HOW EFFECTIVE ISTHE

PRODUCT AND ANCILLARYTASKS?

2. Introduction
When creating my music video and ancillary tasks, I have used a variety of images,
designs and people to link the three products together in order to successfully
represent my artist and the pop-rock genre.
3. • Firstly, I have used the same band members and characters to link my three products. Within my music
video the lead singer is shown through the performance shots, he is also the protagonist within the
narrative of the music video, besides an actress.Within the performance shots, I placed the lead singer in
front of a plain white background and made him dress in smart clothing, to separate the performance
from the protagonist. By doing this, I have not only linked the band to the music video, but followed key
conventions of my genre, as shown in music videos such as LANY’s ILYSB.
• The two main characters of the music video are also featured on the front cover of the digipak, which is
then shown on my magazine advertisement.This conveys to the audience that the album and music
video are by the same band.The members of the band ‘The HeartHeads’ are also featured on the front of
the advertisement and within the digipak, which allows the audience to recognise the band.
4. • Secondly, I have linked the three products by displaying the band’s name as a logo in a consistent font,
which will connote that the three products are made by the same band. I have also designed a graphic
image for the logo of the band, featuring a brain inside of a heart, which is displayed on both the digipak
and magazine advertisement.This will provide the band with an illustrated identification, which can be
recognised by their fans and used on merchandise etc., as a common part of the band’s marketing
package.
• I have also used black and white effect editing on all three of my products.The music video features black
and white shots, which I have used to connote memories within my narrative. I have also used black and
white images of the music video characters on the front of my digipak, which I have also shown on my
advertisement.The digipak also features black and white aesthetic images of plants and trees to connote
certain shots from the music video and follow pop-rock conventions.
5. Conclusion
In conclusion, through my music video characters, band members, my choice of
font, logo and editing style, I have successfully been able to create a coherent
representation and marketing campaign for my artist in a suitable style to attract
fans of the pop-rock genre.
