Large font- short memorable masthead- catches attention + follows the ‘z pattern’. My Front Cover Cheaper price than most magazines- £2.00 an issue Bright colours – coral pink and turquoise stand out off black and white image Competition for readers to win free gig tickets as well as free posters to all readers = unique selling point and persuasive. Strong image with good eye contact grabs reader’s attention, Black and white compliments coloured cover lines and masthead but still radiates off the cover. Ticker allows readers to know more that’s in the magazine without even looking in. Use of ‘sweet-spot’ follows the ‘Z pattern’ the audience read in and hierarchy of text let readers know the most important cover lines Large black circle grabs the Readers attention to the Competition tickets a main Feature for readers to buy my magazine, so it’s important to get it noticed. ‘Women of music issue’ Special issue appeals to women audience- Unusual as most music Magazines = aimed at males.
Contents Page G:LOGontents page.jpg 5 dominant images medium- large, Of artists featured on the menu Strip, grabs the readers attention And persuades them to read on + gives An insight to magazine content without Even reading much. Simple menu strip not too much writing to put off the reader, informs them of content without looking through the magazine + the use of ‘Competitions, fan mail and puzzles and quizzes’ makes the readers feel like they’re being involved. Headline shows the focus On women in the issue , a ppealing to the female Audience. Use of hierarchy Of text highlights this Important feature and instantly grabs readers attention + same colour and font as masthead shows continuity and brand identity. White text on black background lifts the writing off the page and makes it more prominent. I used a simple layout to my contents page in order not to make it too complicated for readers, I tried to include enough content without making it too cluttered and all the features to clash. I followed the same colours as on the front cover such as the coral pink, black and white and bright blue, creating continuity for the readers to become associated with my magazine. Large white numbers on black boxes make the page numbers stand off the images, in order for the reader to find the page content quickly + the featured quotes for each image show a small aspect of the what the article will feature on the artists. Grey background makes e verything on the page stand o ut to the readers + the b oarder defines the page and draws the readers focus in to the content – these also follows house style
Double Page Spread G:LOGouble page spread.jpg Bright coloured ¾ image immediately grabs the reader’s attention and draws them into reading the a ccompanying interview. Sidebar and smaller image gives the readers a deeper insight into the featured artist. Dps title stands off the image and the use of ‘She’s shining more than ever’ fits in with the artists name of ‘Bright-Light’ and pulls in the reader’s interest in. Bold stand first gives the reader a small insight into the topics of the interview and convinces them to read it. Artist’s name is in a coral pink colour to highlight the most important feature to the readers as well as following the colour scheme used on both the front cover and contents page causing the readers to become associated with the magazine house style. The use of pull out quotes Quickly shows the audience a snippet of the article and is used to once again interest them in reading on. Use of equal column and gutter width makes the article easier to read for the audience and look more appealing. Use of drop cap draws The readers eyes to the Start of the article. Article is an interview with the artist, the use of bold for the q uestions, it flows and i s simple for the a udience to read. Also interviews are more personal and entertaining for the r eaders. Grey background and use of boarder makes the dps more appealing for the audience and follows the house style.
