• When the mask is shown the dogs start barking and people start laughing showing that they
are in a mental institution of some sort
• Shows that it leads on from the film in 1978 but does not follow any other films after the first
• The look of the mask makes it look old so that the audience knows it was along time since
the first time Mike Myers got arrested.
• At the end it shows the killer in the position of stabbing someone as she tries to close a door.
• Where Mike is being kept is very secured by guys armed with machine guns and they are all
handcuffed down to the floor so they cant escape.
• The scene with the teeth being dropped shows that it is a horror movie and when the many
character Laurie tries to shoot mike but shoots a mirror shows how dangerous he is as he

• The first 3 seconds show a small trailer before the big trailer begins.
• The tape recorder shows links to the original series Saw.
• It has the voice of the original Jigsaw which builds up suspense about weather he did die or
not.
• The dead body which has been hanged in public shows how there is a lot of violence threw
out the movie. The close up of the saw blade shows blood on it showing more violence in the
trailer.
• The sharp objects coming down from the ceiling shows Jigsaws intelligence for his traps.
• The puppet which comes out relating to Saw and also makes the movie look more creepy to
scare his victims.
• Pig face has returned to the movie once again showing the link to the Saw franchise.
Existing Product
• Friday the 13th (2009 DVD Cover)
• The clothing of the main character makes him look scary
because of how ripped his coat is in the poster, but by how he
is carrying a machete with him. The hockey mask can also
show how he is violent as hockey is a violent sport
• The background shows the setting of the forest near Crystal
Lake. You can also tell it will be good as there is a well known
Horror producer who is producing the film.
• The title has been included in red which connotes the amount
of blood that will be included in the horror movie.
• Not much writing shows how the killer never speaks but also
that the fans are speechless because of how good it is.
• It appeals to the audience as people can tell that it leads on
from the original film in 1980 by what the title is and by the
main character on the front cover of the poster, so they have
an idea of weather they are going to watch it or not. (Tells a
little bit about the story in the poster)
Existing Product
• Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013 poster)
• The misty background showing that it wants you to focus on
the main character. The darkness can also show the
horror/slasher genre by how darkness can represent death.
• The title ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ shows that the film has the same
aspect as the original Chainsaw Massacre in 1974, but also by
the same main character, Leatherface, on the front cover
holding the chainsaw. The tag line ‘EVIL WEARS MANY FACES’
shows how he might take other peoples faces and put them
on. The release date ‘January 4th’ makes the audience more
aware of its release so they know when to look for the tickets
in cinemas.
• The way the character is stood shows superiority as the
camera is looking up at Leatherface making the killer look even
more scary. The chainsaw shows it as old and looks warn out,
making it look like it has been used a lot maybe showing that
he has killed a lot of people using the same chainsaw.
• The audience would want to watch the movie by the detail
that has been used in the poster and also by the movie name
as the audience will have an idea of what the movie is about if
they have seen any other Chainsaw Massacre movie or
Leatherface.
Existing Product
• The Purge: Anarchy (2014 poster)
• The white stars and stripes are used to represent that it is
about American politics. The tag line shows that the concept
of the film is because of the American population
• The main part of the poster has got people wearing masks
showing that there could be violence, as stereotypes say that
criminals cover there face up. Some of the people have got
weapons like a baseball bat.
• The background being dark shows how it is a sad day for the
American population because of what is happening. The
people in the background can show that maybe there is a gang
of people on there way to kill someone.
• The guy in the centre of the poster holding a gun shows how
he is prepared to kill anyone who gets in his way.
• The title having ‘Anarchy’ shows how there is something
political about the movie as well as all of the people who get
slaughtered.
Existing Product
• Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981 poster)
• The decapitated head shows that part 2 carries on from
the first movie as the tag line says ‘The body count
continues…’ meaning the amount of people who die
carries on. The head also shows it carries on from the
first as it was the killer Pamela Voorhees and that is her
head after she was decapitated. The jumper in front of
the head and the candles shows that there is a shrine for
the late killer.
• The audience would be confused about who did this to
Pamela as there was only one person who survived the
night and was taken straight to hospital so could not of
done this. This also makes the audience wonder who the
new killer will be in the franchise as the character in the
first has already died.
Existing Product
• Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 (1990 DVD
Cover)
• The black background shows how the character is evil since the
connotations of the colour black means they are a villain.
• The writing on the chainsaw says ‘The saw is family’ which
shows a little bit of the plot as you now can see that it was
originally his family who killed innocent civilians. It also
suggests that they class the weapon as a family member,
maybe its because it kills like the rest of there family.
• The mask which is just visible shows how scary he looks
making the audience more scared of his character.
• The tag line ‘he puts the teeth in terror’ shows how the movie
is horror
Existing Product

The close up of the saw blade shows blood on it showing more violence in the trailer. • The sharp objects coming down from the ceiling shows Jigsaws intelligence for his traps. • The puppet which comes out relating to Saw and also makes the movie look more creepy to scare his victims. • Pig face has returned to the movie once again showing the link to the Saw franchise.
  • 4. Existing Product • Friday the 13th (2009 DVD Cover) • The clothing of the main character makes him look scary because of how ripped his coat is in the poster, but by how he is carrying a machete with him. The hockey mask can also show how he is violent as hockey is a violent sport • The background shows the setting of the forest near Crystal Lake. You can also tell it will be good as there is a well known Horror producer who is producing the film. • The title has been included in red which connotes the amount of blood that will be included in the horror movie. • Not much writing shows how the killer never speaks but also that the fans are speechless because of how good it is. • It appeals to the audience as people can tell that it leads on from the original film in 1980 by what the title is and by the main character on the front cover of the poster, so they have an idea of weather they are going to watch it or not. (Tells a little bit about the story in the poster)
  • 5. Existing Product • Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013 poster) • The misty background showing that it wants you to focus on the main character. The darkness can also show the horror/slasher genre by how darkness can represent death. • The title ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ shows that the film has the same aspect as the original Chainsaw Massacre in 1974, but also by the same main character, Leatherface, on the front cover holding the chainsaw. The tag line ‘EVIL WEARS MANY FACES’ shows how he might take other peoples faces and put them on. The release date ‘January 4th’ makes the audience more aware of its release so they know when to look for the tickets in cinemas. • The way the character is stood shows superiority as the camera is looking up at Leatherface making the killer look even more scary. The chainsaw shows it as old and looks warn out, making it look like it has been used a lot maybe showing that he has killed a lot of people using the same chainsaw. • The audience would want to watch the movie by the detail that has been used in the poster and also by the movie name as the audience will have an idea of what the movie is about if they have seen any other Chainsaw Massacre movie or Leatherface.
  • 6. Existing Product • The Purge: Anarchy (2014 poster) • The white stars and stripes are used to represent that it is about American politics. The tag line shows that the concept of the film is because of the American population • The main part of the poster has got people wearing masks showing that there could be violence, as stereotypes say that criminals cover there face up. Some of the people have got weapons like a baseball bat. • The background being dark shows how it is a sad day for the American population because of what is happening. The people in the background can show that maybe there is a gang of people on there way to kill someone. • The guy in the centre of the poster holding a gun shows how he is prepared to kill anyone who gets in his way. • The title having ‘Anarchy’ shows how there is something political about the movie as well as all of the people who get slaughtered.
  • 7. Existing Product • Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981 poster) • The decapitated head shows that part 2 carries on from the first movie as the tag line says ‘The body count continues…’ meaning the amount of people who die carries on. The head also shows it carries on from the first as it was the killer Pamela Voorhees and that is her head after she was decapitated. The jumper in front of the head and the candles shows that there is a shrine for the late killer. • The audience would be confused about who did this to Pamela as there was only one person who survived the night and was taken straight to hospital so could not of done this. This also makes the audience wonder who the new killer will be in the franchise as the character in the first has already died.
  • 8. Existing Product • Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 (1990 DVD Cover) • The black background shows how the character is evil since the connotations of the colour black means they are a villain. • The writing on the chainsaw says ‘The saw is family’ which shows a little bit of the plot as you now can see that it was originally his family who killed innocent civilians. It also suggests that they class the weapon as a family member, maybe its because it kills like the rest of there family. • The mask which is just visible shows how scary he looks making the audience more scared of his character. • The tag line ‘he puts the teeth in terror’ shows how the movie is horror
  • 9. Existing Product • Halloween (1978 Trailer) • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHuOtLTQ_1I • The darkness of the trailer being set at night . • Starts of with what happens at the start of the movie. • Calling the killer evil shows how terrifying the movie will be. • The dead body with Judith Myers grave stone behind it shows the killer as a psychopath • The killers face has not been show as it hides behind a mask showing how he does not want to be seen. • The slow walk from the killer to catch up too Laurie Strode builds up suspense for the audience on weather he catches the injured victim. • Builds up suspense by not showing weather she escaped.
