The group created a music video and website to promote an artist. They designed a digipak for the artist's R&B song, using two combined images on the cover to make it unique. The digipak links to the music video so viewers know who it is about after seeing the artist. Though they didn't get much audience feedback on the video yet, they received positive verbal comments from peers about it. The group conducted research on music genres, audience preferences, and analyzing other artists' music videos and album designs to inform their project. They planned the project, filmed and edited the music video, designed additional promotional materials, and reflected on their process and results.

Promoting an Artist Digitally and Creating a Music Video & Website
1. As a group we thought a good way to
promote an artist would be to create a
music video and on top of that create a
digital and a website.
Our genre is R&B song, we feel that our
digipak suits our genre due to the two
pictures we have used to combine
together to make something different. The
first image captures the sunset with the
houses in the distance and you have the
main picture on top which is of her sitting
on a stair case. We wanted to show the
view she sees and the environment she
lived in. The reason why we this this was
because doing our research we saw that
no other artist did exactly what we did,
which is why ours is different and better.
2. When producing the
track list we had to make
sure the font and colour
was somewhat different
to other track list. To make
it look like a track list we
added a bar code and
the label she is signed to.
We wanted to make the
background image link to
our front cover digipak so
we took another picture
of the sunset in another
3. The inside of the digipak has a picture of the
artist and the male artist who is featuring in the
song. And another image which is similar to the
front cover. The last image has a message for her
fans who will buy the digipak. The unfortunate
side to this is that we didnât produce a templet
where you can place the CD.
4. The reason why our digipak link to our music video
is because the digipak contains a picture of Nita
Muretzi and as soon as the audience see her they
would know who it is about.
5. So far we haven't really got much audience feedback however there was one comment on the video (Nice video, I liked the editing).
Even though we donât have physical evidence we did get a lot of verbal comment from peers and teachers and family members.
A lot of the reasons why we didnât get more comments is because some people do not have a YouTube account so they cannot
comment and some people just were not bothered to watch therefore we didnât get any comment, or it could be that students that we
sent an email to we to busy to watch it and it must have slipped their minds
We also got more views
than we were expecting
(159). I shared it around
as email to year 12,13
sixth formers.
6.
7. This is the results we got
in a short period of time
which I think is good
enough, and its better
than nothing.
10. Before starting anything we had to research the history of music and how it has
changed. First music video was first broadcasted on MTVâs on August 1st 1981. Frist
song which was published was âThe Bugglesâ with the song âVideo Killed The Radio
Starâ.
Doing this Research gave me ideas as to what to created a music video and how
I would learn from this.
Following from this I had to analyse music videos. I used YouTube to search up the
three songs I wanted to analyse and find out how each component of music
video came together to produce a music video, for this to happen we needed a
narrative and scenery.

13. Research- Digi-pak
When producing our digi-pak we
needed to get ideas so we used the
internet (google) to see how other digi-
pak looked like and how we could
make ours different.
This is our digi-
pak which to
me is good
enough
because we
put in the effort
to make it look
like a real digi-
pak.
I researched different album cover and digi-paks that were recently
produced because it was modern and we were able to relate to it.
Thanks to Google we were able to do this research easily. I could
have done more research however due to the time wasting( we
having problem to film and two weeks before the deadline we
changed the song) I had to rush my blog.
14. For the website research I did
Jhene Aiko due to the fact that
we are redoing one of her song. I
did a power point and added it to
slideshare. We wanted to make
her website similar however we
wanted to add ur own touch
towards it. The way we did this was
my changing the design.
15.
16. Planning
We presented our pitch of our initial
ideas as group to our class mate and
then the next step was to post it on
YouTube to be able to blog it. Being
able to present it to our class mate it
enabled us to get feedback from
them and made us improve for the
criticisms we were getting.
The next step was to create a mood
board for our music video. At first the
genre of our music video which was
Hip Hop, so we did a pop mood board
but near the end we changed the
music video which meant that the
genre was different (R&B) so I did an
R&B mood board.
When changing the song it made it easy
to for us to plan as a group because we
didnât really need to do casting because
we got one member of our group to be
the main character and used the same
boy who was in the old music video to
feature in the song. He was great help
because he was willing to do anything to
help us.
When planning this, I was able to record
everything we had done together as a group. I
did this by using a website called wix which
enabled me to design my blog and move text
around and add images. However when
presenting the PowerPoint the lighting wasnât
good therefore the words we not visible and
the fact that we film it with an iPad 2 to post it
on YouTube, the writing just looked blurry.
17. This is our old mood board
but because we have
changed our song we had
to do a new mood board.
18. For my AS production I used
final cut pro, it was hard to use
however I got the hang of it
because I watched YouTube
tutorial to help me figure how
it works and how I am able to
editing. During that year I
gained the confidence to
learn to edit and since then I
have started to enjoy media
and since I have put my heart
and soul into it.
Before I used Final Cut Pro I
used cute cut to film our prelim.
It was really easy to use and I
understood how it functioned
so I felt that I should challenge
myself, so I went on to using
Final Cut Pro to edit my AS
production. Due to the
experience with Final Cute Pro I
thought It was best to us it for
the A2 media music video.
When editing the music
video I had to make sure
that the lip sink was on
time with the music. Also
making sure that there
were different angles to
make the music video look
interesting for our
audience. On top of the
angle changing I made
sure I added some effects
so that it wasnât bland and
boring for our audiences.
19. For our production we
filmed with a canon
5500 camera, which
gave high quality
images this meant that
the focus was on point.
I was the editor and sometimes I
took the role of a director. I would
always share my opinions and also
listen to my groups opinion so that
we could improve our work. This
year I was able to learn how to focus
with the camera, which was quit
simple.
The disadvantage when using a cannon
indoors is that when filming it doesnât
secure the lighting, the camera picks up
an effect that causes the whole image to
look poor and spoil the clear images.
However we were able to hid all the flaws
because we added the effects so that
the lighting wouldnât be noticed as much.
After filming we made sure that we took
the images off the CD card on to the mac
because we saw that other groups were
having their film deleted so we didnât want
that to happen to us.
20. We have four question and from the four
we all have to answer one as a group. We
did a vodkas using an ipad2 and posted on
YouTube so that I can embed it on to my
blog. Our video lasted 7 min because we
spoke of the mise-en-scene, editing, sound
and props. We spoke about the things we
could have done to improve the music
video, what went well?, why did we change
our song? What is better with this song than
the other song ?. What would have made it
better is if we could have edited and every
time we would speak about a certain thing
we could change it to a screenshot or a
scene in the music video to show what we
are talking about.
I used wix for my blog
because I felt that it
allowed me to be myself
when it came to designing
and I was able to add on
YouTube videos and
pictures from Google. At
first I posted videos on
YouTube however you
couldnât watch it because
It wasnât embedded. I
learn from one of my peers
how to import the videos
on my blog and being
able to watch it.
Overall I feel that
we worked hard
as a group and
we achieved in
what we wanted
to do. I'm proud
of the results .
