4. The 5 Articulation Points
These are the 5
areas from which
the Arabic letters
are pronounced.
In order to
properly
pronounce a letter,
you must know
where it comes
from.
We will go through
each one
separately.
12. Rule: To know how to recite
Allah’s name, you should look at
the word before it.
If the word before Lafz Al-Jalalah
has a Damma or Fatha,
we recite the Lam in His name with
Full mouth (heavy)
If the word before Lafz Al-Jalalah
has a Kasra,
we recite the Lam in His name
with Empty mouth (light)
18. Rule:
To know how to pronounce the letter
“Raa” as heavy or light, we have to
look at the harakah on top of it or on
top of the letter before it.

29. Qalqala is when you give certain letters a vibrating sound.
This happens only when these 5 letters have a “Sukoon” on them.

31. What if a Qalqalah letter does NOT have a sukoon,
but it comes at the end of an Ayah or you stop on it?
Examples:
When we stop on a letter, we do NOT say the
harakah. We treat the letter as if it has a Sukoon.
Vibrate the last letters in these examples:
51. If you see a Noon Sakin or Tanween followed by an
Idgham with Ghunnah letter, you don’t pronounce the
Noon Sakin or Tanween and keep only it’s Ghunnah.
