Security Practices Of Electronic Commerce Companies Should...
It seems that companies too often lose credit card information, social security numbers, addresses, and
other personally identifiable information. In each case there are steps that can be taken to mitigate or
prevent such damage from occurring. This paper attempts to provide a basic overview of security
practices that electronic commerce companies should follow.
The first category is building a secure network. There are necessary steps in how a company should
approach access into their networks from the outside, from installation of a firewall system, to
configuration, and even access control within the enterprise.
The second category is data protection. Data must be kept secure not only when it is in transit, or in
use, but also when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Target, Neiman Marcus, and even eBay have been victims of breaches involving their customer s
sensitive information. Identity theft is becoming all too common as entire dossiers of individuals who
have done nothing more than purchase something online are shared, sometimes for as little as a dollar
( Follow the Data: Dissecting Data Breaches and Debunking the Myths, 2015). Incidents happen when
a company doesn t maintain physical security of a device, such as a laptop, or when unauthorized
individuals obtain access to databases.
Every company is responsible for securing the contents of their databases and protecting consumer
information. There are various methods to carry out these goals, but an all of the above method is
necessary to ensure consumer privacy and confidence.
There are six categories in which a company must be compliant in order to protect against loss of
information. Each category must be utilized, as a failure in one renders the others useless. In no
particular order, these categories are Securing the Network, Data Protection, Vulnerability
Management, Access Control, Regular Monitoring and Testing, and maintenance of an Info Sec
Policy. This paper

Cultural Differences Between Surena And Nortena
To any outsider, Surena and Nortena girls seem to be one and the same. Without an understanding of
the minute and significant differences between each distinct group of girls, it is easy to group them
together, for the sake of simplicity. Indeed, many polling organization underestimate the differences
between different sects of latina girls and often come up confused on why their predictions were
wrong. However, with differences come similarities. Each group of girls belong to the same ethnic
group, more or less. This means, that despite their territorial differences, similarities can be found.
Individually, all the girls are different in one way shape or form. Their various upbringings and home

T Rex, who is a very vocal advocate for the virtues of Nortena culture, did admitt that ...both groups
have the same idea and that they are all ...truly mexican till the day (we) die (Mendoza Denton, 111).
When Nortenas and Surenas are viewed through the lens of only mexican girls, the differences
between the two groups seem insurmountable. However, when Nortena and Surena girls are compared
with other ethnic groups, such as caucasian and asian girls, their differences seem smaller. This isn t to
undermine the differences of each group, rather the girls have no choice. The world that many
mexican girls live in is stacked against them. English as a Second Language classes do not count
towards college requirements, many girls have family members who are in the states undocumented,
and outside of their high school and immediate community, many latinxs face harsh racial stereotypes.
Nortena and Surena ideologies may attempt to overcome these barriers different, but as a whole each
group is working towards a better life. While Nortena girls would often call Surena girls wetbacks or
tell them to go back to Mexico, they didn t tolerate other non mexican doing the same. The obstacles
that Nortena and Surena girls faced created a sense of sameness, an understanding that both groups
faced the same discrimination, that helped maintain the overall California Mexican

The British Architects Of The 20th Century
INTRODUCTION
Born on September 8, 1914, Sir Denys Louis Lasdun is considered among the most distinguished
British architects of the 20th century. He is credited with having contributed to London s urban
landscape. Among the works for which he is best known are the Royal National Theatre at London s
South Banks of the Thames, the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, the Royal College of
Physicians in Regent s Park and the University of East Anglia. The others of Lasdun s buildings were
a building at 32 Newton Road, Paddington, Hallfield Primary School, Usk Street Housing, Keeling
House and the Sports Centre at the University of Liverpool. Considering how eminent these landmark
buildings are in London s landscape, it is apparent that Lasdun was a much sough architect, especially
by the British government as well as the local authorities. Lasdun s architecture falls under the
Brutalist architecture of the United Kingdom under which many prominent 20th century British and
European architects worked. Among the architects that worked under Brutalism and had great
influence on Lasdun s architecture were Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Nicholas
Hawksmoor. Lasdun s fame as a world class architect could be largely attributed to the fact that his
architecture spanned the whole era of modernism in British art.
It is often asserted that Lasdun s architecture was derived from and driven by his boredom with the
sameness or identicalness of English architecture and the

Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy
2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY
Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright William
Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked indebtedness to the tragic
writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic
intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced
by, Aristotelian theories of tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we
think about Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590 94),
Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello (1603 04), King Lear
(1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07), and Coriolanus (1608) derived from
Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens, and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First
Folio. Characteristics of a Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are
from real figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First Folio.
Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures: Julius Caesar, Antony and
Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

three tragedies because their protagonists attracted my attention the most. Is Macbeth tempted to sin

man responsible for his tragic fate? (Bevington, 1980) The psychological aspect in his tragedies is
impressive. I think the most impressive thing is that even after more than 400 years we can still study

Compare And Contrast Bradstreet And Taylor
Anne Bradstreet s In Memory of My Dear Grandchild Elizabeth Bradstreet, Who Deceased August,
1665, Being a Year and Half Old and Edward Taylor s Upon Wedlock and Death of Children are
elegies written in early colonial America. Bradstreet and Taylor were contemporaries of each other,
and while Bradstreet became well known for her poetry during her lifetime, Taylor was not discovered
until years after his death. The poetry that they wrote was controversial in Colonial America because it
was not written using plain style, a type of writing which avoided the use extra biblical references and
shifted attention from the writer. Both writers wrote their respective elegies to express the grief they
felt in the loss of their offspring. Although Anne Bradstreet s In Memory and Edward Taylor s Upon
Wedlock share similar subjects and content, the technical features distinguish the two author s styles.

uses pronouns such as thy (5, 6) and thou (7) to indicate that she is speaking directly to the child. In
lines eight through fourteen, she continues to talk to the child, although the reader could assume she is
speaking to them, since she does not directly address the child again. Upon Wedlock is written to the
reader, a third person observer. Taylor never once addresses his children or anyone else in his poem,

Abstract: A hybrid generation is a part of large power system in which number of sources usually
attached to a power electronic converter and loads are clustered can operate independent of the main
power system. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over current
protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation. This paper
adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal transmission line
protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection scheme is developed
with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all terminals are obtained by
analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother wavelet. This scheme is
tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and discrimination of fault with
various fault inception angle and fault impedance.

A Brief History of Playboy Enterprises
There are many different aspects of American Culture. One part of this culture is the idolization of
beautiful women. Playboy is one of many examples of how Americans idolize women. Playboy
Enterprises, recognized by their iconic Playboy Bunny symbol, started off as just a men s magazine
that includes journal articles, fiction, and of course, photographs of nude women. Playboy Magazine
was founded by Hugh Hefner in Chicago, Illinois in 1953. Hefner incorporated HMH Publishing Co.,
Inc. in Delaware on October 1, 1953. In December of 1953 Hefner released the first issue of the
magazine that would feature Marilyn Monroe on the cover. It would become very successful, selling
more than 50,000 copies of the first issue.

All of these shows were quite successful due to the fact that American culture idolizes beautiful
women.
Playboy was also quite successful with the creation of the Playboy Club. The Playboy Club was a
chain of nightclubs that would typically have a Living Room, a Playmate Bar, a Dining Room, and a
Club Room. The food and drinks were served to guests by Playboy Bunnies, some of which were
actually in the magazine. The Living Rooms would typically have local musicians and sometimes a
magician. The Club Rooms would be booked with big name entertainers and comedians.
The first clubs to open internationally were in Jamaica and London. In the early 1990s however, the
Playboy Club had become obsolete. There are still clubs that are operating in Macao and Cancun, and
one more will be opening in Los Angeles soon. These Clubs can also be spotted in some movies and
television shows, like in the 1971 James Bond Diamonds Are Forever movie, or in Season 4 Episode
10 of Mad Men ( Playboy Club ).
These are just some of the ways Playboy has idolized women, but that s not all that the company and
the magazine are about. In an article titled When Playboy ruled the world , written by Brett
Popplewell, he talks about some of the cultural impacts of Playboy. Popplewell talks in his article
about how Playboy is more than just a magazine that displays nude photos of women. It is a magazine
that also held many great articles, fiction pieces, poetry, and interviews

Romantic Era Research Paper
Mawuli Bossiade Research Paper Music Appreciation The Romantic era was an intellectual and
artistic movement that started in Europe just before the end of the 18th century. That era was at his
peak at 1800 to 1840. It was a reaction for the age of enlightenment, which was from England. The
romantic era had an impact on music, arts and literature (Boundless). Furthermore, it had a major
impact on history, education and politics. During the romantic era, a lot of great composers emerged
like the German composer Felix Mendelssohn. He was born on February 3,1809, in Hamburg,
Germany. He was born into a wealthy Jewish family. He was the son of Abraham Mendelssohn and
Lea Salomon. He was the grandson of Moses Mendelssohn, which was a Great German Jewish

External costs of intercity truck freight transportation

Abstract
From a societal perspective, it is desirable for all transportation users to pay their full social (private
and external) costs. We estimate four general types of external costs for intercity freight trucking and
compare them with the private costs incurred by carriers. Estimated external costs include: accidents
(fatalities, injuries, and property damage); emissions (air pollution and greenhouse gases); noise; and
unrecovered costs associated with the provision, operation, and maintenance ... Show more content on

Signi®cant external costs arise from transportation, although accurate estimates of their magnitudes
have been dicult to obtain. In this article we assemble best available estimates of external costs due
to freight truck operations between cities (i.e. in rural areas). To place these costs in a useful context,
we compare them with corresponding private costs, which are the market costs directly faced by
freight carriers.
This article does not address the issue of external bene®ts arising through the transportation of freight.
Most transportation economists doubt the existence of signi®cant external bene®ts from the provision
of transportation services (e.g. Rothengatter, 1994; Verhoef, 1994, p. 278). Markets exist for these
services, such that cost savings due to economies of scale or density may be retained by carriers,
passed on to shippers, or ultimately passed on to ®nal consumers of the goods that are shipped.
As Greene and Jones (1997, p. 9) observe, some economists believe that external bene®ts can arise
from improvements to transportation systems (see, for example, Willeke, 1994). An improvement may
reduce the costs of ®rms operations, thus contributing to increased competitiveness and more output.
If scale economies exist, the unit cost of production may drop.
Depending on the market structure, bene®ciaries of this cost reduction may be the producing ®rm or

Could this have been prevented? In examining the major downfalls of the park, it seems that Euro
Disney could have benefited from better research. Tokyo Disneyland found enormous success in
Japan. The park in Tokyo has very little differences from the American Magic Kingdoms. Tokyo s
success with like change from the American parks might have led Disney executives to the misguided
belief that cultural differences would not affect the success of Euro Disney. But Tokyo and Paris have
some pretty critical differences. Tokyo not only has a higher concentrated population surrounding the
park but the average income is higher.[11] Probably the biggest difference is that Japan, as a country,
tends to embrace American culture much more readily than the French. The cold winters on Paris were
identified as a potential problem but when asked in a meeting if Europeans would be willing to stand
in the cold a Disney executive simply stated, The Japanese do. [12] Japanese and Paris winters vary
greatly. Paris has 3 times as many rainy days. And the average highs during winter are 5 degrees
warmer in Tokyo than in Paris.[13] When opening a vacation destination it seems obvious to
understand the vacation habits of the target audience. This is by far the biggest oversight of Euro
Disney. A simple survey could have clued Disney executives in and possibly have changed their minds
about ever entering Europe.

Savagery In Macbeth And Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding
Humans are still animals and we still have animal instincts. The underlying connection I found
between the four texts I read was the theme we all have savagery in us and when the rules are
removed it takes over . I believe everyone has savagery deep within and that when put in tough or
uncivilized situations it can come out. We almost turn into animals and often resort to our fight or
flight instinct, just like in the texts. I found this connection between these 4 texts: the play Macbeth by
William Shakespeare, the short story The Wasteland by Alan Paton, Gone written by Michael Grant
and Lord of the Flies by William Golding. We can see the symbolism for inner savagery through the
creatures The Darkness and The beastie in the books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The short story The Wasteland by Alan Paton show the theme of we all have savagery in us but when
the rules are removed it takes over because when he becomes surrounded he resorts to his animal
instinct. The short story is about a man who has just left what I perceive to be a civilized city and has
gone through big metal gates into the wasteland. We can see aspects of the theme in the quote So
trapped was he that he was filled suddenly with strength and anger. The quote is an example of him
acting on his animal instincts. We can see a connection between this and The lord of the flies because
in The Lord of the Flies when Simon gives the boys a fright they lash out and go into attack mode
because they feel threatened. Both these example link back to the theme as they both are showing
people inner savagery and animalistic instincts taking over during a time where there are no rules. We
can also see that in The Wasteland they use his stick as a metaphor for the savagery that lurks within
him and is always with him but only when the bus which symbolising the rules leaves he starts to see
it as a option. The quote Something caught him by the leg, and he brought his stick crashing down on
it shows that he finally unleashes all his anger and heartless inhumanity. This is a lot like The Lord of
the Flies in that Jack always has a knife with him and he becomes that

Literary Terms For The End
Literary Terms for In the End Linkin Park s In the End is a song that many people can relate to
because it is about a situation that everyone has encountered. The approach Chester uses to describe a
hard situation by using the structure, symbolism and prosody he specifically picks out makes the song
catchy and relatable. The way he forms the song and the words he picked out allows a depressing
moment to become an inspiration for anyone going through hard times. The most important literary
term is structure, this is the beginning layout of the poem, story or song. This is how the poem is
organized it is where the author decides how the story is to begin, the details that are going to keep the
reader intrigued, the crisis and the climax and the way the poem is to end, the resolution. Even in the
song In the End there is an outline of how it begins and ends. Right away the author shows that there
is a major complication, he has worked hard at reaching a goal or helping a person and has failed.
Then further down in the lyrics he shows the crisis, where all of the reasons are starting to build up as
to why he has decided not to stay with the other character in the song, he sings reasons like when you
were mocking me, acting like I was your property and fighting all the time. He even sings about
everything has changed and there is no way to bring it back. He then lines it up with when the chorus
hits; we see the resolution of the song. This part shows the realization that

The Consequences Of Grade Inflation
The Consequences of Grade Inflation We ve all been pleasantly surprised by receiving a higher grade
than expected on a school assignment or exam. Unfortunately, the average grade being given to today
s college student does not reflect the quality of the work submitted, and it is having a negative effect
on students. Students end up using valuable grant and loan money taking developmental classes,
because they received passing grades in core subjects when they should have failed. Teachers have
adapted their grading system to reflect the under developed skills of the students. This practice
handicaps students during their academic years, as well as their post graduation and entry into the
workforce. Through a more rigid grading system, today s students would improve their work ethic and
become more prepared to face post graduation challenges. The problem we are discussing is called
grade inflation , and it has become widespread on campuses across America. In the 1950 s, the
average GPA for college students was 2.52; by 2006, that figure had risen to 3.11 (Newlon).
According to former Duke University professor Stuart Rojstaczer, At some colleges, over 50% of the
grades given are A s. Rojstaczer s school of thought is that this trend began during the Vietnam War
era, as a result of professors helping students to stay in school in order to avoid the draft (Newlon).
Long after the end of the Vietnam War and student deferments, this trend continues. This trend does

Into The Revolutionary War Analysis
This week s readings begin to stray away from the Seven Years War and into the Revolutionary War.
The Revolutionary War occurred because the Americans colonist wanted to be free from Great Britain
s control. King George III would go above the legislative of the colonies and force orders without
consent. So many felt that the only way to obtain freedom from Great Britain and control their own
government is they must fight for it. Patrick Henry states, The war is inevitable and let it come! I
repeat it, sir, let it come (Henry 44). There was no way to avoid going to war, rather it was the only
solution that would lead to the colonies freedom. In this war between the British and Americans,
Native Americans were involved and were heavily

Legends Of Tomorrow Research Papers
If you haven t tuned in to DC s Legends of Tomorrow just yet, you ll be in for a surprise: Firestorm is
back in the form of Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jax Jackson, who is played by Attack the Block
star Franz Drameh. The British actor is officially taking over half of Firestorm after the death of
Ronnie Raymond (Rob Amell), and he has just admitted that he initially geeked out when he found out
which character he was auditioning for! Drameh recently spoke to Comic Book Resources about
Legends of Tomorrow, where he admitted his love for comic books and the secret name for the
character he was reading for. I ve been a comic book fan my whole life, so when I was auditioning, the
character breakdown they gave me was Mystery Hero Michael. So I was like, okay, Drameh shared,
adding that the truth about the character dawned upon him while reading the lines. So I had a bit of a
read of it, and I was like: Stein this is Firestorm! But there s already a Firestorm! How is this going to

Summary Of Alan Turing The Enigma
Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges London: Burnett Books Ltd, 2000 Andrew Hodges
brings Alan Turing to life in the namesake title, Alan Turing: The Enigma. Alan Turing, a war hero in
his own right, worked during World War II at Bletchley Park in England which was the site housing
British codebreakers for the Government Code and Cypher School (GC CS). One of his main
objectives was to crack the German Enigma machine s code. Turing s work was crucial to the war, and
beyond that, he is known as the father of computer science and a brilliant mathematician. Turing
became alarmed about the war with Germany in the fall of 1937. At the time, Turing spent his time
studying and working on a thesis based on the theory of computation and on the hypothetical devices
later known as Turing machines. A Turing machine in today s sense would be a model for a modern
computer. Besides the important work with his research, he found time to enjoyably take up the
subject of cryptanalysis assuming words would be replaced by numbers eventually to be transmitted
on a binary scale: in zeros and ones, on and off, true and false. Turing himself even spent the time
building hardware to produce ciphering machines as a hobby while at Princeton. These precursors
were a perfect setup for the work he would pursue with the GC CS and Turing a natural recruit.
During the First World War and up to this time in 1938, the GC CS grew from a small operation of
around 25 officers with a small clerical staff

Ever Heard The Saying, “Learn From Your Mistakes,” Or A
Ever heard the saying, Learn from your mistakes, or a different variation, such as when a parent or
guardian tells a child, I am trying to save you from repeating the mistakes I made, ? The root of this
timeless phrase lies in the ability of humans to make the same choices over and over across
generations. Through the analysis of historic events and ideals that are still causing a stir to this day,
such as Thomas Jefferson s deism, the Emoluments Clause in the United States Constitution, and The
Great Wave print, one can learn a great deal about the world in which he or she lives. The author of
the Declaration of Independence was Thomas Jefferson, who was a deist. Deism refers to the belief in

However, people continue to spread hateful messages against each other, certain that their side is

Another document from the origins of the United States that is coming to the political forefront since
the recent presidential election is the United States Constitution, specifically the Emoluments Clause.
The clause reads, No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding
any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any
present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State,
(Article I, Section 9, Clause 8). Emoluments, according to Merriam Webster, are, the returns arising
from office or employment usually in the form of compensation or perquisites, (Emolument). The
founding fathers put this clause into the Constitution very purposefully, because they wanted to protect
the integrity of the American political system. They had seen the way corruption could spread if the
leader of a country started working for a different nation s interests, and they did not want that to
happen in America.
Today, the debate is on for whether the founding fathers provision is being stretched to the breaking
point with current president, Donald Trump. The president is under

These free water molecules enhance solubility making the protein soluble in water. This leads to
improvement in its performance in hydrogels
The protein stability is also influenced because of the presence of unbound water.

It Doesn t Matter Where You Came From, But It Matters Where You re Going. Unknown. This quote
stuck out like a sore thumb because of how it reminded me of myself, But also this essay. I interpreted
this quote as, your culture doesn t have to form the way you re gonna be in life. Culture is something
that defines who we are, and what we ve came from. But does culture always have a say in what you
do in your life? I believe that culture sometimes influences someone views on others and the world. In
Pico Iyer s travel essay Where worlds Collide immigrants view their experiences as positive because

Scorecard System Essay
When an organization implements any management control tool, the cost/benefit balance is vital. The
decision to deploy a scorecard system requires the same analysis. The costs of implementing a new
tool are relatively easy to appraise, but often, there s a lack of reliable information about the benefits.
This article explores the extent to which organizations have realized significant benefits from using a
scorecard system. (We use the term quot;scorecard system quot; to include both the scorecard as a
control tool and the process, or technique, of integrating the scorecard system into the overall
performance achievement cycle of the firm.)

A related observation is that employees in the SBG both accepted the scorecard system and used it as
an effective management control tool, whereas there was only minimal acceptance and use in the
NSBG. Often, the benefits of a scorecard system are soft ones, but organizations in our survey also
reported documented benefits such as a reduction in overheads of 25% in three years and
quot;significant improvement in employee satisfaction and the highest sales and profit ever. quot; This
result isn t unexpected: if communicating strategy and aligning employee behaviour with strategy aren
t top priorities of a scorecard system, employees won t see value in using the system.
Compensation links
Employees value what s measured but too often what s measured isn t of value to the organization.
The study reveals a much stronger link between measures appearing on the scorecards and the
compensation and reward system for the SBG than for the NSBG. As one company noted,
quot;Employees throughout the organization have become more aware of business plan goals and
objectives and strive for higher performance quot; due to scorecard implementation. Another company
noted that the system resulted in a significant improvement in employee satisfaction. As almost all
agree, measures motivate one way or another.
While we recommend that you link scorecard measures to compensation and rewards, you should also
exercise care in doing so. Taking a year or

Perspectives On Wellbeing And Genuine Progress Indicator...
Rethinking What Counts. Perspectives on Wellbeing and Genuine Progress Indicator Metrics from a
Canadian Viewpoint Wilson Tyedmers (2013) discuss how recently the economic growth model has
been criticized, which has lead to rethinking how economic success and social wellbeing are
measured. Improved metrics have aimed to integrate social, environmental, and human welfare in
order to properly account for potential costs of economic growth (Wilson Tyedmers, 2013). Wilson

Making adjustments to these methods and communicating their importance in an efficient way are
going to be important in the future to get more individuals behind the idea. I do question alternatives
to GDP because not everyone weighs things the same when it comes to wellbeing therefore the use of
these methods nationally or even locally might be unjustifiable. A theoretical foundation to support the
Index of Sustainable Economic Welfare (ISEW), Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), and other related
indexes Lawn (2003) describes that ecological economists have developed alternative indexes due to
the inadequacy of GDP as a measure of human progress, which can be use to measure and compare
the benefits and costs of growth. These alternatives to GDP such as the Index of Sustainable Economic
Welfare (ISEW) and Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI) support the threshold hypothesis but they have
faced criticism based on lack of theoretical foundation (Lawn, 2003). Lawn (2003) compares GDP, the
Sustainable Net Benefit Index (SNBI), and ISEW/GPI to the concept of income and capital as outlined
by Fisher (1906) to argue that macroeconomic alternative indexes are theoretically sound. The
Fisherian view believes economic welfare depends on psychic enjoyment of life and not on production
or consumption rate (Lawn,

How Does Henry Fleming Use Fear In The Red Badge Of Courage
Imagination is a wonderful way to explore the unknown situations a person has not experienced yet.
Henry Fleming imagined a lot in The Red Badge of Courage giving him an abundance of different
feelings and consequences. The decisions made due to stress, exhilaration, curiosity, and fear changed
the youth in many ways. In the following paragraphs, Henry s actions and thoughts will be discussed

Henry Fleming is portrayed as a thrill seeker who wanted to experience the civil war first hand. Henry
chased the action of a solider and the thrill of a battle without knowing truly what was expected from
him, or what would happen to him mentally. During the at the battle field, Henry exclaimed his desire

Canadian dream is combined with individual success, care for others, concern for the country; it is
also to respect others, their background, and their religions. The reason behind my parent s motivation
which lead them to come to Canada was because they wanted to have a good life and so they could
practice their religion freely. In Pakistan, there were too many life threats which is why they wanted to

Effective Malaria Treatment Is Fraught With Challenges
Effective malaria treatment is fraught with challenges. Resistance is seemingly around the corner for
every previously superlative drug, while being deeply entrenched among those medications that a few
decades ago were vital to chemotherapy. For artemisinin, the first signs of resistance were observed in
a 2008 study of parasite clearance times following monotherapy with artesunate. Clearance was
slower among patients from the Eastern Thai Cambodian border than that of patients from the Thai
Myanmar border to the West (Dondorp et al., 2009). Though an alarming fact on its own, when
coupled with the proportional increase of such slow clearing infections from 0.6% in 2001 to 20% in
2010 with rates approaching 42% in Cambodia one must conclude that there is cause for alarm
(Flannery et al., 2013). Resistance is not only emerging but also spreading. Now more than ever we
have need of new medicines as well as new approaches for producing those medicines. The link to
plant physiology among Plasmodium spp. is basically irrefutable and imperatively needs further
investigating. By elucidating essential biosynthetic pathways behind such compounds like abscisic
acid, we can find hitherto unknown targets as well as broaden our knowledge of the evasion
mechanisms that are at the disposal of our protozoan foes. Evasion is the primary response of malaria
in response to the immune system s efforts and this tactic appears to have been extended to one of the
most powerful drugs we have.

Regulation of Banking and Financial Services
The Failure Process Imposed Upon Financial Institutions
The concept of systemic risk sprung to the foreground of the public s consciousness during the
financial crisis of 2007 8 as the Too Big To Fail (TBTF) banks were bailed out by the various US
Federal Government agencies e.g., US Treasury via the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and
the US Federal Reserve via Quantitative Easing (QE). However, as it turns out, the concept of
systemic risk is not so easy to define in legal terms as illustrated by the difficulty in nailing down the
definition by US Congress via the Dodd Frank legislation or by the US Treasury and the Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) via regulation (Horton, ... Show more content on

With a deposit payoff, the bank s depositors are paid by the FDIC up to the $250,000 FDIC insurance
limit with any deposit balance above this limit repaid based on the residual value of the bank s assets;
with a purchase and assumption, a healthy bank purchases some or all of the failed bank s assets and
deposits (Rose Hudgins, 2013). The goal of the FDIC in resolving the failure of a bank or systemically
important non bank financial institution is to maximize the value of the failed institution s assets while
minimizing the damage to the broader financial system (Guynn, 2012).
In conclusion, because of the 2007 8 financial crisis and the resulting Dodd Frank legislation the era
of the TBTF bank and non bank financial institution is over. The FDIC now has the regulatory
authority to liquidate these [formerly] TBTF bank and non bank financial institutions in an orderly

As previously stated, Sarcoidosis is a disease of unknown cause, and scientists are continuously
researching its exact origins. Scientists know that immune cells emit chemicals that signal other cells
to come protect an organ from a toxic substance. Subsequently, this causes inflammation in one s
body. In Sarcoidosis patients, this swelling does not recede but forms granulomas of immune cells on
an organ. Some scientists theorize that an external trigger such as bacteria or dust may lead to the
onset of symptoms. Also, research strongly supports that Sarcoidosis occurs from the genetic

National Trust For Historic Preservation
Heritage tourism is a growing niche in the tourism industry and it is something that most tourists will
engage at. By breaking the term is separated into heritage and tourism, the term heritage is mainly
associated with the meaning of the inheritance of something that is passed on throughout the ages
(Nuryanti, 1996). Tourism can be interpreted as the movement to somewhere to experience a contrast
to the current way of living (Miller, 2015). The definition that the National Trust for Historic
Preservation provides, traveling to experience the places, artifacts and activities that authentically
represent the stories and people of the past and present explains heritage tourism very well (Hargrove,
2002). A more cynical definition explains heritage tourism as a contemporary commodity purposefully

Women of the 1800 s where very limited to what they could do in life; especially the women of the
upper and middle class. They where expected to do nothing more than marry and to marry well. If
they could not do this the life that they faced was very grim. It would be a life of spinsterhood and
being care for by other family members or working as a governess for some upper class family.
Jane Austen in her book Pride and Prejudice shows the reader the important of marrying and hopefully
marrying well but also how important it is marry for love. Jane Austen was born in1775 and the world
that she grows up in was one that was very limited for women. Jane was very lucky in the fact that her
parents knew how important an education was for all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

protect both of the girls, as seen when Jane s heart is broken by Bingley when he suddenly leaving
Netherfield, the Gardiner s take Jane to London so she can get away from home and the sights and

not let your fancy run away with you, you have sense and we all expect you to use it. (101) But most
of all, it would be when Mr. Gardiner steps in to go and find Lydia after she runs away with Wickham.
Mr. Gardiner is not only trying to save the hole family from the embarrassment and shame , but also
how it will affect the life of Jane and Elizabeth and their chance of ever getting married.
In Charlotte Lucas we see a very sensible, polite young woman, with a good education but of little
fortune and considered by some as not handsome. Charlotte does not think very highly of men or
marriage and views it as a way getting financial security in life. I am not a romantic , she tells
Elizabeth. I ask only a comfortable home ... (125) and that it is better to know as little as possible of
the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life with . (14) She also thinks that happiness
in marriage is just by chance. Even

The said product is biodegradable, organic and it doesn t harm the environment even if it is burnt or
disposed. It contains almost no amount of harmful chemical substances that can disrupt the ecological
balance or worsen the condition of the global warming.
Researchers in the near future may use the study in emphasizing the use of the pineapple or dusol
extract as a main ingredient in the manufacture of soap or other products in relation to the study.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study is limited to the production of the experimental pineapple/dusol soap and the
experimentation processes that followed. The experimentation was conducted from June to August

Surveys and Experiments
Introduction Surveys and experiments can prove to be an extremely valuable tool that organizations
can use to gain pertinent information. In order to effectively utilize these tools firms must pay careful
attention to the design, methodology, and ethical issues of the experiment chosen. Among these issues
are variables in conducting experiments with human subjects, design elements affecting the accuracy
of the experiment, and questions of methodology. The information below addresses each of these
concerns and describes how experiments can become a valuable tool for organizations to plan for the
future. Question 9.4 Ethical Problems in Conducting Experiments with Human Subjects After

Additionally, it would be important to ensure that one person can take the survey once. If the website
saw that the same IP address re entered the site, the survey would not be presented. A random
assignment of participants to take the survey would also reduce the amount of repeat surveys. The
researcher should determine beforehand how many positive responses from the survey would indicate
an effective advertisement. Now that the experiment has a design established, it needs participants and
a reporting structure (Cooper Schindler, 2014). In order to not affect the entire population entering the
site, the experiment could use a random assignment of participants for each survey Question 10.5
Choosing a Survey Method Choosing a survey method requires comparing data needs against the
advantages and disadvantages of the methods available in each situation (Cooper Schindler, 2014).
Personal interviews, telephone surveys, and self administered questionnaires all have positives and
negatives in the amount, style, and timeliness of information provided. Therefore, in order to obtain
the needed data, the advantages and disadvantages of each method should be considered, such as in
the examples to follow. Residents Views on Living in a New Subdivision A telephone survey would be

Byzantium And Atonement
In each writer s work, the atonement with the father occurs through the hero or heroine meeting the
power that controls them, the power that motivates them to complete their journey. The hero or
heroine must confront and defeat the power that controls him or her in order to procure wisdom that
allows them to complete their journey. In William Butler Yeats Sailing to Byzantium, the atonement
with the father occurs when the aging man finally talks to the sages on the mosaic wall, confronting
the ultimate power that controls the aging man s life. Yeats illustrates, O sages standing in God s holy
fire/ As in the gold mosaic of a wall/ Come from the holy fire, perne in a gyre, / And be the singing
masters of my soul/ (17 20), which depicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sages represent the father like figure that hold to power to life, which the aging man requests from
sages. As Simon O. Lesser, author of Sailing to Byzantium Another Voyage, Another Reading, states,
In this poem, it appears to be widely believed, Yeats triumphantly confronts and liquidates his fears of
aging and death.... [H]e discovers that engrossment in poetry is the only, but a sufficient, recompense
for the privatizations of old age (291), which Yeats reasoning for writing this poem: to spread the
message that anyone can live forever through their art. While the narrator in the poem never officially
possess a proper name, the poet Yeats writes this poem to express his lack of fear for death after
discovering that his memory continues to live through all his poems. William Butler Yeats knows that
he lives forever through all those who continue to read and understand his poems, because his works
lives on in others. While Yeats never explicitly states this, the idea that poems keep the poet alive
forever derives from philosophical thought and reasoning, similar to the aging man that visits the
mosaic painting. Similar to the aging man in the poem, Yeats searches for the sage like figures that
provide the answer to death that

Some Facts and My Opinion of High Fructose Corn Syrup
I hope all is well with you. Thank you for asking my opinion about high fructose corn syrup. Rest
assure I do not want you to be concerned, I will try to explain it as much as I can. Let me start by
explaining to you what high fructose syrup means in comparison to regular sugar. HFCS is composed
of a mix of glucose and fructose (Beil). This same chemical components are also found in regular
table sugar. Table sugar also has another name called sucrose. It has a linear ring structure with three
to seven carbon atoms (Phelan 854). To make it easier on you to understand, we eat sugar it breaks
down in our stomach as glucose and fructose (Busken 112 113). If the breakdown of HFCS and sugar
is compared you will find that HFCS gives the better opportunity of using in food (Busken 112 113).
The digestion of sugar is 50/50, while the breakdown of HFCS is 42% fructose and 55% glucose
(Busken 112 113). The remaining 3% are chains of saccharides (Busken 112 113). Now looking into
the graph that you sent me I do not think that high fructose corn syrup is the main cause of obesity.
Through my understanding of the readings I have read that interacting with a substance does not
necessarily mean that it is the cause of it. Throughout the years Americans have developed a bigger
appetite and specifically a sweet tooth (Beil). The graph demonstrates that between 1975 2000 the
high fructose corn syrup intake rose frequently. In between the same years, obesity has rise and fallen

  • 2. Security Practices Of Electronic Commerce Companies Should... It seems that companies too often lose credit card information, social security numbers, addresses, and other personally identifiable information. In each case there are steps that can be taken to mitigate or prevent such damage from occurring. This paper attempts to provide a basic overview of security practices that electronic commerce companies should follow. The first category is building a secure network. There are necessary steps in how a company should approach access into their networks from the outside, from installation of a firewall system, to configuration, and even access control within the enterprise. The second category is data protection. Data must be kept secure not only when it is in transit, or in use, but also when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Incidents happen when a company doesn t maintain physical security of a device, such as a laptop, or when unauthorized individuals obtain access to databases. Every company is responsible for securing the contents of their databases and protecting consumer information. There are various methods to carry out these goals, but an all of the above method is necessary to ensure consumer privacy and confidence. There are six categories in which a company must be compliant in order to protect against loss of information. Each category must be utilized, as a failure in one renders the others useless. In no particular order, these categories are Securing the Network, Data Protection, Vulnerability Management, Access Control, Regular Monitoring and Testing, and maintenance of an Info Sec Policy. Without an understanding of the minute and significant differences between each distinct group of girls, it is easy to group them together, for the sake of simplicity. Indeed, many polling organization underestimate the differences between different sects of latina girls and often come up confused on why their predictions were wrong. However, with differences come similarities. Each group of girls belong to the same ethnic group, more or less. This means, that despite their territorial differences, similarities can be found. • 4. The British Architects Of The 20th Century INTRODUCTION Born on September 8, 1914, Sir Denys Louis Lasdun is considered among the most distinguished British architects of the 20th century. He is credited with having contributed to London s urban landscape. Among the works for which he is best known are the Royal National Theatre at London s South Banks of the Thames, the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, the Royal College of Physicians in Regent s Park and the University of East Anglia. The others of Lasdun s buildings were a building at 32 Newton Road, Paddington, Hallfield Primary School, Usk Street Housing, Keeling House and the Sports Centre at the University of Liverpool. Considering how eminent these landmark buildings are in London s landscape, it is apparent that Lasdun was a much sough architect, especially by the British government as well as the local authorities. Lasdun s architecture falls under the Brutalist architecture of the United Kingdom under which many prominent 20th century British and European architects worked. Among the architects that worked under Brutalism and had great influence on Lasdun s architecture were Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Nicholas Hawksmoor. Lasdun s fame as a world class architect could be largely attributed to the fact that his architecture spanned the whole era of modernism in British art. It is often asserted that Lasdun s architecture was derived from and driven by his boredom with the sameness or identicalness of English architecture and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy 2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright William Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked indebtedness to the tragic writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced by, Aristotelian theories of tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we think about Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590 94), Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello (1603 04), King Lear (1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07), and Coriolanus (1608) derived from Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens, and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First Folio. Characteristics of a Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are from real figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First Folio. Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures: Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bradstreet and Taylor were contemporaries of each other, and while Bradstreet became well known for her poetry during her lifetime, Taylor was not discovered until years after his death. The poetry that they wrote was controversial in Colonial America because it was not written using plain style, a type of writing which avoided the use extra biblical references and shifted attention from the writer. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over current protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation. This paper adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal transmission line protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection scheme is developed with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all terminals are obtained by analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother wavelet. This scheme is tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and discrimination of fault with various fault inception angle and fault impedance. We estimate four general types of external costs for intercity freight trucking and compare them with the private costs incurred by carriers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Signi®cant external costs arise from transportation, although accurate estimates of their magnitudes have been dicult to obtain. In this article we assemble best available estimates of external costs due to freight truck operations between cities (i.e. in rural areas). To place these costs in a useful context, we compare them with corresponding private costs, which are the market costs directly faced by freight carriers. This article does not address the issue of external bene®ts arising through the transportation of freight. Most transportation economists doubt the existence of signi®cant external bene®ts from the provision of transportation services (e.g. Rothengatter, 1994; Verhoef, 1994, p. 278). Markets exist for these services, such that cost savings due to economies of scale or density may be retained by carriers, passed on to shippers, or ultimately passed on to ®nal consumers of the goods that are shipped. As Greene and Jones (1997, p. 9) observe, some economists believe that external bene®ts can arise from improvements to transportation systems (see, for example, Willeke, 1994). In examining the major downfalls of the park, it seems that Euro Disney could have benefited from better research. Tokyo Disneyland found enormous success in Japan. The park in Tokyo has very little differences from the American Magic Kingdoms. Tokyo s success with like change from the American parks might have led Disney executives to the misguided belief that cultural differences would not affect the success of Euro Disney. But Tokyo and Paris have some pretty critical differences. Tokyo not only has a higher concentrated population surrounding the park but the average income is higher.[11] Probably the biggest difference is that Japan, as a country, tends to embrace American culture much more readily than the French. The cold winters on Paris were identified as a potential problem but when asked in a meeting if Europeans would be willing to stand in the cold a Disney executive simply stated, The Japanese do. [12] Japanese and Paris winters vary greatly. Paris has 3 times as many rainy days. And the average highs during winter are 5 degrees warmer in Tokyo than in Paris.[13] When opening a vacation destination it seems obvious to understand the vacation habits of the target audience. This is by far the biggest oversight of Euro Disney. A simple survey could have clued Disney executives in and possibly have changed their minds about ever entering Europe. ... I believe everyone has savagery deep within and that when put in tough or uncivilized situations it can come out. We can see aspects of the theme in the quote So trapped was he that he was filled suddenly with strength and anger. The quote is an example of him acting on his animal instincts. We can see a connection between this and The lord of the flies because in The Lord of the Flies when Simon gives the boys a fright they lash out and go into attack mode because they feel threatened. Both these example link back to the theme as they both are showing people inner savagery and animalistic instincts taking over during a time where there are no rules. We can also see that in The Wasteland they use his stick as a metaphor for the savagery that lurks within him and is always with him but only when the bus which symbolising the rules leaves he starts to see it as a option. The approach Chester uses to describe a hard situation by using the structure, symbolism and prosody he specifically picks out makes the song catchy and relatable. The way he forms the song and the words he picked out allows a depressing moment to become an inspiration for anyone going through hard times. The most important literary term is structure, this is the beginning layout of the poem, story or song. This is how the poem is organized it is where the author decides how the story is to begin, the details that are going to keep the reader intrigued, the crisis and the climax and the way the poem is to end, the resolution. Even in the song In the End there is an outline of how it begins and ends. Right away the author shows that there is a major complication, he has worked hard at reaching a goal or helping a person and has failed. Then further down in the lyrics he shows the crisis, where all of the reasons are starting to build up as to why he has decided not to stay with the other character in the song, he sings reasons like when you were mocking me, acting like I was your property and fighting all the time. He even sings about everything has changed and there is no way to bring it back. He then lines it up with when the chorus hits; we see the resolution of the song. The expected outcome of this lab is that 3Mg + N2=Mg3N2. Oxygen in the air is reacted with magnesium in the crucible. The masses before and after the oxidation are measured. The calculated masses are then used to find out the experimental empirical formula of magnesium oxide. A Bunsen burner will be used to heat magnesium metal. The experiment relates because we are determine the formula for magnesium oxide. Cults are often seen as small, close knit groups of mentally weak, crazy people, led by a power hungry source of insanity. While most of this may be true, the idea that only the weak enter into cults is a fabrication to make people feel good about themselves, seeing themselves as above the absurd ravings of a madman. • 20. The Consequences Of Grade Inflation The Consequences of Grade Inflation We ve all been pleasantly surprised by receiving a higher grade than expected on a school assignment or exam. Unfortunately, the average grade being given to today s college student does not reflect the quality of the work submitted, and it is having a negative effect on students. Students end up using valuable grant and loan money taking developmental classes, because they received passing grades in core subjects when they should have failed. Teachers have adapted their grading system to reflect the under developed skills of the students. This practice handicaps students during their academic years, as well as their post graduation and entry into the workforce. Through a more rigid grading system, today s students would improve their work ethic and become more prepared to face post graduation challenges. The problem we are discussing is called grade inflation , and it has become widespread on campuses across America. In the 1950 s, the average GPA for college students was 2.52; by 2006, that figure had risen to 3.11 (Newlon). According to former Duke University professor Stuart Rojstaczer, At some colleges, over 50% of the grades given are A s. Rojstaczer s school of thought is that this trend began during the Vietnam War era, as a result of professors helping students to stay in school in order to avoid the draft (Newlon). The Revolutionary War occurred because the Americans colonist wanted to be free from Great Britain s control. So many felt that the only way to obtain freedom from Great Britain and control their own government is they must fight for it. Patrick Henry states, The war is inevitable and let it come! • 23. Summary Of Alan Turing The Enigma Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges London: Burnett Books Ltd, 2000 Andrew Hodges brings Alan Turing to life in the namesake title, Alan Turing: The Enigma. Alan Turing, a war hero in his own right, worked during World War II at Bletchley Park in England which was the site housing British codebreakers for the Government Code and Cypher School (GC CS). One of his main objectives was to crack the German Enigma machine s code. Turing s work was crucial to the war, and beyond that, he is known as the father of computer science and a brilliant mathematician. Turing became alarmed about the war with Germany in the fall of 1937. At the time, Turing spent his time studying and working on a thesis based on the theory of computation and on the hypothetical devices later known as Turing machines. A Turing machine in today s sense would be a model for a modern computer. Besides the important work with his research, he found time to enjoyably take up the subject of cryptanalysis assuming words would be replaced by numbers eventually to be transmitted on a binary scale: in zeros and ones, on and off, true and false. Turing himself even spent the time building hardware to produce ciphering machines as a hobby while at Princeton. These precursors were a perfect setup for the work he would pursue with the GC CS and Turing a natural recruit. During the First World War and up to this time in 1938, the GC CS grew from a small operation of around 25 officers with a small clerical staff ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Resistance is seemingly around the corner for every previously superlative drug, while being deeply entrenched among those medications that a few decades ago were vital to chemotherapy. For artemisinin, the first signs of resistance were observed in a 2008 study of parasite clearance times following monotherapy with artesunate. Clearance was slower among patients from the Eastern Thai Cambodian border than that of patients from the Thai Myanmar border to the West (Dondorp et al., 2009). Though an alarming fact on its own, when coupled with the proportional increase of such slow clearing infections from 0.6% in 2001 to 20% in 2010 with rates approaching 42% in Cambodia one must conclude that there is cause for alarm (Flannery et al., 2013). Resistance is not only emerging but also spreading. Now more than ever we have need of new medicines as well as new approaches for producing those medicines. The link to plant physiology among Plasmodium spp. is basically irrefutable and imperatively needs further investigating. Tourism can be interpreted as the movement to somewhere to experience a contrast to the current way of living (Miller, 2015). The definition that the National Trust for Historic Preservation provides, traveling to experience the places, artifacts and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the past and present explains heritage tourism very well (Hargrove, 2002). • 50. Some Facts and My Opinion of High Fructose Corn Syrup I hope all is well with you. Thank you for asking my opinion about high fructose corn syrup. Rest assure I do not want you to be concerned, I will try to explain it as much as I can. Let me start by explaining to you what high fructose syrup means in comparison to regular sugar. HFCS is composed of a mix of glucose and fructose (Beil). This same chemical components are also found in regular table sugar. Table sugar also has another name called sucrose. It has a linear ring structure with three to seven carbon atoms (Phelan 854). To make it easier on you to understand, we eat sugar it breaks down in our stomach as glucose and fructose (Busken 112 113). If the breakdown of HFCS and sugar is compared you will find that HFCS gives the better opportunity of using in food (Busken 112 113). The digestion of sugar is 50/50, while the breakdown of HFCS is 42% fructose and 55% glucose (Busken 112 113). The remaining 3% are chains of saccharides (Busken 112 113). Now looking into the graph that you sent me I do not think that high fructose corn syrup is the main cause of obesity. Through my understanding of the readings I have read that interacting with a substance does not necessarily mean that it is the cause of it. Throughout the years Americans have developed a bigger appetite and specifically a sweet tooth (Beil). The graph demonstrates that between 1975 2000 the high fructose corn syrup intake rose frequently. In between the same years, obesity has rise and fallen multiple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
