Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Mortis
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
My target age range for my audience is older teens to young adults, around 17 to 25 years old.
This is because video games are primarily for a young audience, but the horror genre isn’t
intended for anyone who is younger than a teenager. My target audience’s social status is middle
class, as that is the largest amount of people, and most young people tend to be middle class. My
target gender audience is males because more men play video games than women.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Throughout the year, I have improved my skill in Photoshop. Experimenting in Photoshop allowed
me to learn keyframe animation, which will be useful for animating my game.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
The concept of my product is a 2D Horror RPG game. It will focus on telling a story and I will
research common themes and gameplay styles in this genre so I can ensure that my product is
original and also fitting to the genre. The gameplay will consist of a 2d sprite walking around a 2d
map and interacting with the environment. The art style will be pixel art. I will also research assets
that I will need, like music and sound effects – making sure I use ones that are fitting to my idea.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
I will evaluate my work by assessing the strengths and weaknesses of my production, and
examining what could have been improved. I will conduct on-going evaluation on each day of
production by keeping a production diary, and taking screenshots of my progress. This process will
help me improve my work in the future, as I will learn from the weaknesses of my product and
improve upon those weaknesses.
