3. RESEARCH
As me and my group changed the song the day before
recording, we found it difficult to get all the research
done and changed from the original song that we planned
on making a music video for. We ended up completing
the research in the same day and changed these details
researched for the previous song. Although we did this in
a fast manner, we found it difficult and stressful. The only
down side to this is that we had a day to complete all the
research, this is only thing I would change next time.
4. PLANNING
As we did everything in a day because of the song
change, we had to rush to plan everything, we got
permission to film in the location of our choice only an
hour before arriving and got in contact with the other
cast member only two hours before recording and luckily
enough he was available and able to come to the location
and help us film our music video.
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
We used our time well when arriving at the location, after
something to eat we all went into the specific room that
we were going to film in and then go to it, we spent
nearly all night recording for the music video, from 7pm
all the way to 11pm, this luckily let us get enough
footage needed for the music video.
6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
The camera provided for us by York College was a cannon 600D,
this is a great camera and helped with the quality of the music
video, if we did not get this piece of equipment, we would have to
have used our phones to record, which would have worsened the
overall quality of our music video.
7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
For editing, we used Adobe Premiere again, provided by York
College, on the MAC’s they also provided. Thus made the editing
stage of the music video very easy as I personally do not have any
editing software at home so this helped a lot also, because of how
up to date and good the editing software is, it gave me more
options and freedom to edit the video how I wanted, this lets me
get more creative with what I want to video to look like.
8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
For the aesthetic of the video I wanted it to be quite dark in scenes
so I could use the glare of a T.V. screen to show the outline of the
two friends, this was the main focus when recording the video.
This is to show how two friends can be connected through the
power of a game they both enjoy and have passion for. The song
itself works well with this idea as it about someone being at the
metaphorical bottom and needing a friend to come help, this
happens within the music video.
9. AUDIENCE APPEAL
The audience appeal will be the song itself and the game in the
background of the video, this is because the song is very good and
quite catchy and also the game used for the background is Zombies,
a popular Call Of Duty game mode. The age for my target audience is
13-25, although it is a big target audience, I believe that people this
age will be able to enjoy the music video more than people out of
this age group.
11. FEEDBACK 1
What did you like about the product?
It’s comical to watch and the editing is also entertaining.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
A lot of “grain” from the camera and the video is low quality.
12. FEEDBACK 2
What did you like about the product?
I liked the colours, they were vibrant and the editing was very
comedic.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Could have added different styles of shots, too repetitive and maybe
could have used different locations to shoot at.
13. FEEDBACK 3
What did you like about the product?
The song fits the video very well, for the most part, the lighting is
good and works well, the camera angles were also good.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Some of the shots dragged on for too long, and one or two scenes
felt a bit out place compared to the rest of the video.
14. PEER FEEDBACK
SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
Naaaaaaaaaah, its actually such a mint music video.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
Everything apart from the peer that said one or two scenes dragged
for too long as the ending is one picture that lasts 16 seconds.
