Purpose of the speech of
introduction
To introduce a speaker and/or to present a topic
area that a speaker or series of speakers will then
address in detail.
Main Goal
To gain the attention and arouse the interest of the
audience. Your speech should pave the way for
favorable and attentive listening. The speech of
introduction is basically informative in nature.
Guidelines for Speeches of Introduction
Establish the Significance of the Speech
Establish Relevant Connections
Stress the Speaker’s Credibility
Be Consistent with the Main Speech
Be Brief
Don’t Cover the Speaker’sTopic

Few points to remember
Don't talk too long. Keep your introduction to between 45
seconds to 3 minutes.
Do not to include something that may be controversial or
potentially embarrassing, unless you ask them first.
Ask the speaker what he or she would like you to say in
their introduction.
If possible, find out what the speaker plans to focus on in
advance.

A thank you speech is a short public speech, which
serves to express gratitude for something that was
presented/offered.
