2.  For our A2 portfolio we had 4 options to make
documentary, short film, trailer, and music video from
which I choose to make MUSIC VIDEO. The song I have
chosen for my music video is “BLANK SPACE” by
TAYLOR SWIFT. I choose music video from the four
various options is because I believe music is a diverse
platform that has a global feel with no language allowing
people from different parts of the world to come together,
connect and relate to one another in a number of ways.
To some, the beat of the music is the main inspiration,
while many admire the melodious lyrics. Nevertheless,
many people are able to enjoy and relate to the music
videos that accompany their favorite tracks. For me, it
looks like I have been in a strong relationship with music
since ages, A bond that strengthens every minute without
fail. Music is an integral part of my life.

As an insane lover
I choose these people as I was sure that they will be able to act
accordingly. Even though, they are not professionals and gave
several retakes for many scenes. The cast plays the most
important role in video as they are the representatives and it is
them from whom audiences is expecting everything.

4.  Ans. The genre of my music video is POP. Pop music
generally uses a simple, memorable melody and
emphasizes the rhythm, often with syncopation, and
stripped down to a basic riff or loop which repeats
throughout much of the song. Pop songs usually have a
verse and a chorus, each with different musical material,
well as a bridge connecting them in many cases. The
songs are often about love, or about dancing. Many pop
songs are also self-referential, talking about the
performer and referencing their own performance of the
song. The story of my music video is about a guy and a
girl who dated each other but due to the psychotic
behavior of girl the guy cheated on her.

5. CONVENTIONS OF POP
MUSIC VIDEO:
 Artists are clothed in fashionable, stylish and mainstream outfits.
 Artist are portrayed as happy, enjoying and content with life.
 The lyrics are normally based around love or relationships
 Often bands express the unity associated with teens, which is the
main target audience for this genre.
 Music genre is normally conveyed through the video dressing
and setting
 The songs usually include beats that are very dance-orientated.
 They stereotypically are associated with people in their teens as
many people in their youth enjoy partying and clubbing and
dancing, which is exactly what the purpose of pop music is for.
 A lot of the imagery created is base on sex or partying as this is
stereotypically what teens enjoy.
 Artist are expressed in a very sexual and seductive way, trying to
lure the audience in; very show/staged like. However current
artist choose to dress in provocative ways portraying a sexual
atmosphere.
 There are mostly bright colors, light lighting and lots of makeup
used in these videos and also tints and filters are used to boost
colors.

 In my video artist are
not portrayed happy.
 In my video I have not
shown anything like
dance, partying,
enjoying etc.
 Neither I have shown
anything sexual, and
seductive, the girl is
not wearing revealing
cloths like other pop
music videos.
 There is no sexual
atmosphere.
 I also did not used a
lot of makeup.

 The story of the video is
based on a love
relationship.
 Mostly the cloths of the
artists are bright in color.
 Pop videos are usually
performance based,
narrative based, or
concept based my video is

 I have also tried to shoot
in dim light and also used
a lot of filters in editing.

8.  The front of the digipak always have
close ups. Mid shots or medium shots
of the artist to enhance, promote their
identity and make them recognizable. I
have use this convention, the artist of
the song "Blank Space” is looking
direct in the camera.
 The main, bold, single word title of the
album ‘LUTANIC’ is essentially the
main focus and tells the potential
listeners the general moral and
meaning for the songs included.
 The picture illustrated on the front
panels tend to have some relation to
the songs or artist as I have used the
picture of the artist in the song.

9.  The back of the digipak has List of
songs, so that consumer would
know what songs are on the
album. There are 4 original songs
of the artist Taylor Swift and 3
feature song, in my digipak.
 The back of a digipak always has a
Bar code so it looks professional
and use for purchasing purposes.
 Again the main image and focus is
on the artist that re- instates their
importance and their creation of
the album.
 • Usually the color scheme for front
and back of the digipak is the
same, like in my digipak I have
used colorful background for both
front and back.

10.  The Homepage typically features things
like: • The artist’s logo and a menu bar/
Form of website .
 A picture of the artist (usually the one
featured on the cover of their latest album)
and a loop track of their songs.
 The website also includes artist bio, debut.
Their likes and dislikes, hobbies, and
information about their upcoming concerts
and future plans.
 On many websites, the primary photo is
one of the artist. This can be one photo,
possibly the one used on the cover of their
album, or a collage of photos from tours,
gigs and photo shoots used for the
promotion of their album.

11. The characters in my
music video shown, it
can be connoted that
they belong to the
middle class, as the
whole video is in the
simple house and some
shots outside the house
garden area. There is
no such use of
expensive props, VIP
locations , etc.
The music video shows
the life of average adults,
the video depicts the story
of a crazed girlfriend who
abuses her boyfriend. As
he was cheating on her
.The story of music video
further depicts that the
girls constantly have
relationship problems,
cheated on by different
men's, however no such
bad side of a adults life is
seen for example,
clubbing, drinking, skin
show clothing, sex etc.

13. A popgenre usually attractsteenagers
and young adults.
Where as kids and old age people
would avoid it.

14.  Ans. 'Branding' is considered as an important element in
success of a media product. After completing all our shooting,
it took a long time to edit the video from first rough cut to the
final cut on Windows Movie Maker and Filmora to create one
continuous piece by joining several shots together. Choice of
color for digipak and website is extremely important when it
comes to creating a sense of branding because it needs to be
attractive and to distinguish to the audience. The brand
identity of my artist is created throughout all the pieces of
media I created , in order to understand an artist’s brand
identity I conducted research on existing. artist and informed
this into my work..
A BRAND is sum of all the feelings, thoughts and recognition (positive or negative), that
people in the targeted audience, associates with a product. It is a type of marketing that
appeals to all the senses in relation to the brand.

15.  In order to make the brand identity of my artist noticeable, I
kept the same color scheme running throughout my
production. As my music video is quite colorful, full of
energy the audience need some kind of attraction to get
their attention on music video that is provided by digipak of
music album and website which is full of colors. My digipak
and website represents a lot of colors and design which
means that the singer is the art herself. It is also linking with
song which is again an upbeat and a high tempo song. The
effects on the pictures of artist on my digipak are also
linking with the song as it represents the madness of the girl
which also can be seen in the video. Furthermore the name
of album LUTANIC is again creating a sense of branding as
it represents the insanity of the girl which is also shown in
the music video. As you can see from the images on the
next slide each product has the same color scheme .

17. To advertise further I have created merchandise like cups,
shirts, phone covers, wallpaper of the singer which are also
available on the website.

18.  Ans. My product will engage with audiences as it is a pop music
video based on public likes and interest, and entertaining video
which will attract people merely interested in music. Pop music
aims to appeal the general audiences rather than to a particular
sub-culture or ideology and emphasizes on craftsmanship rather
than the formal artistic qualities . As far as the music video is
concerned, it would capture the eye of the audiences for several
reasons. Firstly, because of the lyrics, as the lyrics are about love
and are very convincing, the music video basically is to make the
audience smile and push them down to the memory lane.
Different filters, bright color clothes, creativity, and the story of
the song makes the video stand out more and also appeals the
audiences. The costumes for actors in music video are
fashionable , this makes them relatable and liked by their youthful
target audience, as fashion is important to them.

19. My song will attract teenager and young adult audience
because I have very much kept the choices and ideas
of the spectators in account. As pop genre is one of
the most popular genre and chosen by most of the
people, as shown in the chart.

20.  DIGIPAK:
The cover of the digipak has a hidden meaning,
which would make the audience curious to what is
the album about and they want to listen it. As the
list of the song mentioned on digipak are mostly
about love , relationships , etc. As for audience,
the album cover and photo in particular has been
used to attract the younger, who are most likely the
main buyers of the album and songs.
 WEBSITE:
Website is also important which will attract the
audience as it has all the particular information
about artist, their history, concerts, photographs
etc. Audience can also buy the CD from the
website along with the merchandise items.

22.  As the music video is low budget production I don’t
see a distributer getting involved. Therefore I will do
the marketing and distribution by my own self.
 I will use my personal contacts and social networking
platforms such as face book, daily motion, YouTube,
tumbler, twitter, Musical.ly, etc for the marketing of
my video as these sites have millions of users and
are convenient for the marketing of the video.
 With the help of my family and friends I will publish
posters of digipak cover.
 As I have also created an artist website so I will do
the marketing on the website as well with album
cover, photograph from song, artist pictures etc.
 Will also upload short teasers ( between 5-6
seconds) and behind the scenes on social
networking sites for the more popularity of song.

24.  Ans. The equipment I used to shoot include
NIKON D3300 with a basic kit lens 18-55mm,
SONY HANDY CAM (for few shots) and a tripod.
The task this year was not only to make a music video, but we also
had to make a “WEBSITE” and “DIGIPAK” which was really difficult
and time consuming.

25. For editing my music video I have used WINDOWS MOVIE
MAKER and FLIMORA I have used a lot different effects,
transitions, overplays, and split screen which can be seen in
my video. Both the software's are user friendly and easy to
use, but I still have invested a lot of time in editing my video as
there were a lot of variations.

26. I have used NIKON DSLR D3300 for the photo shoot for my
digipak For editing, I have used Adobe Photoshop CC for the
front and back for my digipak. I’ve used different tools such as
liquidfy, tiles, for the disintegrate effects as seen on the front of
the cover. For the back, I used glow black, tiles to give a funky
look. How to use Photoshop was not an easy task for which I
had to watch some YouTube tutorials.

27. Making a website was bit challenging as I have
never ever created a website before. I used
wix.com for making my website, it’s a software that
made work really very easy by giving step by step
directions.
