1. The key signifier is in front of
the masthead sowing that the
magazine brand is more
important/ well-known than
the band.
They are also using direct
mode of address in the image
to connect with the audience.
The wide range of colors used
suggests this magazine is
mostly aimed at teenagers
over 16/ people in their early
twenties.
The price of this issue is
$6.95/£2.50 so this magazine
is fairly affordable for most
teenagers who will probably
be getting pocket money on a
weekly basis.
Both band names used on the front cover have a quote from a band
member above them to intrigue the audience. They will see the band
and then the quote as it is a smaller font and want to no more about
the story as the quotes used re usually quite controversial and
attention grabbing.
The simplistic outfits make it easier to place sell lines overlapping the
key signifier as well as the other band in the sub image.
The contest in the top right is in a circular frame to draw attention
as the other texts have been placed I square or sharp shapes. The
prize is free concert tickets
so most teenagers will want to go even if they don’t
really know the band as it is a free night out
and could prove to be fun.
