BRIEF RESPONSE

1. INITIAL RESPONSE TO BRIEF – ALESSIA TERESKO
After reading what my A2 coursework brief was about, I straight away came up with many
different and interesting ideas, in order to show off and express my passion for filming and
music. Looking at the task slightly differently made me realize how I need to narrow down
my ideas and commit to certain features which I will be planning out in advance before
starting to shoot my music video. Having a well detailed plan
and a good starting point, will ensure that my final product will
be successful and meaningful.
The beginning of my final product will be choosing the perfect
song choice, which will allow me to fully express myself through
the use of different camera shots and the actors to use their
body language at their full potential. After a long time of
listening to different songs and researching different artists I
finally decided that my song will be ‘On my mind’ by Jorja Smith. I chose this song firstly
because it’s a very visual song, which means that I can replicate many of the lyrics, secondly
it has a good pace, as it’s not too fats nor too slow and this is very important as I will need
to make sure to have enough footage so that it has a correct flow and doesn’t look odd.
Lastly the song is perfect to express emotions, therefore my aim is to reflect the same
emotions which the singer is feeling.
The location for my music video is another very
important aspect. I decided to have multiple locations
which all have a similar feel and atmosphere so that
everything seems to fit in. The locations will be:
Southbank and Soho, a big room and lastly a studio. I am very excited to
shoot as these locations are perfect for the song choice and for the
performance of the music video.
My music video will be a performance based music video. The story will be about the life of
an ordinary teenage girl which broke up with her first love and how her best friends are
helping her to go through this stage of her life.
