Both main characters are in
the foreground on the
front cover.
In the background you
can faintly see people
stood on top of the
bridge, this might infer
that people are trying
to look for them.
The colour palette of the DVD cover
is overall quite dark however there is
some light right at the top, this could
be because there story maybe
started off quite dark and negative
but the small light infers that there
was some positivity in the film
You can tell from the
background that this film is
located in the jungle. The prop

By putting a celebrity on the front
cover this entices the audience as
maybe even if they are not
interested in the magazine or film
they will pick it up because they
could be a fan of the famous face

The colour pallete of this
magazine attracts people
to it as it is bright red, very
bold and hard to miss
The masthead on the
magazine is in a bold

the audience as by
putting different types

might help entice a

appeal to an audience as its

Because it is so

could be seen
as escapism as

Even though the settings are
very life like you can quickly
tell this is a crime game by
the props. For example
there is knives, guns, dead

You can also see in the
actual scene it is dimly lit
which just gives it more of
an eerie feel

16. The main character is in the
Centre of the film poster.
This is because this is where
your eyes are drawn to.
By putting the famous actor âJoaquin
phoenixâsâ name on the front of the
film poster will attract people because
even if people didnât know what the
film was about but saw their favourite
actor or actress on the front they
would more than likely watch it
because theyâre in it.
The background in the
film poster looks quite
dark and mysterious and
this gives us an incite to
what the film might be
like.
The title of the film is in a
bold font and is in a
contrasting colour in
order to stand out from
the background.
If you are familiar with the joker
the use of costume on the
poser will tell you what the film
is about even before you read
the title.
The fact that the film is being shown
in IMAX cinemas could give us an
idea of the budget of this film and
how popular it is.

criminal case soundtrack
super Mario bros soundtrack
Soundtrack to criminal case game
The soundtrack is just one continuous track playing over and over again The tone of the music in the soundtrack is quite
mysterious. It reminds me of a soundtrack that would used in the opening scene of a crime programme. I think it fits well
with the game as it has sort of an eerie feel about it.
There is a few different sound effects when you find the clues almost like you are checking something off a checklist.
However there is also a sound effect if you click the wrong object too.
Soundtrack to super Mario
This soundtrack is a lot different to the first one as it has more of an upbeat tone to fit the mood of the game. I think this
soundtrack is a bit longer than just one continuous track.
Again like the other soundtrack it has sound effects for different things you do in the game.
19. Research Summary
⢠What have you learned from your research?
⢠I have learnt from my research that a lot of the different film posters and magazine covers for example use a
lot of the same aspects. Some of these aspects include the same layout, they all have just one main image
and a bold title
⢠What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
⢠I will stick to a colour scheme when making my film poster and magazine
front cover
⢠I will follow the layout I saw in my research
22. Style Sheet
I have chosen to go for a green
colour scheme for my adventure
film. I think green is the most
common colour scheme as it was
the one that came up the most
This will roughly be the layout for
my video game. The purpose of
the video game will be to find
clues as to where the parents
could be in settings such as these.
At the top there will be a timer
and if you find them all correctly
in a certain amount of time you
can gain extra points
23. For my film advert this is the
sort of colour scheme I want.
I want to go for more earthy
tones as it is filmed in the
city, so colours such as blue,
brown,grey and white
This is the closest I could
find to the style of advert I
want to do. I want there to
be buildings in the back
and the two characters to
be in the foreground

25. Video Game layouts
The idea for my video game came from the game 'criminal case'.
Basically the aim of the game is to look around a scene, will look like
the picture on the left, and find clues as to where the womans
parents are. So basically it is a investigation game
26. Script
⢠The dialouge will be between a detective(you, the player playing the

⢠There will be various sound effects for different things such as when
you find a clue and when you moveonto a different level.

33. Using your plans, produce:
⢠A synopsis for your film
⢠A video game that would support your film, to include a menu screen,

⢠Sound track for the video game
⢠A magazine front cover, promoting the film
⢠Additional advertising to promote the film
Include synopsis, magazine cover and advertising in this pro forma.
Animation to be embedded in your blog.
38. Research
One strength in my research was that I researched and analysed a variety of different media
products for my project. For example I looked at the romancing the stone film poster, an empire
front cover, a criminal case scene, joker film poster and a grand theft auto poster. Whilst looking at
these some of the things I commented on were things such as, colour schemes, fonts, layout, mise
en scene and audience appeal. I then reflected all that I had learnt into my own research, for
example when researching I noticed the main colours used in the adventure genre was green earthy
tones and red and black colour pallete. So when making my animation I went for a very green and
earthy colour scheme, however when making my film poster and magazine I decided to go for the
red and black scheme to tie both aspects into my work.
Another strength in my research is that I feel like I analysed it in quite a lot of detail which made it
easier to take tips away from it and it also helped me know exactly what I needed to include to
make it look like the product I was trying to achieve.
39. One weakness in my research I feel was even though I did analyse at least one of every product I
should have definitely looked at more animation/video game products as this was the section I was
the least comfortable with as I had never done anything like it before and im not very familiar or
very into video games and animation so I had no clue, therefore I should have focused my resarch
on this
Another weakness was with my soundtrack I donât think I put enough detail into this part of my
research as I only covered a few soundtracks. Luckily when it came to making my own soundtrack
beepbox made it very easy. Eventhough I am not very familiar with video games I was still able to
recognise what fitted well and make a good theme song for my animation.
40. Planning
One strength in my planning was that I planned the layouts for my advert and magazine front cover
which always helps me get an idea of how I am going to set it out. I think ifi had more time for
planning I would have maybe included the types of images and coverlines I wanted to inclue just to
make it even easier when actually putting it all together
Another strength in my research was that right at the start i created a mood board which seems
a very simple thing however in the long run it was extremely beneficial as I had a vision of the
whole idea in one place, because of the mood board I was able to map out the story beginning to
end which helped decide what I was going to do for each product.
41. One weakness in my research was that I feel like I should have took more time planning what I was actually going to do
for each my poster, magazine and animation. Things such as images, location as when it came to especially taking my
images I struggled with what angles, lighting and costume I wanted. I still donât think I have completely mastered what
my model was wearing. That is another thing I should have considered in my planning, when I decided I wanted my
character to be a middle aged woman I should have took the time to think whether that would have been fully
achievable as all my options for models were my friends my age.â
Another weakness In my research was when planning my animation, I feel like I should have took more time out of my
planning to especially plan this. Firstly because I have never done any animation work before properly hence why my
animation took up the majority of my time during this project, I think my animation would have come out better if I
planned it more thoroughly it might have been abit easier and turned out better. In particular I should have spent more
time planning my cut scene as I didnât even really know what a cut scene was never mind how to make on so i wish I
wrote a proper script I could have stook to instead of just a rough copy
42. Time Management
I donât think my time management was my best but I think was purely down to working online and
not having the motivation, I also did not complete it on time as I had to use the half term to finish
off a few things. I feel like if I had more time my project would have been much better as half the
time I was just trying to figure out how to use the different software and therefore did not have
enough to time to put as much effort as I wanted. I also did not know how to use any of the filters
or effects on photopea and maybe if I had more time I could have worked out how to use them to
improve my work.
43. Technical Qualities
For my soundtrack I used beepbox to create every single sound that is in my game including the theme
song and all the sound effects as I found it so much easier to use than foley sounds as you can choose from
so many different sounds so I was able to create the perfect soundtrack.
Before creating my soundtrack I listened to various different soundtracks in order for me to create one that
fit well I feel like my sound does fit well and does sound a lot like a theme song for a video game would the
only thing I would change is I feel like my sound effects could have been abit more complicated in order to
make it better.
When planning my animation I based it mostly on the game 'criminal case' when making my soundtrack I
took a lot of inspiration from their soundtrack and effects in order to create mine.
44. Aesthetic Qualities
In terms of similarities between my products and exsisting products especially my magazine
cover there is quite a lot as when I was planning my magazine cover I based it heavily on the
empire magazine cover I looked at in my planning.
When I was designing my animation I was expecting it to turn out like the criminal case game I
was looking at, some aspects are similar and you can tell ive took inspiration from it however I
think If I had more time I would have been able to improve it massively.
I feel like my work is quite aesthetically pleasing especially my magazine and poster as they have
similar colour schemes, maybe next time to improve I could make sure my animation has a
matching colour scheme to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
45. Aural Qualities
When making my soundtrack I had quite a good idea of what it needed to sound like
and how it would suit the adventure genre.
I think in terms of my soundtrack it went well as from my research I think that
my sound effects and theme song is well suited to an animated video game as it is
quite catchy tune that i think would be quite memorable and easily recognisable
which would help with the advertising and marketing of my game.
One thing I would change would be my sound effects maybe as I feel like they are
quite simple however they do the job of what I wanted them to do. I think If I was
more familiar with the software maybe I would be able to achieve this or if I had more
time to get to grips with beepbox.
46. Audience Appeal
I feel like I have targetted my audience of 13-30 year olds as I think my game is pretty
straight forward and people of any age would be able to play it, however I also feel
like my film would be able to target 13-30 year olds as I think the plot isnt too
complicated to follow and would entice a lot of people in even if they werent too keen
on the aventure genre as its more light hearted.
47. Overall strengths and weaknesses of the final
package.
Overall I am very happy with how this project turned out eventhough I maybe didnât have all the software
I could have used. Although I feel like if my time management was better icould have possibly achieved a
higher grade as I felt as thoughi was rushing certain parts and I feel like this reflected in my work.
Also to say I have never made an animation before I am extremely happy with how it turned out
eventhough it is maybe not the best I am very happy with how much I managed to achieve.
