2. Initial Reaction
My initial reaction to this project is I am happy about the amount of freedom have be given under the
mediums of short film, video games, print and photography. With this freedom I think I am going to
follow the print route as this was my highest marking rotation throughout this year as well as it being
the most enjoyable topic. Within print I think I am going to focus on magazines and websites and I will
probably base my magazine on my interests which is gaming, technology and music. Throughout this
year my strengths have been in my web design which I used in the print rotation. Another strength is
the photography I h did for my magazine and website. This was fun and therefor made it easier to do
well on. My weaknesses throughout this year has mainly been time management and keeping to
schedules however I plan on overcoming this by creating a strict time plan and making sure I stick it
throughout the FMP.
As for hardware and software I intend on using, I have my own laptop that I will be bringing into college
which will allow me to keep all my work in a single location and means I can easily work on it at home. I
will also be using a camera for taking photos that I will use in my magazine and website. For software I
will be using programs such as Photoshop and InDesign as well as website building software that can be
found online.
Time management, as mentioned earlier, has been an issue in the past however with the right planning
such as a Gantt chart. I intend on creating a time plan that I stick to and follow closely to make sure I get
all the work completed by the deadline.
Looking back on all my previous rotations my production has definitely been the strongest area of my
projects with reflection being the weakest. Knowing this I will dedicate more time toward my reflection
and possibly work faster with production to make up on the time I will be spending on my evaluation.
For my FMP I think I am going to make a magazine front cover, double page spread and contents page as
well as a website to go along side the magazine. It will most likely be about gaming as this is what
interests me.
8. Mood Board Analysis
Throughout my mood board it shows little repetition however this is due to
the variety of games I have looked at. For example the difference between
Fortnite and Player Unknowns Battlegrounds visually is that Fortnite boasts a
very bright and vibrant, cartoon art style whereas PUBG has a dulled down
more realistic colour pallet. For my actual magazine style I will probably use
the stereotypical gaming colour scheme with a dark colour like a black or dark
grey being the majority of the colour scheme alongside a very bright vibrant
green, blue, orange or red. There is a repeated style with the CSGO player
profiles in that it is a waist up shot of a player which is what I want to
incorporate into my magazine and website.
My mood board will influence more my content than my magazine layout as I
already have a rough idea on how I want to layout my front cover and
contents page. The content I want to include in my magazine and website is a
mix of in game screenshots as well as photos taken by me of either big names
in the eSports scene or the peripherals used by pro gamers.
