A Brief Note On Security Tactics Adoption And A Security...
IV. CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Ryoo, J. et al. was successful in investigating the degree of security tactics adoption and clearly
identified a security gap between the design and implementation of the software.
The authors followed a manual process to study security vulnerabilities in open source software.
Processes like code review or searching for security keywords in the documentation or source code
does not prove if the software protects its users from malicious intrusions or leaking private data.
The authors searched for keywords like security, authenticate, authorize, cipher, encrypt etc. in the
source code of the selected 53 Open Source Software to see if any of these security tactics appear as
file names or class names. This is not a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
900 social insurance numbers were stolen from Canadian Revenue Agency by exploiting the
heartbleed bug.
To identify such critical bugs, there has to be an automated testing framework that tests common
programming errors, data leakage and other ways of malicious intrusions into the application. This
paper is very limited to identifying the rate of usage of the security tactics in open source software.
Well documented and implemented security policies are very important to maintain the quality and
reliability of any software application.
V. OUR CONTRIBUTION
The following are some of our recommendations that should be considered when deploying or using
any open source software.
A. Notification
Getting users to update to the lasted version of the application has been a long lasting issue with Open
Source Software. The main reason for this was attributed to the lack of awareness about the security
update. All the security patches to the application are pushed to consumers through such updates.
Maintenance is very important to maintain the quality and reliability of the product. In the software
industry updates are a form of maintenance.
We suggest Open source software community to start notifying consumers about the update. This can
done by assigning a unique identification for each of its users and mandatorily collecting their contact
information. Subscribing users to the respective open source

Experiences of World War One in All Quiet on the Western...
Wars have always been events that I enjoy learning about, reading about and just discovering what
went on. So when this project rolled around I had no problem choosing the novel All Quiet on the
Western Front, which was written by Erich Maria Remarque. Erich had been a German soldier
towards the end of WWI and had, first hand experienced the pure terror that is war. I had heard of this
book through my father who is also a major war enthusiast. Him and I have had numerous
conversations about both World War I and II, as he was the one that originally suggested I read this
book. I have to say that it was a tremendous suggestion in that this novel to me seems to be one of the
finest pieces of anti war literature ever penned. The way the novel is able to portray the mindset of a
soldier was beautifully done and shows the complete deterioration that occurs over time. First to
understand more about the novel and its author, Erich Maria Remarque, it would be helpful to learn
about his life. Erich was born on June 22, 1898 (internet source 4) in the town of Osnabruck Germany.
He was born into a poor family to his father, Peter Maria Kramer, and mother, Anna Marie Kramer
(internet source 5). His father was a bookbinder while Erich was a kid (internet source 5). He also had
2 other siblings and his family as a whole moved at least 11 during his childhood. To say Erich had a
turbulent childhood would be an understatement; he grew up in circumstances most people could not
even begin

Prejudice and Racism in The Jewel in the Crown and Heart...
Racism in The Jewel in the Crown and Heart of Darkness
The effects of British colonialism are reflected in literature from both early modernism and post
colonialism. Racial discrimination tainted both eras portrayed in the British morale of white
supremacy over non European counties unfolded. Heart of Darkness exemplifies early modernism in
the British explorers viewed African natives of the Congo as incapable of human equality due to
perceived uncivilized savagery. Personal interaction between races was little to none, as the freshly
conquered Africans were still viewed as alien. Likewise, Jewel in the Crown, exemplifies of post
colonialism, echoes racism from the British Rule in India. Postcolonial literature evolved from ...

inequality based largely on skin color, effected where the interracial couple felt comfortable exploring
the nature of human bonding. They finally felt confide to Biblighar, as no white man or white women
would come into the gardens since the gardens always seemed to have a purely Indian connection

kinship blind of race as Marlow s view as she affirms that a friendship between two human beings can

As the learned prejudice instilled in the both literary characters begin to dissolve, the theme resonates
the questioning of British values in the exploration of human bonding. The British superior right of to
conquer and rule over people indigenous of there own nation was questioned. The value could not
hold true as some British people. The theme is evident as Marlow begins to feel compassion for the
conquered African people, especially after experiencing loss due to the death of his African

Supercontinental Formation
The Earth goes through supercontinent episodes where a defined amalgamation and consequent rifting
of continents is evident. One hypotheses defines a 250 m.y. periodicity in Phanerozoic sea level,
orogeny, basin formation, climate and magmatic activity. Stages of the supercontinental cycle include
global sea level regression accompanied by increased crustal compression, continental erosion and
climatic deterioration followed by orogeny, granitoid magmatism and glaciation, and finally mafic
magmatism, global transgression and climatic amelioration. Cyclic nature of Phanerozoic sedimentary
rock distribution and material transfer among sedimentary reservoirs were controlled by tectonic
factors. Episodic peaks in collisional orogenesis and rift related mafic dike swarms occur every 500
m.y. Crustal extension and formation of young ocean basins would first cause sea level to rise and
then fall as floors of new ocean aged. Subduction of old oceanic lithosphere coupled with crustal
shortening associated with orogenesis would cause sea level to rise again. ... Show more content on

Trends during supercontinent breakup include younging of world ocean floor through rifting and
minimal collisional orogeny. Some supercontinent assembly trends include maximum accretionary

the continental lithosphere acting as a thermal insulator to mantle heat flow. Supercontinents would

supercontinent processes. Figure 1 displays 3 different cyclic trends over time in the

Star Trek Myths
Both Star Trek and Star Wars are historically popular film series and cinematic works of art. Although
they may be works of fiction, the elements and symbols contained within them resemble historical
fact. In these films, there are culturally inherited myths that are synonymous with the very roots of
western civilization. In this essay, I will examine different examples of myth that are present in these
films, what they mean, and offer an explanation for why they are significant. In order to help
understand my thesis, the question may be asked, What is myth? In terms of this essay Myths are the
instruments by which we continually struggle to make our experience intelligible to ourselves. A myth

This is an example of Star Trek taking real events from the past and breathing life back into them by
retelling them in a utopian future. In Star Trek s series Deep Space Nine, the planet of Bajor, and its
inhabitants, the Bajorans are like the Hebrew people of Earth, They had a central religion that kept
them hopeful but also made them seem inferior. Instead of the Holocaust it is called the occupation
and it ends with the death of over 10 million people, often in camps. Even more so, the people
commiting this genocide, the Cardassians, were bankrupt, and forced into wars for agricultural land,
with the rise of a new fascist leader they began conquest. This closely mirrors The bankruptcy of
Germany in the 1920 s and their agricultural crisis which led to the rise of the power of Adolf Hitler.
With the help of Star Trek s United Nations, The united federation of planets The bajorans are able to
regain their homeland and be freed from their camps and establish a weak government. Now this
almost like a direct reflection of the events that took place in World War 2. It is very hard to talk about
or in a way recreate such a horrifying atrocity without criticism, the only way Star Trek did so was
because they put more emphasis on the good parts and the liberation, instead of the countless deaths of
innocents. This ties into another mythos that is key to Star Trek, The

The Competitive Landscape Of The Industry
INTRODUCTION To understand the competitive landscape of the industry in which one is
competing, it must understand how to formulate strategies that will create a profitable business. A
business must know what it is good at to be able to effectively have a competitive advantage over
other businesses within that industry. The profitability of Mylan Pharmaceuticals largely depends on
their ability to discover and market new drugs. The desire to cure illness and disease is what demands
pharmaceutical companies like Mylan to be empowered to do their very best. Companies like Mylan

competitive strategy analysis will show why Mylan Pharmaceuticals is one of the leading generic and
specialty drug manufacturing companies in the world. MYLAN PHARMACEUTICALS In 1961,

Tim O Brien s How To Tell A True War Story
The Things They Carried is a book written by Tim O Brien. It features many different stories from
many different people who fought or participated in the Vietnam War. There are two particular stories,
How to Tell a True War Story and Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, that stand out because they use
surrealism. Surrealism is the word to describe what most people may perceive as unreal . These stories
use surrealism by creating elements in the story that almost sound impossible, but the author insists
that they are true. Throughout the story, we are constantly asking what is real and not real. But, if we
use examples from the book, it may be easier to define what is real and unreal.
How to Tell a True War Story is one of these two stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They both follow the rules of a true war story, not having morals and not being an uplifting story, and
they sound almost believable. Yet, another rule of telling a true war story is that the story must be
unbelievable in order for it to be true. So, going by this logic, the stories in How to Tell a True War
Story must all be untrue or greatly exaggerated, and the Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong is mostly
true. The reason for why How to Tell a True War Story is not true is because that many of the stories,
including the story of Curt Lemon and the signing mountains, are just too believable to be true war
stories. Neither of them have a moral, one of the rules for a TRUE war story is that they must sound
unbelievable, and these two stories are much too normal for them to be a true war story. Although the
stories in the chapter How to Tell a True War Story may not be completely true, they could be a
collection of exaggerated stories that the author Tim O Brien heard about while he was in Vietnam.
Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong on the other hand, has all the elements of a true war story . It does
not have an easily discernible moral, isn t uplifting, nor suggest model of proper human behavior, and
is crazy enough to be true. Although some parts may be exaggerated for effect. For example, the
leopard head in the Greenie s hut. It can easily agreed upon that this story may be an actual war

Why Is Sugar Shack Johnny Novak
SUGAR SHACK JOHNNY NOVAK JACK by Craig Fleming Joe Novak, aka Sugar Shack Johnny,
aka Jack, was a complicated man, who lived a life that was in many ways, larger than life. He was a
tough, intelligent, compassionate, and inarguably fearless man who was incredibly comfortable in his
own skin. He is missed and remembered with a lot of love. Joe Novak had bigger balls than anyone I
have ever known, and those big balls were securely connected to his big heart. I am still intrigued, to
this day, by the harmony, and conflict, between his passion for knowledge, empathy, and brawn it was
a very rare combination of qualities, with the all the raw emotion and complexity of a classical music

Some of his tactics paralleled famed martial artist, Bruce Lee philosophies Be unpredictable, and, Be

definitions, a One of a Kind human being. I am proud to have known him and to have been his friend.
I can still hear his grizzly bear voice, and his laughter, in my heart, and in the unsettled corners of my
mind. Sugar Shack Johnny, as he was known in the pool halls of days gone by, had a rare combination
of heart, muscle, and mind. He knew about hard roads and hard rides, and he loved life. Novak was a
fearless tush hog. Even more impressively, Sugar Shack would not carry a gun, although many of his
enemies did carry guns. It is impossible for me to perceive him as his adversaries did, way back then.
He may have been unfairly stereotyped in the darkness of the countless pool halls he undoubtedly
knew inside and out, because he had a fearless confidence about him, borne of circumstance and an
irrepressible will to succeed. But most remarkably, there was a timeless light that emanated from his
charisma. He was not a man who went looking for trouble, but if trouble came looking for him or
someone he loved, I would always put my money on Joe, even when he was 75 years old. Recently, in
spite of his reputation, I sensed that Joe

Essay on Critical Circumstances of the Vietnam War
CRITICAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE VIETNAM WAR
The Vietnam War was a cold war that spanned from 1956 to the fall of Saigon on April 30th 1975. It
can be seen that the end result of the Vietnam War tainted America s image through its failure to
demolish the Vietnamese Communist Government . It should be noted that many years before
America was directly involved with the war, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were under French colonial
rule where the Việt Minh (the communist nationalist independence coalition) spent many years
fighting for freedom from the French. In 1959 the Geneva Conference permitted the foremost powers
to come to an agreement on Indochina which would temporarily divide Vietnam at the 17th parallel.

VIETNAMESE INSIGHTS AND PERSPECTIVES During the Vietnam War the Northern part of
Vietnam was controlled by the Việt Minh while also being supported by communist China and Russia.
The Novel, The Sorrow of War: A Novel of North Vietnam, written by Bao Ninh, does not heavily
emphasize the political position of the North solely, but tells the tale of a Vietnam soldier who has
lived through war, who happens to be fighting for the North s cause. Kien, the main character,
attempts to comfort both his personal and national losses through recounting experiences by compiling
a memoir, while also exploring the causes of anguish behind the war. A recurring theme in the novel is
the idea of people who fight in the war and people who become affected by the war both share a heavy
burden of trauma and suffering. As the story unfolds, Kien recalls his position as a platoon
commander responsible for collecting corpses, but then turns in for the night on a hammock on a
transport truck very close to the edges of The Jungle of Screaming Souls. Being a survivor of many
gruesome battles within this jungle, Kien suddenly begins to suffer from vivid flashbacks of his time
fighting. He also recalls the desperation of him and his comrades, who would consume

Threats Of Cryptography And Steganography

security of our information transmitted through the internet. The unauthorized or illegal access of the
data or tampering of data is very high. In order to provide security of data being accessed by
unauthorized people, information security is required [1].
Cryptography and Steganography is too used to secure communication. According to dictionary.com:
Steganography is: Hiding a secret message within a larger one in such a way that others cannot discern

6. Steganography does not alter the structure of the secret message. Cryptography alters the structure

1.2 History of Steganography
The first use of steganography is reported by Herodotus, the so called father of history, who mentions
that in ancient Greek, hidden text was written on wax tablets. When Demeratus wanted to notify
Sparta that the king of Persia, Xerxes, intended to invade Greece, he wrote this message on a tablet
and covered it with wax. To recover the message the other people in Sparta simply had to scrape the
wax off the tablet [3].
1.3 Steganography
The basic concept is that it has a cover object that is used to cover the original message image, a host
object that is the message or main image which is to be transmitted and the steganography algorithm
to carry out the required object. The output is an image called stego image which has the message
image inside it, hidden. This stego image is then sent to the receiver where the receiver retrieves the
message image by applying the de steganography

Fauchere J, Koller B, Tschopp A et al., Safety of Early High Dose Recombinant Erythropoietin for
Neuroprotection in Very Preterm Infants, The Journal of Pediatrics (167)1, 52 57, 2015.
Background:
The article, which was published in July 2015 in journal of pediatrics, gives an idea about the safe use
of erythropoietin in preterm infants for protection of nervous system. Premature birth has remained
one of the major risk factor for cerebral palsy, cognitive defect and psychomotor development. Hence,
the main objective of the study present in this article was to ensure the safety and efficacy of use of
high dose erythropoietin in premature babies for neuro protection. The primary hypothesis of this
study was that high dose of recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEpo) improves mental develop
mental index (MDI) of premature infants born at 24 months of age compared to the placebo.
Methods and materials:
It was a randomized, double blinded placebo controlled multicenter study, which was carried on
preterm born between 26 0/7 and 31 6/7 weeks of gestation. Preterms with congenital malformations,
genetically defined syndromes and severe IVH≥III before randomization were excluded from the
study. The participants were randomly assigned to receive rhEpo or NaCl 0.9 percent in advanced by

The Decline of Blockbuster Entertainment
How could a company that was built into a multibillion dollar empire fail less than two decades later?
Blockbuster Entertainment started with one store in Dallas in 1985 and rose up to become the
dominant force in the movie rental industry. They were acquired by Viacom, at the pinnacle of their
success, for $8.4 billion in 1994 and were in bankruptcy by 2010. A series of blunders by upper
management, highlighted by a lack of strategic vision, led to Blockbuster s rapid decline and ultimate
failure.
In 2000 Blockbuster had the opportunity to purchase rival, Netflix but failed to envision Netflix s
potential. The founder of Netflix, Reed Hastings, met with then CEO of Blockbuster, John Antioco, to

In turn Blockbuster was left buried in debt, with an antiquated infrastructure and no means to improve

In 2005 Blockbuster eliminated late fees due to it being their number one customer complaint. In an
ironic twist, Reed Hastings had founded Netflix after incurring a $40 late fee for returning the movie
Apollo 13 late to his local Blockbuster. Ending late fees would cost Blockbuster nearly $400 million
in yearly profits. This now placed them in a position where they no longer had the cash flow to pay
down their debt obligations, and with the reduction in profits they were also unable to reinvest in their
company. With the end to late fees customers began to keep their rentals longer. This resulted in a new
number one customer complaint of titles always being out of stock. Red Box, founded in 2003, would
be the finishing knockout punch to Blockbuster. Already reeling from customer losses to Netflix,
Blockbuster management failed, once again, to realize the potential of a new delivery system, the
kiosk. Blockbuster had investigated kiosk delivery systems even before Red Box was introduced.
They chose to instead believe that human interaction would keep their customer base intact. Red box s
initial price of $1 a day rentals was a big consumer draw in comparison to Blockbusters $5 fee.

The Trinity And The Kingdom Of God
Preamble
Over the past few decades there has been much written, from both Catholic and Protestant
perspectives, on the doctrine of the Trinity . The consensus among these various writings has been
that, although the doctrine is important and central to the Christian faith and theology, it has been
neglected and made obscure, and has become a complex and theological technical term . This
obscurity renders the doctrine of the Trinity impossible to understand or apply to ordinary life.
Karl Rahner in his observations insists that modern Christians are almost mere monotheists , only
paying lip service to the doctrine of Trinity but lacking in the actual practices . Rahner s observation
has been widely acknowledged with the desire being to make a change .
The need to place the doctrine of the Trinity at the heart of Christianity would be considered the
epistemological and methodological safe ground upon which other doctrines are based. Since Júrgen
Moltmann s book The Trinity and the Kingdom of God was published in 1980, the propagation of a
social understanding of God has gained propulsion. Kilby says that such an understanding has become

External Auditors Independence Case Study
Why is it important for external auditor to be independent?
Throughout the years, banks, shareholders, possible investors and creditors always relied on the
financial statements produced by a company. Since the management of a company is producing these
documents it has been assumed that the managers may act dishonestly so that their performance looks
better. To monitor the company s performance better the directors along with the shareholders employ
external auditors to check all these financial statements for both intentional and unintentional errors.
Therefore, external auditors have no motivation to produce dishonest reports, hence they are regarded
as being truly independent. But can they actually be independent when their ... Show more content on

Deloitte was providing Adelphia with external Audit for more than 15 years, but suddenly (in the end
of 2001) they stopped working, claiming that the information provided by Adelphia was unreliable.
After the criminal investigation conducted by the SEC, Deloitte was accused of negligence, deception
and failure to reveal fraud. According to the SEC (2005), the results are Deloitte Touche LLP has
agreed to pay $50 million to settle charges stemming from its audit of Adelphia Communications
Corporation s fiscal year 2000 financial statements. Although Deloitte wasn t pronounced guilty, it is
obvious that they could have easily detected and disclosed the omissions and fraud that they could
have found. If that had happened, probably the scale of this catastrophe would have been smaller and
Adelphia wouldn t have gone totally bankrupt. This case inevitably shows us the importance of
independent auditing.
Another threat to the independence of the auditors is a phenomenon which took place around 3 or 4

Why Are Asbestos Dangerous
What makes Asbestos Dangerous?
There are many dangers associated with exposure to asbestos. The results of this exposure are severe
and sometimes fatal. The environment contains fewer amounts of Asbestos, but the majority of the
problems occur from professional hazards. People working in the construction industry, especially
those using materials containing asbestos have a high exposure to asbestos. Asbestos dust and fibers
cause significant health problems when inhaled in larger volumes over an extended period of time.
That s why most states in the US and Europe have made laws that require testing of buildings for
asbestos before demolishing them.
Asbestos enters the body mostly through breathing. Experts consider asbestos material dangerous only
if it releases fibers or dust into the atmosphere. Inhalation or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Health Effects of Asbestos Exposure
When these fibers get discharged into the air, people inhale them into their systems. Once inhaled and
lodged into the body tissues, the body cannot break them down, thereby leading to health problems.
There are three primary diseases associated with exposure to asbestos:
Lung Cancer
Asbestosis
Mesothelioma
Lung Cancer
Most of asbestos exposure related deaths are as a result of lung cancer. People who manufacture and
use products with high concentration of asbestos have a high risk of getting lung cancer. The lung
cancer patients experience coughing and change in breathing. Other symptoms of lung cancer include
hoarseness, anemia, shortness of breath and persistent chest problems.
The risk is high in people who are exposed to asbestos and also smoke. Asbestosis workers who
smoke are more likely to develop lung cancer than those who don t smoke

Are Celebrities Good Role Models
Teenagers often turn to their favorite celebrities for guidance in their everyday lives. Celebrities have
become mainstream role models for teens as their images and lifestyles are normally advertised across
television, movies, magazines, and all throughout pop culture. Teens that try to emulate their favorite
celebrities may select good or bad role models that can be positive or negative for them
(www.child.net). Problems with teens linked to celebrities include teen behaviors resulting in celebrity
influence and self esteem and body image issues for teens. Celebrity fashion also plays a role in the
behavior of teenagers. It can make a teen look older than he/she really is and can even make them self
conscious.

What Is The Theme Of Father And Son By Bernard Maclaverty
Father and Son is a short story written by the Irish Bernard MacLaverty in 1978. The short story takes
place in Northern Ireland where we meet a father and his son and get a glimpse into their life.
The narrator alternates between father and son and is mostly conversations and thoughts.
The story is basically based on the relationship between the son and the father and you do not get
much told from the past. However there is told, that the son has been in London, which is clear
because the father says he has not heard from his son for two years, and talks about reading about
London in the papers and seeing scenes from London on the news. We are also told that the father is a
widow which is clear when the father asks the questions Is it my ... Show more content on

The atmosphere is always pressured between the father and son and none of them sleeps at night. They
used to be close to talk, laugh and do a lot of things together among them, go fishing. Now the son is
very stuffy and shares nothing with his father, he doesn t tell him where he goes, not even when the
father asks. The son s anger and bad relationship with the father is obvious by his way of act, thinking
and talking to his father. He shouts and calls him a nosey old bastard and an old woman that cries
(page 116, line 10) (page 115, line 3 4). The father is calmer he loves his son very much but he is
worried and frustrated about his son. He miss the time when they could do anything together, he want
his son to talk to him the way he hear him talk to the people in the door, want to laugh with him and
know what he is thinking. One day after an ordinary quarrel the father would go up to apologize, when
he opens the door he sees his son pushing a gun under the pillow and when he asks what is his son

Work Opportunity Tax Credit Essay
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is an incentive that is profitable for companies using it
and helpful for the jobseekers that qualify for the tax credit. At the same time, it can also be a bad
incentive because companies that use the tax credits will try to target only those specific jobseekers
and will disqualify any other person. I work for a company that specializes in government tax
incentives, mainly with WOTC because it is the most popular throughout the states, but there are
many more similar to it. This tax credit allows companies and agencies to save money on their taxes
when they hire employees from nine specific groups such as long term family assistance recipients, ex
felons, qualified recipients of Supplemental Security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To fix this issue of having companies solely hiring those that fit in the targeted groups, the program
should make a maximum amount of tax credits per company depending on the size of the company.
For example, for every 50 new employees, the maximum to qualify for the tax credit should be 25 30,
allowing the rest of the jobseekers to be considered. Another way to improve the tax credit program
and eliminating any issues, is by not focusing on the WOTC questionnaires the agencies give to
potential jobseekers. The Human Resource department should look at qualifying individuals based on
skill and knowledge. After that phase, they can see who qualify for the targeted groups, allowing a fair
chance from the beginning. My approaches will help companies have an equally biased hiring process
and not having them take advantage of receiving tax credits through this incentive. The tax credit was
created for those that have difficulty getting hired, so by using my approach it will allow for those that
don t fit in the targeted groups as well. If companies were required to have a maximum per company,
they will be forced to hire an equal amount of diversified employees and preventing

The Radical Period of The French Revolution Essay
The Radical Period of The French Revolution
By the end of 1971, Europe was preparing to witness the end of a seemingly triumphant revolution in
France. The country was restructuring its government in a forceful and bloodless manner, while the
tyrant King
Louis the XVI agreed to the demands of the masses (albeit without much choice). However, due to the
fanatical aspirations of men such as Danton,
Marat and Robespierre,it would be only a matter of months before the moderate stage of social and
political reform was transformed into a radical phase of barbaric and violent force. In their quest for
freedom, equality and fraternity, the leaders of the Jacobins inadvertently turned the revolution into an
oligarchic dictatorship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moderate forces preferred to concentrate on the foreign affairs of new France, but the radicals insisted
on domestic stability first. Led by the popular
Danton and the merciless Marat, the Paris Commune discarded the old constitution and called for a
National Convention to begin work on a new, revised version.
The National Convention, divided by the moderate Girondins and the radical Jacobins, was the place
where the future of the country was to be eventually determined. It was the premise of the Jacobins
that they should eradicate the enemy within and secure the destiny of the revolution through the
destruction of counter revolutionary forces. They believed that by weeding out those who opposed the
revolution, they could achieve their goals quickly and efficiently. The Girondins were not so quick to
agree with the Jacobins, and so political deadlock begin to form in the
Convention. It was not until after the September massacres, when 1200 prisoners were executed
without trials, that Robespierre and his followers were able to justify their premise. They condemned
the actions of the unruly mobs that caused the deaths of innocent Frenchmen and demanded that the
Monarchy be abolished in order to eliminate as many of the royalists and monarchists that still
remained. It was Marat with his want 100,000 heads to fall speeches that convinced the masses that
those who were not in favour of the revolution had to be dealt with immediately

The Idea Of Mass Customisation
The Idea of Mass Customisation Over the last 25 years, it has become harder to satisfy customer
demand from inventory and thus making the cost of keeping inventory more expensive. This becomes
a problem as new products cannot be produced until the old products have been sold, usually at huge
discounts (Anderson, 2014). Therefore, many companies are forced to customize products, to some
degree, for increasingly selective customers or to compete in niche markets (Anderson, 2014).
However, introducing these customized products into a mass production manufacturing approach is
complex and creates high costs of variety. Cost of variety defined by McGraw Hill, 1997, includes the
actual costs of customizing or configuring products, all the set up ... Show more content on

al., 2001). Mass customisation refers to the ability to provide customized products or services through
flexible processes in high volumes (Silvera et.al., 2001) and at a cost near that of mass produced items
(Hart, 1995, Kay, 1993, Kotha, 1995, Ross, 1996, Joneja and Lee, 1998). Mass customization also
implies that the same large number of customers can be reached as in mass markets of the industrial
economy and simultaneously they can be treated individually as in the customised markets of
preindustrial economies. (Davis 1987:169) However, the implementation of mass customisation into
the current systems leads to the existence of two main challenges of time and cost (Eastwood, 1996),
which can be overcome by the following success factors. Customer demand for variety and
customization must exist (Silvera et. al., 2001). The demand for variety and customization will
determine how much customers are willing to pay and wait for delivery of most customized products
(Kotha, 1996, Hart, 1996). Since customization means the customer may gain an increment of a utility
from a product that better fits to his or her needs than the best standard product available (Chamberlin,
1962), there is an increased willingness of customers paying more for the customized product. Pine
(1993) has stated that customization increases customer satisfaction thus

Beethoven Biography Essay
Many questions go around about what day Ludwig Van Beethoven was born. Most do not know and
most likely will not ever know. They say that he was born a day or two before he was baptized on
December 17th, 1770. That was the beginning of one of the greatest musicians alive. Ludwig had two
younger brothers that had survived into adulthood. One was named Casper and the other was named
after their father Johann. His mother was a woman who stuck to her morals and his father was a man
who was a court singer, but he was more known for being an alcoholic than a musician. This is one of
the reasons Beethoven was closer with his mother rather than his father. Also, Beethoven s grandfather

Beethoven was seven and a half years old, but his father said he was six years old. This always made
Beethoven think he was younger than he actually was. Beethoven s father could only teach him so
much, though, so he went to go be taught by a professional musician named Gottlob Neefe. Neefe
noticed how talented Beethoven was, so he decided to not only teach him about music but about the
works of philosophers as well. As Beethoven grew, he created pieces of music that became very
popular. His first piece, published before the age of twelve, was Nine Variations of C Minor. After that
piece came out, his teacher wrote in a magazine article about him saying he s to be, The next Mozart if

about Beethoven s music and decided to send him to Vienna to go meet Mozart in 1787 so he could
further his music education. When Beethoven and Mozart met, Mozart was said to have spoken, Do
not forget his name! It will be spoken often! . Sadly, whilst Beethoven was in Vienna, he received a
letter saying that his mother was dying. She was the only person Beethoven had a strong relationship

His American boss thinks that this is fine but the Japanese boss says no because work will suffer . This

concern of the company, whereas the Japanese think that being part of a group is a must and so not
working because of your son going to the doctor is not something you should do, This brings us right
to collectivism. Collectivism is doing something not just for yourself but for the good of everyone
involved. It has nothing to do with the individual and everything to do with the overall group s
success. This is what the Japanese value highly. They always reinforce this throughout the movie
about how they will do whatever it takes for the company to do good. One of many examples of this is
when the Japanese show up to play the softball game. Before the game starts you see the Japanese
team working together and participating in a team warm up. The Americans make fun of this and think
of it as something that makes them weaker. When the game starts you are able to see exactly how this
hurts the Americans. The Japanese play a small ball game and worry about getting runners on base and
relying on everyone working together to get runs on the board. The Americans, who are less team
oriented, try to do everything themselves and try to hit the ball as far and hard as they can every time
they come up to bat.

Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an

composed of Families of Italian, German Jewish descent. Growing up we spent our weekends and
summers in the Bronx and Spanish Harlem, which allow my siblings and I to stay in touch with our
Afro Latino roots. Attending school on long Island in comparison to NY city schools, was a blessing

The Berlin Wall And The Cold War Essay
Perhaps the most visual reference to the Cold War was the Berlin Wall. Although this wall only existed
to divide Berlin into two sides, it became a physical representation of the Cold war for many and its
fall in 1989 has been regarded to many as the end of the Cold War.
I have always been interested in the background history behind the Berlin Wall. Since I started school
in the 80s and was in High School while the Cold War was winding down, I don t have a great
personal understanding of many of the events leading up to the Cold War, other than from history
classes and watching movies in school about it. I remember watching the movie Night Crossing in
middle school when we were studying about the Berlin Wall.
When I started looking for topics a few weeks ago I wanted to learn more about the Berlin Wall. I
have since realized that to study the history of the Berlin Wall in one semester is something that would
only allow me to skim through various sources and information, there is simply too much information
to learn and so much of it available that I have chosen to focus my research so far on the Fall of the
Berlin wall. The events of the mid to late 80s that changed the political atmosphere enough to bring
the wall down.
There are numerous Primary Sources available for this study, some I have looked at already are the

Enlightenment Guidance To Enlightenment
The Guidance to Enlightenment In Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse, the well respected son of a
Brahmin, named Siddhartha, departs from his fortunate lifestyle to seek enlightenment with his
childhood friend, Govinda. Along his path of enlightenment, Siddhartha s head becomes turned by the
many pleasures and temptations the world offers. He continuously evolves, living many different
lifestyles, such as that of a Samana, a wealthy man, and a Ferryman. Siddhartha shall overcome his
desires and discover the secret that will ultimately lead him to his own enlightenment. Through the
lessons and instructional techniques mentors may offer, Hermann Hesse illustrates Siddhartha s
interpretation of their teachings and how he integrates these teachings into his path to enlightenment.
Although he does not pay his allegiance to the Buddha and his doctrine, Siddhartha s encounter with
the Illustrious One allows him to still take away a lesson of greater value. Siddhartha acquires an
understanding of how the world allows all thing to correlate to one another, through the Buddha s
teachings and his explanation about salvation from suffering. When Siddhartha and Govinda, who still
seek a fitting path to enlightenment, gather together with pilgrims of Buddhism, they hear the
Illustrious One talk about suffering, the origin of suffering, the way to release from suffering. Life was

  • 2. A Brief Note On Security Tactics Adoption And A Security... IV. CRITICAL ANALYSIS Ryoo, J. et al. was successful in investigating the degree of security tactics adoption and clearly identified a security gap between the design and implementation of the software. The authors followed a manual process to study security vulnerabilities in open source software. Processes like code review or searching for security keywords in the documentation or source code does not prove if the software protects its users from malicious intrusions or leaking private data. The authors searched for keywords like security, authenticate, authorize, cipher, encrypt etc. in the source code of the selected 53 Open Source Software to see if any of these security tactics appear as file names or class names. This is not a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 900 social insurance numbers were stolen from Canadian Revenue Agency by exploiting the heartbleed bug. To identify such critical bugs, there has to be an automated testing framework that tests common programming errors, data leakage and other ways of malicious intrusions into the application. This paper is very limited to identifying the rate of usage of the security tactics in open source software. Well documented and implemented security policies are very important to maintain the quality and reliability of any software application. V. OUR CONTRIBUTION The following are some of our recommendations that should be considered when deploying or using any open source software. A. Notification Getting users to update to the lasted version of the application has been a long lasting issue with Open Source Software. The main reason for this was attributed to the lack of awareness about the security update. All the security patches to the application are pushed to consumers through such updates. Maintenance is very important to maintain the quality and reliability of the product. In the software industry updates are a form of maintenance. We suggest Open source software community to start notifying consumers about the update. This can done by assigning a unique identification for each of its users and mandatorily collecting their contact information. Subscribing users to the respective open source ... • 3. Experiences of World War One in All Quiet on the Western... Wars have always been events that I enjoy learning about, reading about and just discovering what went on. So when this project rolled around I had no problem choosing the novel All Quiet on the Western Front, which was written by Erich Maria Remarque. Erich had been a German soldier towards the end of WWI and had, first hand experienced the pure terror that is war. I had heard of this book through my father who is also a major war enthusiast. Him and I have had numerous conversations about both World War I and II, as he was the one that originally suggested I read this book. I have to say that it was a tremendous suggestion in that this novel to me seems to be one of the finest pieces of anti war literature ever penned. The way the novel is able to portray the mindset of a soldier was beautifully done and shows the complete deterioration that occurs over time. First to understand more about the novel and its author, Erich Maria Remarque, it would be helpful to learn about his life. Erich was born on June 22, 1898 (internet source 4) in the town of Osnabruck Germany. He was born into a poor family to his father, Peter Maria Kramer, and mother, Anna Marie Kramer (internet source 5). His father was a bookbinder while Erich was a kid (internet source 5). He also had 2 other siblings and his family as a whole moved at least 11 during his childhood. To say Erich had a turbulent childhood would be an understatement; he grew up in circumstances most people could not even begin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Prejudice and Racism in The Jewel in the Crown and Heart... Racism in The Jewel in the Crown and Heart of Darkness The effects of British colonialism are reflected in literature from both early modernism and post colonialism. Racial discrimination tainted both eras portrayed in the British morale of white supremacy over non European counties unfolded. Heart of Darkness exemplifies early modernism in the British explorers viewed African natives of the Congo as incapable of human equality due to perceived uncivilized savagery. Personal interaction between races was little to none, as the freshly conquered Africans were still viewed as alien. Likewise, Jewel in the Crown, exemplifies of post colonialism, echoes racism from the British Rule in India. Postcolonial literature evolved from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 383). Even though Hari is Indian, He was raised in England. After Hari followed his fathers dream to return to India excepted by the English . He instead learned the English value that an Indian an Englishmen could never meet on equal terms (Jc part 5:p.248). The white supremacy attitude of inequality based largely on skin color, effected where the interracial couple felt comfortable exploring the nature of human bonding. They finally felt confide to Biblighar, as no white man or white women would come into the gardens since the gardens always seemed to have a purely Indian connection (Jewel in the Crown, P. 379). The couple s restriction to be publicly shamed for a black and white couples restricted the emotion of Daphne s instinctual bond with Hari. Daphne expresses a similar kinship blind of race as Marlow s view as she affirms that a friendship between two human beings can t be limited in this way (JC.p.389). As the learned prejudice instilled in the both literary characters begin to dissolve, the theme resonates the questioning of British values in the exploration of human bonding. The British superior right of to conquer and rule over people indigenous of there own nation was questioned. The value could not hold true as some British people. The theme is evident as Marlow begins to feel compassion for the conquered African people, especially after experiencing loss due to the death of his African Helmsmen. The ... • 5. Supercontinental Formation The Earth goes through supercontinent episodes where a defined amalgamation and consequent rifting of continents is evident. One hypotheses defines a 250 m.y. periodicity in Phanerozoic sea level, orogeny, basin formation, climate and magmatic activity. Stages of the supercontinental cycle include global sea level regression accompanied by increased crustal compression, continental erosion and climatic deterioration followed by orogeny, granitoid magmatism and glaciation, and finally mafic magmatism, global transgression and climatic amelioration. Cyclic nature of Phanerozoic sedimentary rock distribution and material transfer among sedimentary reservoirs were controlled by tectonic factors. Episodic peaks in collisional orogenesis and rift related mafic dike swarms occur every 500 m.y. Crustal extension and formation of young ocean basins would first cause sea level to rise and then fall as floors of new ocean aged. Subduction of old oceanic lithosphere coupled with crustal shortening associated with orogenesis would cause sea level to rise again. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trends during supercontinent breakup include younging of world ocean floor through rifting and minimal collisional orogeny. Some supercontinent assembly trends include maximum accretionary and collisional orogeny and an increase in active margin sedimentation. All of the trends are caused by the continental lithosphere acting as a thermal insulator to mantle heat flow. Supercontinents would become epeirogenically uplifted as heat accumulated beneath them, initiating a rift and consequent supercontinent processes. • 6. Star Trek Myths Both Star Trek and Star Wars are historically popular film series and cinematic works of art. Although they may be works of fiction, the elements and symbols contained within them resemble historical fact. In these films, there are culturally inherited myths that are synonymous with the very roots of western civilization. In this essay, I will examine different examples of myth that are present in these films, what they mean, and offer an explanation for why they are significant. In order to help understand my thesis, the question may be asked, What is myth? In terms of this essay Myths are the instruments by which we continually struggle to make our experience intelligible to ourselves. A myth is a large, controlling image that gives philosophical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an example of Star Trek taking real events from the past and breathing life back into them by retelling them in a utopian future. In Star Trek s series Deep Space Nine, the planet of Bajor, and its inhabitants, the Bajorans are like the Hebrew people of Earth, They had a central religion that kept them hopeful but also made them seem inferior. Instead of the Holocaust it is called the occupation and it ends with the death of over 10 million people, often in camps. Even more so, the people commiting this genocide, the Cardassians, were bankrupt, and forced into wars for agricultural land, with the rise of a new fascist leader they began conquest. This closely mirrors The bankruptcy of Germany in the 1920 s and their agricultural crisis which led to the rise of the power of Adolf Hitler. With the help of Star Trek s United Nations, The united federation of planets The bajorans are able to regain their homeland and be freed from their camps and establish a weak government. Now this almost like a direct reflection of the events that took place in World War 2. It is very hard to talk about or in a way recreate such a horrifying atrocity without criticism, the only way Star Trek did so was because they put more emphasis on the good parts and the liberation, instead of the countless deaths of innocents. • 9. Tim O Brien s How To Tell A True War Story The Things They Carried is a book written by Tim O Brien. It features many different stories from many different people who fought or participated in the Vietnam War. There are two particular stories, How to Tell a True War Story and Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, that stand out because they use surrealism. Surrealism is the word to describe what most people may perceive as unreal . These stories use surrealism by creating elements in the story that almost sound impossible, but the author insists that they are true. Throughout the story, we are constantly asking what is real and not real. But, if we use examples from the book, it may be easier to define what is real and unreal. How to Tell a True War Story is one of these two stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They both follow the rules of a true war story, not having morals and not being an uplifting story, and they sound almost believable. Yet, another rule of telling a true war story is that the story must be unbelievable in order for it to be true. So, going by this logic, the stories in How to Tell a True War Story must all be untrue or greatly exaggerated, and the Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong is mostly true. The reason for why How to Tell a True War Story is not true is because that many of the stories, including the story of Curt Lemon and the signing mountains, are just too believable to be true war stories. Neither of them have a moral, one of the rules for a TRUE war story is that they must sound unbelievable, and these two stories are much too normal for them to be a true war story. Although the stories in the chapter How to Tell a True War Story may not be completely true, they could be a collection of exaggerated stories that the author Tim O Brien heard about while he was in Vietnam. Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong on the other hand, has all the elements of a true war story . It does not have an easily discernible moral, isn t uplifting, nor suggest model of proper human behavior, and is crazy enough to be true. Although some parts may be exaggerated for effect. Why Is Sugar Shack Johnny Novak SUGAR SHACK JOHNNY NOVAK JACK by Craig Fleming Joe Novak, aka Sugar Shack Johnny, aka Jack, was a complicated man, who lived a life that was in many ways, larger than life. He was a tough, intelligent, compassionate, and inarguably fearless man who was incredibly comfortable in his own skin. He is missed and remembered with a lot of love. Joe Novak had bigger balls than anyone I have ever known, and those big balls were securely connected to his big heart. It is impossible for me to perceive him as his adversaries did, way back then. He may have been unfairly stereotyped in the darkness of the countless pool halls he undoubtedly knew inside and out, because he had a fearless confidence about him, borne of circumstance and an irrepressible will to succeed. But most remarkably, there was a timeless light that emanated from his charisma. It can be seen that the end result of the Vietnam War tainted America s image through its failure to demolish the Vietnamese Communist Government . It should be noted that many years before America was directly involved with the war, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were under French colonial rule where the Việt Minh (the communist nationalist independence coalition) spent many years fighting for freedom from the French. In 1959 the Geneva Conference permitted the foremost powers to come to an agreement on Indochina which would temporarily divide Vietnam at the 17th parallel. Going forward, the country ... The Novel, The Sorrow of War: A Novel of North Vietnam, written by Bao Ninh, does not heavily emphasize the political position of the North solely, but tells the tale of a Vietnam soldier who has lived through war, who happens to be fighting for the North s cause. Kien, the main character, attempts to comfort both his personal and national losses through recounting experiences by compiling a memoir, while also exploring the causes of anguish behind the war. A recurring theme in the novel is the idea of people who fight in the war and people who become affected by the war both share a heavy burden of trauma and suffering. This now placed them in a position where they no longer had the cash flow to pay down their debt obligations, and with the reduction in profits they were also unable to reinvest in their company. This becomes a problem as new products cannot be produced until the old products have been sold, usually at huge discounts (Anderson, 2014). Therefore, many companies are forced to customize products, to some degree, for increasingly selective customers or to compete in niche markets (Anderson, 2014). However, introducing these customized products into a mass production manufacturing approach is complex and creates high costs of variety. Cost of variety defined by McGraw Hill, 1997, includes the actual costs of customizing or configuring products, all the set up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al., 2001). Mass customisation refers to the ability to provide customized products or services through flexible processes in high volumes (Silvera et.al., 2001) and at a cost near that of mass produced items (Hart, 1995, Kay, 1993, Kotha, 1995, Ross, 1996, Joneja and Lee, 1998). Mass customization also implies that the same large number of customers can be reached as in mass markets of the industrial economy and simultaneously they can be treated individually as in the customised markets of preindustrial economies. (Davis 1987:169) However, the implementation of mass customisation into the current systems leads to the existence of two main challenges of time and cost (Eastwood, 1996), which can be overcome by the following success factors. Customer demand for variety and customization must exist (Silvera et. al., 2001). The demand for variety and customization will determine how much customers are willing to pay and wait for delivery of most customized products (Kotha, 1996, Hart, 1996). Since customization means the customer may gain an increment of a utility from a product that better fits to his or her needs than the best standard product available (Chamberlin, 1962), there is an increased willingness of customers paying more for the customized product. Pine (1993) has stated that customization increases customer satisfaction thus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Beethoven Biography Essay Many questions go around about what day Ludwig Van Beethoven was born. Most do not know and most likely will not ever know. When March 28th 1778 rolled around, Beethoven performed for the first time in front of a crowd in Cologne. As Beethoven grew, he created pieces of music that became very popular. His first piece, published before the age of twelve, was Nine Variations of C Minor. After that piece came out, his teacher wrote in a magazine article about him saying he s to be, The next Mozart if he keeps his work up. Prince Maximillian Franz, who was the prince of Austria at the time, knew about Beethoven s music and decided to send him to Vienna to go meet Mozart in 1787 so he could further his music education. His American boss thinks that this is fine but the Japanese boss says no because work will suffer . This shows you how different countries see things. The Americans think of family concern over the concern of the company, whereas the Japanese think that being part of a group is a must and so not working because of your son going to the doctor is not something you should do, This brings us right to collectivism. Collectivism is doing something not just for yourself but for the good of everyone involved. It has nothing to do with the individual and everything to do with the overall group s success. This is what the Japanese value highly. They always reinforce this throughout the movie about how they will do whatever it takes for the company to do good. One of many examples of this is when the Japanese show up to play the softball game. Before the game starts you see the Japanese team working together and participating in a team warm up. The Americans make fun of this and think of it as something that makes them weaker. When the game starts you are able to see exactly how this hurts the Americans. The Japanese play a small ball game and worry about getting runners on base and relying on everyone working together to get runs on the board. The Americans, who are less team oriented, try to do everything themselves and try to hit the ball as far and hard as they can every time they come up to bat. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Teacher Identity And Identity Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual. Teacher identity implies both a cognitive psychological and sociological perspective: people develop their identity in interaction with other people, but they express their professional identity in perceptions of who they are and who they want to become as a result of this interaction. (Bejaard 2006). I come from a middle class family of six, with two parents with only a high school diploma. My father Immigrated to America in the early 1940 s from Puerto Rico, while my mom was born in the Bronx N.Y and is African American and Bajan decent. I was born in the Bronx in the early seventies, and raised in Suffolk County Long island during the early eighties. I grew up in a small community called Gordon Heights which is a predominantly African American Neighborhood in Coram NY. This small community was surrounded smaller towns in Suffolk county New York mainly composed of Families of Italian, German Jewish descent. Growing up we spent our weekends and summers in the Bronx and Spanish Harlem, which allow my siblings and I to stay in touch with our Afro Latino roots. Attending school on long Island in comparison to NY city schools, was a blessing of sorts because the quality of education was better. This is where I learned to develop relationships with people of all races, even though we were in the minority. Keeping in touch with our communities in Bronx Harlem, during my senior year in High School was able to join a program called The International Youth Leadership Institute, sponsored by Teachers College and Columbia University. Through this program, in which I was fortunate to be a part of, is where opportunity to travel outside the United States to Senegal, West Africa. This experience changed my life forever in which I now see the world through a different lens. At an early age in life, the elders of the family always taught us about the African history and what it means to be of the African Diaspora. I had a firsthand experience of visiting slave holding cells and seeing the door of no return In Goree Island, Senegal. Through this trip I was able to understand the effects of ... • 36. The Berlin Wall And The Cold War Essay Perhaps the most visual reference to the Cold War was the Berlin Wall. Although this wall only existed to divide Berlin into two sides, it became a physical representation of the Cold war for many and its fall in 1989 has been regarded to many as the end of the Cold War. I have always been interested in the background history behind the Berlin Wall. Since I started school in the 80s and was in High School while the Cold War was winding down, I don t have a great personal understanding of many of the events leading up to the Cold War, other than from history classes and watching movies in school about it. I remember watching the movie Night Crossing in middle school when we were studying about the Berlin Wall. When I started looking for topics a few weeks ago I wanted to learn more about the Berlin Wall. I have since realized that to study the history of the Berlin Wall in one semester is something that would only allow me to skim through various sources and information, there is simply too much information to learn and so much of it available that I have chosen to focus my research so far on the Fall of the Berlin wall. The events of the mid to late 80s that changed the political atmosphere enough to bring the wall down. There are numerous Primary Sources available for this study, some I have looked at already are the 1987 Reagan speech at the Brandenburg gate in Berlin, from which the famous Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! quote was heard.
