On my mind-Jorja smith
Brief:
Brief: To shoot, direct and produce an original music video for an upcoming artist. Follow the
codes and conventions for the genre of my song and make sure to end up with a high quality
final product.
Aim:
To shoot a performance based music video to the song “On my mind” by Jorja Smith.
Description of your intentions:
The pace of the song is fairly quick, meaning that I will include a variety of shots in order for the
music video to be entertaining and engaging to watch. My aim is to make the music video look
old school and I will achieve this by editing the grain of the clips I will be shooting. Also I want to
make sure to manipulate time by including slow motion, reverse andother similar editing
techniques. As the song is a about teenage love and breakup , I want to make sure that the
narrativeand the final outcome will be original and not like every other music video out there. I
wish to include neon and bright coloured lights with other similar props. Also the performance by
the actors will need to be believable and inspiring, by portraying real emotions. I will be using a
variety of shots, such as : many close ups, mid-shots, long shots, deep focus andmany more.
The cuts will sync with each lyric in order for the music video to look professional and realistic. I
will attempt to shoot against a green screen in order to add an original element to the music
video.
Target Audience:
My target audience will be of the alternative fan base. This is because the song genre is
alternative therefore people whoenjoy the genre would be more likely to listen to the song and
watch the music video. However the song does also include many other sub genres such as
dance, house andgarage; this therefore means that other types of audiences will be attractedto
the song , widening the intended audience. Because of this I will have to make sure whilst
making my products to include elements which will attract also other types of audiences ,
making the music video much more successful as more people will be watching it.
