3. Theme Ideas
• Mystery: It is a common theme
used in Soap Opera to attract the
attention of the audience. It
successfully draws the attention
in as it makes the audience want
to find out more secrets that
could be exposed in the episode.
It also relates very well, to the
theme of our soap opera and the
tagline presented on the front
cover.
4. Tag Line
• “Where is she?”: The entices the audience as they will also
want to find out where the little girl is, and it could express
where the characters mind sets are, for example the wife
could be wondering where her daughter is and who too
her.
• “He’s out there somewhere, only time will tell”: paints a
clear picture of the sense of unknown. People know it’s a
man but don’t know who he is or where he is.
• “Who is the Kidnapper?”: This again lures the audience in
as it is asking them the question. This will make them want
to watch the show because of the attracting narrative with
the mysterious aspect to it. It is too the point and states the
story behind the poster.
5. Image Ideas
• Little girl looking frightened,
with the the ribbon from her
hair in the palm of a males
hand: this highlights the
overriding storyline. It really
dramatizes the danger that the
girl is in.
• Girl facing towards the downs.
Back of the head showing with
the bow present. Her face is
not shown. This suggests that
the girl is the innocent
bystander.
6. Synergy
• Synergy with Social Media: This will give us opportunities to expand
the marketing of our new Soap Opera Trailer and jump on the
wagon of online streaming. On my poster I will include logos to
promote other forms of media. For example I will have a Facebook,
twitter, magazine logos at the top of the page. Also there will be the
website for my magazine at the bottom of the page. This will
‘inform’ (Katz) the audience that our soap is on social media and
across the e-media platform. This makes it easy for them to go to a
social media website and find out more about the soaps.
• Synergy with your magazine: I will be using synergy with my
magazine because it will help the consumers find out where they
can get more information about the show.
• Point of Call Information: The point of call tells the reader when the
show will be on and which channel will airing it, and explains why
the poster is an essential product alongside the trailer.
7. Conclusion
• In order to move ahead with Ancillary Product 2 I need to take the
pictures which I will use for this poster. I will have to take multiple
images for the various different ideas that I have. I would need to
have the pictures of Zoe on Epsom Downs, which can be gathered
on the filming day. But I will also need the pictures of Zoe holding a
ribbon if I decide to do that design. These pictures can be taken
anytime in the near future when we start Ancillary Product 2. I will
need to look for specific props, which will most likely be similar to
the props that we will be using on the actual filming date, like the
red ribbon. For the poster I am planning to use the same font as the
title font, so there is no need for me to research different fonts to
use. I will use Adobe Photoshop CS5 in order to create the poster.
This is because Photoshop is a great image manipulation and design
software that I have a lot of experience in using from last year at AS
Level when I created by magazine.
