The Aort Obstacles Of The Human Body
The heart is divided in to four different chambers, the Atria is the upper chambers of the heart, which
receive blood returning to your heart either from the body or the lungs. The right atrium receives de
oxygenated blood from the superior and inferior vena cava. The two atria are separated by a septum
into the left atrium and the right. The left of which receives oxygenated blood from the left and right
pulmonary veins.
The heart is divided into four chambers that are connected together by the valves of the heart, the
lower two chambers in the heart are called ventricles and are separated by a septum into the left and
the right ventricle. The right ventricle is the ventricle that receives blood from the right atrium and
pumps it to the main artery. Any oxygen poor blood picks up oxygen and it is then returned to the
heart by the pulmonary veins. The left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

deoxygenated blood from the upper part of the body and then is transported back to the heart. The

Mr Du Sautoy The Code
This episode of The Code began with Mr. Du Sautoy giving another example of mathematical
principles in the real world. This example happens in northern Ireland where a small short line of
rocks is arranged into odd hexagonal shapes. To highlight this principle further, Mr. Du Sautoy moved
onto another example in nature which should be very close to home and that is bees. Bees make their
hives out of a precious substance to them known as wax. Was, being very hard for them to produce, is
put into the most efficient and space saving form as possible. This shape is again, the hexagon. When
anything comes into the universe it tries to become the most efficient shape it can possibly be. An
example that Mr. Du Sautoy gives is bubbles. Bubbles are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when multiple spheres are put together they share common walls. These common walls can
be perfectly straight and then become the next most efficient shape. So, when putting the most
efficient singular shape together many times, it will eventually create a lot of hexagons. This is the
reason for the exquisite looking beach and why bees chose to make their hives in the shape of
hexagons. It is the most efficient shape that can be mass reproduced. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto
the study of measuring the Earth and shapes, in other words geometry. The example Mr. Du Sautoy
uses is that of mines. Deep into the Earth in Germany there are perfectly cubic shaped salt crystals.
These crystals are created so perfectly because the atoms of sodium and chlorine are perfectly cubic.
This translates into the larger crystals being perfectly cubic. Mr. Du Sautoy expresses how the Greeks
seemed obsessed with five common shapes in geometry. When diving deep into atomic structure we
see these shapes all over from viruses to salt. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto talking about a painter
known as Jackson Pollock. Jackson Pollock was a famous artist from the mid 20th

Essay On The Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies
A group of young British boys is stranded on an island with little to no supplies, besides a silly shell,
and a fire to keep their hope alive. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, a group of British boys
were shot out of an airplane and landed on a strange island, all separated from each other. It is a very
interesting novel which includes a series of intense and sad events that all play a part in leading the
group of boys to their rescue off of the island. The group of boys has also come across multiple items
which represent a larger and influential idea towards the reader. The fire, conch, and the specs which
belong to Piggy. The symbolic conch shell in Lord of the Flies evolved its meaning throughout the
novel seeing that it first represented order, became power, and ultimately a loss of civilization through
the course of the book.
To begin, throughout the beginning of Lord of the Flies, the conch shell becomes a symbol of order
and unity. After their tragic plane crash, one element that brought the boys together was the conch
shell. One of the main characters, Ralph, used the conch shell to call anyone else who is on the island,
which resulted in the other boys being found and a tribe being formed. When Ralph was voted chief,
he started to create rules that were based around the conch. Ralph picked up the conch and began to
explain the rules, And another thing. We can t have everybody talking at once. We ll have Hands up

Artificial Insemination and the Rights of Women, Men, and...
Women have adamantly battled for political and social reproductive rights since, in particular artificial
insemination, have become mainstream phenomena in the recent decade with a focus on rights of
women. In fact, doctors have experimented with the procedure for nearly a century. However, with the
women¹s liberation movement of the 1970s, physician assisted and self insemination has become more
and more popular among heterosexual career women and lesbians.

Women, usually healthy and fertile, enlist the help of physicians because they do not have access to
the one element that will yield them a child. And so, doctors prescribe a cure of sorts sperm. The
procedure allows women increased power to regulate the reproductive processes of their bodies.
Ironically, artificial insemination was not created as a method of empowerment for women. Rather for
men. Male scientists and researchers developed the technology for eugenic purposes, not to alleviate
the pressures of alternative lifestyles of women. That is, to improve the human species.
With the onset of research in genetics in the beginning of the twentieth century, scientists entertained
theories of quality control with respect to human reproduction. Scientists such as Francis Crick and
Dr. William Shockley believed that the growth rate of the population was increasing too rapidly, and
most importantly certain unfavorable demographic clusters were increasing. In short, the wrong
classes and races were reproducing with more frequency than was desired by these men. They hoped
that future progeny would be of the same superior caliber as themselves. To yield this, they proposed
schemes to tax children; to provide cash incentives for sterilization; to license women for the number
of children they may bear and men for the sperm they may deposit in seed banks;

A:No, usually no. However, we just had a controversy and parted ways with the head of the movement
because he got involved with politics. During a prolonged period of time some leaders were
attempting to go into politics, finally they achieved it, but many of the other leaders did not agree with
it, so we parted ways. They were trying to get into political positions in Colombia. We left but at the
same time we didn t, the Centi divided but we kept the name and those who stayed with him changed
their name to ICT, International Conference of Theotherapy.
Q: Do you talk to others about your religion? What is the most common misconception?
A: I talk to many other Christians or Catholics, but normally I don t because I don t have those

Reflective Essay on Writing Techniques I Have Learned
Over the past few months, I have learned several different writing techniques. While all of the
different types of papers were difficult to write, I believe that my writing skills have improved. In fact,
I did not understand all of the assignments, but I did try to do my best on all of them. While I should
have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs, I feel that I learned a great
deal. It is true that I have not had very much writing experience and the writing process is difficult for
me. Sometimes, I do admit, it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I am
a proficient writer.
For example, the research paper was one of the most difficult assignments that I have ever written. I

I did not introduce the person effectively. For example, when quoting someone, one should write
something such: as Balko points out that, he is upset with insurance companies (Balko). This example
is in my own words and is an example of a paraphrase. I quoted people and then would not write what
I thought about the quote afterwards. When doing this in an essay, the teacher has no way of knowing
what the student is trying to convey. A proper quote should start with an introduction. After the
introduction, you have to say what the person has said, followed by what you think about what they
said. After doing this, a student should cite the author by using parentheses. I did not know that a
writer was supposed to do this. My first paper was very inadequate.
Additionally, I also cited sources and then forgot where I got the information. However, the use of
citing information and research was also one of my debilitating points. Nevertheless, I believe after
the reminders, corrections, and proofreading that needed pointing out to me, helped me improve in
this area.
Research in the library labs were very helpful and informative in spotting web sites that were biased
and did not have creditable information. Many people make web sites that are not credible and it is
always good to select scholarly sources when writing research papers for school. When one researches
a subject, you should always keep good records. I am a disorganized person, and lose

Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin
Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of
these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the
colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not they
went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow colonists
looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to survive, and
they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences between the two
cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin had two entirely
different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them.
Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were either
going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a major event
that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s literature is It is a
solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and some there, like a
company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of hell hounds, roaring,
singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out (Rowlandson). This
quote uses an incredible amount of imagery and allows the reader to see just how Rowlandson feels
about the natives.

Different Types Of Motor For A Robotic Surgery System Essay
A client of Reverse engineering has given us three types of motors (DC motor, servo motor, and a
stepper motor) and tasked us with determining the best application for these motors. They have also
requested a recommendation of a DC motor for their newest robotic surgery system. The purpose of
this experiment is to investigate these three different types of motors, to determine the most useful
application for these different types of motors, and to give a recommendation of a DC motor for a
robotic surgery system. The following sections of this memo will detail different aspects of the
experiment. Section 2 will clearly present the results of the experiment and detail any observations.
Section 3 will discuss the significance of these results and section 4 will summarize and conclude the
memorandum. 2. Results and Description During the DC motor experiment, the weight trough was
observed to sway side to side when ascending. On occasion, the weights would swing into the table
and require the test to be run again. The stepper motor was observed to not always point exactly at one
of the designated angles (angles measuring 0, 45, 90, 135 etc.). Results were gathered three different
types of motors; a DC motor, servo motor, and a stepper motor. Table 1 displays the results for the DC
motor experiment The number of weights column represents the number of 1.6755 ounce force

Importance Of Self Driving Cars
One reason we should have self driving cars is because they are a lot safer than regular cars.
According to a Business Insider article, Driverless cars are designed to have almost a superhuman like
ability to recognize the world around them. This shows that they are a lot safer than regular cars
because it says they have a superhuman ability This is way better than just a regular driver. The way
these cars work is by having cameras on all sides, so this ability is a reference to the cars getting all
that information from the cameras at once. A regular driver can only see what s in front of them if they
are looking forwards, but a self driving car could actually see 365° around them. This is much better
than a person driving the car ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let s say that we theoretically took all teenage drivers off the road and put them in self driving cars.
These are America s newest drivers with the least experience on the road, so think about how many
less accidents there would be. If this is what self driving cars could do in Phoenix, think about what
they could do all over the rest of the world.
Another reason we should have self driving cars is because they are better for the environment. In an
article by Business Insider, Cadie Thompson says Because cars will be automated, there will be less
chance of accidents caused by human error, leading to less traffic congestion. This would be good for
the environment because less traffic means cars spend less time on the road. Some people get stuck in
traffic for hours at a time, which means their car is producing a lot of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), and that
is very bad for the environment. Less of these traffic jams would mean that cars would produce a lot
less CO2. Imagine that you are driving to work and get stuck in a traffic jam. You could go through
almost a whole tank of gas just waiting to get through it! But then, you get to the front just to realize
that a bad driver ran into the median and totaled his car. You just released a lot of CO2 into the air
because someone crashed their car. And you don t want to have to do that, do you? Self driving cars
would not make these mistakes, you would spend less time in traffic, leading to less CO2 emissions.

different perspective and is today considered a classic.
2. Heman Humphrey
Heman Humphrey was born on 26 March 1779 in Connecticut and died on 3 April 1861 in
Massachusettes. He was married to Sophia Porter and worked as a member of the clergy, as well as a
writer and functioned as the second president of Amherst College (1823 1845), which was founded in
1821 as a teaching institution for missionaries that would one day be based all around the globe. H.
Humphrey was elected to the presidency in July 1823 after his 10 years of ministry in Fairfield, CT
and six years of being the pastor of the church in Pittsfield, MA. His work had had great effect on
people and he was already seen as a pioneer and leader in the temperance movement alongside
Nathaniel Hewit, members of the First Church. In the approach of the Revolutionary War the economy
changed dramatically and this was accompanied by increasing poverty, which drove more and more
people into an excessive use of alcohol. Temperance advocates of the North developed from the

The Mexican Revolution
The Mexican Revolution began November 20th, 1910. It is disputable that it extended up to two
decades and seized more than 900,000 lives. This revolution, however, also ended dictatorship in
Mexico and restored the rights of farm workers, or peons, and its citizens. Revolutions are often
started because a large group of individuals want to see a change. These beings decided to be the
change that they wanted to see and risked many things, including their lives. Francisco Pancho Villa
and Emiliano Zapata are the main revolutionaries remembered. These figures of the revolution took on

Díaz, afraid of losing his presidency, rigged the election and had Madero arrested. After his release, he
fled to the United States and planned a revolt for November 20th, 1910. While this revolt did fail, it
inspired many people who were tired of being dictated to join in a revolution. Banding Together
Soon after this failed revolt, groups began to form in hopes to successfully remove Diaz. In Northern
Mexico, Francisco Villa returned and gathered an army of Mexican cowboys. Another army was led
by a peasant unsatisfied with the government with the name of Pascual Orozco. One of the bigger
groups consisted of Emiliano Zapata and they were called the Zapatistas. This force grew to include
over 5,000 men. In 1911 these groups worked together to overrun Díaz. Zapata seized the town of
Cuautla, and afterwards cut off the town from Mexico City. Díaz started to realize what was
happening and fled to Europe. This victory would start of a new conflict beginning.
The New Conflict
Soon after the victory Francisco Madero was declared as the new president. Madero tried to please
everybody which led to nothing being done. Nobody liked the lack of progress and people once again
started forming revolutionary groups. Victoriano Huerta, the leader of the conservative federal army,
and a faction of people led by Díaz s nephew Felix Díaz fought for ten days in Mexico City. This
battle is known as La Decena Tragica. On the ninth day of the battle, Felix Díaz

Socialism And Capitalism In George Orwell s 1984
Governments are formed through people rising to power in various methods whether it be force or

monarchies. All forms of government have different aspects that make them unique from each other.
In 1984 George Orwell combines the worst elements of socialism and capitalism to form INGSOC, a
government that controls society and forces the worship of Big Brother and his totalitarian regime. A
democracy in its purest form allows its citizens to have an equal say in decisions that affect their

The Controversy Of Banning Bottled Water
Plastic water bottles can take between 400 and 1,000 years to decompose according
to(www.banthebottle.net) .That can cause harm to the air that we breath and did you know that the
plastic in the bottles that we drink also has harmful chemicals in it such as such as bisphenol A (BPA).
These are just a few of the reason why Waunakee should ban bottled water.
One reason that I think that bottled water should be banned in Waunakee is because if we ban bottled
water we could actually save bottled water. it takes at least twice as much water to produce a plastic
water bottle as the amount of water in the water bottle. according to(hidden water in everyday
product) Certain countries that make water are in droughts and it they are most likely wasting alost of
their water on the plastic for the bottles. What you can do to prevent that is just drinking plain water
from your fridge. Also by doing that you could avoid drink the chemicals in the bottles. There for one
reason the I think that bottled water should be banned in Waunakee WI is because they use up too
much water actually make the plastic for the bottle.
A second reason why bottled water should be banned in Waunakee is because we are we are wasting
fossil fuels on them when we could use them for other things. Production of bottled water increases
the use of fossil fuels. according to ( cons of bottled water) we are already running out of fossil fuel

Bedtime: Kalinichta (good night) Apollon! May your light inspire me even as I dream.
Prayers in ancient Greece went along the following formula:
1) Greet the god in as many of his or her names as you can especially those relevant for the task. For a

There are a million adults who cannot read, one in six Londoners is functionally illiterate and people
who cannot read or write are excluded from opportunities and may eventually become alienated and
turn to crime (Johnson 2010, cited by Gross 2010). Gross (2010) expresses her concern and believes it
is not where the children live, it is how they were taught to read and how they were properly
motivated to learn to read. She endorses the synthetic systematic phonics approach as opposed to that
of the whole word approach and believes we must place our focus on reading as it is indispensable.
Phonics advocates have been arguing that in order for children to learn to read, they need to have an
explicit instruction in the rules of printed text in order to read properly. The phonics approach has been
described as bottom up as it teaches the children to decode text and then the meaning and
understanding will follow while the whole word approach is described as top down, as the children
depend on the pictures within the book, form hypothesis and make predictions of the words with the
text of the book being read (Wren, 2003).
Gross (2010) state that children should systematically be taught to read through phonics and not by
memorising whole words ; by the late 1970 s teachers were no longer fond of that approach as it was
not working because children were still struggling to read, it was dull and repetitive and new words
were introduced at a

Schick Razors Advertisement Analysis Essay
In a Game Informer magazine, I have found an advertisement for a Schick razor. The line of pictures
of bald men caught my eye, so I had to take a minute to see what this advertisement promotes. Schick
razors continue to rise as one of the most popular brands of razors for men and women. You can find
their advertisements virtually anywhere. This particular advertisement is for a newly designed razor
with a curved front, making it easier to get a close shave. Schick targets the male populations with this
advertisement. This advertisement has two pictures. The first shows four large, boldly framed pictures
of professionally dressed, aged bald men hanging on the wall. Underneath of these pictures, three
younger men set in white chairs lined up against the same wall, fidgeting with things. Another young
man sits in a chair facing to the side, separated from the others by an end table, looking up at the
pictures hanging on the wall. All the young men look sharply dressed and all have full heads of styled
hair. In the top corner, it says interview starts in 15 minutes . The second picture shows the same
scene, except the man sitting in the chair facing to the side, has shaved all his hair off. Him and an
older bald gentleman, who has just entered the room to call someone back for an interview, exchange

The razor, not the main focus, got overlooked easily when I first viewed the ad. The razor has a unique
design with its curved front, so I think that it should have taken center stage in the advertisement,
since the razor will sell and not the men. I remained too focused on looking at the men, trying to
figure out why the all sat there and why one guy had a bald head so quickly so I didn t even see the
razor. I had to look a little to finally realize what the advertisement promoted. If I plan to buy
something based off an advertisement, I do not want to have to solve a puzzle to know what they plan

The Mexican Culture And The Day Of The Dead
The experimentation and research that delves into the mind, social interactions, and the history of
social cultures can all relate to why peoples and groups partake in certain social cultural practices.
Psychology relates to the study of the human mind. It also studies the brain s functions and uses said
functions to explain behavior. Sociology pertains to societies throughout time, being defined as the
study of development, structure, and functioning of human societies. Anthropology is defined as the
study of human societies and cultures and their development. These three fields of study work to
explain behavior and its causes. As popular cultural practices and followings come and go, it is best to
use reliable scientific means to attempt to explain the seemingly ridiculous behaviors of those who
partake in particular pop culture habits. While some social interactions are silly, such as the obsession
with celebrities, some may end up being useful for society. One such useful practice is the celebration
of the Day of the Dead. The Mexican culture relating to the Day of the Dead celebrations prove to be
useful interactions and practices. In Mexican culture, the Day of the Dead is a lively celebration often
observed from November 1st until November 2nd. What is often misunderstood as a gruesome
exaggeration of death is, in reality, a wondrous celebration of lives, though passed. From the outside,
onlookers view this celebration with horror and disbelief at how friendly

Role Of Death In Tim O Brien s So It Go
So it goes, is a phrase that boggled my mind, ever since it was first mentioned in the book. A phrase
that can have many different meanings, but yet it is only three words. The phrase So it goes, was used
after every death, making them all equal. What even shocked me, is that Billy was calm when talking
about death. Implying that there was nothing he could do to stop it, and it would happen to the best of
us. In my opinion, the phrase So it goes, represents the idea that the Tralfamadorians had in which a
person may be dead at an instance, but is still alive in the memories of others. It had also represented
anti war beliefs that the author had, because of the bombing of Dresden. At the same time though, the
repetition of the phrase keeps a tally of the cumulative force of death throughout the novel, thus
pointing out the tragic inevitability of death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the only reason he had reasons to believe in the phrase So it goes, is because he was unstuck in
time, the bombing of dresden, and his life experiences such as the plane crash. Billy always thought of
life as simple after the war. He explains decades of his life in just a sentence. He recovers, marries a
woman, has children, and then becomes a wealthy optometrist. However, based off past descriptions
of the war, I can infer that Billy was traumatized during it. The instance he had with the Lazzaro that
promised to kill him, would also be traumatizing as well. So it goes, is a phrase that dismisses the idea
of a perfect world, where no war occurs, and insists that war will happen, whether or not anyone tries

very high voltage gain of a Photo Voltaic system, this paper proposed a buck boost inverter of single
stage. DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) and MPPT (maximum power point tracking) is
employed to get one power factor. Minimization of switching losses is employed with only two
switches and operated at very high frequency. Easy control capability, optimum size, affordable cost
with high voltage gain made the system employable. AC voltage conversion is achieved along with
boosting of DC voltage of Photo Voltaic system of inverter. Obstacle shadow variations also reduced
by means of having the possibility of reduced series connected modules; this ability is due to the high
voltage gain. Since the proposed design has the two buck boost converter each one operates for only
one half cycle and the Discontinuous conduction mode operates at unit power factor. Simulation
results assure the proposed idea of the single stage interleaved inverter for high voltage gain
applications. Index Terms Single Stage, Buck Boost Inverter, Low Cost, Grid Connected, PV system,

Shell Oil and the Exploitation of Nigeria Essays
Shell Oil and the Exploitation of Nigeria
Nigeria has been a country in political turmoil for a long time. The country was created in 1914 under
British colonial rule and at that time it was considered a protectorate. It was not until 1960 that Nigeria
received independence from the United Kingdom. One of Nigeria s problems politically is that it has
over three hundred different ethnic groups. The three largest of these are the Hausa Fulani, Igbo, and
Yoruba. At the time of the independence of Nigeria it was split up into three states with each state
being under the control of one of the major ethnic groups. The natural resources of the other 297
ethnic groups were exploited for the major three groups, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Epidemic Of Hiv And Hiv
The first cases of AIDS that were reported in the United States began in the early 1980s. Today, more
than 1.1 million people are living with HIV. In response to this HIV epidemic, at least 35 states have
implemented HIV specific criminal laws that penalize HIV positive people for exposing others to the
virus. These laws impose criminal penalties to HIV positive people that knowingly and potentially
expose others to the virus. The Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act, also
known as the CARE Act, provides states with funds for AIDS treatment and care. In 1990, the CARE
Act required every state to certify that its criminal laws were adequate to prosecute any HIV infected
individual who knowingly exposed another person to HIV. Criminal laws regarding potential HIV
exposure vary largely from state to state. Some federal legislation addresses the criminal penalties for
intentional exposure such as through blood donation. CDC and Department of Justice researches
found that, by 2011, a total of 67 laws explicitly focused on persons living with HIV had been enacted
in 33 states... In 24 states, laws require persons who are aware that they have HIV disclose their status
to sexual partners and 14 states require disclosure to needle sharing partners. The criminal laws vary
as to what behaviors are criminalized or result in additional penalties. The criminal statutes regarding

Identification and Evaluation of Sources
This investigation analyzes the impact that Porfirio Diaz s administration had on public interest and
particularly that of the primary education system. Through Diaz s foreign expeditions and through his
involvement in governmental action, the depiction and characteristics of the primary education system
were reformed. The question that derives from this development is:
How was the Porfiriato (1876 1910) a turning point in the Mexican system of primary education?

However, Diaz had an aristocratic ideology that was not well perceived by the majority of the nation
and this feeling grew more and more throughout the time of his administration. Diaz favored the elite
and foreign investors, which was also unwelcomed by public perspective. Nevertheless there were
developments within different realms. Whether those were positive or negative developments, it is a
relative matter. Diaz was especially fascinated by Europe and was fascinated by the culture there.
Vicente Riva Palacio embodies this fascination in his novel titled, Cuentos del General, which made
readers ponder about the life in Europe. This novel is an example of many that emerged during this era
and gives a glimpse into perspectives on Europe from the eyes of different inhabitants of Latin
America. On his excursions, Diaz discovered many different techniques that he desired to introduce to
the Mexican nation. Diaz s influence over education originated from his struggle to gaining public
favorability. As a result, Diaz decided that the nation s method of teaching history should favor his and
attribute to an increase of loyalty from the Mexican public (Gutierezz). Diaz s influence over history
education branched out to other aspects of education

Policy questions
The law of negligence has undergone enormous change and development in the past 50 years. Mostly
this has involved an expansion of liability, but quite often the courts have retreated and cut back on the
extent of liability. This in turn leads to inconsistency and uncertainty. The reasons for this are
complex, but they have in part to do with conflicting policy objectives. The

importance of understanding these policy objectives and the way that they are contributing to the
development of the law was explained in Chapter 1. Here are some of the most important
philosophical and policy issues that you should keep in mind and refer to as you prepare the material
in the next four chapters. The underlying idea in a negligence action is very simple. If the claimant s
injuries result from behaviour that falls short of socially acceptable standards, then there should be
compensation. If they do not, then the victim should bear the loss without compensation. Since
carelessness is not generally criminal, the tort of negligence is the means by which the law attaches
consequences to unacceptable behaviour. Lord Diplock once

Analysis Of Hills Like White Elephants
The short story Hills like White Elephants written by Ernest Hemingway contains lots of hidden
meaning and symbolism. It is almost crpytic and engimatic.
The story is hard to understand at first and then you start to realize that there is a much deeper
meaning to the story. One has to read the entire story until the end to understand what is going on,
then a second time to fully and completely comprehend the hidden meaning behind the dialogue in
this short story. The story Hills like
White Elephants at the surface seems to be a simple story and contains straightforward dialogue, but
all of it can be analzyed and we can see that there s is a much deeper meaning behind it all. The girl
named Jig suggests that the hills look like white elephants. Which is a reference to the saying the
white elephant in the room . The saying the white elephant in the room means that there is something
that everyone knows about and there is almost a sense of tension in the air. As if there was a white
elephant in the room, everyone knows it is there but no one wants to talk about it. One example of a
white elephant situation is where a family member crashed a car, but at dinner that night no one
speaks of it, but that s whats on everyone s minds. The entire short story seems to reference that there
is something that is going to happen to the girl but it is by her choice. At first glance it seems like she
is going to do something irreversible as implied in the lines ...And once they take it away you can
never take it back . Whatever she is about to do is going to change her life forever. And this choice she
is going to make creates tension between her and the man, which I assume is her lover. It is clear he
wants to go forward with it, he keeps telling her how simple it is and how We ll be fine afterwards,
just like we were before . From everything said in the story, we can conclude that it is an abortion she
is going to have. The way the girl speaks she seems to be very anxious and nervous. She wants to try
different alchoholic drinks and continues to make suggestive, implicative small talk. Jig seems to be
very unsure of her choice, and her lover is very encouraging of her decision

Research Paper on How Plants Absorb Nutrients
How plants get liquid and minerals
Flowers absorb liquid through their roots, which are attached to xylem vessels. Xylem vessels are
tubes that can expand through several feet of tissue and be .7mm in diameter. Their walls are
thickened with cellulose deposits. Xylem bring water up to the leaves and petals of the plant. Even
without contact with the roots, the xylem can still absorb water. Because of this, a cut flower usually
doesn t die for a couple days (as long as it is placed in water of course).
The fluid inside of the plants is transported by capillary action. Capillary action is caused by surface

MOTION ANALYSIS OF TRIKONASANA
ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to analyse human motion during Trikonasana from a

Low cost Inertial sensors(IMU) were used to obtain segment parameters for Trikonasana. Trikonasana

Mainstreaming with regards to education is a term that alludes to the act of instructing understudies

custom curriculum is conveyed outside the general classroom, where the understudy with the unique

Essay On Haste And Immature In Romeo And Juliet
As a late father, author, experienced polymath, brilliant inventor and politician Benjamin Franklin
often informed people to take time for all things: great haste makes great waste. Being one of the
founding fathers of the United States, Franklin declared that haste will lead to missed opportunities
and chaos. He also indicated that you should take time to think of every outcome, that may include
thinking about other people s fate or just your own. The adults and the young adolescents in this play
are all at fault for the rivalry. In Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet the majority of the conflicts
constructed have been by haste and immaturity created by the young adolescents and a sufficient
amount of adults. In their lifetime, plenty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juliet is willing to die for him regardless of the place or how they met; even though Juliet did not get
notified of his name until after the party. These are the leading factors of haste and immaturity found
in children and while there are many more prime examples of it, there are also excessive amounts to
do with adult haste and immaturity. Although parents or adults will not admit it to the younger
audience, they can be immature and hasty. There are no rules about how to act and everyone makes
mistakes, as it is natural to want to rush into things and do their job accurately even if they do not have
experience in that field. Juliet s father, Capulet is one of the several victims of haste and immaturity.
Regardless, he is very controlling, and he decides to make Juliet s wedding as soon as possible, so he
picks O Thursday let it be. O Thursday, tell her, / [Juliet] shall be married to this noble earl. (3:4:20
21). Paris proclaims as he realizes how soon it is acknowledging that Thursday [is] tomorrow.
(3:4:30). When Paris goes to see Friar Laurence, the Friar questions the haste in this marriage and
Paris explains that father Capulet will have it so and it is not his place to change Capulet s mind
(4:1:4). It is immature that Paris says that he could not change Capulet s mind because he is the man
getting married, and he also did not try to change the date. An

Tennyson s Ulysses show similarities in the overall theme, death, but each brings it out in different

of use of stylistic devices.

While Browning emphasizes on rhyme, Tennyson focuses on the thoughts of the old and retired pirate,
Ulysses. He uses words more to convey the message than to follow grammatical rules. He also uses
simple words to describe the profound contrast of his retirement to his kingdom, distanced from the
adventurous life he once lived. Thus, the structure uses a mixture of flashback and foreshadowing
Ulysses life during the Trojan War, and his son s life after his (Ulysses ) demise.
The persona of the poem is Ulysses himself. Just like the Duke in My Last Duchess, he uses dramatic
monologue. This is demonstrated when he talks to his soldiers during his past years as an energetic
youth. Using the stylistic feature of flashback, he takes readers through his past life, connoting the
excitement it brought him. He then brings one back to the present that immensely shows the contrast
and equal discontent that Ulysses feels. The flashback also aids in building the image of the poem, in
order to identify oneself with the persona. Furthermore, he uses a mixture of archaic and simple
words, which is also seen in Browning s

  • 3. Mr Du Sautoy The Code This episode of The Code began with Mr. Du Sautoy giving another example of mathematical principles in the real world. This example happens in northern Ireland where a small short line of rocks is arranged into odd hexagonal shapes. To highlight this principle further, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto another example in nature which should be very close to home and that is bees. Bees make their hives out of a precious substance to them known as wax. Was, being very hard for them to produce, is put into the most efficient and space saving form as possible. This shape is again, the hexagon. When anything comes into the universe it tries to become the most efficient shape it can possibly be. An example that Mr. Du Sautoy gives is bubbles. Bubbles are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, when multiple spheres are put together they share common walls. These common walls can be perfectly straight and then become the next most efficient shape. So, when putting the most efficient singular shape together many times, it will eventually create a lot of hexagons. This is the reason for the exquisite looking beach and why bees chose to make their hives in the shape of hexagons. It is the most efficient shape that can be mass reproduced. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto the study of measuring the Earth and shapes, in other words geometry. The example Mr. Du Sautoy uses is that of mines. Deep into the Earth in Germany there are perfectly cubic shaped salt crystals. These crystals are created so perfectly because the atoms of sodium and chlorine are perfectly cubic. This translates into the larger crystals being perfectly cubic. Mr. Du Sautoy expresses how the Greeks seemed obsessed with five common shapes in geometry. When diving deep into atomic structure we see these shapes all over from viruses to salt. Next, Mr. Du Sautoy moved onto talking about a painter known as Jackson Pollock. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, a group of British boys were shot out of an airplane and landed on a strange island, all separated from each other. It is a very interesting novel which includes a series of intense and sad events that all play a part in leading the group of boys to their rescue off of the island. The group of boys has also come across multiple items which represent a larger and influential idea towards the reader. The fire, conch, and the specs which belong to Piggy. The procedure allows women increased power to regulate the reproductive processes of their bodies. Ironically, artificial insemination was not created as a method of empowerment for women. Rather for men. Male scientists and researchers developed the technology for eugenic purposes, not to alleviate the pressures of alternative lifestyles of women. That is, to improve the human species. With the onset of research in genetics in the beginning of the twentieth century, scientists entertained theories of quality control with respect to human reproduction. Scientists such as Francis Crick and Dr. William Shockley believed that the growth rate of the population was increasing too rapidly, and most importantly certain unfavorable demographic clusters were increasing. In short, the wrong classes and races were reproducing with more frequency than was desired by these men. They hoped that future progeny would be of the same superior caliber as themselves. To yield this, they proposed schemes to tax children; to provide cash incentives for sterilization; to license women for the number of children they may bear and men for the sperm they may deposit in seed banks; ... While all of the different types of papers were difficult to write, I believe that my writing skills have improved. In fact, I did not understand all of the assignments, but I did try to do my best on all of them. While I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs, I feel that I learned a great deal. It is true that I have not had very much writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. When doing this in an essay, the teacher has no way of knowing what the student is trying to convey. A proper quote should start with an introduction. After the introduction, you have to say what the person has said, followed by what you think about what they said. After doing this, a student should cite the author by using parentheses. • 9. Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not they went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow colonists looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to survive, and they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences between the two cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin had two entirely different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them. Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were either going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a major event that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s literature is It is a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of hell hounds, roaring, singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out (Rowlandson). Another reason we should have self driving cars is because they are better for the environment. In an article by Business Insider, Cadie Thompson says Because cars will be automated, there will be less chance of accidents caused by human error, leading to less traffic congestion. This would be good for the environment because less traffic means cars spend less time on the road. Some people get stuck in traffic for hours at a time, which means their car is producing a lot of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), and that is very bad for the environment. Literature Review On The Phonics Literature Review The Debate There are a million adults who cannot read, one in six Londoners is functionally illiterate and people who cannot read or write are excluded from opportunities and may eventually become alienated and turn to crime (Johnson 2010, cited by Gross 2010). Gross (2010) expresses her concern and believes it is not where the children live, it is how they were taught to read and how they were properly motivated to learn to read. She endorses the synthetic systematic phonics approach as opposed to that of the whole word approach and believes we must place our focus on reading as it is indispensable. Phonics advocates have been arguing that in order for children to learn to read, they need to have an explicit instruction in the rules of printed text in order to read properly. The phonics approach has been described as bottom up as it teaches the children to decode text and then the meaning and understanding will follow while the whole word approach is described as top down, as the children depend on the pictures within the book, form hypothesis and make predictions of the words with the text of the book being read (Wren, 2003). Gross (2010) state that children should systematically be taught to read through phonics and not by memorising whole words ; by the late 1970 s teachers were no longer fond of that approach as it was not working because children were still struggling to read, it was dull and repetitive and new words were introduced at a ... The Mexican Culture And The Day Of The Dead The experimentation and research that delves into the mind, social interactions, and the history of social cultures can all relate to why peoples and groups partake in certain social cultural practices. Psychology relates to the study of the human mind. It also studies the brain s functions and uses said functions to explain behavior. Sociology pertains to societies throughout time, being defined as the study of development, structure, and functioning of human societies. Anthropology is defined as the study of human societies and cultures and their development. These three fields of study work to explain behavior and its causes. As popular cultural practices and followings come and go, it is best to use reliable scientific means to attempt to explain the seemingly ridiculous behaviors of those who partake in particular pop culture habits. While some social interactions are silly, such as the obsession with celebrities, some may end up being useful for society. One such useful practice is the celebration of the Day of the Dead. DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) and MPPT (maximum power point tracking) is employed to get one power factor. Minimization of switching losses is employed with only two switches and operated at very high frequency. Easy control capability, optimum size, affordable cost with high voltage gain made the system employable. AC voltage conversion is achieved along with boosting of DC voltage of Photo Voltaic system of inverter. Obstacle shadow variations also reduced by means of having the possibility of reduced series connected modules; this ability is due to the high voltage gain. Since the proposed design has the two buck boost converter each one operates for only one half cycle and the Discontinuous conduction mode operates at unit power factor. Simulation results assure the proposed idea of the single stage interleaved inverter for high voltage gain applications. Chapter 6 deals with the liability of two particular categories of defendants: that of occupiers towards those on their premises, and that of employers towards their employees. 2.3 Policy questions The law of negligence has undergone enormous change and development in the past 50 years. Mostly this has involved an expansion of liability, but quite often the courts have retreated and cut back on the extent of liability. This in turn leads to inconsistency and uncertainty. The reasons for this are complex, but they have in part to do with conflicting policy objectives. The 14 University of London External Programme Chapter 2 Negligence: basic principles importance of understanding these policy objectives and the way that they are contributing to the development of the law was explained in Chapter 1. The underlying idea in a negligence action is very simple. If the claimant s injuries result from behaviour that falls short of socially acceptable standards, then there should be compensation. If they do not, then the victim should bear the loss without compensation. Since

It is almost crpytic and engimatic. The story is hard to understand at first and then you start to realize that there is a much deeper meaning to the story. One has to read the entire story until the end to understand what is going on, then a second time to fully and completely comprehend the hidden meaning behind the dialogue in this short story. The story Hills like White Elephants at the surface seems to be a simple story and contains straightforward dialogue, but all of it can be analzyed and we can see that there s is a much deeper meaning behind it all. The girl named Jig suggests that the hills look like white elephants. Which is a reference to the saying the white elephant in the room . The saying the white elephant in the room means that there is something that everyone knows about and there is almost a sense of tension in the air. As if there was a white elephant in the room, everyone knows it is there but no one wants to talk about it. One example of a white elephant situation is where a family member crashed a car, but at dinner that night no one speaks of it, but that s whats on everyone s minds. The entire short story seems to reference that there is something that is going to happen to the girl but it is by her choice. At first glance it seems like she is going to do something irreversible as implied in the lines ...And once they take it away you can never take it back . Whatever she is about to do is going to change her life forever. And this choice she is going to make creates tension between her and the man, which I assume is her lover. It is clear he wants to go forward with it, he keeps telling her how simple it is and how We ll be fine afterwards, just like we were before . From everything said in the story, we can conclude that it is an abortion she is going to have. The way the girl speaks she seems to be very anxious and nervous. Thus, the structure uses a mixture of flashback and foreshadowing Ulysses life during the Trojan War, and his son s life after his (Ulysses ) demise. The persona of the poem is Ulysses himself. Just like the Duke in My Last Duchess, he uses dramatic monologue. This is demonstrated when he talks to his soldiers during his past years as an energetic youth.
