In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
A shot that shows a link between lyrics
and music visuals
• In this shot you can see there is a
clear link between meg breathing in
with the music visuals and the lyrics
meg is seen breathing in what looks
like ‘ chemicals ‘ whilst the lyrics say
breathing in the chemicals.
• We do this quite a lot In our video.
Throughout we make links between
visuals and lyrics for instance ‘ wave
your flag’ we had Sam waving a flag
Where we got our inspiration from
• Many music videos follow similar patters, for example in the video
wrecking ball by Miley Cyrus, there is quite litrally a wrecking ball
wrecking walls etc. But the actually video we got inspiration from to
do this was blurred lines by robin thicke
Know this is a link between text in a video
and its lyrics which I know isn’t quite the
same but what we have taken inspiration
from whilst watching it is its clear,
reputation and meaning. In the video
when blurred lines appears images in the
back do blur
A shot that symbolizes the way a record
company would want their artists to be
represented ?
• We felt that a record company
would want us to be seen in the
same light as we are in the
video, happy, smiley, colourful, ligh
t and in touch with what they are
doing. We feel that this can have a
sort of niche following of a slight
alternative indie/hippy group. This
video helps portray hippy and
alternative aspects of what
someone may do with their day.
We feel that a record company
would see these shots and would
be able to relate that to our
audience

Colour and dust colliding, the two
colours representing two different
people , yet colures immerge
together bringing unity of two people
closer.
• This video is very similar to ours
although th camera is a lot better,
this is a video directed by someone
called nick thomm and the song is
called colours by calvin harris,
being a big artist I feel that nick has
really brought out a meaning and
the feel of the song and I feel ours
matches it in the sense that both
songs have a similar feel although
on is dance and on isn’t, its
meaning and message has a similar
background
A shot that illustrates how your video
uses music genre ?

• Music genre is depict from the way it sounds, instruments used and beats per minute, but on top of that it can be shown
via its use of image and internal sound and meaning, in our video you can tel that it leans very much towards the pop,
and indie sound, two genres that are easily linked between colour and happiness, pop and indie music has a large
audience within teenage and a young adult demographic and with a name like radioactive you can see how in the video
the young actors seem careless, and are being radioactive in a metaphorical sense, letting off only happiness light and
colour. Drawing out its musical genre of indie/pop. It also has a very rocky element and sound showing something
different to the normal conventions used in some rock videos.
A shot that shows a inter textual
reference ?

This is a profile silhouette shot of guss with a light
behind his face creating the effect of a person singing
but with no understanding of facial emotion or
feeling, this is typical of its genre and can be found in
many other videos, a silhouette usually shows a solid
shape of a single colour, we were after black which
we nearly managed to do but found it a little hard.

Although it may not be clear this a siloutte of someone
dancing in an avicii song.

A shot that demonstrates your use of
camera

This is a close up low angle shot looking up at
Sam, this shows us trying to help portray the beat and
how we want people to look closer into it and its
colours, we also used it in lyrical reference ‘shaping
up’ in which you can see Sam is fit with larger
pectorals than some, so with this camera shot we are
demonstrating its main theme, a reference between
lyrical and visual audio and its beat.

This is a video by rudimental called free, here is a low angle
long shot of a women with a bird on a roof its message is clear,
the boy is bullied and is seeing how you can be as free as you
want, and that the sky is the limit
A shot that demonstrates the use
of lighting ?

This is probably the best shot we have that
demonstrates our use of lighting and different
methods uses, this shows two different lights being
used again creating a sort of silhouette, this helps give
a broader insight the surroundings of the video.

In will I am’s video th power lighting is used to help
create a cooler reflection but to also help show each
different position will I am is standing in, in this shot.
A shot that demonstrates the use of Miseen-Scene ?

In terms of mise en scene we wanted to keep all
colours the same and wanted to find a way of helping
the colours be part of the audiences eyes main focus,
do this we kept clothing simple and all black which in
turn helped colours to be shown ( as you can see on
toms t-shirt)

The mise en scene dress in this is seen as very 50’s with
old bands in the background with smart hats, its in back
and white as well which again a gives it that old
recording look, people are dressed smartly.
A shot which you feel demonstrates you
have watched other music videos ?

This actually shows how we watched the actual video
to radioactive as we adjusted and altered their idea of
hitting a drum, we actually have coloured dust coming
of ours where as in theirs there isn't.

The actual video in which he hits the drum and dust comes
off.

In terms of mise en scene we wanted to keep all colours the same and wanted to find a way of helping the colours be part of the audiences eyes main focus, do this we kept clothing simple and all black which in turn helped colours to be shown ( as you can see on toms t-shirt) The mise en scene dress in this is seen as very 50’s with old bands in the background with smart hats, its in back and white as well which again a gives it that old recording look, people are dressed smartly.
