Ostriches Research Paper
In the research of an african ostrich there are many well known facts, and facts that could not have
been known by just looking at the animal. Many people think that the ostrich is just an awkward
looking bird, but really it is one of the most unique. It has traits that are unlike any other birds, and it
also has very saddening consequences of these very rare characteristics. The ostrich is not as popular
as it used to be; nowadays its popularity is based on the ostrich as a whole, and not just on its feathers
for clothing designs. The ostrich has interesting features split between the male and female, it has a
very saddening background, it has very unique actions, the ostrich is also a farm animal in some cases,
and it even has special abilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edgar Williams has stated, Without the need to keep its mass low for flying, it has evolved long
muscular legs (Williams). Since the ostrich does not use its wings, its legs have become the strongest
part of its entire body. II. Ostriches used to be very popular to society back in the 1800 s through the
1900 s, and they were used for many different things such as: clothing, food, and for sport.
III. Ostriches act very different in many different circumstances; the women do their job and the men
do theirs.
IV. As strange as it might be, the ostrich is a farm animal. There are 3,000 ranchers growing around
300,000 ostriches in several states like Texas, California, Arizona, Indiana, and Illinois. (Watson,
Ostrich Farming Grows in Popularity ) This was stated by Mac Young, the executive director of the
American Ostrich Association; it shows that multiple ostriches are on farms, and that it is very
common in some states.
It is even said by the national wildlife federation that an ostrich drumstick weighs as much as 15
pounds. That s like eating a whole turkey! But most people prefer ostrich steaks, roasts, or burgers. (
Ostriches Odds and Ends ) This shows that ostriches are very big, and that their legs are very

The Chris Ofili Controversy Essay example
The Chris Ofili Controversy
Most people may not know who Chris Ofili is, but chances are that many of them know one of his
works, his painting The Holy Virgin Mary , displayed at the Brooklyn Museum of Art s Sensation
exhibition in 1999. The painting was extremely controversial because of Mary s exposed breast being
made of elephant dung and because of the porno cutouts surrounding Mary. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani
and others, saying that such works were not appropriate for public display, immediately attacked the
painting, along with the entire showcase of art by different artists. These sharp criticisms were an
extreme injustice, condemning the work The Holy Virgin Mary based on prejudiced views of what is
and what is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to gain a better understanding of how Ofili sees the work, it is important to look at the
background of the artist. Chris Ofili was born in Manchester, England, though his parents were both
born in Lagos. It is interesting to note that Ofili was raised as a Catholic, and even served as an altar
boy. He also continues to attend church, though not regularly. By the time his Holy Virgin Mary was
displayed, Ofili was already a rising young artist in England, having been included three times in the
Whitworth Young Contemporaries shows and winning a British Council Travel fellowship to
Zimbabwe, where he claims to have had an epiphany. While in Zimbabwe, he hit upon the idea of
sticking elephant dung to his art, and began using it regularly. Ofili liked working with it so much that
he not only used it in his paintings, but mounted his works on clumps of it, saying, It s a way of
raising the paintings up from the ground and giving them a feeling that they ve come from the earth
rather than simply being hung on a wall (qtd. in Cosentino 2). He enjoys using elephant dung so much
that he plans to continue using it, and although his first batch of dung was from Zimbabwe, he now
gets deliveries from the London Zoo. It is from his African background and experience in Zimbabwe
that he has gotten the ideas for his works, and it must be realized when looking at The Holy Virgin
Mary that it is based

New Paths Of The United Kingdom And London
New Paths
We decided to head over to the United Kingdom and London in particular wanting to take her on the
Millennium Wheel. I ve always wanted to go on it but had no one to accompany me. Now I have and
Lie Lyn is a part of me, so we will experience it together.
The flight was uneventful, and we arrived on time, but best of all my powers were under control and
there was no feeling of anything else happening. I thought to myself maybe this is it; I could relax and
enjoy my time with Lie Lyn. If only that had been the case but fate had other things in store for me
and Lie Lyn.
We headed to the most luxurious hotel in London as I want to let Lie Lyn get pampered. The evening
would start with the Millennium Wheel and then I would take her ... Show more content on

I turned myself and looked out over the city knowing things might not last so I needed to ensure the
tonight was for her. I put my arms around her and pulled her to me as I turned her around facing me.
Kissing her like there was never would be a tomorrow as a shiver ran down my back.
Come let s get back to our hotel as I need you more than anything else. I could see she knew
something was not right, but for the moment she saw I needed her. That night I held her so much she
was worrying, and I had to force myself to let her go. The morning came with rain so I asked if it
would be all right if we left and went over to France as I wanted to show her the Eifel Tower. Then the
feeling came on me again as I sat down and let it wash over me. All Lie Lyn could do was hold me as I
just sat and stared into space.
My mind was awash with fantastic light displays that only I can see, then she was there beside me and
I felt her love wash over me. This helped me gain control of my mind and she led me back to reality.
We sat there for hours as I tried to keep my mind at bay as it wanted control.
Your powers are getting stronger and soon you will struggle to keep control. You must use all the
controls you have learned to keep what is happening in your mind held. If you can keep control you ll
get stronger and be able to over rule your subconscious. That s what s causing the confusion you re
having.

The Pantheon As A Reflection Of The Roman Empire
The Pantheon is a structure that was built as a reflection of the Roman empire s wealth and power.
Back in its time, it served as a temple to all the Roman gods. These gods included Zeus, a sky god and
the father of gods, sea, earthquakes, and horses (Noble, T., Strauss, et al. 58). The gods were believed
to live on Mount Olympus, a 9,500 foot high peak in northern Greece and were called Olympians
(Noble, T. Strauss, et al. 58). What makes the Pantheon particularly remarkable is that it exists to this
day in roughly the same state as it had upon the completion of its construction and dedication to the
gods. Since its construction, the Pantheon has inspired numerous other buildings across the world and
has served as a staple in fascinating architecture. The tour I took of the Pantheon revealed that despite
its overall sound preservation there remain indications of weathering, age, and past attacks. I saw
numerous holes in the pediment and the original bronze fittings had been visibly ripped off. Another
visible difference that I noticed was that back in its time it was obscured by a colonnade and other
buildings, whereas during my tour it was surrounded by more modern structures. The front of the
Pantheon had massive columns supported by marble bases called monoliths, which had been imported
from Egypt rather than cut, which served as a demonstration of wealth. To pass inside the Pantheon, I
went under a rectilinear porch and through massive bronze doors. Then, I was

Banning Concealed Carry
There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870 (MST).
Guns are not a bad thing, it s the people carrying them. That is why I think there should be Gun
control that does not abuse the power of the rightfully armed. Stronger regulations are okay, but they
should not violate the Second Amendment. All states should have carry laws allowing concealed carry
in all states, while banning open carry of guns. Why should open carry should be banned? Because it
could be considered flourishing a gun. For example, Texas is now allowing open carry. Patrik Jonsson,
a staff writer at Student Issue Research (SIR), reports that Police are discouraged from even asking
about someone s holstered gun. If they do, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Open carry should be banned in all states because you re practically flourishing your gun for
everyone, including criminals, to see all the time. With concealed carry, you re required to provide a
permit showing you are legally carrying, However, with open carry an officer can walk up and ask for
your gun permit, but can do little if they refuse. Open carry could allow a mass murderer or a terrorist
to walk in public with a weapon and gather little suspicion from nearby people. Concealed carry is not
visible to others. In a state with open carry, your gun could be snatched out of a open holster. In a state
that allows concealed carry, who s going to know you have a gun? Guns are weapons of self defense,
not toys to flourish to the public eye. Guns don t kill people, people kill people. This is why we should
have tighter regulations on guns. Again, my opinion is that concealed carry should be allowed in all
states. In addition, all states should have carry rules and open carry should be banned. We can try stop
mass shootings, but not by restricting the average person s gun rights. We can stop some of the killing,
but let s not make the righteous

Advantages Of The Dsm-5 Classification System
Essay Questions to the DSM IV Rodney Thomas Sr. Western International University Abnormal
Psychology BEH 440 3281 Professor, Mollie Surgine December 18, 2017 Essay questions to the DSM
The DSM is a classified system used by psychiatrist and other clinical professions in order to diagnose
clients and patients who show signs of some type of disorder. The two advantages of using this model
or classification system ranges from the validity of an assessment used by clinicians and other health
care professionals. Build around the concepts and purposes for the DSM model is that it supports a
number of standard assessments of diagnosing different treatment providers. Furthermore, (Comer, J.
2016) suggest that the DSM 5 requires clinicians to provide both categorical and dimensional
information which is part of being consistent in diagnosing. From a categorical perspective this refers
to the name of a particular category of a disorder which is indicated on behalf of the client s
symptoms. From the dimensional perspective it is a rating of how the client symptoms and the severity
of the dysfunction through various dimensions. Drawbacks The controversy and criticism surrounding
the DSM 5 models has raised questions about its credibility and has raised concerns from the public
on the reliability and effectiveness. Problems with this classification system is the attempt to promote

A Brief Note On The Upper Wabash River
The Upper Wabash River faces a vast majority of issues that affect the quality of the watershed. The
watershed has long been used for agricultural purposes that cause stress on the watershed. Through
various point source and non point source pollution various water systems have been affected with
some being even impaired.
3.1 Nutrients
One of the major stresses within the Upper Wabash River is nutrients. The state of Indiana has a target
of 10 mg/L of nitrate levels. During an water quality study there were 178 nitrate samples collected
with 109 of the samples exceeding the target. Nitrate concentrations ranged from 9.34 mg/L to 34.48
mg/L with the highest coming from the Moser Lake and Eight Mile Creek. The total nitrogen levels of

load is 2,266,189, and the total E. coli load is 12,700,396 billion of organisms annually. The nitrate
load is above the target load (51,380,095 pounds) of the area, along with total phosphorus (1,541,400
pounds), and E. coli (5,479,370 billion of organisms). Every subwatershed within the Upper Wabash
River Watershed is over the target load for E. coli and every subwatershed but one is over the nitrate
target load. (Upper Wabash River Watershed Management Plan ~ Phase 2, 2015)
3.2 Agricultural Run off To enhance crop production in the area farmers apply commercial fertilizers,
legumes, crop residue, manure, and land applied sludge to their crops. While these products help with
crop production they contain high nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. Excess nutrients are a
major cause to impaired biotic communities and algae blooms. When algae blooms occur the
dissolved oxygen content within the water decreases. (Upper Wabash River Watershed Management
Plan ~ Phase 2, 2015) Tillage practices can results erosion and sedimentation within the Upper
Wabash River Watershed. When erosion occurs sediment is carried into the water causing
sedimentation. The water becomes cloudy due to sedimentation when the soil particles suspend within
the water column. The soil particles can also clough

The Implementation Of School Uniforms
Syanne Chhan
Mrs. Gallos
English III Honors
18 April 2016
Title of Your Report
A newly popular, controversial issue debated upon is the implementation of school uniforms. In the
United States, school uniforms have become more and more widespread. Although, some schools
disagree with the requirement of a school uniform and decide to require a school dress code instead.
The pros and cons of a school uniform are very controversial. Deciding whether a school uniform
should be implemented is not a black and white issue.
Arguments to support school uniforms state that school uniforms create an altogether better
environment for students. This better environment in turn, creates more learning and a greater sense of
focus from students. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Cons, Pro) Requiring all students to wear the same uniform creates less diversity and causes students
to become more dedicated in their academics. By doing so, uniforms, take away the daily fashion
show and helps level the playing field a little bit with the haves and have nots, (Sweeney, Emily).
Relating to the less diversity that uniforms create in schools, uniforms can decrease the formation of
cliques and gangs. Due to the fact that all students are dressed the same, members of a certain gang
can not be identified. Another positive about implementing uniforms is that students can be easily
identified and the identification of an intruder or outsider can take place easily.
Uniforms create pride and unity throughout a school. Some experts believe that uniforms help students
to, develop a stronger team mentality among the student body, (9 Serious). Uniforms can in turn,
increase school spirit. This is possible, again relating to, the students all wearing the same or similar
uniforms and decreasing the variety of outfits throughout a student body.
Some arguments that are seen as positives for enforcing school uniforms are controversial because
critics believe the arguments are not valid. Due to the fact that all students are dressed the same and
less variety of outfits are prevalent, critics state that school uniforms deny students the ability of self
expression. Critics, argue that kids

Behind the walls of the Ghetto Essay
Behind the Walls of the Ghetto
Commenting on the famed Los Angeles ghetto in which he grew up, gangster rapper Ice Cube asserts,
If you ain t never been to the ghetto, don t ever come to the ghetto (Cube, Ghetto Vet). But why are
American ghettos filled with so much violence, drugs, and inopportunity? In John Singleton s
powerful drama Boyz N the Hood the harsh reality of youths growing up in South Central Los
Angeles, a place where drive by shootings and unemployment are rampant, is brought to life. Shot

(Glaeser 1)
The isolation of these areas seems to be the main element that is fueling the influx of violence, drugs,
and unemployment. The area of Los Angeles in which Boyz N the Hood was filmed, deemed South
Central, is a mere 12 miles from the downtown area. It s hard to believe that only 12 miles from one of
the cities that virtually defines American culture; gunfire, drugs, and retched living conditions, are
commonplace. The upper class provinces of LA such as Beverly Hills and Bel Air, which are quite
differently a prime area of opportunity and big business, are the first thought of when describing the
cultural make up of the Los Angeles area.
The structural characteristics of the ghetto are a reflection of its situation. Fortification appears to
epitomize the ghetto in America today, just as back alleys, crowded tenements, and lack of play areas
defined the slum of the late nineteenth century. In an essay dealing with the fortification of ghettos,
Camillo Jose Vergara points out:
Even in areas where statistics show a decrease in major crime, fortification continues to escalate, and
as it does, ghettos lose their coherence. Neighborhoods are replaced by a random assortment of
isolated bunkers, structures that increasingly resemble jails or power stations, their interiors effectively
separated from the outside. (Vergara 1)

Muscular De Duchenne E Uma Doenca
A Distrofia Muscular de Duchenne é uma doença hereditária, caracterizada por uma degeneração
muscular progressiva, causando fraqueza (Emery, 1993). Por ser uma condição recessiva ligada ao
cromossomo X , a DMD afeta predominantemente meninos, e estudos recentes reportam que sua
incidência geral corresponde a 1:4087 (Mendell at al., 2012).
fenótipo menos severo do que o humano (Berg et al., 2011; Sicinski et al., 1989; Itagaki et al., 1995;

Comparing My Sister s Keeper And The Fault In Our Stars
So let us start with that word Cancer. What is Cancer? Some people might just know that it is a disease
but they don t know what exactly Cancer is. According to Cancer Treatment Center of America Cancer
is the disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. When
someone had a person in their family or someone that they are close to hit by some type of cancer and
it affects everyone but they all find some way to help that person and care for that person because they

There Should Be Moderated Always Analysis
Is it really necessary to comment on someone else s page to bother and hurt the other person?
Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control, makes the other person
upset and it starts to become something normal to people.
Comments should be moderated always because comments get out of control easily. People start
commenting on YouTube channels giving their opinion and another person comes and starts
commenting negative things. Then another person sees someone else trolling and they want to do the
same. For example, every time I go to a YouTube channel there s always someone who comments

Youtubers or people involved in social media get told things that upset them in a way that they want to
quit what they re doing instead of ignoring them. They are emotionally harmed by what others say to

of work to get a lot of people angry. It s not in the best interest of a publication or writer s care to do
that. But maybe I m naïve.(D addario 422) This shows that it s hard for people on social media to
cause such hate on trollers that they would want to waste their time by commenting negative things.
Another Example would be Trolling provokes a reaction, usually negative. Trolling is apparently quite
easy to do. But, if only to better grid one s own defenses against it what is trolling?(D addario 421)
Every person is different and they might take the negative comments especially if the same person
keeps bothering them with the same thing all over again. They also start to get depressed and may start
to loose interest in what they love

c.480 BC~404 BC was the time of the Golden Age, aka the Age of Pericles. A severe plague struck
Athens in c.430 BC, in the 2nd year of the Peloponnesian War.
The plague killed about 1/3 of the people.
Many people died alone because nobody wanted to take the risk of caring for them.
The plague may have come from Piraeus, the city s port, brought by germs on rats.
Pericles died of the plague. The Parthenon was the chief temple of the goddess Athena. It is located

The American Revolution And The Indian War
The American Revolution took place in 1754 1781. The revolution was marked by the beginning of
the French and the Indian war. This war primarily took place in America. The war involved France
and Britain. They were fighting for colonial supremacy in the American North. The colonizers that
were mostly the British officials who sought the opinions of the general public. This was led to the
war in 1754 at the Albany Congress. The American s fought together with the British while the French
joined forces with the different Native tribe. This revolution is referred to as the French and Indian
War. The British ended the French Indian War that lasted for seven years (1754 1763) by capturing
Canadian key forts and France key cities in Ohio Valley. During the Pontiac s Uprising, Pontiac was
the chief of Ottawa. Pontiac led native tribes to join together and raided American settlements and
British forts in Ohio Valley. These raids were signs of the tribes rebelling against foreigners, who were
stealing tribal lands. The British forces were powerful, and the Pontiac s rallies were subdued. George
Grenville s solution was a proclamation, issued in 1763, temporarily banning all colonial settlement
west of the Appalachian Mountains (Berkin 2014). The Proclamation Line of 1763 was the boundary
that Britain established in the Appalachian Mountains, west of which white settlement was banned; it
was intended to reduce conflict between Indians and colonists (Belkin 2014).

Marcus Aurelius Analysis
Marcus Aurelius would have had mixed feelings about the collapse of the Roman Empire in the mid to
late third century AD. Marcus was undeniably aware of change and accepted it as a part of life that
was consistent, and that accepting change is basically equivalent to being one with nature. Marcus said
Words that everyone once used are now obsolete, and so are the men whose names were once on
everyone s lips: Camillus, Caeso, Volesus, Dentatus, and to a lesser degree Scipio and Cato, and yes,
even Augustus, Hadrian, and Antoninus are less spoken of now than they were in their own days. For
all things fade away, become the stuff of legend, and are soon buried in oblivion. The enormous
magnitude of emperors claiming the throne during the third century, and the speed at which they were

There s no possible way that he would have been glaring into the past and yearning for times of other
prominent emperors because he understood that there was no control over the past or future.
Moreover, the present was the only moment that each individual owned and it was fleeting, and
Aurelian made exceptional use of it. The Emperor Aurelian made exceptional strides in reunifying the
Roman Empire from the rebel leaders Zenobia and Tetricus, and attempted to mend the broken
economy. Aurelian managed to reunify the Roman Empire and give the inhabitants a little sense of
security that they had been missing. Marcus was a firm believer in grasping the moment and living in
the present, as he said we live only in the present, in this fleet footed moment. Aurelian was the
second Emperor in a row who attempted to better the political situation in the Empire, and truly made
no excuse of the horrible hand he was dealt. Marcus would have been an admirer of Aurelian s
military and political successes. Over the course of the third century AD, the silver content of the

Mother Son Conflict In The Odyssey
There is a common theme in Greek Mythology of children fighting with, overthrowing, and often
killing their parents. Zeus kills his father Cronus to rise to power as the king of the Olympian gods.
Prior to this, Cronus had killed his own father, Uranus, which lead to the rise of the Titans.
Perhaps you re confused. No one kills their parents in the books we read in class, you re probably
thinking. In this, you are correct. However, Telemachus relationship with his mother Penelope still fits
some aspects of this trope of struggling in the assumption of power from his parents. His murder of
the maids at his father s command is influenced by his attempting to prevail in this mother son
conflict.
In order to present this concept in my media project, I created a comic detailing Telemachus
hypothetical thought process, the people and statements I d imagine were passing through his mind the
moment before he murdered the maids. In doing so, I can justify my thesis. Sections from the comic
and the quotations that go along with them will appear on the screen behind me as I provide literary
analysis, and at the end I ll show the comic in full.
To begin, in order to prove the murders were influenced by the conflict, it must first be proven that
there is a conflict. Shortly after the introductory section of the Odyssey, we see Telemachus telling his
mother to go back to her quarters and tend to her distaff and loom . Then, he reminds her he holds the
reins of power in their house.

Showing a Different Facet of Saudi Arabia in Rajaa...
Introduction
Rajaa Alsanea presents her readers with a society, Saudi Arabia, which is often labelled as archaic and
suppressive. However, her novel, Girls of Riyadh (2007), portrays another facet of Saudi Arabia. The
author takes Saudi society as standpoint to offer an insider s account of the situations and conditions
of four Saudi girlfriends; Gamrah, Sadeem, Michelle and Lamees. Although the four highly
fashionable and stylish girls from the velvet class lead a modern life, they still oscillate between their
desire for freedom and cultural patriarchal norms that they have internalised. Although Saudi Arabia is
claimed to be Islamic , Islamic feminists argue that Muslim men wrongly interpret the Islamic
traditions and Koran to uphold their misogynistic values.
History of Saudi Arabia
To be able to understand the prevailing situation in the Saudi system, it is essential to scrutinize
different elements of Saudi Arabian history. Amongst the dominant paradigms patriarchy is a legacy of
tribal history. Before the advent of Islam, Saudi Arabia was well known as the Jahiliyya that is the age
of ignorance . During this era, there was an absence of political structure with proper constitution. The
societal constructions depended primarily on the tribal communities which embodied several clans.
The leader of each tribe was called a Sheikh who was selected according to their physical strength and
character and he had absolute authority over every individual.

Jeffery Katzenberg s Influence On The Disney Animation...
It is evident that Jeffery Katzenberg played a significant role in the Walt Disney Animation Studios
during this time period. In his role as head of film, he expressed power in differing ways to
accomplish different objectives. Throughout the documentary Katzenberg displays a transactional
style of leadership. Leading from the top, early on, he attempted to cement his position of power
highlighting his ability to deliver commands to the animators and control integral decisions (Bass,
1991). On his first project with the studio, The Black Cauldron, Katzenberg displays legitimate power
when believes the film to be too violent and despite protests from the animators insists cuts and
changes must be made to the film (Hahn, 2009). French and Raven (1959), define legitimate power as
the right due to status to prescribe behaviour to others; in simpler terms, to tell someone what to do.
The animators likened the actions of Katzenberg to causing world war three and thus a power struggle
ensues. Robins and Judge (2008) theorise that situations in which there are low levels of trust and high
levels of uncertainty within an organisation increase the likelihood of resistance from employees. This
rang true in the Disney animation department as many of the animators showed resistance to
Katzenberg s leadership and authority refusing to make the changes he wanted (Hahn, 2009). In
retaliation Katzenberg displays an instant of coercive power defined by French and Raven (1959) as a

Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet Essay example
Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet
Franco Zefferelli s film, Hamlet, adapted from Shakespeare s text, Mel Gibson s Hamlet, struts and
frets his life in Denmark, convincing almost everyone that he is mad. The film bases the question of
whether or not Hamlet is actually insane almost solely on Gibson s acting interpretations, but
Zefferelli s editing choices assist in making the point that Hamlet is not insane, but either in a fog of
confusion and anger from his grief, or pretending to be mad to manipulate others.
In the film, the morning after Hamlet sees his father s ghost, there is a silent scene between Ophelia
and Hamlet. He appears to Ophelia, disheveled and obviously emotionally distressed. He seems to try

The play within a play succeeds at catching the conscience of the King (3.1.582). In the film, Hamlet
dances exultantly with the players and says to Horatio joyfully, I ll take the Ghost s word for a
thousand pound (3.2.263 4). Claudius reaction to the play of running out and then going to confession
makes Hamlet believe that Claudius did, in fact, murder King Hamlet. In the final two acts of the film,
Mel Gibson rarely descends into fits of rage and depression. Instead, he puts on the act of madness by
appearing playful or irrational around other characters to help him in the process of revenge.
Hamlet abuses Polonius assumption that Hamlet is mad by constantly behaving as such around him. In
the film, he appears disheveled, engages in wordplay, and even throws Polonius off a ladder. Mel
Gibson s acting choices make it clear that Hamlet is merely pretending because, as soon as Polonius is
out of sight, he usually has a ponderous soliloquy devoid of the mad mannerisms present with
Polonius. This manipulation is especially present in the scene in which Hamlet tells Ophelia that he
never loved her (3.1). In the film, Hamlet sees the king, queen, and Polonius run to hide and watch the
conversation. During the scene, Hamlet tells Ophelia sotto voce, I did love you once (3.1.116). Then,
he yells, I loved you not (3.1.119 120). Gibson s change in volume and tone of voice proves that he is

The Causes Of Suicidal Ideation
Suicidal Ideation
Most suicidal people do not want death, they just want the pain to stop, so how can the pain they feel
be resolved? The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to
prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of
their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest
of signs of suicide.
Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety
disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so
overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful
situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering.
People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest
thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing
suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once
loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a
symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal
people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment,
so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders.
The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces
of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental
illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide
are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic
influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia,
and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. Genetics have a large influence on suicidal
thoughts and mental illnesses, although it s not something you can prevent, you can protect yourself

was important for Republicans, as they set out to obtain control over the executive branch of

Nast displays how the ape like, Irish drunkard, with his cigars and alcohol bottles is allowed to vote,
yet the black man who fought for the Union in an effort to unify the nation is unable to vote. Another
aspect of irony displayed in this cartoon has to do with the background, in which a Freedman s school
is burning and a black man has been lynched. These two actions, taken out by supporters of the
Democratic party are violations of the black people s rights to education, as well as safety to live in
America. The irony is that the Democrats describe the Reconstruction Acts as unconstitutional [and]
revolutionary while the actions being carried out by Democrats are just that, and Nast s cartoon serves
to point that out. The final irony, a sad one is created by the inclusion of an American flag below the
black Union soldier. This flag shows that the actions being taken by the Democrats are not only
hurting the black people and preventing them from advancing as a society, but are preventing America
from advancing as a nation. It shows the result of the Democrats actions and provides warning to the

Astraea Research Paper
Astraea: Star Coral
Astraea, also known as star coral, are typically in the shape of what can be described as boulders,
domes, or cones. However, less often they can be found in the form of flat plates or thick crusts (Great
Star Coral, n.d.).. These colonies of coral grow to be up to 2.5 m in diameter. The color of Astraea can
vary between green, brown, gray, orange, and red; the coral is more often bright red and orange during
the day due to a cyanobacterial protein, which is an essential source of nitrogen (EDGE: Coral Reef
Species, 2008). They only move very slightly in an almost, floating like manner. Astraea can be found
in almost all reef environments, and it is usually the most dominant coral at depths between 12 and 30
m (Kluijver, n.d.). These are often the most sedimented areas of the reef, which is where the Astraea
thrive, due to their build. The colonies have very steep sides, which allows the sediment to simply, roll
off the coral. If there is still sediment that settles into the colony, the polyps will produce waves of

Prisons are defined as buildings in which people are legally held as a punishment for a crime they
have committed or while awaiting trial. Prisoners are usually convicted of a crime, such as shoplifting

answer lies within Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. Written by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
is a novel that was first published in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement. Thus, it is logical
that the novel is set in 1930s Maycomb, Alabama, a setting that contains deep rooted racism and social

You may have heard the term Big Data often these days and the importance of analytics attached to it.
The availability of good data set and analytics of it provide organizations ability to understand
consumer behavior and future prospects. This has now become an essential part of every business
operation. Data itself is not a new thing to humans, written records have been in existence since 4th
millennium BC. What has changed recently is that with digital inventions and significant growth in

For most organizations, data analysis is a challenging task, as first it require dealing with both
structured and unstructured forms of data. Then an organization may have to deal with data stored
across many separate silos (as various groups such as sales marketing; operations and supply chain
management etc., may have separate IT systems). It is also quite possible that most of the silo systems
do not talk to each other, this is especially true of the legacy platforms which may have technical
challenges in connecting to each other or may require use of special software interfaces. Lastly the
volume of data is large to process and the traditional tools may not be effective to do such analysis. To
handle various types of data (structured and unstructured) and large data volumes, many vendors have
developed specialized software which can perform predictive analysis, data mining, forecasting and
optimization. Together these tools are referred to as high performance analytics.
In comparison to the traditional business intelligence, big data does provide major improvements.
Traditional business intelligence is top down approach whereas big data is bottom up and empowers
end users with a valuable analysis thus enabling them to take prompt and smart business decisions.
The value generated from big data analytics is applicable to all sectors. The advantages of big data
analytics are huge but it also raise serious concerns

Graphic Design And Interface Design
As we all know, the roles of design are satisfying daily needs of people as well as improving the
quality of their lives. Not only that, design, as a part of the arts industries, also need aesthetic
judgment. That is why visual designer came up. In this essay, I will contrast graphic design with
interface design , compare them in three different ways including historical technological and
conceptual development and discuss the connection as well as development potential of them. In any
case, the development trend of two kinds of design industries is inseparable. And throughout all of the
contemporary design styles, I prefer flat design.
If we contrast graphic design and interface differently, we can consider the biggest difference is that
graphic design can allow convey a little abstract , which is brand oriented, while interface design is
totally customer oriented. Although the function of both of them is communicate information. For
instance, here is a picture of Soviet poster called Beat the whites with Red wedge (El Lissitzky, 1920).

The Role Of Community In African And Middle Eastern...
Literature is defined as, writings in prose or verse; especially : writings having excellence of form or
expression and expressing ideas of permanent or universal interest (Merriam Webster). In both African
and Middle Eastern literature, there is an overlap in theme, motif, and ideas. There is an awareness of
community over oneself present in both forms of literature. The role of women in both societies is
viewed as one of a lesser importance than the male presence. A discrepancy in the similarity between
Middle Eastern and African literature is the presence of a mystical unexplainable presence in African
literature. The presence of community and its role is presented in both African and Middle Eastern
literature. These themes can be seen a variety of times in both pieces of literature. In The Beekeeper s
Journey the idea of inclusivity and community is presented as the author writes, He could not fire a
rifle with accuracy, he could not use a blade with any skill, and he knew nothing about fighting, so he
would die... (The Beekeeper s Journey 8). In this Abbas (The main character of the story) is so
committed to a sense of duty that he is willing to die for his community. Through this connection to
his community, he is knowingly entering a battle with the knowledge that he will die. Thus furthering
the idea of community over oneself in this story and many others that fall into the same genre of

The change in the company s debt composition will change ratios such as debt to capital which is used

  • 2. Ostriches Research Paper In the research of an african ostrich there are many well known facts, and facts that could not have been known by just looking at the animal. Many people think that the ostrich is just an awkward looking bird, but really it is one of the most unique. It has traits that are unlike any other birds, and it also has very saddening consequences of these very rare characteristics. The ostrich is not as popular as it used to be; nowadays its popularity is based on the ostrich as a whole, and not just on its feathers for clothing designs. The ostrich has interesting features split between the male and female, it has a very saddening background, it has very unique actions, the ostrich is also a farm animal in some cases, and it even has special abilities ... Since the ostrich does not use its wings, its legs have become the strongest part of its entire body. II. Ostriches used to be very popular to society back in the 1800 s through the 1900 s, and they were used for many different things such as: clothing, food, and for sport. III. Ostriches act very different in many different circumstances; the women do their job and the men do theirs. IV. As strange as it might be, the ostrich is a farm animal. There are 3,000 ranchers growing around 300,000 ostriches in several states like Texas, California, Arizona, Indiana, and Illinois. (Watson, Ostrich Farming Grows in Popularity ) This was stated by Mac Young, the executive director of the American Ostrich Association; it shows that multiple ostriches are on farms, and that it is very common in some states. It is even said by the national wildlife federation that an ostrich drumstick weighs as much as 15 pounds. That s like eating a whole turkey! • 4. The Chris Ofili Controversy Essay example The Chris Ofili Controversy Most people may not know who Chris Ofili is, but chances are that many of them know one of his works, his painting The Holy Virgin Mary , displayed at the Brooklyn Museum of Art s Sensation exhibition in 1999. The painting was extremely controversial because of Mary s exposed breast being made of elephant dung and because of the porno cutouts surrounding Mary. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and others, saying that such works were not appropriate for public display, immediately attacked the painting, along with the entire showcase of art by different artists. These sharp criticisms were an extreme injustice, condemning the work The Holy Virgin Mary based on prejudiced views of what is and what is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to gain a better understanding of how Ofili sees the work, it is important to look at the background of the artist. Chris Ofili was born in Manchester, England, though his parents were both born in Lagos. It is interesting to note that Ofili was raised as a Catholic, and even served as an altar boy. He also continues to attend church, though not regularly. By the time his Holy Virgin Mary was displayed, Ofili was already a rising young artist in England, having been included three times in the Whitworth Young Contemporaries shows and winning a British Council Travel fellowship to Zimbabwe, where he claims to have had an epiphany. While in Zimbabwe, he hit upon the idea of sticking elephant dung to his art, and began using it regularly. Ofili liked working with it so much that he not only used it in his paintings, but mounted his works on clumps of it, saying, It s a way of raising the paintings up from the ground and giving them a feeling that they ve come from the earth rather than simply being hung on a wall (qtd. in Cosentino 2). He enjoys using elephant dung so much that he plans to continue using it, and although his first batch of dung was from Zimbabwe, he now gets deliveries from the London Zoo. It is from his African background and experience in Zimbabwe that he has gotten the ideas for his works, and it must be realized when looking at The Holy Virgin Mary that it is based ... I ve always wanted to go on it but had no one to accompany me. Now I have and Lie Lyn is a part of me, so we will experience it together. The flight was uneventful, and we arrived on time, but best of all my powers were under control and there was no feeling of anything else happening. I thought to myself maybe this is it; I could relax and enjoy my time with Lie Lyn. If only that had been the case but fate had other things in store for me and Lie Lyn. We headed to the most luxurious hotel in London as I want to let Lie Lyn get pampered. The evening would start with the Millennium Wheel and then I would take her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I turned myself and looked out over the city knowing things might not last so I needed to ensure the tonight was for her. I put my arms around her and pulled her to me as I turned her around facing me. Kissing her like there was never would be a tomorrow as a shiver ran down my back. Come let s get back to our hotel as I need you more than anything else. I could see she knew something was not right, but for the moment she saw I needed her. That night I held her so much she was worrying, and I had to force myself to let her go. The morning came with rain so I asked if it would be all right if we left and went over to France as I wanted to show her the Eifel Tower. Then the feeling came on me again as I sat down and let it wash over me. All Lie Lyn could do was hold me as I just sat and stared into space. My mind was awash with fantastic light displays that only I can see, then she was there beside me and I felt her love wash over me. • 6. The Pantheon As A Reflection Of The Roman Empire The Pantheon is a structure that was built as a reflection of the Roman empire s wealth and power. Back in its time, it served as a temple to all the Roman gods. These gods included Zeus, a sky god and the father of gods, sea, earthquakes, and horses (Noble, T., Strauss, et al. 58). The gods were believed to live on Mount Olympus, a 9,500 foot high peak in northern Greece and were called Olympians (Noble, T. Strauss, et al. 58). What makes the Pantheon particularly remarkable is that it exists to this day in roughly the same state as it had upon the completion of its construction and dedication to the gods. Since its construction, the Pantheon has inspired numerous other buildings across the world and has served as a staple in fascinating architecture. The tour I took of the Pantheon revealed that despite its overall sound preservation there remain indications of weathering, age, and past attacks. I saw numerous holes in the pediment and the original bronze fittings had been visibly ripped off. Another visible difference that I noticed was that back in its time it was obscured by a colonnade and other buildings, whereas during my tour it was surrounded by more modern structures. The front of the Pantheon had massive columns supported by marble bases called monoliths, which had been imported from Egypt rather than cut, which served as a demonstration of wealth. To pass inside the Pantheon, I went under a rectilinear porch and through massive bronze doors. Then, I was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That is why I think there should be Gun control that does not abuse the power of the rightfully armed. Stronger regulations are okay, but they should not violate the Second Amendment. All states should have carry laws allowing concealed carry in all states, while banning open carry of guns. Why should open carry should be banned? Because it could be considered flourishing a gun. Open carry should be banned in all states because you re practically flourishing your gun for everyone, including criminals, to see all the time. With concealed carry, you re required to provide a permit showing you are legally carrying, However, with open carry an officer can walk up and ask for your gun permit, but can do little if they refuse. Open carry could allow a mass murderer or a terrorist to walk in public with a weapon and gather little suspicion from nearby people. Concealed carry is not visible to others. In a state with open carry, your gun could be snatched out of a open holster. In a state that allows concealed carry, who s going to know you have a gun? Guns are weapons of self defense, not toys to flourish to the public eye. Guns don t kill people, people kill people. This is why we should have tighter regulations on guns. Again, my opinion is that concealed carry should be allowed in all states. In addition, all states should have carry rules and open carry should be banned. It s hard to believe that only 12 miles from one of the cities that virtually defines American culture; gunfire, drugs, and retched living conditions, are commonplace. Fortification appears to epitomize the ghetto in America today, just as back alleys, crowded tenements, and lack of play areas defined the slum of the late nineteenth century. In an essay dealing with the fortification of ghettos, Camillo Jose Vergara points out: Even in areas where statistics show a decrease in major crime, fortification continues to escalate, and as it does, ghettos lose their coherence. • 15. No one kills their parents in the books we read in class, you re probably thinking. In this, you are correct. However, Telemachus relationship with his mother Penelope still fits some aspects of this trope of struggling in the assumption of power from his parents. His murder of the maids at his father s command is influenced by his attempting to prevail in this mother son conflict. In order to present this concept in my media project, I created a comic detailing Telemachus hypothetical thought process, the people and statements I d imagine were passing through his mind the moment before he murdered the maids. In his role as head of film, he expressed power in differing ways to accomplish different objectives. Throughout the documentary Katzenberg displays a transactional style of leadership. Leading from the top, early on, he attempted to cement his position of power highlighting his ability to deliver commands to the animators and control integral decisions (Bass, 1991). On his first project with the studio, The Black Cauldron, Katzenberg displays legitimate power when believes the film to be too violent and despite protests from the animators insists cuts and changes must be made to the film (Hahn, 2009). French and Raven (1959), define legitimate power as the right due to status to prescribe behaviour to others; in simpler terms, to tell someone what to do. The animators likened the actions of Katzenberg to causing world war three and thus a power struggle ensues. Robins and Judge (2008) theorise that situations in which there are low levels of trust and high levels of uncertainty within an organisation increase the likelihood of resistance from employees. This rang true in the Disney animation department as many of the animators showed resistance to Katzenberg s leadership and authority refusing to make the changes he wanted (Hahn, 2009). Claudius reaction to the play of running out and then going to confession makes Hamlet believe that Claudius did, in fact, murder King Hamlet. In the final two acts of the film, Mel Gibson rarely descends into fits of rage and depression. Instead, he puts on the act of madness by appearing playful or irrational around other characters to help him in the process of revenge. Hamlet abuses Polonius assumption that Hamlet is mad by constantly behaving as such around him. In the film, he appears disheveled, engages in wordplay, and even throws Polonius off a ladder. Mel Gibson s acting choices make it clear that Hamlet is merely pretending because, as soon as Polonius is out of sight, he usually has a ponderous soliloquy devoid of the mad mannerisms present with Polonius. This manipulation is especially present in the scene in which Hamlet tells Ophelia that he never loved her (3.1). • 25. The Causes Of Suicidal Ideation Suicidal Ideation Most suicidal people do not want death, they just want the pain to stop, so how can the pain they feel be resolved? The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest of signs of suicide. Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering. People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment, so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders. The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia, and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. Genetics have a large influence on suicidal thoughts and mental illnesses, although it s not something you can prevent, you can protect yourself and others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the time, congress was radically Republican, yet had trouble passing legislature due to the Democratic President in office, Andrew Johnson. The election of 1868 election was important for Republicans, as they set out to obtain control over the executive branch of government. Thomas Nast was one of many editorial cartoonists to expose the Democratic party s resistance towards reconstruction during the campaign season of the election of 1868. Nast displays how the ape like, Irish drunkard, with his cigars and alcohol bottles is allowed to vote, yet the black man who fought for the Union in an effort to unify the nation is unable to vote. Another aspect of irony displayed in this cartoon has to do with the background, in which a Freedman s school is burning and a black man has been lynched. These two actions, taken out by supporters of the Democratic party are violations of the black people s rights to education, as well as safety to live in America. The irony is that the Democrats describe the Reconstruction Acts as unconstitutional [and] revolutionary while the actions being carried out by Democrats are just that, and Nast s cartoon serves to point that out. The final irony, a sad one is created by the inclusion of an American flag below the black Union soldier. This flag shows that the actions being taken by the Democrats are not only hurting the black people and preventing them from advancing as a society, but are preventing America from advancing as a nation. It shows the result of the Democrats actions and provides warning to the Republicans that they need to get out and vote or else their country will ultimately pay the ... However, less often they can be found in the form of flat plates or thick crusts (Great Star Coral, n.d.).. These colonies of coral grow to be up to 2.5 m in diameter. The color of Astraea can vary between green, brown, gray, orange, and red; the coral is more often bright red and orange during the day due to a cyanobacterial protein, which is an essential source of nitrogen (EDGE: Coral Reef Species, 2008). They only move very slightly in an almost, floating like manner. Astraea can be found in almost all reef environments, and it is usually the most dominant coral at depths between 12 and 30 m (Kluijver, n.d.). These are often the most sedimented areas of the reef, which is where the Astraea thrive, due to their build. The colonies have very steep sides, which allows the sediment to simply, roll off the coral. Prisoners are usually convicted of a crime, such as shoplifting or murder. However, can imprisonment be caused by simply going against social dynamics? The answer lies within Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. Written by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel that was first published in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement. Thus, it is logical that the novel is set in 1930s Maycomb, Alabama, a setting that contains deep rooted racism and social dynamics. • 36. The Role Of Community In African And Middle Eastern... Literature is defined as, writings in prose or verse; especially : writings having excellence of form or expression and expressing ideas of permanent or universal interest (Merriam Webster). In both African and Middle Eastern literature, there is an overlap in theme, motif, and ideas. There is an awareness of community over oneself present in both forms of literature. The role of women in both societies is viewed as one of a lesser importance than the male presence. A discrepancy in the similarity between Middle Eastern and African literature is the presence of a mystical unexplainable presence in African literature. The presence of community and its role is presented in both African and Middle Eastern literature. These themes can be seen a variety of times in both pieces of literature. In The Beekeeper s Journey the idea of inclusivity and community is presented as the author writes, He could not fire a rifle with accuracy, he could not use a blade with any skill, and he knew nothing about fighting, so he would die... (The Beekeeper s Journey 8). In this Abbas (The main character of the story) is so committed to a sense of duty that he is willing to die for his community. There is the possibility that Timken can lose its BBB investment grade rating. This is due to Timken taking on the $800 million in debt it needs to purchase Torrington. The change in the company s debt composition will change ratios such as debt to capital which is used to determine the investment grade rating. Compared to other industrial firms, Timken shows relatively high sales numbers ($279.4 million) as well EBITDA figures ($275.7 million). According to table 3 (p. 4), only three ratios will change as taking on the $800 million in debt.
