2. This poster for surfers against
sewage is very haunting and it
showing surfboards dug into
the sand around no water.
This has really negative
imagery as it’s shown as very
dark and it is very gloomy
looking. It uses a lot of blacks
and greys and these are seen
as negative colours.
This campaign poster uses
photography to make it real. If
it uses illustration then it would
not look as real and it would
not make as much of an
impact.
This poster is aspirational. It
makes you want to make the
beeches cleaner. When you
look at this poster which is
quite hard hitting and
disturbing as a surfer myself
these almost look like grave
stones and that really haunts
me. Seeing the surfboards like
this makes me want to take
action and makes me want to
do something about this
sewage.
The only text on here again
has negative connotations. It
provides information about the
campaign. It uses a rhetorical
question to gain attention and
provide information about the
campaign.
The primary audience for this
is surfers and people who care
about the environment. The
secondary research are
people who like going to the
beach. It is trying to get as
many people who love this
type of environment involved.
This campaign poster is
raising awareness and trying
to get people to start helping
out. They are trying to make
people aware of this issue so
they can help do something
about it.
The font is small and ghostly.
This is to give this campaign
this haunting feel and it does
this really well as it makes it
almost horror like.
3. This is a standard logo that they use for their campaign.
It is very basic and consists of 50/50 text and graphic.
The graphic is very simple and it’s more a shape than it
is a picture of something specific. This logo is aimed at
an adult audience. It is very plain and does not attract
much attention. The font is very plain and simple using
an Arial font. The black stands out and makes it easy to
read. This logo informs the audience of mature people
exactly what the logo is about. It is making people aware
of the social action. As the text takes up 50% of the logo
and this is really effective. It uses blue which is the
colour for social action and it also the colour that is
associated with the sea which makes a link which the
beach and water. This logo has imagery of aspirational
and this is just by the text. Having the text big and bold
alerts people about the problems and allows the to
aspired to help out.
This logo is aimed at a more child based audience.
Compared to the standard logo this logo contains a lot
more specific images that are very obvious that they
represent something so children know what this logo is
about. The logo includes two Whales and sea life
creatures. This is aimed more at children as they will be
attracted and take interest in these subjects. They will
then understand that this logo is about the sea. They still
included the standard logo but they have created a lot
more graphics around this. Just to make a lot more eye-
catching to children. They have not much text as
children will find that a lot more boring. It has simple bold
text that stands out in while which is contrast to the blue
background. This logo informs children what the project
is about. It included the campaign SAS and it includes a
bit of slogan explaining what the SAS is raising
awareness for. This is so children will be able to
understand. It uses different shades of blues because
blue has connotations for the sea and water.
4. Merchandise
There is an online shop where you can buy SAS
merch. This aims from t-shirts to board wax and
mugs. Each of the products have the SAS logo
on. This promotes the brand when people are
using these products.
The t-shirts have the logo on the front and this is
good promotion for when people walk around with
the top on for the campaign. This is branding the
t-shirts. It is still informing people about the
campaign as they have the full logo of “surfers
against sewage” this is informing people about the
campaign as it is telling people what the t-shirts
are all about. The intended audience for these are
both men and women adults. They are men's and
women adult t-shirts. The pinks aimed for women
and the black for men. The purpose of these is
again to raise more awareness about the
campaign it is for people to promote it themselves
when they are out and about. It uses a funky font
on the front of the t-shirts. The text is all
compacted together to almost look like a wave. I
think this is really effective an eye-catching for the
campaign. The t-shirts are promoting the
campaign. This is what they were made for and
that is their purpose.
5. This campaign poster is a lot
different from the last campaign
poster that I researched. This one is
not that haunting it is a
lot more humorous. It Is quite
disgusting and funny like and this is
what is drawing in the attention.
The logo is used in the corner of the
poster to show what the poster is
standing up for. It is in the colour
brown which links with the surfer
covered in a brown substance which
could only be sewage. The logo is
there so people are informed about
what this poster is for.
This shows negative imagery. The
imagery that this poster shows is
pollution and vileness. It pretty
disgusting which is why it is showing
this negative imagery. The surfer
man covered in sewage makes you
feel unclean and disgusting. This
makes you want to go and do
something about it to stop this
problem. Powerful when promoting
this problem. As it is very disgusting.
It is not very emotive it just makes you feel
disgusted. They have used photography to
make this more real. Making it a more real
picture makes this problem more real life. It
makes you feel like this could possibly be
you. This is extremely powerful for surfers.
As it is something that they wouldn’t want
to happen to them. This gives them a push
to want to do something.
The intended audience is surfers and
people who care about the beach. As I said
it is very powerful towards them as this
could possibly be them.. It almost scares
them into helping to fight for against
sewage. Also people who care about the
beach environment because they obviously
don’t want this to happen to them if they go
swimming or in the water.
The purpose for this poster is to get people
to be aware of sewage problem in beaches.
It is there to make them aware and raise
the issue by creating something disgusting
and memorable.
They use bright colours with a mix of some
darker areas. This is effective because it is
showing positive and negative imagery
through the colour. The surfer being
positive the sewage being negative.
6. This is a joining leaflet. If you are considering joining this campaign then they issue you with one of these
leaflets before you sign up. The purpose of this leaflet is to inform you and persuade you to join this
campaign. It gives you reasons to support this campaign and tells you the perks in hope to encourage you to
join. It uses a big font to grab the readers attention and highlights it over the top of the font again to ensure
you know what the leaflet is informing you. The layout is very organized as they have a double page spread in
the middle with all the information on then the back has the application sheet. This leaflet includes lots of
photography of people in action. This again is encouraging people. The front of the leaflet includes some
negative imagery as has a shocking picture on the front. This is to get people interested in joining the
campaign. The negative imagery is off a surfer covered in rubbish and this is effective because it makes other
surfers think twice about what the sewage is doing and how they wouldn’t want to be swimming in sewage.
The image on the front is alerting towards them. The intended audience is people who like to go surfing,
environmentalists and people who care about the beach. They obviously take interest about that kind of
environment and it is important to them. Especially for people who surf because there the ones coming face to
face with the sewage in the water and on the beach. This leaflet uses bright colours to get people to come and
join. They use blue and white a lot. This is linking with the sea and has connotations of water and waves.
7. This is a re joining leaflet so it is for members to renew their membership. As you can see it is pretty plain and
is just bombarded with text. As it is renewal form their does not need to be much persuasion into getting
people to join as they already have been persuaded by the leaflet. The logo is shown at the top right. This to
inform people what the renewal form is about. It follows a similar colour scheme of blue and white as these
colours have connotations of white and blue. The layout is very orginised and it makes it easy for people to
understand where to put their information. The areas like “credit/debit card” are labeled so people don’t get
confused about where to put information. There is not much imagery as it is just a form. There is no images
and anything that really stands out. The
