1. Production Schedule
I’m going to be making 4 cards.
Week 1
Mon
- Set out the layout for all of my cards and save them all with the different names of the
cards.
To do this I will use Photoshop, this is because it’s quick and simple for me to use as I will
already know everything I will need to know in order to create my cards.
When making my card this will mean that I will have to open up a new black document, making
sure it’s set to A4 on International paper and pressing ok, after that I will need to change the
page to portrait or landscape, however the card is going to be, most likely landscape. Then I will
add my rulers so that I know where the middle of my page is and begin so set up the layout
using shapes (if needed). This will be done in the classroom, to make the layout of the page this
will take roughly half an hour.
HAVE A BREAK FROM THE COMPUTER
- Start changing the background colours on all of the cards so that they are ready for
production.
To do this I will use Photoshop, this is because it’s quick and simple for me to use and I will
already know everything about it and not have to learn new things. This will be being done in the
classroom.
When doing this it will be an easy task to do, all I will have to do is go around the parts that I
want coloured with the Lasso and Layer Via Copy it, this will create me a new layer so that I
can double click on it and change the background using colour overlay. This will take about 15
minutes for me to do on all of my cards.
Tue
- Start to add font on the front cover of all my cards.
To get the font that I want I will use a website called DaFont.com and Photoshop, to get the
fonts that I want I will download the fonts which are needed for my card so that they
automatically install to Photoshop so that it will be easier for me to use, this will mean just
clicking on the text tool and clicking where I want to be typing. To change the way that the font
is facing I will click on the box that should be around it when I’m typing and go on Edit,
Transform and Rotate. This will allow me to change the way that my font is facing.
This will also be being done in the classroom, to do this to my entire card collection this should
take roughly 2 hours.
Wed
- Start to add images on to the back of the cards.
To do this I will use Photoshop and images from Google Images. This will be a quick and easy
way for me to get the images that I want on my card and also an easy way to save them. To
make sure that they are of a high enough resolution I will have to click on the image it is that I’m
wanting and click on See full size image then right click on the image and go on Save as… and
save it to a place I know is safe and that I wont forget.
Once I have got the images that I want saved I will open them up in Photoshop along with all
the cards they are going to be on, I will then go to the tab that the images are on and go on
Select, all, Edit, and Copy, once I have done this I will then go back on to the tab that my cards
are on and go on Edit and Paste, this will drop the image on to the card so that I can place it
where I wish, I will then change the size of the image by clicking on it then going to Edit,
Transform and Scale. I will then change the Opacity so that it isn’t as bold and is faded out.
This will take around 2 hours and will take place in the classroom.
2. Week 2
Mon
- Add text on to the back of the card.
To get the font that I want I will use a website called DaFont.com and Photoshop. For me to get
the fonts that I want I will download the fonts which are needed for me to be able to make my
card so that they automatically install on to my computer and appear in Photoshop so that it will
be easier for me to use, this will mean just clicking on the text tool and clicking where I want to
be typing. To change the way that the font is facing I will click on the box that should be around
it when I’m typing and go on Edit, Transform and Rotate. This will allow me to change the way
that my font is facing.
This will also be being done in the classroom, to do this to my entire card collection this should
take roughly 2 hours.
Tue
- Add the Vegetarian Society logo on to the front of my card.
To do this I will get an image of the logo from Google Images and save it on to my desktop. .
This will be a quick and easy way for me to get the images that I want on my card and also an
easy way to save them. To make sure that they are of a high enough resolution I will have to
click on the image it is that I’m wanting and click on See full size image then right click on the
image and go on Save as… and save it to a place I know is safe and that I wont forget.
Once I have saved the image on to my desktop I will open it up in Photoshop, because when
you save images they sometimes have a coloured or white background as mine will I will then
have go on the Mask tool and select the parts that I would like to be on my card, once I have
done this I will go to Edit and Copy, this means that it will be attached to my clipboard ready for
me to put on to the card, to make it appear on the card I will have to go on to the tab with the
card wanted and go on Edit and Paste, this will drop the image on to the card.
If the size of the label is too small I will be able to change the size of it by going clicking on the
image and going on Edit and Scale, this will allow me to change the size of my card.
This will be being done in the classroom and will take about half an hour to do.
Wed
- Add additional information to the card.
Adding additional information means phone numbers and email addresses for feedback and
complaints, so to get these I would go to the Vegetarian Society website and get the
information that I need.
To do this I will go to Contact Us at the bottom of the page which will come up with all the
information that I need, to get them on to my card I would Highlight the information that I want
and right click, I would then go on Copy and Paste, then I will go back on to Photoshop and
right click then Copy and Paste again.
3. Week 3
Mon
- Checking everything is to a good standard on the card.
By this time I will have finished my card, so to prevent me wasting time I will check through all of
my card and make sure that its to a good enough standard as if it where actually going out to
people.
This will involve:
1. Checking spelling.
2. Checking the images doesn’t have any white spaces around it.
3. Making sure nothing is overlapping the other half of the card.
4. Checking nothing is hanging of the page, this will effect how the card is printed and won’t
look very professional.
5. Seeing if the images are of a high enough quality, this is needed as it says on the brief.
6. Making sure the font is big enough for people to read, this will make the audience at
ease when they are cooking the meals.
7. Making sure the font isn’t blurred.
8. Checking the brief and making sure everything wanted is on the card, this is important if
the job was real as it could affect sales, and future jobs.
9. Make sure that there’s a running theme, for example, font, colours and layout.
10. Make sure the design is individual and unique; this is also specified on the brief.
This will take around half an hour and will be being done in the classroom.
Tue
- Improving on things that could be made better.
This will mean correcting all the things that have been checked and seen as bad quality.
This will be being done in the classroom and will take a couple of hours; it will also be being
done in Photoshop.
Wed
- Check over everything again and do further improvements.
This will be being done on Photoshop and will take a day.
