2. MASTHEAD
The masthead is represented by the
characteristic letter V. The V is always
displayed on the background of the
contents page of Vibe magazine,
ensuring that it is instantly
recognisable. The V is a
representation of the Vibe company.
In this case, the magazine uses a
monochromatic colour scheme. This
allows for the V to match with the
black and white image of Kanye West,
highlighting the red heart in the
image as the only colour element.
THE MAIN IMAGE
The main image is a black and white
mid shot of the famous rapper Kanye
West, who has a female arm grabbing
a red heart shaped object which
could suggest women is trying to win
over his heart. As you can see the
image dominates the page making
him the main focus of the audience
as well as he is portrayed directly
addressing the audience. Kanye West
is also featured on the front cover of
the magazine meaning he is the main
feature of the magazine.
TITLE
The word Contents has been created
with a SANS SERIF black font which
hasn’t been written in one line but has
been split in three different lines. This is
a specific graphic feature that is original
and unique. All Vibe contents pages
display the word contents like this in
order to ensure a consistent and
identifiable graphic element that makes
the magazine’s contents page instantly
recognisable.
HEADING
Same as the word contents. There are
black bold sub headings which display
towards the reader what the main
areas of interests are featured in the
magazine. The font used for the sub
headings is fancy and styles which
then relates to the colour scheme
and Kanye’s clothes.
SUMMARY OF CONTENT
These are displayed under the
subheadings to show the category's
of which they cone under. The font
colour of the brief headings and also
the summary of the contents are
black and grey In order to stand out
and match the sub headings.

3. MAIN IMAGE
This main image has been
taken close up of the
famous rapper Wiz Khalifa.
He is a young Afro-
Caribbean male which
allows for many readers to
relate towards him. He is
wearing is black and
orange baseball cap and a
white shirt, colours which
have been implemented on
the text. This has been
done to keep the layout of
the magazine consistent
and show coherence
between image and text.
TITLE As you can see the of the article has taken the colour scheme of
Wiz Khalifa’s hat and incorporated it into the masthead. You can also
see the logo has taken up the initials of his stage name “Wiz Khalifa.”
CROSSHEAD
This is a sub heading
which has kept the same
font and colour scheme
as the title. This has been
done to allow for
consistency throughout
the double page.
BODY TEXT
The article starts with a drop cap B, bold and orange, in order for it to stand
out. This has been done to correspond with the K within the masthead. The
body copy font has been made small and san-serif in order to portray a more
modern look towards the magazine. This is the main body copy font which is
used across Vibe magazine. The content has also been split up into to columns
to make the text clear and readable.
