Romeo And Juliet s True Love
The definition of true love according to Dr. Neder, caring about the health, well being, and happiness
of another person to a greater degree than your own health, well being, and happiness. Some people
may argue that Romeo and Juliet s love is true, but I disagree. Let s dive into the evidence of why their
love isn t true. For starters, Romeo and Juliet only like each other s looks. They only ever describe
each other s appearances, and neither mention that they care for anything but the other s looks. Looks
do not define a person. A person should be judged by their personality and ability to put someone s
well being above their own. After Romeo kills Tybalt, Juliet says, When thou didst bower the spirit of
a fiend in mortal paradise of

The Genocide In Rwanda
Rape itself is a sensitive topic, although it was desensitized by the Hutu men after they raped
approximately 250,000 women (Brysiewicz et al. 2). The genocide in Rwanda was devastating,
causing problems with deeper roots than a normal war. Not only were there upwards of 1 million
deaths, a whole community was destroyed and corrupted by HIV/AIDS. Rape was such a driving
force of the genocide because the Tutsi women were sexually sweeter, and it allowed the community
to feel destroyed (Brysiewicz et al. 3). Rape babies serve as constant reminder of the tragedy; the
effects are everlasting and people slowly died from HIV/AIDS, as well as social isolation. This source
explains the genocide, why it happened, the causes of it, and an overview of ... Show more content on

When a women is raped in their culture, she loses her virginity which leaves room for other people to
assume they are a slut or do not appreciate modern marriage. Social isolation occurs among these
women and their life is practically ruined (Brysiewicz et al. 3). Men look down on women who are
infected with HIV/AIDS because they are unclean. They would not want to run the risk of getting
infected as well. Many Rwandan men also do not appreciate condoms as much as people in other parts
of the world. When they marry they want to have kids and want sex to be a sacred thing when they
first marry, as that is a common custom in Rwandan culture. Also, many of the rape victims had
children as a result of rape. This restricted them even more to marrying because that had to care for a
child and the male would have not liked that the child was not

Similarities and Difference of Japan and Western Europe Essay
Similarities and Difference of Japan and Western Europe
Both Japan and Europe were politically similar for many reasons:
Each strove to maintain a centralized government. For Japan the leader was to be called an emperor or
empress who could only be a part of the royal family if they were related to the Shinto sun goddess.
As for Europe, the leader was to be called a king or a queen. Like Japan, not just anybody could
become royalty. Kings and queens came from a long descent of an Imperial family. Tradition was that
the first born son of the king would become the next ruler following the kings death. However, if no
legitimate son were born then the daughter would become queen. In Europe, the royal family and
institution was usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both Japan and Europe the elegance of the royal courts has never been matched to this day.
Great elegance and refinement marked life in Japan and Europe s capitals. In Europe and Japan great
castles were built marking the capital of each separate country. The royal families promoted the arts,
medicine, and science. One of the most memorable of European castles lies just outside of Paris,
France. The Palace of Versailles built by King Louis XIV in the seventeenth century. In Japan
however, the funerals of the emperors and empresses was more memorable. Kofun Mounds were
mounds of earth piled over their ruler s graves. The largest keyhole tomb measured 486m in length,
305m in width, and 33.6m in height. It was provided for Emperor Nintoku.
One of the major differences between Europe and Japan was colonization:
As individual European countries scrambled to gain more territory to add to their Empires, Japan
feared the changes that visiting countries brought. When other countries visited Japan with imports to
trade they also brought with them a new religion, Christianity. Japanese Emperors feared the chaos
that a new religion would bring and decided to shut the rest of the world out. Only the Dutch were
allowed to trade with the Japanese as a need remained to be informed of the rest of the world and
medical advances.

Patent Indirect Infringement Of Patent Infringement
1.Introduction
Patent indirect infringement,as the name implies,is opposite to patent direct infringement.
Generally, the conception of patent indirect infringement is to meet the need of pantent protection. It
expands the protection domain of the patent right to the no patented products, improves patent
protection s horizontal and provides sufficient legal protection for patentees.
Nowadays, more and more countries ordain the system of indirect infringement in their patent laws in
order to protect the patentees effectually, and the system of indirect infringement has become a full
blown law operating mechanism in the protection of patentees. But so far it is not prescribed in
Chinese patent law. However, as China is more and more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Case Description(Actavis V Liily [2015] EWCA 555 (Civ))
In June 2015,Eli Lilly won a patent case to Actavis in the the Court of Appeal in London. The case
was about Lilly s key blockbuster Alimta lung cancer drug, which was granted a Patent (EP 1 313 508
B1) on April 18 2007. The decision of the Court of Appeal overturned the decision last year in UK
high court, and would also apply to France, Italy and Spain.
At the first instance, Mr Justice Arnold used the improver questions to decide that there was no direct
or contributory infringement of using generic products containing pemetrexed diacid, pemetrexed
dipotassium or pemetrexed ditromethamine. In that decision, Mr Justice Arnold relied on the
prosecution history of the patent and concluded that during prosecution of this case, Eli Lilly had
narrowed the claims

Descriptive Essay On The County Fair
This is going to be the best night of our lives! Judy exclaimed as they walked up to the fair. Her
excitement was felt by the rest of her comrades, who could not help but be swept up in the feeling.
I can t wait to see all of those other ban , Joe whispered sadly as he gazed upon the fifty other up and
coming groups.
But we may still have a shot. Good thing we have those instruments in the bus, Janet interjected.
I have a good feeling about this, commented James with a smirk. He was up to something.
It was the hottest summer on record; even the locals were shocked at the sweltering temperatures and
the lack of rain in their small Southern town. Older generations sat around the air conditioner, telling
stories of how it hasn t been this hot since August of 59. However, Judy did not care about the drought
that was plaguing her hometown or about how there was not any ice for sixty seven miles. The lead
guitarist was losing feeling in her fingers, getting cramps in her legs, and wishing like she had during
Christmas season. She was preparing for the most important event of her favorite season the county
fair.
Filled with vibrant colors, the aromas of funnel cake, and squealing kids on carousels, the Partridge
County fair was everyone s favorite event. It boasted fifty contemporary music groups with talented
vocalists, guitarists, and banjoists. However, there was one problem with the fair. Groups were

A Major Measure Of Biological Fitness
A major measure of biological fitness in a population is the fecundity, or reproductive success rate, of
female organisms (Berger et al, 2008). For insects in particular many factors influence the number of
eggs produced during the lifetime of a female. One key factor in insect reproduction is the ambient
environmental temperature. Insects are ectothermic and therefore rely on their environment to provide
the heat needed to carry out normal reproductive functions. Ambient heat dependence for insects has
been thought to have a greater effect on fertility success than other contributing factors such as
increased female body size. Studies by Berger and others have shown that the European speckled
wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria, can only reproduce in the temperature range of 8°C and 14 °C even
when controlling for larger female body sizes. The findings of the study suggest that temperature can
limit insect reproduction in two specific ways. First, the development of the egg may be inhibited by
temperature ranges that are outside the preferred range of the insect. Second, the female s range of
time she is able to lay eggs is reduced when the temperature of the immediate environment is not
conducive to the survival of her offspring (Berger et al, 2008). Thus, temperature is a paramount factor
when considering the success rate of many insect species.
Other studies have shown the importance of temperature on reproductive success of certain insects
and the implications that

Metaphors In Poetry
M S Essay
Hope is the thing with Feather , by Emily Dickinson, and The Path not taken , by Robert Frost,
are poems that skillfully use metaphors and symbolisms to emphasize the theme of how hope and
decisions have a considerable impact on our lives. While hope allows us to conquer difficult moments
that life throws at us, decision also plays an important role in our lives, for it determines what path we
will go and determines our future.
Robert Frost created a poem about the journey of life. The diverging road in the yellow wood is used
to symbolize a person s life. It symbolizes the different paths that people will encounter in their lives
and suggest the different life people are going to have when choosing different paths. In the poem, ...

With the use of metaphor and symbolism, the theme is easily developed. Hope is a word that delivers
an abstract meaning of what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best . The image
of a bird perches in the soul and sings the sweetest gale both suggests how hope is the necessary
inspiration human s need in life to motivate them. Hope stays alive in human s mind, with inspiration
and motivation never stop[ping] . Although the song it sings is without the word , the message it
delivers can always be felt. Hope is also strong and undefeatable; it sings its songs in the chilliest land
and strangest sea and can only be destroyed by the sorest storm . It experiences all circumstances and
is always there to overcome problems. Aside from all the help hope provided, its help is also
unrequited, for it has never asked a crumb of me (15). While hope helps human to overcome suffering
in their lives, The Road not taken implies the theme of the importance of making choices since the
choice one makes will change one s whole life. It is true that many regret not taking the other choice,
which is the road not taken in the poem, but humans will realize that the choice they choose
determines their identity. The narrator knows that his choice will make all the difference since the
destination each road leads to will be totally different. When facing two equally attractive choices, it is
even harder to make a decision. The narrator struggles with letting go and he even thinks about saving
the road not taken for another day. However, once a choice is made, there is no turning back. Ages and
ages hence , the narrator looks back and tells his decision with a sign and regrets his decision of taking
the road less traveled by , it is the road he took that has

A Study On Corporate Ownership And News Bias
Martin Gilens and Craig Hertzman at Yale University, have conducted a study on the Corporate
ownership and news bias through the newspaper coverage of the 1996 Telecommunication Act
addressing the claim: Financial interests of corporate owners lead America s news bureaus to
downplay the significant issues surrounding the growing concentration of ownership of the country s
mass media (Martin and Hertzman, 2000.) These researchers affirm that it is impossible to think of
any democratic society deprived of the mass media because in such utopist environment the citizens
would miss the information they need to evaluate the desirability or undesirability of public choices
and assess the value of political leaders and social conditions. They state that the essential role of the
press is what leads critics to wonder about the danger derived from the mass media concentration.
Their case study focuses on one part of the 1996 Act that specifically removed restrictions on TV
stations ownership with the result to benefits companies that already owned many TV stations at the
disadvantage of those that did not. They underline that the similarity of interests in the conglomerate
has reduced diversity in the news and enhanced self interest bias. The conclusion of this serious study,
performing multivariate analysis tests, of which the researchers provide exhaustive data, translates to
the relevant issue of a systematically slanted press aimed at improving its own business rather than

How Is the Relationship Between Stephen and Isabelle...
How is the relationship between Stephen and Isabelle started and developed in Part one of Birdsong?
Part one of Birdsong begins in France 1910 which involves young Englishman Stephen Wraysford
coming to Amiens to learn more about the textile industry and to stay with the Azaire family. This sets
the context and is relevant as it is a period of industrial and civil unrest. The novel is written in the
third person and Stephen s presence allows for an outsider s view of the family with him not stating
his opinion and being neutral between sides. From the start there s a mutual attraction between
Stephen and Isabelle. Stephen finds this in some assets of Isabelle s character firstly when Isabelle
comments on a beautiful piece of music she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrative then shifts to how he describes her and his feelings of her in his notebook, they are
summed up in a single word Pulse . Stephen s growing attraction towards Isabelle become
increasingly apparent with his awareness of the way she moves and noticeably how she eats and
drinks. Her white hands seemed barely to touch the cutlery when they ate at the family dinner table
and her lips left no trace of their presence on the wine glass . Isabelle s suppressed emotions are
connected with her position as a bourgeois woman. Stephen s attempt to get closer to her when finding
her in the garden highlights why she acts with restraint. The language reiterates this earlier in the text
before Stephen has a relationship with Isabelle she is referred to as Madame Azaire. Isabelle greets
Stephen as Monsieur on his returns from work. She asks him to respect her position when Stephen
takes her hand in his in the garden. She is seen to react in accordance with her social standing. Without
regard Isabelle offers little in the way of resistance when he takes her hand. However these thoughts
come from Stephen s perspective and there are little insight given into Isabelle s emotions. The theme
of desire is broached and made relevant as Stephen sits opposite Isabelle on the boat on the return
home from a trip to the water gardens. As they touch each other and do not move away, his desire for
her is heightened. Isabelle s

Traditional Method of Squad Numbers
Squad numbers at the back of player s backs were first used on August 25, 1928, in a match between
Wednesday (now Sheffield Wednesday) and Arsenal. From then on, until as late as 1993, squad
numbers were assigned according to the position on the field that the player played on a match day
and were usually ranging from 1 11 for the starting line up and from 12 16 for the substitutes. The
following was the traditional method of squad numbers: 1.Goalkeeper 2. Right full back (right side
center back) 3. Left full back (left side center back) 4. Right half back (right side defensive midfield)

have worn the number reserved for the right back of the team. He surely was one of the greatest to
have worn this number. He played in a long career spanning almost 19 years where we saw the elder
of the Neville brothers showing his maturity and stability in the game, one that any defender requires.
His edge in this field earned him the captain s armband after Roy Keane s exit. His healthy sprints and
bent in crosses from the right wing were always a boon for the team, may it be in the form of a
assistance to David Beckham on the wing in the earlier days, or for assistance to the hungry strikers in
the box. He announced his retirement earlier this year, starting almost a competition for his position in
the team between another set of brothers, the da Silva twins, Rafael and Fabio, who have both shown
their worth throughout the season, fighting each other for that spot in the starting line up. #3 Patrice

scene almost immediately, thus, cementing his position on the left back side of the field. Inspired by

The Comic Book Maus
In the comic book Maus, Art Spiegelman shows the readers what people endured during the Holocaust
terror. Art mostly spoke about persons of Jewish descent. He utilized great imagery, and characteristics
to allow readers to get a mental image and painting of the immense pain and suffering Jews endured
during the Holocaust. His use of symbolism of mice and cats helped to show how Jews were just
pawns, and experimental factors to Germans. Art allows for the reader to see how terrifying and
horrific it was for Jews to live through the senseless racism, and harsh living conditions. These camps
were like a living hell, full of deceit, hate, guilt, and survival of the fittest. If one were to read Maus ,
and fully look at the words , and paint these pictures they would noticed how the Holocaust just wasn t
a tragic period of time , but it had a lasting mental effect on any individual who survived those terrors.
Throughout Maus, it was vividly painted how awful it was to kill so many innocent lives, and treat
them like animals, and second class citizens. This is why Spiegelman chose the specific type of
animals he did to help symbolize the slayings. He chose mice, because majority of time mice are
mistreated and experimented with without any say so. Pigs were representation of the Polish people,
because they supposedly had a stench. They were under the rule of the dictator Hitler. Polish people

A Contract Is An Agreement Between Two Or More Persons,...
A contract is an agreement between two or more persons, and is voluntary within Scots Law. It is one
of two types of obligations, the other, a Promise. To form a contract, all parties entering must have the
capacity meaning they must be sane under the terms stated within the law. Those entering must be
fully aware of what they are undertaking, having a sound understanding of the contracts terms. A
contract has two principles that must take place for it to be finalized an offer and an acceptance. One
of the parties makes the offer to the other to enter a legally binding contract under offerors terms. The
offeree (party receiving the offer) must agree to the stated terms for a contract to be formed, if they do
not and attempt to change any terms then no contract is formed. If both elements do not take place,
then under the law no contract has been formed. Multiple offers with different terms can be made
before any acceptance is given, most likely because the parties are trying to come to an agreement of
the contractual terms. For a contract to be formed, there must be consensus in Idem, Latin for a
meeting of the minds all important elements of the contract must be met during this. All parties must
be aware of the same things and to carry out their side of the contract. The parties must fully
understand that by entering the contract they agree to being bound by the terms of the contract. An
objective test would be used by a court to determine if there has been a

Iago Quotes In Othello
Be careful who you trust, the devil was once an angel. (Unknown). Honest Iago, good Iago, many
names for the character who created so much chaos throughout Shakespeare s classic tragedy Othello.
Iago manipulated everyone; he went out of his way to destroy Othello s relationships with
Desdemona, take everything from Rodrigo, and the effort to destroy Cassio.
Othello had much respect towards Iago and put much trust into him. Iago was very good a hiding his
true intentions to take down Othello s relationship.
After some time, to abuse Othello s ear

Little by little Iago was able to push Othello to the point where he was no longer the person we saw at
the beginning of the play. Othello killed Desdemona because he though Iago was his friend and would
never lie. Iago was a very toxic friend since the start and knew exactly how the story would end
because he had everyone wrapped around his finger.
Rodrigo was another victim that payed for Iago s wrath towards Othello, envy towards Cassio, and
overall greed for money and power, all of which are deadly sins. Iago charmed Rodrigo with the idea
that he could have his one true desire; the fair Desdemona. Iago never cared for Rodrigo and though
he was pathetic as did the audience because he was constantly whiny. Rodrigo was also gullible and
very desperate to win Desdemona s affection. In act 2 scene 3 Rodrigo is very emotional over that fact
he feels he will never get Desdemona because Iago is not giving him results and ends up saying I will
incontinently drown myself. . Iago again out of self need helps Rodrigo so he will not kill himself. The
reason he stops Rodrigo is because he is the source of his money, and he knows he will need him in
the future for his plan. He does end up becoming part of his plan in helping destroy Cassio, but
Rodrigo dies at the hands of Iago so that Iago would look like a hero and the one person who knew his
plan is dead. Iago is a master of manipulation and which lead to Rodrigo ending in a very unfortunate
situation.

Many smaller communities in the United States are already utilizing telemedicine to great advantage
(Burchill, 2010).Although telemedicine is a great way to deliver quality healthcare in a timely fashion,
there is also a downside to the procedure as well. Telemedicine will in some way hinder the face to
face communication between the doctor and patient that is vital in reducing errors. Most patients have
a better understanding of what is expected of them when it is communicated clearly and effectively by
their physician. Communication is the process of understanding and having meaning (Du Pre, 2005.)
and it is also the process of relaying information between people by the use of words, letters, symbols,
or body language (Sallee Forrest, 2005,). In my opinion I feel that telemedicine will decrease the
moral as far as the Dr. and Patients are concerned. Although telemedicine may decrease a portion of
the healthcare cost by less visits to the doctor, it will lose the value and importance of actually sitting
down and talking with your doctor and receiving that one on one face to face time. Most patients are
not even in tuned with technology and this can result in many errors and communication issues. What
role do you plan to have in the industry? I think once I have entered the healthcare industry I will play
a vital role in implementing fair but tough decision making when it comes to delivering efficient,
friendly, quality healthcare. I feel that I

Why People Use Words Like Bomb
On Wednesday, you brought up a topic the piqued my curiosity. The statement was, Why do people
use words like bomb and such for things that are groovy (Mrs.Bevan). I found this to be a very
interesting topic so I did some thinking and came up with these following explanations.
A persons Vocabulary skill level is very low and he or she resorts to common slang words. However,
this is very unlikely because most people are educated enough to know the difference between a
sophisticated word and slang.
Some people feel the need to change their character or attributes to fit into what they assume is the
cool section of society. They don t know that by doing this they are actually hiding away their natural
characteristics. This seems like a more plausible outlook on the situation because in this day and time
people are more focused on how society sees them rather than focusing on ... Show more content on

In government class Mrs.Campbell shared a quote that stated that relates to this, People are naturally
born good, but society is corruption (Rousseau). Where their once was a time when language was an
art to emit your emotions and feelings, it has slowly evolved into a less meaningful medium for teens
to express themselves. This option seems to be the most plausible one as it also explains why teens
seem so nonchalant when using words like bomb to express something, since they have learned from a
culture that approves of it.
Another topic that interested me in this past week was the poem that we spoke about in class. What
really interested me about the poem was the idea of metaphysical conceit. I truly understood the
connection the poet was established between a compass and the love two individuals share for each
other. The way the poet explains the intricate connections that can be shown in love through
spirituality and loyalty instead of lust, struck a cord in my

Room 127 Quotes
The best thing to give someone is a chance. If someone makes a mistake then you should forgive him
or her and start over, and over and over. In Things Change forgiveness is all Johanna knows. No
matter the mistake she always gives Paul another chance, even when it becomes difficult, harmful and
deadly. I can describe the importance of room 127, a memory, the firebird as a safe and deadly place,
and chocolate chip ice cream as an apology. Room 127 is a room full of despair for Paul. In that room
is where he goes to be alone, to think, to be like his father. Room 127 holds nothing more than
memories of a pathetic man and a computer, which Paul uses to talk to him. The computer holds many
letters that say everything about Paul s life, everything his father never got to hear from him or
experience because of his death. Paul uses the computer and those words for a sense of closure, telling
his dad what he though of him and all of the mistakes he made, while he drinks his sorrows away just
like his father. Leaving Paul was one of the worst things his father could have done, following the note
that he left: Dear Paul I am leaving, please tell your mother. Everything is going to be okay. Trust me,
Dad (Jones 162). Now all he has left to remember his father is his not so okay life, room 127 and his

The Degradation Of Solar Cell
Solar Cell Degradation in Space Abstract:
This paper will present the degradation of solar cell performance when exposed to solar wind in space,
particularly in the Van Allen belt region. Also, solar cell theory is mathematically modeled and
described using Matlab simulation software accompanied by the SRIM software to generate the
targeting data. Follow with the degradation modeling of Si, InGaP/GaAs/Ge triple junction space solar
cells when are exposed to high energy charged particles, especially protons and electrons in the Mega
electron Volt range. In this model, carrier removal rate of the base layer and damage coefficient of
minority carrier diffusion length in each sub cell are considered as radiation degradation parameters.
In addition, this paper will present the status of high radiation resistant solar cells made from Si,
InGaP/GaAs/Ge for space application to guarantee the successful operation of the satellite.

An interesting book I discovered in the library, which is appropriate in regards to this class, is titled
American Rhetoric and the Vietnam War. The author writes that Vietnam was America s longest and
most controversial war. Thus he adds, Public controversy gives rise to public rhetoric as surely as the
sparks fly upward, and this may help to explain why the Vietnam War was the stimulus for so much
rhetoric, with so much passion, by so many people, for so many years (Gustainis xv). The author has
devoted sections of the book to rhetoric in support of the war, rhetoric opposed to the war, and some

The 1997 Film Adaptation Of Lolita
#1 The 1997 film adaptation of Lolita centres around the romance between middle aged professor
Humbert Humbert and a (very, very) young girl named Dolores Haze. Taking place in 1947, the story
starts when Humbert, a French literature professor, begins living with the recently widowed Charlotte
Haze. Being attracted to young girls his whole life, Humbert marries Charlotte to be around her
daughter Dolores, who he calls Lo . Humbert and Lo then proceed to run away and go on a sex filled
motel hopping road trip before eventually settling in Beardsley, a college town where Humbert gets a
teaching job. Lo, becoming increasing bored with Humbert and seeking adventure, leaves Humbert for
a writer named Clare Quilty. Three years pass and Humbert receives a letter from Lo asking him for
money. Quilty had tried to convince her to star in the child pornography he was producing, and when
she refused, abandoned her. Now with Lo married and pregnant, Humbert tries to convince her to
leave her husband to no avail. He then tracks down and murders Quilty. As the film ends, Humbert
dies in prison awaiting trial and Dolores dies from complications in childbirth. The film was Directed
by Adrian Lyne, known for the cult classic horror film Jacob s Ladder, as well as box office hits Fatal
Attraction and Indecent Proposal. Jeremy Irons co stars as Humber Humbert alongside Dominique
Swain, who plays Dolores Haze. The film was released in 1997, which was 35 years after Kubrick s

Marcus Aurelius, Rome s Greastest Emperor Essay examples
Who is Marcus Aurelius? What did he do to make his mark in the pages of history? Why did the
people of Rome respect and admire him? To the common person, Marcus was just a man who was an
emperor of Rome and just another person who helped shaped this world. Marcus Aurelius was more
than that! Anthony Birley writes, The acquaintance of a man like Marcus Aurelius is an imperishable
benefit. The character of Marcus Aurelius is truly special, but was molded by many important people
and figures in his life. With the absence of honor and duty in Rome, influences such as Junius
Rusticus, a book called The Discourses of Epictetus , and the Roman Emperor Hadrian, led Marcus

time disconcerted; when they show how far my mind falls behind those better minds your pupil

In the bonds of these cares I have put off till tomorrow my task of writing for you every day. But now

Accordingly I will let Aristo sleep peacefully for a little, and turn me heart and soul to your dramatic

their maternal diet during and after pregnancy. The article was published in International Journal of
Obesity, after being peer revised in July 2012 and being published on August 2012 and intended for an
audience of medical professionals, and pregnant woman with concerns regarding their diet. The
research initially included 301 pregnant woman randomized, but had exempted data from 10 due to
complications. The 291 pregnant participants in the research shared common trends including age,
body mass index, and a similar background in the lower class with a social disadvantage. The women
were given a Harvard Semi quantitative Food Frequency questionnaire at 28 and 36 weeks and 4
months post partum (LJ Moran et al, 705). The questionnaire was then used to compare the
recommended dietary intake and adequate intake of the pregnant woman and the maternal and
neonatal outcomes. The nutritional diet during pregnancy was suggested to have many factors that
determine the potential harm on both the mother and child. It was concluded that when a woman has
an unbalanced diet, the pregnancy is put at a high risk. When associated with a decrease in diet

Everyday Use By Alice Walker Analysis
There is something oddly familiar and comforting in the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker.
Perhaps it is the sweet drawl of southern charm that holds readers attention or maybe it is the way
Walker redefines an insecure character, and transforms them into a character whose inner persona
mirrors that of their own outer strength; nothing reads truer than the character of Mama. Mama
describes herself as a bigger woman, who wears overalls, has calloused hands, and is not afraid to get
them dirty. Mama is hardy and unwavering, she is the very essence of a hard worker. Mama takes
pride in the fact that she can work just as hard as any man and still managed to raise two daughters.
Mama even brags about her masculine strengths and accomplishments when she disclosed, I can work
outside all day, breaking ice to get water for washing; I can eat pork liver cooked over the open fire
minutes after it comes steaming from the hog. One winter I knocked a bull calf straight in the brain
between the eyes with a sledge hammer and had the meat hung up to chill before nightfall (Walker).
Mama has the physical attributes even a man would be envious of. However, despite all Mamas
physical strengths she has never had the courage to hold her own; not even with her daughter. From
the very beginning Mama showed her insecurities and passive tone as she tried relentlessly to sweep
away debris from the yard in an effort to please her oldest daughter Dee. Mamma even fantasize

1. INTRODUCTION
The Online sources of information are becoming more and more important for the academic
community for their teaching and research. Online journals have revolution the scholarly and
scientific communication since their inception in the late 1980s. The exponential growths of online
journals over the last five years were popular among scientific information providers, publishers,
libraries and information centers. Current developments in online journals and their institutional
licensing and subscriptions arrangements clearly indicate a rapid revolution.
The libraries first began tracking online journals in 1991 and the Association of Research

Magic Flute Analysis
Die Zauberflöte, The Magic Flute is composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is a singspiel in two
acts. Its German libretto is written by Austrian actor and theatrical producer Emanuel Schikaneder.
In early 1791, Mozart was deeply in debt as his music no longer appealed to the Viennese public. Thus
Mozart was extremely keen when Emanuel Schikaneder suggested that they work together on a new
opera.
Schikaneder had arrived in Vienna in 1789. He managed the Theater auf der Wieden, a theatre that
specialized in popular German language musical entertainment, which were often comical with
foreign or fantastic settings.
Soon after his arrival, Schikaneder had been extremely successful with the magic opera Oberon by
composer Paul Wranitzky and librettist Carl Ludwig Giesecke. Following this success, Schikaneder
decided to write the libretto to The Magic Flute, with Mozart composing the music. Schikaneder
promised to give Mozart the rental fees for productions following the premiere. However, he later
went back on his word and for years, Mozart s widow fought for the money while The Magic Flute
made profit all over Europe.
The Magic Flute began composition in May/June and most of it was completed by July. Mozart
composed most of the music in a little hut on the grounds of Theater auf der Wieden. In mid
September, Mozart began the final preparations for the premiere of The Magic Flute, which included
composing the Overture, the part of his opera which he always wrote last. The full score of The Magic
Flute was finished on September 28th and it premiered at Theater auf der Wieden on September 30,
1791. Mozart conducted the orchestra, while Schikaneder sang the role of Papageno.
Mozart wrote many vocal parts for specific singers he knew. One example is The Queen of the Night,
whose arias require the singer to sing F6, which is extremely demanding. For the less experienced
singers, Mozart wrote and supported their parts with the orchestra.
On the opening night, although the performance was good, the audience did not respond
enthusiastically as the unconventional and wide range of music in the opera were breaking the norms
and expectations of what an opera was. However, this sparked immense curiosity and drew in huge

Essay on Street Racing
Street Racing
The intricacies that are involved in turning a regular car into a Street Racer are many; and racers pour
their souls into these magnificent machines. After seeing the Fast and the Furious many people have or
wanted to become involved in street racing. They do not realize that this is a sport that takes
knowledge, hard work, and nerve. Many of these racers have spent their lives under a car, learning the
trade and improving upon it. As I have learned, this is not just a hobby; it is a way of life.
This lifestyle does carry a price, racers face persecution from police and the general public. They have
their cars impounded and defaced by those who reject racing. Having a racer is not illegal, but some of

As you drive, air rushes past your car. It hits the front of your car and the intake, and this cold air is
forced to the engine. As a combination, the turbo and intake greatly improve power and speed.
I said earlier that the engine burns fuel and air to cause compression. With a high burning gas injected
into the engine, you gain instant horsepower***. Nitrous Oxide is a gas that burns hotter and faster
than regular fuel. When it is directly injected into the cylinder, it burns at a greater rate to the fuel,
increasing speed greatly. Through a switch on the wheel, a driver engages a certain amount of
NOS**** from a tank in his car. Through a nozzle, the driver decides how much gas he wants then the
burst is pressed. With this high powered gas, too much can literally burn so hot that it melts your
engine. These drivers take the risk of wanting too much speed and blowing their engine apart. A NOS
boost can shake the welds off the engine and the driver out of the car; this is why it s a blessing and a
curse.
If a driver wants to be safe in a high speed car that has NOS and other modifications, they need
protection. Also many gauges that tell them what s going on in their car. Safety is a major concern for
these racers, so they make a number of safety enhancing modifications.
Racing seats have shoulder straps that hold the driver snugly to the seat. A crash at these speeds can

The Pros And Cons Of Heterosexuality
We are socialized to assumed heterosexuality is normal because it is all around us. Most of us are born
into a heterosexual, mom and dad relationship. As we grow up looking up to them it becomes normal
to see heterosexuality. Throughout my upbringing, my parents did not talk about homosexuality much.
All of my family members throughout at least the first two generations identify as straight, so it was
not something I grew up being around. Therefore it was never talked about in a positive or negative
way. In biology class and church we are taught that we are on this earth to reproduce and contribute to
the renewal of civilization. To do this the normal way you would get married and heterosexually
reproduce. It is taught that the only natural way to have sex is inserting a penis into a vagina.
Institutions reinforce this by continuing to teach children throughout their education that man and
woman are the normal thing. This belief came from the fact that a female egg cannot turn into a fetus
unless it is fertilized by a male sperm. The cycle of heterosexual socialization promotes heterosexism
because it is promoted as the right thing to do throughout all forms of media and teachings. When all
you see as a positive thing growing up is heterosexual, married couples with biological kids you are
conformed to think that is the only way to find happiness. Heteronormative socialization excludes

The Black Power Movement During The 1950 S
The Black Power Movement took place during the 1950 s into the early 60 s. The point of the
movement was to achieve civil rights for African Americans. Martin Luther King was a major
influence during the early stages of the movement. Many people turned to the Black Panthers, founded
by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, because they felt that nonviolence was not the answer to
achieving civil rights. The Black Power Movement unsuccessfully tried to change the economic and
social inequalities of blacks, because today many blacks are still treated socially and economically
inferior to whites. One reason the Black Power Movement was unsuccessful is the economic
insecurities of blacks in today s society. A major reason for the high rate of poverty of blacks is what is
known as the double burden of poverty. This double burden of poverty is when a person is poor, but
also surrounded by a neighborhood that is just as poor. One cannot expect to get help, or have a better
life, when one is surrounded by those who are in the same situation as them. Chicago is a perfect
example of a city whose poverty rate is extremely high. Statistics show in the, five year American
Community Survey data from 2009 2013, more than a third of all poor African Americans in
metropolitan Chicago live in high poverty census tracts (Badger). The survey reveals that the poverty
rate in Chicago during this time span was over 40% and was ten times higher than poor whites. Many
communities today are still

Strauss-Howe s Generations
Generations
Strauss Howe s generational theory explains in detail how the year in which you are born affects your
development, attitudes and socialisation in society. William Strauss and Neil Howe designed the
theory to be a recurring cycle in America. The generation you are born into can reflect your traits and
be a reflection on what type of person you will grow up to be. Strauss Howe examined the patterns in
historical generations and used generational events to create a theory revolving around it. These
generational events are known as turnings.
Although the Strauss Howe generation theory is easy to understand, there can be exceptions. For
example, a baby boomer can adjust their lifestyle and attitudes to be more like the younger
generations. Family, culture, gender, sexuality, beliefs, location, social class, peers, school and media
are all factors that can influence how a person may fit into a certain generation. Due to these factors,
many questions can be asked about this theory differing between people born in different countries,
people of different cultural, and of different social classes and status.
Baby Boomers

The Chimney Sweeper in Innocence vs. The Chimney Sweeper in Experience
In William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, many of the poems correlate in
numerous aspects. For example, The Chimney
Sweeper is a key poem in both collections that portrays the soul of a child with both a naïve and
experienced persona. Blake uses the aspects of religion, light versus dark imagery, and the usage of
the chimney sweeper itself to convey the similarities and differences of the figure in both poems.

After Tom awakes from this dream, he was happy and warm with the knowledge that with God, there
was no need to fear death.
However, in Songs of Experience, the outlook on life and death is not so joyful. The religious imagery
is not so much as in Songs of
Innocence, possibly because people tend to believe more religiously when innocence dominates
terrible experiences. In the latter poem, however, the little black thing has been clothed in the clothes
of death by his parents forcing him to become a chimney sweeper. His parents have gone to praise
God and his Priest and King, who make up a heaven of our misery and the boy cannot understand this
as he
sings the notes of woe and not happiness. This chimney sweeper does not have the innocence and
hopefulness of the chimney sweeper in Songs of Innocence. This child possesses experience of
hardship and does not hold much faith in God and religion. This version of The Chimney
Sweeper lacks the hopefulness and faith found in the former version although it is the same setting,
factors, and occupation.
William Blake conveys both innocence and experience with the literary technique of light versus dark
imagery. In Songs of Innocence, Blake discusses the issue of soot on several instances. In the
beginning verse, the young chimney sweeper slept in soot, showing the incorruptibility and despair of
the young child. Also, Tom Dacre s
white hair was shaved so that the dark soot

The Ship Poem
Within The Ship Starting, there are three notable instances of repetition. For one, the word ship occurs
three times (including in the title). Given that ships are the topic of interest in the poem, this instance
of repetition has the basic effect of bringing the locus of the text back to the title, or central theme. The
second example can be observed in the second and third lines, where the word sails is followed by
moonsails, a made up compound version of the former word. Using the same word twice, and in this
case, by adding on and modifying its second appearance, the reader is likely to acquire a clear picture
of the scene that Whitman lays out in the poem. Emphasizing the image of the ship s sails by
preceding the words with diction such as all and even attributes the sails to a sense of abundance or
freedom. The third instance of repetition occurs in line four, where she speeds she speeds is used to
describe the motions that the ship is making. Whereas it would be considered grammatically correct to
include a comma after the first mention of she speeds, leaving it out better reflects the content of the
poem: she speeds she speeds gives the impression of a ship slicing through the water quickly. In many
cases, using the same word twice in a row takes away from a text s message, but in The Ship Starting,
this repetition instead works in Whitman s favor by supporting the visual imagery he seeks to create.
Walt Whitman s The Ship Starting is a poem that

Drug and Alcohol Essay
Drugs and Alchohol The first meeting I attended was an AA and a NA meeting. At first, I was very
nervous attending it because I didn t know what to expect. I always had the impression that all people
who attended these meetings were typical people that you see in bars with long hair, and beards; but I
was wrong. They look normal just like you and me. There were young people, and middle aged
people. Some of them I never would have expected that they were alcoholics or drug addicts. Both

In both cases, drugs or alcohol was due to serious family problems, and they do it to get their minds
off of the problem. It is their way of getting away.
Since both meetings are so similar, there are things that I like and dislike about both. I like the fact that
it is a group effort to help one another because everyone there has the same problem, and there are
different ideas shared on how to overcome the addiction. It seems to me that everyone is fine when
they are together at the meeting, because by talking it takes their minds off of the drugs or the alcohol.
So the question that I am asking is when these people go back out into the world, and the group is not
there, and a problem occurs are they going to resort back to the substance. Another thing that I really
didn t like was the way they introduced themselves. I don t agree with putting a title after your name,
like I m an alcoholic. To me, that makes a person feel lowly about him or herself, and they will go
through life always feeling that they are an alcoholic or a drug addict. I feel that that needs to be
changed very badly. I think it should be Hi, my name is Gino, and I am here because I have a drinking
or a drug problem and I need help to overcome it. So if that person overcomes it, they will say I
accomplished something.
I honestly believe that these meetings work to a certain extent. I believe very strongly that a person
can overcome an alcohol or a drug problem. The meetings

To decide whether Jay Gatsby is a good man or not, one must define what a good man really is.
Although it is an extremely vague and layered term, a good man best fits the description of a man
whose intentions are never meant to harm anyone. In addition, readers must remember that the Gatsby
in the novel is Nick Carraway s version, and that is a very biased version. Yet, based off of the events
depicted in The Great Gatsby, I believe that Jay Gatsby is a good man. Gatsby is not formally
introduced until chapter three, and due to his initial description, readers hold him in much higher
regard than other characters in the novel. Nick introduces Gatsby in an extremely intriguing and
flattering manner, saying, He smiled understandingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of how one would go about arguing how Jay Gatsby is not a good man , he is undeniably
an embodiment of the American dream. Born James Gatz to two poor farmers in the Midwest, Gatsby
s imaginations had never really accepted them as his parents at all. The truth was that Jay Gatsby ...
sprang from his Platonic conception of himself. He was a son of God ... to this conception he was
faithful to the end (98). The notion of the self made man alone is something that is honored within
American society, and therefore, Jay Gatsby is an honorable person. Parallel to Benjamin Franklin,
Gatsby envisioned the perfect man and left home with nothing in order to become that idealistic
version of himself. Gatsby s similarity to Benjamin Franklin is highlighted by Mr. Gatz with Gatsby s
childhood schedule seemingly based off of The Way to Wealth. Yet, being an honorable person alone
does not make Gatsby a good man . What does make Gatsby a good man though, is his outstanding
selflessness. Despite the immense wealth he gains, Jay Gatsby is always trying to do things for others,
such as asking Nick on his boat, or giving a random party goer an entirely new dress after ruining their
original dress at one of Gatsby s parties. Even in the case of Gatsby doing Nick favors, Gatsby does
not expect anything in return from Nick, but he does hope for a reconnection with Daisy. Part of what

Australia s Constitutional Democracy And The Federal System
Throughout this essay, a comparison of both Australia s constitutional democracy and the federal
republic system in the United States will take place. Australia and the United States are both a part of
the federal system. Within the federal system, the national and state governments divide the power in
order to govern (Parliamentary Education Office, 2016). Both Australia and the United States have
two chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Parliament Education office, (2016)
states that there are numerous similarities between these two countries, for example, both these
nations decide on the making of legal guidelines for their government. However, Australia and the
United States have different forms of government and this affects how the political system is
managed. Australia is a constitutional monarchy, in which the queen is the head of the state (ABC,
2004), and the United States is the federal republic where the President is the head of state
(Parliamentary Education Office, 2016). A constitution is a formal structure for the state and specifies
the power and institutions of the central government and its relationship with different levels.

Italian Immigration To America Essay
One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse reception of Catholic
Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other Catholic European immigrants, was
the attitude Italians held in regards to the country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants
felt alienated in their new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was
a direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true in the Italian
Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely internal matter; it was also caused by
American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on to say that this discriminating view held by Americans
led to Italians being stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in
the United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in schools which
led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and students went as ... Show more

Family was of great importance to Italians and that did not change once they arrived in the United
States. The term they used to describe this family centered way of life was Domus, or culture of the
home. It was for this reason that the home was very important to the Italians. To highlight the
importance of the domus that Italians brought to the United States, Covello made four principles of the
domus, the points are; 10. One should stand by blood relatives in any situation whether they be right
or wrong. 15. Married couples should never sever their relations with their parents. 17. Children
should respect the friends and relatives to their parents and in their behavior conform to the opinions
of these friends and relatives. 21. Husband and wife should represent the union of two blood groups
and not the union of two people who mutually arouse each other s emotions. (Orsi

Full Metal Jacket Film Analysis
Film Analysis Within every man resides good and evil; which quality manifests itself is determined by
how one is raised and views the world. Stanley Kubrick s film Full Metal Jacket takes the concept of
good or evil in man and shows how war, the marines, and government blur soldiers ideas of right or
wrong. By injection of propaganda from these sources a misidentity is created within the solider. Once
this misidentity has taken place it is the soldiers job to figure out what he is: a killing machine as he
has been trained, or a bringer of peace to a war torn nation. A soldiers identity is stripped of him the
second he enters boot camp. It first begins with the shaving of the head which likens boot camp to
brain surgery, then continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This explains how even though joker is inherently good, and continues to be, there are times when you
must act to better yourself. Joker, however, redeems himself in the climax of the movie with the sniper
scene. Even when the sniper has killed three of his fellow soldiers Joker does not have the ability to
take her life. To the other men she is just another VC fighter trying to kill them. Joker, however, sees
her for who she is: a young women of about eighteen and just as human as he and the rest of his
squad. A clear signal of this is when the sniper gets shot once and all the marines are gathered around
her. While the sniper is lying on the ground praying as she is dying, Joker asks the question, What do
we do about her? The only response he receives is, Fuck her, let her rot. Here is where we see a clear
distinction of what Joker has become compared to the rest of the soldiers. Though he is still accepted
by all of his fellow soldiers he is reassured that he is different from the rest. Evil, which is represented
by the other soldiers, is in constant struggle with some of the men s conscience while it has taken full
control of others. In the scene where Joker and Rafterman are riding in a helicopter to the jungle, they
ride with a gunner who is disconnected from reality. While flying, the gunner is shooting random
peasant farmers with no remorse. His first words to Joker and Rafterman are, Anyone who runs is a
VC.

Generation And The Silent Generation
Society is inevitably divided by its inhabitants, as there is such a mass of individuals living amongst
one established society, that it is only plausible to recognize that there will be cultural divides in its
people throughout time. We are living in a world that is constantly changing. Due to the changes we
have to adapt ourselves to interacting with people from different generations. A prime example would
be the indifference between two major groups who exist in two different mental complacencies: Older
generation versus younger. It is very obvious that these two groups have many differences; for
instance, the Silent Generation came from a society much more regimented and different than that of
today s Millennial. Although the events of the older generation lead up to the formation of today s
society, part of the Silent Generation is still living in our modernization, and this results in a societal
conflict.
They had stronger opinions on traditional family matters, homosexuality was not widely accepted, and
neither was the idea of feminism. If you looked at the Millennial generation, the subject of matter is
that those ideals have vastly changed. Back in the early 1940s, fashion was much more modest, the
entertainment much more regulated in innocence, and the views of people were much more close
minded. If you were an inhabitant of that era, these environmental factors would essentially shape
your opinions, to a certain extent, of course but to the point that you

The Court Of A Bench Trial Essay
Our judicial system works hard every day to uphold the rule of law. Whether you are sitting in on a
case, watching Court TV, watching legal based movies, or whatever it may be, you notice that there
are different parties and people involved in the whole charade. There are different jobs within our
court system that coincide with each other to keep our courts strong and orderly. These jobs include:
judge, bailiff, stenographer, jury, clerk, and prosecuting attorney. These different jobs have specific
duties that help the court system thrive. Judges decide on the verdict if there is a bench trial. A bench
trial is a trial by a judge as opposed to a trial by jury (Reuter, 2016). In a bench trial, the judge is an
unbiased third party advocate for justice. He or she determines the appropriate punishment and
sentence those convicted of crimes (Reuter, 2016). A judge takes on a couple of roles in a bench trial
such as, that of the referee who rules on the admissibility of evidence and decides questions of law,
and that of the finder of fact which ultimately determines how much weight to give the testimony of
different witnesses and the credibility of the evidence (American Bar Association, n.d.). Some cases
must be handled by a judge in a bench trial. A federal judge who presides may be an Article III, Judge
or a Magistrate Judge (Gray,Ritter, Graham, P.C., 2015). An Article III, Judge is a judge of the United
States Supreme Court, the federal court of appeals and district

Job Offer Negotiation
How did you prepare for this negotiation? Why did you prepare in this manner?
A. Identify the issues that you thought were the most important issues to be negotiated, and briefly
explain why you thought they were the most important. In preparation for this negotiation, I studied
the case diligently. I wrote down, what I felt were the key issues for Joe Tech. I also made a list of
pros and cons associated with each issue. I prepared in this manner because it gave me the opportunity
to effectively break down the issues of the case as well as focus on important goals without having the
extra unneeded information also presented in the case outline. The issues I focused on are as such:
Position:
The position that I, as Joe Tech, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The target point for the salary issue I estimated at $88,000 with a resistance point of $88,000 with a
$2000 increase after six months. I made this inference during the negotiation. $88,000 was the initial
offer given by Bultema this is why I assume that the offer was the target point. As for the resistance
point, during the negotiation as were talking about the salary, offered me $88,000 with a $2000
increase after six months. Her assertiveness to not go hire than that offer signaled to me her stake in
the offer and to assume that the offer was her resistance point. According to Bultema, the interest
behind this issue was that the salary offered was already higher than what is normally given to an
entry level manager straight out of college. Therefore, to keep moral within the department, Bultema
will try to offer the best salary that is closest to the median as possible. The last issues that I estimated
were the incentives. For both the relocation package and signing bonus, I estimated the target point at
$0. I estimated the resistance point $5000. I believe the interest behind this was the same as that for
the salary. The department does not want to lose moral by having a person receiving incentives and
salary higher than that of the average number employees in the department.
D. Indicate which party had the most power, and briefly describe/explain how you determined. Going

  • 2. Romeo And Juliet s True Love The definition of true love according to Dr. Neder, caring about the health, well being, and happiness of another person to a greater degree than your own health, well being, and happiness. Some people may argue that Romeo and Juliet s love is true, but I disagree. Let s dive into the evidence of why their love isn t true. For starters, Romeo and Juliet only like each other s looks. They only ever describe each other s appearances, and neither mention that they care for anything but the other s looks. Looks do not define a person. A person should be judged by their personality and ability to put someone s well being above their own. • 3. The Genocide In Rwanda Rape itself is a sensitive topic, although it was desensitized by the Hutu men after they raped approximately 250,000 women (Brysiewicz et al. 2). The genocide in Rwanda was devastating, causing problems with deeper roots than a normal war. Not only were there upwards of 1 million deaths, a whole community was destroyed and corrupted by HIV/AIDS. Rape was such a driving force of the genocide because the Tutsi women were sexually sweeter, and it allowed the community to feel destroyed (Brysiewicz et al. 3). Rape babies serve as constant reminder of the tragedy; the effects are everlasting and people slowly died from HIV/AIDS, as well as social isolation. When a women is raped in their culture, she loses her virginity which leaves room for other people to assume they are a slut or do not appreciate modern marriage. Social isolation occurs among these women and their life is practically ruined (Brysiewicz et al. 3). Men look down on women who are infected with HIV/AIDS because they are unclean. They would not want to run the risk of getting infected as well. Many Rwandan men also do not appreciate condoms as much as people in other parts of the world. When they marry they want to have kids and want sex to be a sacred thing when they first marry, as that is a common custom in Rwandan culture. Also, many of the rape victims had children as a result of rape. This restricted them even more to marrying because that had to care for a child and the male would have not liked that the child was not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Similarities and Difference of Japan and Western Europe Essay Similarities and Difference of Japan and Western Europe Both Japan and Europe were politically similar for many reasons: Each strove to maintain a centralized government. For Japan the leader was to be called an emperor or empress who could only be a part of the royal family if they were related to the Shinto sun goddess. As for Europe, the leader was to be called a king or a queen. Like Japan, not just anybody could become royalty. Kings and queens came from a long descent of an Imperial family. Tradition was that the first born son of the king would become the next ruler following the kings death. However, if no legitimate son were born then the daughter would become queen. In Europe, the royal family and institution was usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In both Japan and Europe the elegance of the royal courts has never been matched to this day. Great elegance and refinement marked life in Japan and Europe s capitals. In Europe and Japan great castles were built marking the capital of each separate country. The royal families promoted the arts, medicine, and science. One of the most memorable of European castles lies just outside of Paris, France. The Palace of Versailles built by King Louis XIV in the seventeenth century. In Japan however, the funerals of the emperors and empresses was more memorable. Kofun Mounds were mounds of earth piled over their ruler s graves. The largest keyhole tomb measured 486m in length, 305m in width, and 33.6m in height. It was provided for Emperor Nintoku. One of the major differences between Europe and Japan was colonization: As individual European countries scrambled to gain more territory to add to their Empires, Japan feared the changes that visiting countries brought. When other countries visited Japan with imports to trade they also brought with them a new religion, Christianity. Japanese Emperors feared the chaos that a new religion would bring and decided to shut the rest of the world out. Only the Dutch were allowed to trade with the Japanese as a need remained to be informed of the rest of the world and medical advances. ECONOMICS: In both Europe and Japan ... • 5. Patent Indirect Infringement Of Patent Infringement 1.Introduction Patent indirect infringement,as the name implies,is opposite to patent direct infringement. Generally, the conception of patent indirect infringement is to meet the need of pantent protection. It expands the protection domain of the patent right to the no patented products, improves patent protection s horizontal and provides sufficient legal protection for patentees. Nowadays, more and more countries ordain the system of indirect infringement in their patent laws in order to protect the patentees effectually, and the system of indirect infringement has become a full blown law operating mechanism in the protection of patentees. But so far it is not prescribed in Chinese patent law. However, as China is more and more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Case Description(Actavis V Liily [2015] EWCA 555 (Civ)) In June 2015,Eli Lilly won a patent case to Actavis in the the Court of Appeal in London. The decision of the Court of Appeal overturned the decision last year in UK high court, and would also apply to France, Italy and Spain. At the first instance, Mr Justice Arnold used the improver questions to decide that there was no direct or contributory infringement of using generic products containing pemetrexed diacid, pemetrexed dipotassium or pemetrexed ditromethamine. Her excitement was felt by the rest of her comrades, who could not help but be swept up in the feeling. I can t wait to see all of those other ban , Joe whispered sadly as he gazed upon the fifty other up and coming groups. But we may still have a shot. Good thing we have those instruments in the bus, Janet interjected. I have a good feeling about this, commented James with a smirk. He was up to something. It was the hottest summer on record; even the locals were shocked at the sweltering temperatures and the lack of rain in their small Southern town. Older generations sat around the air conditioner, telling stories of how it hasn t been this hot since August of 59. However, Judy did not care about the drought that was plaguing her hometown or about how there was not any ice for sixty seven miles. The lead guitarist was losing feeling in her fingers, getting cramps in her legs, and wishing like she had during Christmas season. She was preparing for the most important event of her favorite season the county fair. Filled with vibrant colors, the aromas of funnel cake, and squealing kids on carousels, the Partridge County fair was everyone s favorite event. It boasted fifty contemporary music groups with talented vocalists, guitarists, and banjoists. However, there was one problem with the fair. • 7. A Major Measure Of Biological Fitness A major measure of biological fitness in a population is the fecundity, or reproductive success rate, of female organisms (Berger et al, 2008). For insects in particular many factors influence the number of eggs produced during the lifetime of a female. One key factor in insect reproduction is the ambient environmental temperature. Insects are ectothermic and therefore rely on their environment to provide the heat needed to carry out normal reproductive functions. Ambient heat dependence for insects has been thought to have a greater effect on fertility success than other contributing factors such as increased female body size. Studies by Berger and others have shown that the European speckled wood butterfly, Pararge aegeria, can only reproduce in the temperature range of 8°C and 14 °C even when controlling for larger female body sizes. The findings of the study suggest that temperature can limit insect reproduction in two specific ways. First, the development of the egg may be inhibited by temperature ranges that are outside the preferred range of the insect. Second, the female s range of time she is able to lay eggs is reduced when the temperature of the immediate environment is not conducive to the survival of her offspring (Berger et al, 2008). Thus, temperature is a paramount factor when considering the success rate of many insect species. Other studies have shown the importance of temperature on reproductive success of certain insects and the implications that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Metaphors In Poetry M S Essay Hope is the thing with Feather , by Emily Dickinson, and The Path not taken , by Robert Frost, are poems that skillfully use metaphors and symbolisms to emphasize the theme of how hope and decisions have a considerable impact on our lives. While hope allows us to conquer difficult moments that life throws at us, decision also plays an important role in our lives, for it determines what path we will go and determines our future. Robert Frost created a poem about the journey of life. The diverging road in the yellow wood is used to symbolize a person s life. It symbolizes the different paths that people will encounter in their lives and suggest the different life people are going to have when choosing different paths. In the poem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the use of metaphor and symbolism, the theme is easily developed. Hope is a word that delivers an abstract meaning of what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best . The image of a bird perches in the soul and sings the sweetest gale both suggests how hope is the necessary inspiration human s need in life to motivate them. Hope stays alive in human s mind, with inspiration and motivation never stop[ping] . Although the song it sings is without the word , the message it delivers can always be felt. Hope is also strong and undefeatable; it sings its songs in the chilliest land and strangest sea and can only be destroyed by the sorest storm . It experiences all circumstances and is always there to overcome problems. Aside from all the help hope provided, its help is also unrequited, for it has never asked a crumb of me (15). While hope helps human to overcome suffering in their lives, The Road not taken implies the theme of the importance of making choices since the choice one makes will change one s whole life. It is true that many regret not taking the other choice, which is the road not taken in the poem, but humans will realize that the choice they choose determines their identity. The narrator knows that his choice will make all the difference since the destination each road leads to will be totally different. When facing two equally attractive choices, it is even harder to make a decision. The narrator struggles with letting go and he even thinks about saving the road not taken for another day. However, once a choice is made, there is no turning back. • 9. A Study On Corporate Ownership And News Bias Martin Gilens and Craig Hertzman at Yale University, have conducted a study on the Corporate ownership and news bias through the newspaper coverage of the 1996 Telecommunication Act addressing the claim: Financial interests of corporate owners lead America s news bureaus to downplay the significant issues surrounding the growing concentration of ownership of the country s mass media (Martin and Hertzman, 2000.) These researchers affirm that it is impossible to think of any democratic society deprived of the mass media because in such utopist environment the citizens would miss the information they need to evaluate the desirability or undesirability of public choices and assess the value of political leaders and social conditions. They state that the essential role of the press is what leads critics to wonder about the danger derived from the mass media concentration. Their case study focuses on one part of the 1996 Act that specifically removed restrictions on TV stations ownership with the result to benefits companies that already owned many TV stations at the disadvantage of those that did not. They underline that the similarity of interests in the conglomerate has reduced diversity in the news and enhanced self interest bias. The conclusion of this serious study, performing multivariate analysis tests, of which the researchers provide exhaustive data, translates to the relevant issue of a systematically slanted press aimed at improving its own business rather than ... • 10. How Is the Relationship Between Stephen and Isabelle... How is the relationship between Stephen and Isabelle started and developed in Part one of Birdsong? Part one of Birdsong begins in France 1910 which involves young Englishman Stephen Wraysford coming to Amiens to learn more about the textile industry and to stay with the Azaire family. This sets the context and is relevant as it is a period of industrial and civil unrest. The novel is written in the third person and Stephen s presence allows for an outsider s view of the family with him not stating his opinion and being neutral between sides. From the start there s a mutual attraction between Stephen and Isabelle. Stephen finds this in some assets of Isabelle s character firstly when Isabelle comments on a beautiful piece of music she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrative then shifts to how he describes her and his feelings of her in his notebook, they are summed up in a single word Pulse . Stephen s growing attraction towards Isabelle become increasingly apparent with his awareness of the way she moves and noticeably how she eats and drinks. Her white hands seemed barely to touch the cutlery when they ate at the family dinner table and her lips left no trace of their presence on the wine glass . Isabelle s suppressed emotions are connected with her position as a bourgeois woman. Stephen s attempt to get closer to her when finding her in the garden highlights why she acts with restraint. The language reiterates this earlier in the text before Stephen has a relationship with Isabelle she is referred to as Madame Azaire. Isabelle greets Stephen as Monsieur on his returns from work. She asks him to respect her position when Stephen takes her hand in his in the garden. She is seen to react in accordance with her social standing. Without regard Isabelle offers little in the way of resistance when he takes her hand. However these thoughts come from Stephen s perspective and there are little insight given into Isabelle s emotions. The theme of desire is broached and made relevant as Stephen sits opposite Isabelle on the boat on the return home from a trip to the water gardens. As they touch each other and do not move away, his desire for her is heightened. Isabelle s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Comic Book Maus In the comic book Maus, Art Spiegelman shows the readers what people endured during the Holocaust terror. Art mostly spoke about persons of Jewish descent. He utilized great imagery, and characteristics to allow readers to get a mental image and painting of the immense pain and suffering Jews endured during the Holocaust. His use of symbolism of mice and cats helped to show how Jews were just pawns, and experimental factors to Germans. Art allows for the reader to see how terrifying and horrific it was for Jews to live through the senseless racism, and harsh living conditions. These camps were like a living hell, full of deceit, hate, guilt, and survival of the fittest. If one were to read Maus , and fully look at the words , and paint these pictures they would noticed how the Holocaust just wasn t a tragic period of time , but it had a lasting mental effect on any individual who survived those terrors. Throughout Maus, it was vividly painted how awful it was to kill so many innocent lives, and treat them like animals, and second class citizens. This is why Spiegelman chose the specific type of animals he did to help symbolize the slayings. He chose mice, because majority of time mice are mistreated and experimented with without any say so. It is one of two types of obligations, the other, a Promise. To form a contract, all parties entering must have the capacity meaning they must be sane under the terms stated within the law. Those entering must be fully aware of what they are undertaking, having a sound understanding of the contracts terms. A contract has two principles that must take place for it to be finalized an offer and an acceptance. One of the parties makes the offer to the other to enter a legally binding contract under offerors terms. The offeree (party receiving the offer) must agree to the stated terms for a contract to be formed, if they do not and attempt to change any terms then no contract is formed. If both elements do not take place, then under the law no contract has been formed. Multiple offers with different terms can be made before any acceptance is given, most likely because the parties are trying to come to an agreement of the contractual terms. For a contract to be formed, there must be consensus in Idem, Latin for a meeting of the minds all important elements of the contract must be met during this. All parties must be aware of the same things and to carry out their side of the contract. Rodrigo was another victim that payed for Iago s wrath towards Othello, envy towards Cassio, and overall greed for money and power, all of which are deadly sins. Iago charmed Rodrigo with the idea that he could have his one true desire; the fair Desdemona. Iago never cared for Rodrigo and though he was pathetic as did the audience because he was constantly whiny. Rodrigo was also gullible and very desperate to win Desdemona s affection. Many smaller communities in the United States are already utilizing telemedicine to great advantage (Burchill, 2010).Although telemedicine is a great way to deliver quality healthcare in a timely fashion, there is also a downside to the procedure as well. Telemedicine will in some way hinder the face to face communication between the doctor and patient that is vital in reducing errors. Most patients have a better understanding of what is expected of them when it is communicated clearly and effectively by their physician. Communication is the process of understanding and having meaning (Du Pre, 2005.) and it is also the process of relaying information between people by the use of words, letters, symbols, or body language (Sallee Forrest, 2005,). In my opinion I feel that telemedicine will decrease the moral as far as the Dr. and Patients are concerned. Although telemedicine may decrease a portion of the healthcare cost by less visits to the doctor, it will lose the value and importance of actually sitting down and talking with your doctor and receiving that one on one face to face time. Most patients are not even in tuned with technology and this can result in many errors and communication issues. What role do you plan to have in the industry? I think once I have entered the healthcare industry I will play a vital role in implementing fair but tough decision making when it comes to delivering efficient, friendly, quality healthcare. The statement was, Why do people use words like bomb and such for things that are groovy (Mrs.Bevan). I found this to be a very interesting topic so I did some thinking and came up with these following explanations. A persons Vocabulary skill level is very low and he or she resorts to common slang words. However, this is very unlikely because most people are educated enough to know the difference between a sophisticated word and slang. Some people feel the need to change their character or attributes to fit into what they assume is the cool section of society. They don t know that by doing this they are actually hiding away their natural characteristics. This seems like a more plausible outlook on the situation because in this day and time people are more focused on how society sees them rather than focusing on ... This option seems to be the most plausible one as it also explains why teens seem so nonchalant when using words like bomb to express something, since they have learned from a culture that approves of it. Another topic that interested me in this past week was the poem that we spoke about in class. What really interested me about the poem was the idea of metaphysical conceit. • 17. Room 127 Quotes The best thing to give someone is a chance. If someone makes a mistake then you should forgive him or her and start over, and over and over. In Things Change forgiveness is all Johanna knows. No matter the mistake she always gives Paul another chance, even when it becomes difficult, harmful and deadly. I can describe the importance of room 127, a memory, the firebird as a safe and deadly place, and chocolate chip ice cream as an apology. Room 127 is a room full of despair for Paul. In that room is where he goes to be alone, to think, to be like his father. Room 127 holds nothing more than memories of a pathetic man and a computer, which Paul uses to talk to him. The computer holds many letters that say everything about Paul s life, everything his father never got to hear from him or experience because of his death. The Degradation Of Solar Cell Solar Cell Degradation in Space Abstract: This paper will present the degradation of solar cell performance when exposed to solar wind in space, particularly in the Van Allen belt region. Also, solar cell theory is mathematically modeled and described using Matlab simulation software accompanied by the SRIM software to generate the targeting data. Follow with the degradation modeling of Si, InGaP/GaAs/Ge triple junction space solar cells when are exposed to high energy charged particles, especially protons and electrons in the Mega electron Volt range. In this model, carrier removal rate of the base layer and damage coefficient of minority carrier diffusion length in each sub cell are considered as radiation degradation parameters. In addition, this paper will present the status of high radiation resistant solar cells made from Si, InGaP/GaAs/Ge for space application to guarantee the successful operation of the satellite. In the amendment they even say that the police must read you your rights when they arrest you, and if they don t they can get in trouble. Before a person is arrested the police usually need a probable cause to arrest them, or a solid reason to arrest someone. Therefore, I have decided to examine the social attitudes toward Vietnam veterans. Since I feel so passionately about the way that Vietnam veterans are viewed, the purpose of my paper is to inform others about the way that the veterans have been criticized and misrepresented. An interesting book I discovered in the library, which is appropriate in regards to this class, is titled American Rhetoric and the Vietnam War. The author writes that Vietnam was America s longest and most controversial war. Thus he adds, Public controversy gives rise to public rhetoric as surely as the sparks fly upward, and this may help to explain why the Vietnam War was the stimulus for so much rhetoric, with so much passion, by so many people, for so many years (Gustainis xv). The author has devoted sections of the book to rhetoric in support of the war, rhetoric opposed to the war, and some portrayals of the war that were presented to the nation through the mass media. Another book that I have discovered is from a different viewpoint and is perhaps more effective. The book, Homecoming, is a history, in the veterans own words, of what it was like to return to the United States after the most controversial war in the nation s history. This book embodies both ethos and pathos since it does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quilty had tried to convince her to star in the child pornography he was producing, and when she refused, abandoned her. Now with Lo married and pregnant, Humbert tries to convince her to leave her husband to no avail. He then tracks down and murders Quilty. As the film ends, Humbert dies in prison awaiting trial and Dolores dies from complications in childbirth. Perhaps it is the sweet drawl of southern charm that holds readers attention or maybe it is the way Walker redefines an insecure character, and transforms them into a character whose inner persona mirrors that of their own outer strength; nothing reads truer than the character of Mama. Mama describes herself as a bigger woman, who wears overalls, has calloused hands, and is not afraid to get them dirty. Mama is hardy and unwavering, she is the very essence of a hard worker. Mama takes pride in the fact that she can work just as hard as any man and still managed to raise two daughters. Mama even brags about her masculine strengths and accomplishments when she disclosed, I can work outside all day, breaking ice to get water for washing; I can eat pork liver cooked over the open fire minutes after it comes steaming from the hog. One winter I knocked a bull calf straight in the brain between the eyes with a sledge hammer and had the meat hung up to chill before nightfall (Walker). Mama has the physical attributes even a man would be envious of. However, despite all Mamas physical strengths she has never had the courage to hold her own; not even with her daughter. • 27. Magic Flute Analysis Die Zauberflöte, The Magic Flute is composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is a singspiel in two acts. Its German libretto is written by Austrian actor and theatrical producer Emanuel Schikaneder. In early 1791, Mozart was deeply in debt as his music no longer appealed to the Viennese public. Thus Mozart was extremely keen when Emanuel Schikaneder suggested that they work together on a new opera. Schikaneder had arrived in Vienna in 1789. He managed the Theater auf der Wieden, a theatre that specialized in popular German language musical entertainment, which were often comical with foreign or fantastic settings. Soon after his arrival, Schikaneder had been extremely successful with the magic opera Oberon by composer Paul Wranitzky and librettist Carl Ludwig Giesecke. Following this success, Schikaneder decided to write the libretto to The Magic Flute, with Mozart composing the music. Schikaneder promised to give Mozart the rental fees for productions following the premiere. However, he later went back on his word and for years, Mozart s widow fought for the money while The Magic Flute made profit all over Europe. The Magic Flute began composition in May/June and most of it was completed by July. Mozart composed most of the music in a little hut on the grounds of Theater auf der Wieden. In mid September, Mozart began the final preparations for the premiere of The Magic Flute, which included composing the Overture, the part of his opera which he always wrote last. The full score of The Magic Flute was finished on September 28th and it premiered at Theater auf der Wieden on September 30, 1791. Mozart conducted the orchestra, while Schikaneder sang the role of Papageno. Mozart wrote many vocal parts for specific singers he knew. One example is The Queen of the Night, whose arias require the singer to sing F6, which is extremely demanding. For the less experienced singers, Mozart wrote and supported their parts with the orchestra. On the opening night, although the performance was good, the audience did not respond enthusiastically as the unconventional and wide range of music in the opera were breaking the norms and expectations of what an opera was. However, this sparked immense curiosity and drew in huge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It hits the front of your car and the intake, and this cold air is forced to the engine. As a combination, the turbo and intake greatly improve power and speed. I said earlier that the engine burns fuel and air to cause compression. With a high burning gas injected into the engine, you gain instant horsepower***. Nitrous Oxide is a gas that burns hotter and faster than regular fuel. When it is directly injected into the cylinder, it burns at a greater rate to the fuel, increasing speed greatly. Through a switch on the wheel, a driver engages a certain amount of NOS**** from a tank in his car. Through a nozzle, the driver decides how much gas he wants then the burst is pressed. With this high powered gas, too much can literally burn so hot that it melts your engine. These drivers take the risk of wanting too much speed and blowing their engine apart. A NOS boost can shake the welds off the engine and the driver out of the car; this is why it s a blessing and a curse. If a driver wants to be safe in a high speed car that has NOS and other modifications, they need protection. Also many gauges that tell them what s going on in their car. • 31. The Black Power Movement During The 1950 S The Black Power Movement took place during the 1950 s into the early 60 s. The point of the movement was to achieve civil rights for African Americans. Martin Luther King was a major influence during the early stages of the movement. Many people turned to the Black Panthers, founded by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, because they felt that nonviolence was not the answer to achieving civil rights. The Black Power Movement unsuccessfully tried to change the economic and social inequalities of blacks, because today many blacks are still treated socially and economically inferior to whites. One reason the Black Power Movement was unsuccessful is the economic insecurities of blacks in today s society. A major reason for the high rate of poverty of blacks is what is known as the double burden of poverty. This double burden of poverty is when a person is poor, but also surrounded by a neighborhood that is just as poor. One cannot expect to get help, or have a better life, when one is surrounded by those who are in the same situation as them. Chicago is a perfect example of a city whose poverty rate is extremely high. Statistics show in the, five year American Community Survey data from 2009 2013, more than a third of all poor African Americans in metropolitan Chicago live in high poverty census tracts (Badger). • 32. Strauss-Howe s Generations Generations Strauss Howe s generational theory explains in detail how the year in which you are born affects your development, attitudes and socialisation in society. William Strauss and Neil Howe designed the theory to be a recurring cycle in America. The generation you are born into can reflect your traits and be a reflection on what type of person you will grow up to be. Strauss Howe examined the patterns in historical generations and used generational events to create a theory revolving around it. These generational events are known as turnings. Although the Strauss Howe generation theory is easy to understand, there can be exceptions. For example, a baby boomer can adjust their lifestyle and attitudes to be more like the younger generations. Family, culture, gender, sexuality, beliefs, location, social class, peers, school and media are all factors that can influence how a person may fit into a certain generation. Due to these factors, many questions can be asked about this theory differing between people born in different countries, people of different cultural, and of different social classes and status. Baby Boomers Prophet (Idealist) 1943 1960 (57 74) Were named after the uptake (?) in birth rates during WWII. However, in Songs of Experience, the outlook on life and death is not so joyful. The religious imagery is not so much as in Songs of Innocence, possibly because people tend to believe more religiously when innocence dominates terrible experiences. In the latter poem, however, the little black thing has been clothed in the clothes of death by his parents forcing him to become a chimney sweeper. His parents have gone to praise God and his Priest and King, who make up a heaven of our misery and the boy cannot understand this as he sings the notes of woe and not happiness. This child possesses experience of hardship and does not hold much faith in God and religion. This version of The Chimney Sweeper lacks the hopefulness and faith found in the former version although it is the same setting, factors, and occupation. William Blake conveys both innocence and experience with the literary technique of light versus dark imagery. In Songs of Innocence, Blake discusses the issue of soot on several instances. • 34. The Ship Poem Within The Ship Starting, there are three notable instances of repetition. For one, the word ship occurs three times (including in the title). Given that ships are the topic of interest in the poem, this instance of repetition has the basic effect of bringing the locus of the text back to the title, or central theme. The second example can be observed in the second and third lines, where the word sails is followed by moonsails, a made up compound version of the former word. Using the same word twice, and in this case, by adding on and modifying its second appearance, the reader is likely to acquire a clear picture of the scene that Whitman lays out in the poem. Emphasizing the image of the ship s sails by preceding the words with diction such as all and even attributes the sails to a sense of abundance or freedom. The third instance of repetition occurs in line four, where she speeds she speeds is used to describe the motions that the ship is making. Whereas it would be considered grammatically correct to include a comma after the first mention of she speeds, leaving it out better reflects the content of the poem: she speeds she speeds gives the impression of a ship slicing through the water quickly. In many cases, using the same word twice in a row takes away from a text s message, but in The Ship Starting, this repetition instead works in Whitman s favor by supporting the visual imagery he seeks to create. I think it should be Hi, my name is Gino, and I am here because I have a drinking or a drug problem and I need help to overcome it. So if that person overcomes it, they will say I accomplished something. I honestly believe that these meetings work to a certain extent. I believe very strongly that a person can overcome an alcohol or a drug problem. The meetings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Is Jay Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald´s The Great Gatsby, a... To decide whether Jay Gatsby is a good man or not, one must define what a good man really is. Although it is an extremely vague and layered term, a good man best fits the description of a man whose intentions are never meant to harm anyone. In addition, readers must remember that the Gatsby in the novel is Nick Carraway s version, and that is a very biased version. Yet, based off of the events depicted in The Great Gatsby, I believe that Jay Gatsby is a good man. Gatsby is not formally introduced until chapter three, and due to his initial description, readers hold him in much higher regard than other characters in the novel. Nick introduces Gatsby in an extremely intriguing and flattering manner, saying, He smiled understandingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regardless of how one would go about arguing how Jay Gatsby is not a good man , he is undeniably an embodiment of the American dream. Born James Gatz to two poor farmers in the Midwest, Gatsby s imaginations had never really accepted them as his parents at all. The truth was that Jay Gatsby ... sprang from his Platonic conception of himself. He was a son of God ... to this conception he was faithful to the end (98). The notion of the self made man alone is something that is honored within American society, and therefore, Jay Gatsby is an honorable person. Parallel to Benjamin Franklin, Gatsby envisioned the perfect man and left home with nothing in order to become that idealistic version of himself. Gatsby s similarity to Benjamin Franklin is highlighted by Mr. Gatz with Gatsby s childhood schedule seemingly based off of The Way to Wealth. Yet, being an honorable person alone does not make Gatsby a good man . What does make Gatsby a good man though, is his outstanding selflessness. Despite the immense wealth he gains, Jay Gatsby is always trying to do things for others, such as asking Nick on his boat, or giving a random party goer an entirely new dress after ruining their original dress at one of Gatsby s parties. Even in the case of Gatsby doing Nick favors, Gatsby does not expect anything in return from Nick, but he does hope for a reconnection with Daisy. Part of what really makes Gatsby a good ... • 39. Australia s Constitutional Democracy And The Federal System Throughout this essay, a comparison of both Australia s constitutional democracy and the federal republic system in the United States will take place. Australia and the United States are both a part of the federal system. Within the federal system, the national and state governments divide the power in order to govern (Parliamentary Education Office, 2016). Both Australia and the United States have two chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Parliament Education office, (2016) states that there are numerous similarities between these two countries, for example, both these nations decide on the making of legal guidelines for their government. However, Australia and the United States have different forms of government and this affects how the political system is managed. Australia is a constitutional monarchy, in which the queen is the head of the state (ABC, 2004), and the United States is the federal republic where the President is the head of state (Parliamentary Education Office, 2016). A constitution is a formal structure for the state and specifies the power and institutions of the central government and its relationship with different levels. Additionally, it expresses the rights of citizens and creates limits on the government (Hague Harrop, 2013). In a republic government, the people and their elected representative have the power and there may be an elected or nominated president (Stevenson, 2010). • 40. Italian Immigration To America Essay One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse reception of Catholic Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other Catholic European immigrants, was the attitude Italians held in regards to the country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants felt alienated in their new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was a direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true in the Italian Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely internal matter; it was also caused by American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on to say that this discriminating view held by Americans led to Italians being stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in the United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in schools which led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and students went as ... The term they used to describe this family centered way of life was Domus, or culture of the home. It was for this reason that the home was very important to the Italians. To highlight the importance of the domus that Italians brought to the United States, Covello made four principles of the domus, the points are; 10. One should stand by blood relatives in any situation whether they be right or wrong. 15. Married couples should never sever their relations with their parents. 17. Children should respect the friends and relatives to their parents and in their behavior conform to the opinions of these friends and relatives. 21. Husband and wife should represent the union of two blood groups and not the union of two people who mutually arouse each other s emotions. (Orsi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Full Metal Jacket Film Analysis Film Analysis Within every man resides good and evil; which quality manifests itself is determined by how one is raised and views the world. Stanley Kubrick s film Full Metal Jacket takes the concept of good or evil in man and shows how war, the marines, and government blur soldiers ideas of right or wrong. By injection of propaganda from these sources a misidentity is created within the solider. Once this misidentity has taken place it is the soldiers job to figure out what he is: a killing machine as he has been trained, or a bringer of peace to a war torn nation. A soldiers identity is stripped of him the second he enters boot camp. It first begins with the shaving of the head which likens boot camp to brain surgery, then continues ... Joker, however, redeems himself in the climax of the movie with the sniper scene. Even when the sniper has killed three of his fellow soldiers Joker does not have the ability to take her life. To the other men she is just another VC fighter trying to kill them. Joker, however, sees her for who she is: a young women of about eighteen and just as human as he and the rest of his squad. A clear signal of this is when the sniper gets shot once and all the marines are gathered around her. While the sniper is lying on the ground praying as she is dying, Joker asks the question, What do we do about her? The only response he receives is, Fuck her, let her rot. Here is where we see a clear distinction of what Joker has become compared to the rest of the soldiers. Though he is still accepted by all of his fellow soldiers he is reassured that he is different from the rest. Evil, which is represented by the other soldiers, is in constant struggle with some of the men s conscience while it has taken full control of others. • 42. Generation And The Silent Generation Society is inevitably divided by its inhabitants, as there is such a mass of individuals living amongst one established society, that it is only plausible to recognize that there will be cultural divides in its people throughout time. We are living in a world that is constantly changing. Due to the changes we have to adapt ourselves to interacting with people from different generations. A prime example would be the indifference between two major groups who exist in two different mental complacencies: Older generation versus younger. It is very obvious that these two groups have many differences; for instance, the Silent Generation came from a society much more regimented and different than that of today s Millennial. Although the events of the older generation lead up to the formation of today s society, part of the Silent Generation is still living in our modernization, and this results in a societal conflict. They had stronger opinions on traditional family matters, homosexuality was not widely accepted, and neither was the idea of feminism. If you looked at the Millennial generation, the subject of matter is that those ideals have vastly changed. Back in the early 1940s, fashion was much more modest, the entertainment much more regulated in innocence, and the views of people were much more close minded. If you were an inhabitant of that era, these environmental factors would essentially shape your opinions, to a certain extent, of course but to the point that you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Court Of A Bench Trial Essay Our judicial system works hard every day to uphold the rule of law. Whether you are sitting in on a case, watching Court TV, watching legal based movies, or whatever it may be, you notice that there are different parties and people involved in the whole charade. There are different jobs within our court system that coincide with each other to keep our courts strong and orderly. These jobs include: judge, bailiff, stenographer, jury, clerk, and prosecuting attorney. These different jobs have specific duties that help the court system thrive. Judges decide on the verdict if there is a bench trial. A bench trial is a trial by a judge as opposed to a trial by jury (Reuter, 2016). In a bench trial, the judge is an unbiased third party advocate for justice. He or she determines the appropriate punishment and sentence those convicted of crimes (Reuter, 2016). A judge takes on a couple of roles in a bench trial such as, that of the referee who rules on the admissibility of evidence and decides questions of law, and that of the finder of fact which ultimately determines how much weight to give the testimony of different witnesses and the credibility of the evidence (American Bar Association, n.d.). Some cases must be handled by a judge in a bench trial. A federal judge who presides may be an Article III, Judge or a Magistrate Judge (Gray,Ritter, Graham, P.C., 2015). • 47. Job Offer Negotiation How did you prepare for this negotiation? Why did you prepare in this manner? A. Identify the issues that you thought were the most important issues to be negotiated, and briefly explain why you thought they were the most important. In preparation for this negotiation, I studied the case diligently. I wrote down, what I felt were the key issues for Joe Tech. I also made a list of pros and cons associated with each issue. I prepared in this manner because it gave me the opportunity to effectively break down the issues of the case as well as focus on important goals without having the extra unneeded information also presented in the case outline. The target point for the salary issue I estimated at $88,000 with a resistance point of $88,000 with a $2000 increase after six months. I made this inference during the negotiation. $88,000 was the initial offer given by Bultema this is why I assume that the offer was the target point. As for the resistance point, during the negotiation as were talking about the salary, offered me $88,000 with a $2000 increase after six months. Her assertiveness to not go hire than that offer signaled to me her stake in the offer and to assume that the offer was her resistance point. According to Bultema, the interest behind this issue was that the salary offered was already higher than what is normally given to an entry level manager straight out of college. Therefore, to keep moral within the department, Bultema will try to offer the best salary that is closest to the median as possible. The last issues that I estimated were the incentives. For both the relocation package and signing bonus, I estimated the target point at $0. I estimated the resistance point $5000. I believe the interest behind this was the same as that for the salary. The department does not want to lose moral by having a person receiving incentives and salary higher than that of the average number employees in the department. D.
