3. Masthead
The masthead is included into the contents page by
the big V in the background. It is a common
convention on most contents pages from this certain
music magazine and is always positioned on the top
left to help it looking consistent and therefore
professional. In addition it makes it recognisable.

whole black and white theme but to still stick out.
Main Image
For there main image, they have used a picture of
the rapper Kanye West as he is the main feature of
this months issue. It is a mid shot and has a arm
holding a hear coming over his shoulder. His angle of
gaze is straight at the camera to draw in the
audience and his face has a lot of attitude relating
him to the genre of R&B and rebellion. The fact that
his hands are in his pocket, he’s standing straight and
the image dominating the page shows how
confident and proud he is as a person and a artist.
He is wearing smart clothing to show he is worthy.

hand side of the page. The use of the black makes it stick
out on the page and is in contrast to the rest. They have
spilt the word into three as you can see. Even though it has
been separated, it can still be read clearly. This is a
common feature of most of the Vibe magazine so is a
trademark, making it clear that it belongs to them
