
task and I have found that this is one of my strong points so I am going to take this skill into the work place with me and put it in
practice. I developed my skills I did not gain any new ones as I already knew had to write a tabloid piece of writing from previous
studying that I have done.
Tabloid Article
With this piece of writing I did one draft and sent it to my tutor and he told me that I did not need to edit anything as it was exactly
how it should be. I was very happy with this as it showed my strong point in this project. I do not want to improve anything in this
project because I am very happy with it. I have it exactly how I want. I am very proud of this piece of work. It has made me realise
what I am good at in this field.
Interview
Interview
I definitely achieved what I wanted to do with this interview. I did this by the way I wrote out the interview. I made it very casual and
informal which I followed the way in which cosmopolitan interviewed people in their magazine. I research cosmopolitan interviews a
lot when writing this interview and I got the gist of how they wrote there interviews which were very personal and casual. They talked
to the person being interviewed like a friend. I really like this type of interview so this is why I chose to go down this kind of interview
path. I achieved this and personally I feel like it went really well.
This piece of work definitely has a distinct audience because it is for a magazine that has a distinct audience. Cosmopolitan is a
magazine that is aimed at 18-34 year olds. This is where I got the target audience for my interview as it is being shown in this
magazine. So my magazine is for young women who are 18- to 34-year-old who like a glamorous and sexy style and success. Which
Beyoncé fits in well with this magazine as she is glamorous and successful. This target audience gives my work a very professional
aspect because I knew exactly who I was writing for. I could make it very casual and add in content that girls these ages can relate to.
That Is why I picked cosmopolitan to showcase my magazine. I fit conventions by keep my work casual and fun like Cosmo does. I kept
it feeling personal. In Cosmo itself interviews reflect on the audience a lot and the interviewer is always very bubbly and witty which is
something that I wanted to get across. I added this in my work.
The content I used was the primary research that I did for my project. I did a questionnaire and used these questions for the questions
in my interview. I elaborated on these questions and made and made them sound more like a conversation than a question. I have no
used any photographs as this was just a writing copy. I did not encounter any problems with this work at all, I found it really easy to
write and really fun apart from the tabloid this was one of my favorite pieces to write. The overall style of my work is chatty and
informal. I made it casual as this went with the theme of the magazine. I made it fun to read with jokey and sarcastic comments like
“Calm down guys, one at a time” I wanted to make it more of a conversation that a formal interview. Whereas in other publications
such as Vogue the questions being asked were a lot more formal. It didn’t have that sense of chattiness. I learnt a skill of writing like
this for this project. I have not written anything like this before and now I can. I could already use the program I worked on confidently
so that was not a worry. I can now write in this casual and fun way of writing which for my future is something that is going to come in
handy. I want to be a magazine journalist and this Is something that I may need to put into real life practice.
Overall my skills have developed with writing in this way because it has made me more confident to write for a magazine such as
cosmopolitan and we this skill I can use it for many other magazines like Cosmo.
Interview
Over this project I was able to develop my writing skills in general which is something very very useful to me.
Overall I feel like I have preformed very well in this project. It was something that I really enjoyed writing and I feel like I do not need to
improve this work any more. If I was to go back and change something about this I would changed the order the fans talked and make
each one of them talk first each time. This would of made my interview more like a conversation and not so much like something that
has been put in order. I only realized it sounded like very robotic to when I finished and went back and read it and then I had ran out of
time to change it.

Magazine Article- Production.
My intentions of making a magazine article have been reached and I am really happy with the result but I didn’t find it easy to get my
end result. I eventually was happy with my article but it took a few days of changing elements around and changing the layout etc.. I
final managed to achieve what I wanted when I stopped getting frustrated with my work. I then sat and work on each part bit by bit
slowly and tried to not stress myself out. I got inspiration from a Cosmopolitan article from the internet. It was a Jessie J article and I
really liked the features on it and the look of it so I used this as inspiration and this is how I achieved my final piece which I am now very
happy with.
This piece of work definitely has a distinct audience because it is for a magazine that has a distinct audience. Cosmopolitan is a
magazine that is aimed at 18-34 year olds. This is where I got the target audience for my magazine article as I wanted it to be show
cased in this magazine. So I had to have this target audience. I used young trend colours like greys and pinks. Pink is a strong colour in
Cosmo as the Cosmopolitan title is always in pink . So my magazine article is for young women who are 18- to 34-year-old who like a
glamorous and sexy style and success. I thought that this fit well well in this magazine as Beyoncé is shot a lot on the cover. In previous
issues. I read Cosmopolitan myself and I really like the way they write which is why I wanted to write for Cosmo.
One of the aesthetic qualities of my work is the colours. I used a grey gradient as I found Cosmo used gradient backgrounds a lot. I
thought this worked really well with Beyoncé, especially the colours so I took inspiration from her latest album colours which we black
and pink and collided them with Cosmo colours which were grey and pink. I think the overall colour result worked really well and
definitely fit for purpose in Cosmo. I also chose to have two fonts because that’s what they do in Cosmo between the questions and
answers. I chose trendy fonts that were feminine. I got inspiration for this through the Jessie J interview spread. As they used a fancy
font and a normal Arial font. I put features in the work that Cosmo used like the dashed lines in the middle of the text. I got inspiration
to do this from Cosmo and this makes it look like an actual Cosmo piece.
That content that I talked about in my work was Beyoncé primary research. I took the questions and put them into something a lot
more chatty. I added words to make them sound like a conversation. The content talks about what the fans favorite songs are and why
they find her a inspiration. I chose these kind of question because after reading fan interviews on the internet this is what I found were
asked the most. So it was definitely important content.
Magazine Article- Production.
The photographs that I used I got off goggle images as I was unable to take pictures of Beyoncé myself. There was so many pictures to
chose from but I chose these images because there were posed shots of Beyoncé at a photoshop which fit in with the Cosmopolitan
look. Then the third picture is a paparazzi image of her on stage. I thought this was important and chose it as it shows her in action. The
audience can see her doing her tour. Cosmo always have photoshop images that were made for the magazine and then a paparazzi
image. This is why I chose these images. I tried to make my piece look as real as possible.
Through production of this task I did run into some problems at the start. The start went really bad. I could not get elements to go right
and it was really getting me frustrated. It was because at the start I wasn’t that confident on In Design the problem I was using. This
was a problem as it limited my knowledge and I had to wing what I was doing. My first layout did not work out and it ended up looking
stupid. SO I had to scrap that. Then my next layout style didn’t go as well as I found it hard to find the middle of the page. It was really
frustrating me which lost my concentration on my work. I had to give myself a break. Then I came back the next lesson and then sorted
it all out and stopped getting so frustrated. Eventually it all worked out. I am happy with what I created. I am happy with this layout
choice as it worked out in the end. The overall style of this piece is a feminine and girly. I had to create it like this because of the
magazine I was putting it into. As I am putting it in Cosmopolitan I had to use pinks to create the Cosmopolitan vibe. I had to make the
style feminine as Cosmo is a magazine for young girls.
The skills that I developed was my skills to use In Design. At the start of the project I had no idea of how to use this program. I had used
it briefly once. But I had not used it properly for something important. This was learning experience for me as I had to read tutorial and
I had to learn how to use tools and find what was what. This added some time on to me making my work but it worked really well. In
the end I preferred using In Design to using Photoshop. The more I used In Design the more my skills in this area developed. It was
something. I am really glad I have developed my sills in this program because it something that I will be needing to use a university. I
now have the skills to be able to use this.
My areas of improvement would be the back page. I ran out of time and I had to create this create this area quicker than the rest
because of the start I took a lot of time trying to use In Design. So this had some effect on my last page. I would go back and improve
this by making it look a bit more neater and perfect. It’s a bit everywhere which I am not happy about.

Evaluation

  • 1.
  • 2. Time Management. In this project I have worked very well with my time. Personally I feel like I have completed all my tasks in a reasonable amount of time. In this time I had to complete my tasks I feel like I have completed the work to the best that I could of done. Some tasks took longer than others. The Tabloid article task was my most strongest task with time. I got my idea straight away and used a source of yahoo to help me write it and it was my most strongest piece of writing. I took me two lessons to gather my information and write the article which was one of my quickest pieces of writing but this was because I had a very strong idea and view of how I wanted it to go. The task that took the longest to complete was my magazine article through production. It started off taking up a lot of time as it was not going to how I wanted it to go. Then towards the end of the week that I started to pick up the paste and it all fitted into place and it took me a little longer than I planned but it did not effect any of my other tasks. Some of the longer tasks were the production of a magazine article, NUJ presentation and my press release. These took up a lot more time as they involved a lot more content going into them than others. The press release for me was the hardest to write and this is why it took some time to write compared to the other writing tasks. I made sure I have left some contingency time at the end of my work to go back and correct my work and make it is up to a good standard. I will only need a couple of lessons to do this. As many of my tasks are already up to the standard that I want them to be. My interview is a task that I could possibly need to spend some more time on because there is some areas of it that could be improved but I am going to get a seconded opinion on this piece of writing then this will indicate if I do or not. I was ill for one of the days which set me back a bit and I had limited time to write the interview for the magazine. This didn’t disrupt my focus on the interview that much as I caught up fast in my own time to make sure my time was on track. Overall my time management was on track and I had enough time to complete all the tasks.
  • 3. Reviewing my work in progress All the way through each writing task I did I was reviewing my work and evaluating it by sending it to my tutor by email and then we would sit and go through the piece of writing and he would tell me what needs to be done to improve it. He sent me a copy back and put in the details that need to be changed in read and then I sorted these out. This could possible happen a couple of times before the final draft was created. I found this very helpful as it detected what the elements were that I needed to change and I would not of known this otherwise. I feel like this was very helpful for creating my writing pieces. It allowed me to know what worked and what didn’t. I feel like evaluating my work through creating it was something that I will do in the future when I do projects like this one. It was beneficial to my work a lot. I don’t think that my work would of worked out as good If I never did this. I did get a lot out of this towards my work and this all was very beneficial as I said before. Reflecting this over the run of this course I may use this method of evaluating throughout other projects that I do. I think it works really well. It worked the most on my press release as that was the piece of writing that I struggled the most on. I sent this to my tutor to check many of times. It really worked with correcting my press release as it started off not much like one and a lot of areas and if it was not for this evaluation throughout method I would of never have got my press release up to the standard that I have it now and it would still be full of mistakes. I will defiantly be using this again in the near future.
  • 4. Technical Competence. In this project it did not take up a lot of technical qualities there was only one main task that involved a lot more technical aspects to it and that was through production. Through production I created a magazine interview spread that was based around my BeyoncĂ© fan interview. To create the magazine spread I had to use the program In Design. This was a lot better to use for this kind of product than using a program such as photoshop. I started with a blank page and then added guidelines to create a guide for my to follow. This helped with placing writing and headlines with the images. I used the shape tool and this create a square for the background. I then changed the gradient of the square and the colour to black and then added with this gradient and this created a gradient effect for the background. I really liked this effect and I noticed that it was used a lot in Cosmopolitan. I edited the photos of BeyoncĂ© in photoshop before I put them on In Design. I used this magic wand tool to do this. This part of my photos did not go so smoothly as it was hard to take away the background on the picture of BeyoncĂ© I wanted. The magic wand tool gave the best end result , that is why I used this tool. I did this for all the pictures I put on my magazine spread. Using In Design was very new to me. I had not done much work on this program before that was major so using this program was very time consuming as I had to work out where the tools were and what was what. I did pick this up really quickly and for what I was creating the program worked a lot better than photoshop, From a technical point, personally I feel like I did really well with my work. I was able to use a range of tools to create my magazine into something very realistic and fit for purpose. I studied cosmopolitan a lot through research before I started research and this made me aware of how cosmopolitan was laid out and what colours, fonts, features they have on their spreads. This was really beneficial as my work has turned out looking very professional looking in my opinion. As I was able to know what kind of features I needed in my work.
  • 5. Technical Competence
I used appropriate fonts that were feminine and trendy. Then I used colours such as grays and pinks. In Design worked really for this as it was easy to place where I wanted everything. The guideline tool was very beneficial for this. There was a cosmopolitan spread that I took a lot of inspiration from involving Jessie J. I took a lot of inspiration from this piece of work in Cosmo. Like the gradient background and the dashed lines in-between the writing. It was not hard technically to create something like this. This made me confident about using the program In Design. I am going to be using this program in the future with future projects as a picked up the skills fast and it was really easy for creating a product like this kind. I only used the two programs to complete my finished piece. I found In Design a lot easier to use for this task. I started out my work In photoshop but it got very hard to layout the writing with a picture and you are not able to have the guidelines that In Design provides you with. None of the other writing tasks such as the press release and the fanzine took up much technical work as I used the program Microsoft Word and this is a pretty straight forward program which is just there to process my work out on the computer.
  • 6. Creative Abilities. I feel like this project allowed me to perform a lot of creativity in my work. Personally I feel like I do have a lot of creativity in my production piece.. My magazine article took inspiration from original cosmopolitan magazines interviews. So I took the look from a already existing interview with Jessie J. As shown on the last slide. I followed the layout so my product was like the Cosmo page this then showed that my work was meant to be for Cosmo. I could not overly created as I had to stick to what looked like should be in cosmopolitan. The most creative parts of my work are the gradient background and the colours that I have used. Personally I feel that these are the most creative aspects to my work. I used greys and pinks because I had to think about colours that went with BeyoncĂ© as an artist so I took inspiration from her album cover ‘Beyoncé’. I couldn’t use a black background so that is why I used grey. I used two fonts in my work to make the writing look a lot more creative. They were American Typewriter and BASIC. These broke up my writing from the interviewer and the fans so in a creative way gave my work more detail and it gave the writing a trendy appearance and made the target audience want to read it. I used these two fonts throughout the whole of my spread. I got inspiration to do this from existing Jessie J interview in Cosmo. I tried my best to make it look as realistic as possible and creatively I feel like I have achieved this. Another piece of my work that I was able to get creative with was my fanzine. This was creativity through the wiring as I had to to wrote my fanzine purely from my own thoughts and views from BeyoncĂ©. I picked three main topics, Her as inspiration, her music and her style and I elaborated on these topics. I had to think in a creative way in what to write first and how to write this. I found this very challenging in some respects as it’s not easy to right down your views on a celebrity without you maybe sounding a bit stupid or having backlash. I had to pick certain words to use that would show BeyoncĂ© in a really positive light. So I used words like ‘best’ & ‘inspiration’
  • 7. Creative Abilities. My creative abilities in this project were strong because this is my most strongest point. I really enjoyed writing and I really enjoyed the creative writing aspect to my work. I really enjoyed having to come up with content and do writing pieces on them. I feel like this is my strongest point in the whole course. My creative ability flared in the energy drinks project but I feel like personally for me I show a lot more creative ability through my writing. As I love writing and this is what I want to do as a career. I took from already existing written pieces. I did this with the Obituaries and the Tabloid piece. I researched these writing pieces online and found some which I liked I then studied the way that they were wrote and the content they involved and I created my writing pieces to be on the same level. I was very proud with how my tabloid piece turned out as I found this the most interesting to write. I had to be creative when picking words to use as I had to dumb myself down to write it.
  • 8. Fanzine. Personally I feel like I achieved writing a fanzine in this project. I set out to write a fanzine about BeyoncĂ© and I achieved this so I am proud. I did this by talking about her as a person her music and her fashion. I read fanzines about her that I found on the internet and they talked about these sort of topics. I found a really good fanzine on one BeyoncĂ© fan website which talked about her style and I found this really useful for inspiration. This definitely has a distinct audience of BeyoncĂ© fans. The primary audience is girls all ages as I talk about her fashion sense a lot and how she is a inspiration and a feminist. This would be more targeted towards girls as they would appreciate reading something like this more. Whereas boys would not be interested in this. However the secondary audience is males as they also could be fans of BeyoncĂ©. It is for male and females all ages as anyone can be a fan of BeyoncĂ©. All races, religions and sexuality. The content that I talk about is BeyoncĂ© in general and about how great she is. Then I talk about her being an inspiration to us girls, her music and her fashion. I got this content from inspiration on the internet. They talk about her fashion and music so I thought that this must be an important aspect to put into my work. That’s why I included this content. Also being a fan myself I wanted to talk about it. I did encounter some problems as I had to send this back to my tutor once to get it evaluated and sent back to me. My problem was that it did not flow I jumped from bit to another and it was muddled up. So I had to edit it to create my second draft and I had to take bits out and move them around. This then created it to flow. My overall style is quite informal. I haven't be formal but it is no really casual. I used rhetorical questions to sound like I was speaking to the audience for example,” Girls run the world right?” I feel like this keeps my fanzine personal to the fans.
  • 9. Fanzine. This is really effective as BeyoncĂ© fans are a niche audience that I need to concentrate on grabbing their attention. It is fit for purpose as it is particle and it all flows together to create a massive kind of rant about BeyoncĂ© being the best artist. I am proud with this piece of work. The skills that I have used are the skills to create a fanzine before this task I did not know how to write one. I have no idea. Through this task I started off being a bit rubbish for what I was writing then through out writing the fanzine my skills developed and I slowly progressed into writing a really good fanzine. Through the seconded draft this is when my skills developed the most when writing as a knew exactly what I needed to do and change to create the perfect fanzine. My tutor told me that I had a really strong start to my fanzine which I was really happy about as I thought the question for the start of the fanzine really effective. Technically my skills did not develop. But through writing they did as if I have to write another fanzine in the future I will have the skills to be able to do that. Then they will develop even more. For improving my fanzine personally I feel like I could improve then end. This is because I feel like I could say something else and I cut the fanzine off short. I feel like I should of give my fanzine a better ending that the one it has. So this is an area of my fanzine that I feel that I could improve with but personally I feel like it went really well. I am very happy with the outcome of it.
  • 10. Press Release I did achieve what I wanted to do in this piece of work. I needed to wrote a press release so I chose the birth of BeyoncĂ©'s baby and I wrote a press release for this. I achieved this by I didn’t use any sources for the quotes. I kept it one page and short and filled my writing with what the public would want to know about the baby being bored. My distinct audience for this work is fans of BeyoncĂ©. It is about what they want to know. There is a wide age range of people both male and female in this target audience and my piece of writing is appropriate for them all because I am just writing about the birth of BeyoncĂ©'s birthday which is what they want to know about as they are fans. This piece of writing does not sure as strongly as the fanzine does about the target audience as it is very open to everybody as it is a press release. It had to be very neutral. The content that I put in to my work is all about BeyoncĂ©'s baby and I got the quotes from what her first baby post was when Blue Ivy was born. I did encounter some problems when writing this press release as I found it the hardest to write. I evaluated it with my tutor the most out of all my tasks. I found it the hardest to write due to the content that I picked. Instead of picking a CD release I chose an events and this was quite hard to cover. I had 4 drafts of this piece of writing to get it to the final. I over come this by choosing words carefully. I just had to keep on editing words in and out and moving sentences around. That is how I worked out the press release. The style is quite formal as it being published in a paper. So it still needs to include that level of professionalism. I took inspiration from an online source to achieve this professional look about my press release. This is a lot like the energy drink bottles where I took an existing product like the monster can and took a inspiration from this to create something that is fit for purpose.
  • 11. Press Release. For this task I had to use my skills in researching and gathering sources together which my skills in this area are pretty strong so I did not struggle with this. I then had to use skills in using a word document but again I had no problems with this as I am very familiar with Microsoft word. This press release didn’t require many skills. I just found it hard to write it as I kept reporting instead of giving a statement. For this task I didn’t have to learn any new skills in a technical way as I already very familiar with what I had to work with technically. However I did gain the skill on writing a press release in general. I now could write another press release and I would know how to write it. Before this I had never wrote a press release before and I did not know how to write one but now I have gained the skills so if asked again I could write one a lot easier. I don’t fell personally that my work needs improving as such. I feel like I have evaluated it enough through out the production of this piece and edited enough that I can’t any more. I feel like it can’t have any more done to it as it is the right length the right number of words and includes the right content. The problems I did find was that I was reporting to much in my work and I was putting sources to quotes which didn’t mean to be there. I was able to solve these quickly as I edited them out. I got good feedback overall from my tutor who said it was a strong press release once I finally finished my last draft.
  • 12. Obituary I did achieve what I planned out to write. The intensions of writing a Obituary was met when I completed this task. For this a started to research obituaries and I found one about Peaches Geldof from this a studied the layout and the way it was wrote and created my obituary to have the same look as this one and I did achieve this. I did this by talking about quotes that BeyoncĂ© has said when she was alive and talking about the cause of her death, family and fans. I felt like these were very important pieces of content that I needed to include. My audience is very wide for this piece of writing. As it is informing people about BeyoncĂ©'s death. There is a target audience that will be BeyoncĂ© fans but there are a a very wide age range. It is celebrating BeyoncĂ©'s death which is something that her fans would be interested in doing. Then there will a secondary audience of non BeyoncĂ©'s fans but people that read the paper the obituary is published in and are interested to know about her death. The product has been made by BeyoncĂ© fans as it is talking about her death and how I happened. It uses quotes from interviews and I used content from her band mates and her family. This is something that all obituaries used and I feel this is the content that the target audience would be interested in knowing. I talk about her last interview which is a part of my work which is quite specific to her fans because they would know the interviews that BeyoncĂ© would have had and what was her last and the sort of things that she said. I added this to make it specific to the fans and to attract the audience.
  • 13. Obituary The kind of content that I used for my copy was that I found quotes that she had said in interviews and made out like she said this a last interview that she ever had. Obviously she is not dead so I had to find sources from the internet that possibly could sound like she had died. This was hard but I was able to gather some up. I did not use any images on this as images are not typically seen. With this piece of writing I had to edit it twice and there was two drafts before I got my final draft. I had to send it to be evaluated to my tutor twice as I was reporting rather than explaining and celebrating her life. It was really hard for me to not report. As my first draft was like more like a magazine article it was seen as something quite gossipy which I had to try and stay away from. I learnt this in my second draft and changed my words around to create a piece of writing that was a lot more like a obituary. The style of this piece is formal. I wanted it to be formal because the obituaries that I research were all formally written I think this is because it is a sign of respect. Comparing my work to others that I found online I feel like mien is looking as professional as actual published pieces. I took Inspiration from my favorite obituary written for Peaches Geldof and I went with this kind of style. I talked about her death and interview and what she had said in them. Then I concentrated what people thought about her. The peaches Geldof one that I found on the times website was a lot like this and I really liked the way it was written it was like celebrating that person in a whole. The skills I used was my skills to wrote emotively and I feel like this went very well. I used words that were emotive and gave feeling to my work like ‘sadly’ and ‘deeply’ these words really show the emotions in this piece of writing. Technically I did not struggle at all with the word as I used a word document Microsoft word to create this and I am very confident with this program. In Critical approaches most of this work was on a word document and I can use it very confidently unlike In Design and Photoshop. My skills developed in this area with actually writing a obituary. I did not know how to write one and now I do know which is a skill I can take into practice in the work place for when I am older. As I wanted to be a magazine journalist I may get asked to do this in the future and now I have the skill to be able to write one. My skills in this area have developed with writing as it is writing in a different way to what I am used to. I feel confident now with this skill. There could be some areas to improve this work. Add some more emotive language or talk about her background some more. I feel like this sounds a bit more like celebrating her life this could be added.
  • 15. Tabloid Article This is my favorite piece of written work. I achieved what I wanted to do by creating a tabloid article about two celebs wearing the same outfit. This was my strongest piece of written work and I really enjoyed writing it. It came naturally to me to write a piece like this one. I especially liked comparing the outfits and commenting on what they was wearing. I achieved this by having a pictures of them and putting them next to each other and then writing about what there were wearing. My target audience was young girls who like to read that sort of trash tabloid writing. I would say the target audience is about 16-30. It is aimed at girls who like to know about what celebrities are wearing and who wore it better which is proven to be a popular segment in magazines that girls like to read. I aimed this tabloid piece to girls this age by using words that reached out to them such as ‘whopping’ and I used lines that were personal and very direct to them such as ‘you better start saving girls’. This is really effective as you know that the piece is aimed at young girls as I am mentioning it in my piece of writing. I fit the conventions of an easy read as reading what someone was wearing does not take a lot of thinking and the content I found from yahoo. The content that I talked about was basically two celebrities wore the same outfit at two different events and it was a fashion battle of who wore it better. I gathered this from the Yahoo celebrity page. I thought this kind of content would be prefect for tabloids article as it is very easy to read and you can dumb it down a lot and be almost sarcastic with this piece of writing. I found this content the most enjoyable to write about. I had to get a picture from the internet which I took form the yahoo celebrity page that I got the content from. I chose this one as it compared the two girls in the same outfit. This was so the audience knows what each of them looked like in the outfits. This worked the best with the writing because it is showing and comparing which is exactly what my content is all about. I encounter know problems at all when writing this piece of writing. I was very strong to write this and I really enjoyed it so I put a lot of effort into making it perfect. The overall style is very casual. I had to dumb this down to make it suitable for a tabloid newspaper. I used sarcasm and abbreviated words such as ‘Bey’ for BeyoncĂ© and lines like ‘Bigger the better right?.’ This made it very casual. The skills that I used were my reporting skills which I have found to be very strong at. I had to report about what the celebs were wearing and this was really strong. I also was very confident with using a word document. I have built up my reporting skills doing this task and I have found that this is one of my strong points so I am going to take this skill into the work place with me and put it in practice. I developed my skills I did not gain any new ones as I already knew had to write a tabloid piece of writing from previous studying that I have done.
  • 16. Tabloid Article With this piece of writing I did one draft and sent it to my tutor and he told me that I did not need to edit anything as it was exactly how it should be. I was very happy with this as it showed my strong point in this project. I do not want to improve anything in this project because I am very happy with it. I have it exactly how I want. I am very proud of this piece of work. It has made me realise what I am good at in this field.
  • 18. Interview I definitely achieved what I wanted to do with this interview. I did this by the way I wrote out the interview. I made it very casual and informal which I followed the way in which cosmopolitan interviewed people in their magazine. I research cosmopolitan interviews a lot when writing this interview and I got the gist of how they wrote there interviews which were very personal and casual. They talked to the person being interviewed like a friend. I really like this type of interview so this is why I chose to go down this kind of interview path. I achieved this and personally I feel like it went really well. This piece of work definitely has a distinct audience because it is for a magazine that has a distinct audience. Cosmopolitan is a magazine that is aimed at 18-34 year olds. This is where I got the target audience for my interview as it is being shown in this magazine. So my magazine is for young women who are 18- to 34-year-old who like a glamorous and sexy style and success. Which BeyoncĂ© fits in well with this magazine as she is glamorous and successful. This target audience gives my work a very professional aspect because I knew exactly who I was writing for. I could make it very casual and add in content that girls these ages can relate to. That Is why I picked cosmopolitan to showcase my magazine. I fit conventions by keep my work casual and fun like Cosmo does. I kept it feeling personal. In Cosmo itself interviews reflect on the audience a lot and the interviewer is always very bubbly and witty which is something that I wanted to get across. I added this in my work. The content I used was the primary research that I did for my project. I did a questionnaire and used these questions for the questions in my interview. I elaborated on these questions and made and made them sound more like a conversation than a question. I have no used any photographs as this was just a writing copy. I did not encounter any problems with this work at all, I found it really easy to write and really fun apart from the tabloid this was one of my favorite pieces to write. The overall style of my work is chatty and informal. I made it casual as this went with the theme of the magazine. I made it fun to read with jokey and sarcastic comments like “Calm down guys, one at a time” I wanted to make it more of a conversation that a formal interview. Whereas in other publications such as Vogue the questions being asked were a lot more formal. It didn’t have that sense of chattiness. I learnt a skill of writing like this for this project. I have not written anything like this before and now I can. I could already use the program I worked on confidently so that was not a worry. I can now write in this casual and fun way of writing which for my future is something that is going to come in handy. I want to be a magazine journalist and this Is something that I may need to put into real life practice. Overall my skills have developed with writing in this way because it has made me more confident to write for a magazine such as cosmopolitan and we this skill I can use it for many other magazines like Cosmo.
  • 19. Interview Over this project I was able to develop my writing skills in general which is something very very useful to me. Overall I feel like I have preformed very well in this project. It was something that I really enjoyed writing and I feel like I do not need to improve this work any more. If I was to go back and change something about this I would changed the order the fans talked and make each one of them talk first each time. This would of made my interview more like a conversation and not so much like something that has been put in order. I only realized it sounded like very robotic to when I finished and went back and read it and then I had ran out of time to change it.
  • 23. Magazine Article- Production. My intentions of making a magazine article have been reached and I am really happy with the result but I didn’t find it easy to get my end result. I eventually was happy with my article but it took a few days of changing elements around and changing the layout etc.. I final managed to achieve what I wanted when I stopped getting frustrated with my work. I then sat and work on each part bit by bit slowly and tried to not stress myself out. I got inspiration from a Cosmopolitan article from the internet. It was a Jessie J article and I really liked the features on it and the look of it so I used this as inspiration and this is how I achieved my final piece which I am now very happy with. This piece of work definitely has a distinct audience because it is for a magazine that has a distinct audience. Cosmopolitan is a magazine that is aimed at 18-34 year olds. This is where I got the target audience for my magazine article as I wanted it to be show cased in this magazine. So I had to have this target audience. I used young trend colours like greys and pinks. Pink is a strong colour in Cosmo as the Cosmopolitan title is always in pink . So my magazine article is for young women who are 18- to 34-year-old who like a glamorous and sexy style and success. I thought that this fit well well in this magazine as BeyoncĂ© is shot a lot on the cover. In previous issues. I read Cosmopolitan myself and I really like the way they write which is why I wanted to write for Cosmo. One of the aesthetic qualities of my work is the colours. I used a grey gradient as I found Cosmo used gradient backgrounds a lot. I thought this worked really well with BeyoncĂ©, especially the colours so I took inspiration from her latest album colours which we black and pink and collided them with Cosmo colours which were grey and pink. I think the overall colour result worked really well and definitely fit for purpose in Cosmo. I also chose to have two fonts because that’s what they do in Cosmo between the questions and answers. I chose trendy fonts that were feminine. I got inspiration for this through the Jessie J interview spread. As they used a fancy font and a normal Arial font. I put features in the work that Cosmo used like the dashed lines in the middle of the text. I got inspiration to do this from Cosmo and this makes it look like an actual Cosmo piece. That content that I talked about in my work was BeyoncĂ© primary research. I took the questions and put them into something a lot more chatty. I added words to make them sound like a conversation. The content talks about what the fans favorite songs are and why they find her a inspiration. I chose these kind of question because after reading fan interviews on the internet this is what I found were asked the most. So it was definitely important content.
  • 24. Magazine Article- Production. The photographs that I used I got off goggle images as I was unable to take pictures of BeyoncĂ© myself. There was so many pictures to chose from but I chose these images because there were posed shots of BeyoncĂ© at a photoshop which fit in with the Cosmopolitan look. Then the third picture is a paparazzi image of her on stage. I thought this was important and chose it as it shows her in action. The audience can see her doing her tour. Cosmo always have photoshop images that were made for the magazine and then a paparazzi image. This is why I chose these images. I tried to make my piece look as real as possible. Through production of this task I did run into some problems at the start. The start went really bad. I could not get elements to go right and it was really getting me frustrated. It was because at the start I wasn’t that confident on In Design the problem I was using. This was a problem as it limited my knowledge and I had to wing what I was doing. My first layout did not work out and it ended up looking stupid. SO I had to scrap that. Then my next layout style didn’t go as well as I found it hard to find the middle of the page. It was really frustrating me which lost my concentration on my work. I had to give myself a break. Then I came back the next lesson and then sorted it all out and stopped getting so frustrated. Eventually it all worked out. I am happy with what I created. I am happy with this layout choice as it worked out in the end. The overall style of this piece is a feminine and girly. I had to create it like this because of the magazine I was putting it into. As I am putting it in Cosmopolitan I had to use pinks to create the Cosmopolitan vibe. I had to make the style feminine as Cosmo is a magazine for young girls. The skills that I developed was my skills to use In Design. At the start of the project I had no idea of how to use this program. I had used it briefly once. But I had not used it properly for something important. This was learning experience for me as I had to read tutorial and I had to learn how to use tools and find what was what. This added some time on to me making my work but it worked really well. In the end I preferred using In Design to using Photoshop. The more I used In Design the more my skills in this area developed. It was something. I am really glad I have developed my sills in this program because it something that I will be needing to use a university. I now have the skills to be able to use this. My areas of improvement would be the back page. I ran out of time and I had to create this create this area quicker than the rest because of the start I took a lot of time trying to use In Design. So this had some effect on my last page. I would go back and improve this by making it look a bit more neater and perfect. It’s a bit everywhere which I am not happy about.
