Dow Cole (The Best Of Me)
Dawson Cole (The Best of Me) The Best of Me starts with Dawson as an adult, however it gives an
abundant amount of information on his teenage years through multiple flashbacks. These flashbacks
inform the viewer of the rough life that he endured up until the day he left his abusive father, and
breaks into this garage where he meets the man that changes his life, Tuck. Through his hard times
and his good times, he met the girl he came to love, Amanda. Dawson Cole teaches the audience how
to make the best things come from a rough life, from finding an amazing father figure, to finding the
love of a lifetime. When the movie shows Dawson as an adult, he is shown in muscle tanks, flannels,
or just a regular old t shirt. He is also typically seen in jeans. Dawson has short dark brown hair, and
basically a five o clock shadow across his face. When the movie goes through flashbacks and shows
him as a teenager he is typically seen in a t shirt and hoodie with a pair of jeans. As a teen Dawson had
longish brown hair, just past his ears. His appearance going from his teenage years to adult life really
didn t change which kind of lets the reader know that as a person Dawson s morals and the way he
lives have basically stayed the same. Dawson grew up and lived his life in South Carolina. As a child
and a teenager, he had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Their Eyes Were Watching God
Division: Janie Crawford in Their Eyes Were Watching God
Their Eyes Were Watching God was written in 1937 by Zora Neale Hurston. This story follows a
young girl by the name of Janie Crawford. Janie Crawford lived with her grandmother in Eatonville,
Florida. Janie was 16 Years old when her grandmother caught her kissing a boy out in the yard. After
seeing this her grandmother told her she was old enough to get married, and tells her she has found her
a husband by the name of Logan. Logan was a much, much older man. This book later follows Janie
through two more marriages to Jody Starks, and Tea Cake. All three marriages extremely different
from one another, along with Janie s role in each marriage. Janie always had her own individual
personality, her true self, but she also had an outer personality, the person she would pretend to be for
each of her husbands. The Book took us through a journey of each of these marriages and through the
journey of Janie finding herself.
In the first marriage Janie was a 16 year old girl who was forced into marriage with a man in his 50 s.
She lives with Logan on his potato farm, where Logan is very set in his ways and does not care what
Janie has to say or think. Being that Janie is only 16years old she allows her outer personality to
submit to whatever Logan wants even though her inner self, her true self is miserable. She believed
that because they were married that just being married would bring love. So she continues to submit to

How To Make Beets
Beets can turn both your poop and your urine red. This usually occurs between 12 and 24 hours after
consuming the beets, depending on the amount of fiber and water in your digestive tract. Eating beets
can tell you your transit time if you pay attention to the time. Your transit time can tell you if you are
constipated or regular. THE BEET TEST pay attention to the time when you eat raw or roasted beets,
then wait for them to be eliminated. Most people who are regular illuminate the beets 12 to 24 hours
later. If it takes longer it s a strong indication that you re constipated and you need to add fiber and
water to your diet. Adding fiber and water will begin to speed up your transit time to normal so that
the food is not fermenting in your gut. Some good fiber to try: ... Show more content on

such as broccoli, beets, and Brussels sprouts etc. If you are not used to eating fiber increase it slowly
to allow your stomach to adjust. Also increase your water intake or your stool will be be hard and dry
making it uncomfortable to eliminate. When you do eliminate the beets, your poop and sometimes and
your urine will be red. If it happens in less than 12 hours there s a good chance you re not chewing
enough or you are swallowing your food too fast. When this happens your stool will have particles of
undigested beets. This can also happen when you have too many stimulants in your diet. If so you are
not absorbing all the nutrients in the food you are consuming. When doing the beet test do not use
pickled or boiled or canned beets, the pigment will not be evident enough. Another helpful strategy to
speed up your digestive system is to have lemon water first thing in the morning, on an empty

Ancient Greece And Ancient Roman Empires Essay
In today s time people always say that everything that seems to be new is just really something remade
from the past. Throughout time and space works of art and literature spread around and are adapted to
what a certain culture needs. This glocalizing means taking the original form and manipulating it so it
can best fit the audience in which is viewing it. Whether it be translating something from one
language to another or even completely changing something that was intended for adults so it could be
easy for children to learn. Similarly, in the transition between the Ancient Greece and Ancient Roman
Empires so many aspects of the Grecian culture is adapted by the Romans but they glocalize it in
order to get more Romans on board with what the Greeks thought of. Even the Ancient Roman writer
and philosopher Seneca glocalized Euripides play Hippolytus. Despite the five hundred year time
difference between Euripides Hippolytus and Seneca s Phaedra, Seneca makes his best attempt to
copy the play but including aspects of the Roman culture he lived in. The culture gap between Ancient
Greece and Rome ultimately affects how the readers perceive the story and how different the two tales
actually are. Between 30 and 40 C.E. Seneca s writing started becoming increasingly popular
throughout the Roman Empire. On the other hand, many people did not support his philosophical
ideas such as stoicism. Seneca s stoic philosophy is defined as a philosophy that flourished in ancient

Essay on Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse
Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse
In Dubliners and To the Lighthouse, James Joyce and Virginia Woolf explore the depressing results of
lives devoid of growth or meaning versus those who dare to live their lives in spite of all strife and
adversity. Joyce and Woolf are both concerned with the meaninglessness of stagnant lives, the first
operating in pre WWI Ireland, the second in England during and after the war. The Dead and To the
Lighthouse both reveal the despair of lives that occupy but do not fill the short span of time between
birth and inevitable death.
With The Dead , Joyce brings his lament for Ireland s plight to its depressing yet strangely peaceful
conclusion. Like all the previous stories in Dubliners, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the dinner table, the party begins to discuss the greatest legitimate opera (209) singers of the past
and present. Soon the reader must realize that all these celebrated figures are either long since dead, or
living singers who are so obscure that only a single person has ever heard of them. It seems that the
present society is totally devoid of all beauty, for the glory of the past is lost, and the buds and timid
blooms of the present are fatally obscured.
Yet still these people gather yearly around the massive banquet table to engage again and again in the
same sort of conversation, as Gabriel himself notes:
But yet, continued Gabriel, his voice falling into a softer inflection, there are always in gatherings
such as this sadder thoughts that will recur to our minds: thoughts of the past, of youth, of changes, of
absent faces that we miss here to night. Our path through life is strewn with many such sad memories:
and were we to brood upon them always we could not find the heart to go on bravely with our work
among the living. We have all of us living duties and living affections which claim, and rightly claim,
our strenuous endeavors. (214)
Gabriel s speech to the assembled party is in quite a strange tone. Like many other characters in
Dubliners, these people are preoccupied with thoughts of those who have not lasted another
Christmas. With his talk of our work among the

products, are animal testing. In this case, numerous animals are tested in the experiment. However, in
laboratory tests, animal experiments still have defects that need to be solved. Additionally, the animal
testing is a defective method, but it still widely used in normal life, which is utilized to get the result
of new medicines and feedback of cosmetic products. On this basis, a number of people have started
to consider whether it is inhumane to test on animal, however other people believe this is effective for
creating new medicine to heal miscellaneous diseases. This essay will discuss some advantages and
disadvantages of the animal testing. Nevertheless, most of new medicines which are created still need
testing on animal. Research done by Garattiui and Grigusschi (2017) displayed that when science and
technology has not yet reached a certain level of advanced conditions, animal experiments are still the
main approach to find out the solution of diseases in treatments. There are plenty of benefits about
using animal testing to test new medicines and cosmetic products. The main advantage of animal
testing to test medicine is that it can carry out more experiments in shorter time. This is because of
most of growing up period animal is shorter than human. Ostergaard et al. (2010) indicated that when

Janet Reimer gave birth to identical twins, Bruce and Brian. During a circumcision, Bruce penis was
badly severed and could not be repaired surgically. The penis was severed by an electric burning

of Dr. John Money. Dr. John Money was the only one that seemed as if he had the answers the family
wanted to hear. He convinced the family that Bruce could be raised as a girl by having reconstructive

him as a girl, then he will begin to believe he was a female. The family believed what Dr. John Money
said and agreed to the reconstructive surgery. Dr. John Money also told the family they were never to
tell anyone of the surgery. Janet Reimer raised Bruce as a girl named Brenda and kept his sexuality a

Organizational Concepts And Cultural Context
III. Organizational Examples: Both institutional context and cultural context have positive and
negative aspects to HRM design in companies. HR staff in Hyundai, the second biggest car
manufacturer in India, faced with law and policy problems. In May 2010, employees went on strike
after the organization sacked and did not reinstate 35 employees due to alleged behaviour (Kramer and
Syed, 2012). In addition, this was the third time that local workers had struggled against the company
because of dismissing employees. Moreover, not only Hyundai was a victim of workers mutiny but

It is a true that the state limits the role of the company and HR department because only the
government has a right to resolve any dispute between employers and employees. While workers have
the right to complain or contest the company, the employer s refutation only has a value after
judgement by the state. Similarly, Nestle, a Swiss multinational organization with nearly 250,000
employees and more than 300 global factories faced with the same problem in Philippines when the
strike of the union in 1982 was the beginning of struggle between workers and company later on
(Selmer De Leon). The reason of the conflict was the cultural misunderstanding between Nestle Group
and Filipino workers. In detail, after a rapid period in 1970, Nestle forced employees to overwork,
which made them do not have enough time for families. Besides, the organization tried to adapt to
Western core values such as individualism and result oriented that appealed to local workers. In fact,
two core values of Filipino in communication are Pagsangguni and Paghihikayat (Selmer De Leon,

second one means to convince which displays the cause why Filipinos wanted to be persuaded by

Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Fission
How Nuclear Fission produces Nuclear Bombs and Energy
KABOOOOM! That was the sound of the two atomic bombs the United States of America dropped on
the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War 2. These two bombs were the main reason the
Japanese surrendered, which led to the end of the war. The bomb at Hiroshima had a death toll of
135,000 and Nagasaki s death toll was 64,000 ( The Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ).
So how are these destructive bombs made? They are made by nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is when
an atom splits into two parts, either through natural decay of when instigated within a lab and it
produces energy. The natural decay is done through beta decay and blasting neutrons at the nuclear of

Nuclear power also has a lot fewer greenhouse emissions. It has been determined that the amount of
greenhouse gases have decreased by almost half because of the prevalence in the utilization of nuclear

So, nuclear power is the cheapest source of electricity and produces the smallest amount of pollution
than any other source of energy. But there s even more pros about nuclear energy. It is the most
reliable source of energy. Solar energy is only good in sunny places, wind energy is only good in

The Crucible And The Red Scare Analysis
Have you ever been accused of something? So to keep from getting into deep trouble you quickly
exclaim you saw so and so do this . Suddenly, you re put on a back burner, as this new evidence is
looked into. This is what happened back in the 1940 s. People in the U.S. were scared by Joseph
McCarthy on the sudden rise in communism in other areas of the world, the closest being the Soviet
Union. The Scare inspired Arthur Miller to write his play. The Crucible is an allegory for the Red
Scare. Arthur Miller wrote the play to show people that the craziness of the witch hunts were
extremely similar to the communist hunts, and to show the dangers of being quick to accuse others to
avoid consequences.
Fear can be a person s strongest, or weakest, part of how we react to things considered threatening.
McCarthy used people s fear to gain power, he gained a lot by claiming that people in high
government positions were conversing with a formidable enemy. In one of his speeches, McCarthy
held up a piece of paper, claiming it listed 224 names of Americans that had ties with communists.
Although this list was never shown to anyone but McCarthy, no one tried to get the accused people
freed from their charges of treason. The reason for this was that anyone who questioned the truth, or
anyone who knew the truth and tried to get it public, was accused of communism and taken care of .

My Grandparents
As a child, I was raised in an uppity, wealthy family. I was the child of the family failure. My
Grandparents raised me. I was the child of the youngest and most enabled of the 11 kids my
grandparents had. My father was a meth addict and my mother was selfish who was more concerned
with her image and social life than her children. My grandmother loved me because she had children
one after the other. By the time she was a master parent, all of her children had left the nest. With
empty nest syndrome, she was all too happy to accept her name sake into her life and raise a little girl
that was did not include an army of screaming children on top of the small infant she was handed. My
grandmother never realized the amount of favoritism she displayed caused me a terrible childhood by
my relatives. I was abused verbally and physically due to jealousy of her adult children and her other
grandchildren just followed the example. My father, due to his drug addiction was not respected or
treated as a parent. He was not allowed an opinion, at all. They began to make claims that were false,
including an opinion I had mental health issues. One of my uncles had adopted a son with his previous
wife and had been raising him fine until his divorce to my previous aunt due to his adultery with my

Essay about Economics Question and Answers
Chapter 1: The Power of Markets
What are the two basic assumptions that economists make about individuals and firms?
Economists have two basic assumptions which keeps the economy in check. One is that people try to
make themselves as versatile as possible maximizing their overall potential. The other is that a firm
would do what it needs to make the most profit possible.
What is the role and significance of prices in the market economy? Prices in a market economy are
very important. Price allows us to give out goods appropriately to those who are able to pay.

Chapter 4: Government and the Economy II
What are the main reasons why government should take only a limited role in a market economy?
There are many reasons why government should have a light touch in market economies. Some
government programs may be to costly and in the end backfire if not planned through thoroughly or
may of even been thought up by corrupt politicians. The government also makes the struggle as a poor
family harder to bare as taxes are more often then not, in the government, in favor of keeping the
money where it is.
Chapter 5: Economics of Information
Basic economic models assume that all parties have perfect information. How does informational
asymmetry undermine our market economy?
Information asymmetry is great for some and awful for others. It also leads to rational and irrational
discrimination. For example, it could lead to hiring a male over female, a Caucasian over African
American, and other discriminatory decisions, in these cases are understandable.(Women have
maternity leave; African Americans are 28% more likely to of gone to jail.)

Abstract
This study presents a power management system (PMS) for a hybrid renewable energy system
(HRES) using hydrogen as an energy vector. The fuzzy control system takes into account the
uncertainties of the load demand and the power production from renewable energy sources (RES). The
fuzzy control system evaluated differs of the traditional PMSs, as it considers a single level prediction

The Simpsons Tuesdays With Morrie
The writers both have incorporated ideas from the novel Tuesdays with Morrie in the shows. In the
Simpsons Homers dad Abie has become sort of like Morrie, he tells a writer his stories who then
creates articles and posts them in the newspaper. Just like Morrie many have taken a liking to his
experiences. In The Middle Mike s father in law has read Tuesdays with Morrie and has been inspired
by the book. He decides that he wants to tell Mike his stories, and have his own Tuesday sessions. I
know they are referencing the novel because in the Simpsons the episode is called Thursdays with
Abie, and the writer wants to make a book of Abies stories, after killing him. It s sort of the same idea
as the novel, but they have added their own humorous

Opposing Views On Life After Death
Introduction:
Ultimate Questions are questions that cannot be answered or explained scientifically. An example of
one is Is There Life After Death , which will be explored. Different religions and cultures believe that
different things happen after we die. Humans prepare for the future all their lives, yet meet the next
life totally unprepared. This is a quote by the Tibetan Master, Drakpa Gylsten. This quote suggests that
humans are rebirthed, and have new lives after death. Buddhists and Christians have a somewhat
contrasting view on life after death. Christians believe that humans do not live only one life, but two.
Catholics believe in a place called purgatory, where people whom have un confessed sins go
temporarily, until clean enough to enter heaven. Buddhists believe in karma and rebirth. Religions
have opposing views on the topic of life after death, all which vary greatly.

What happens to your soul after you die?
Many people wonder what happens to your soul after you die and there are many possibilities.
Buddhists believe that you could enter six different realms, or be rebirthed and Christians believe that
depending on your faithfulness to God, after death one either enters into heaven or hell.

Rhetorical Devices In V For Vendetta
Michelle Azzata Sabrina Ladd English 101 March 8, 2015 V for Vengeance Through his graphic
novel, V for Vendetta, Alan Moore raises thought on how powerful dissent is, freedom, and most of all
the desire for revenge. Vengeance, the strive for freedom, and opposition were not only apparent
themes throughout, but drove all of the action for the main character, V. We learn while reading this
graphic novel the rationale condoning of violence for both personal and societal revenge and freedom.
Using the symbol V as both a letter and the number 5, this narrative,V for Vendetta, uses rhetorical
means to reflect on London in the late 20th century by displaying V s role as a freedom fighting
terrorist and an avenging hero. In the novel, V most certainly makes clear his disunity with the

Twenty five gram of Nigella sativa L. seeds (black cumin) was macerated with a mill and they were
immersed in 50 ml of methanol overnight twice. After filtration, the supernatant was diluted and
adjusted to a 10% methanol aqueous solution with water purified by the Milli Q system. The diluted
solution was subjected to chromatography in a column packed with 2 g of Porapak Q resin (porous
polymer resin). The adsorbed compounds were eluted with 300 ml of a mixture of pentane and diethyl

available and identification could only be made on the basis of MS data.
Percent peak areas were calculated by dividing the peak area for a particular peak by the total peak
area for the entire chromatogram on GC chromatogram with FID and expressed as a percentage.
Gas Chromatography Olfactometry (GC O)
GC O was conducted in a column of 60 m x 0.53 mm i.d. (1 µm film) coated with DB WAX (J W
Scientific) in the split less mode. The GC instrument and temperature conditions were the same as
those used for the GC analysis. Helium was employed as the carrier gas at a flow rate of 8.3 ml/min.
After 1 µl of the aroma concentrate had been injected into the column in the split less mode, the
carrier gas was split 1:1 at the outlet of the column and passed through the FID detector and a glass
sniffing port at 220oC. Wet air was pumped into the sniffing port at 45 ml/min to quickly remove the
odorant and keep the nose moist.
Results and Discussion
Characterizing the volatile components of N. sativa seeds essential oil is necessary to understand its
role in food flavor and its potential applications in the fields of medicine. The approximate yield of the
volatile flavor concentrates obtained from 25 g of N. sativa seeds was 0.28 g (1.1%) and 0.06 g
(0.24%) from Bangladesh and Indian seeds, respectively.

The Law Of Selective Incorporation
1. The concept of selective incorporation according to We the People, was a progression by which
different securities in the Bill of Rights were incorporated into the Fourteenth Amendment. In 1937
the courts were still unwilling to defend civil freedoms beyond the First Amendment. The first case
that established selective incorporation was Palko v. Connecticut. The courts determined that the
provisions of the Bill of Rights should be selectively combined and useful as a constraint on the states
by the Fourteenth Amendment (Ginsberg et al. 117). Gideon v. Wainwright established the right to
counsel during criminal courts . The Miranda v. Arizona likewise established the right to counsel and
remain silent The incorporation that gained a lot of nationwide attention is McDonald v. Chicago
where the right to bear arms was granted (Ginsberg et al. 118). This incorporation has paved the way
for several national cities to pass gun laws. 2. The rights of the accused is based upon the Fourth,
Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendment that creates the Due Process of Law (Ginsberg et al. 133). These
laws protect accused criminals by engaging limitations on the governments against the liberty and
freedom of the accused . However under the search and seize it prohibits evidence from being
submitted in court that was seized during an illegal search (Ginsberg et al. 134). The exclusionary was

European Exploration Dbq Essay
While documents written by explorers may state that their voyages were done in the name of God,
religion was not the main motive for European exploration. Other motives included the European
economy and new developments in technology.
The European economy was the primary motive for European explorers to voyage and conquer the
unknowns.
In the words of David Arnold, gold, jewels, silks, carpets, spices, and porcelain suggested luxury,
wealth, skilled artisans and thriving craft industries, and it was this image of Africa and Asia s riches
that helped inspire the first European voyages of discovery (Arnold 11). Europe could essentially see

In the course of the fifteenth century, the Portuguese developed the caravel, a small, light, three
masted sailing ship. Though somewhat slower than the galley, the caravel held more cargo and was
highly maneuverable. When fitted with a cannon, it could dominate larger vessels, such as the round
ships commonly used in commerce (Buckler 501 502). With the caravel, the Portuguese had the
advantage over other ships in trade and were able to reach new parts of the world. The utilization of
cannons and their compatibility with ships also gave Europeans a distinct advantage at sea. Although
cannons posed serious technical difficulties for land warfare, they could be used at sea. The mounting
of cannon on ships and improved techniques of shipbuilding gave impetus to European expansion
(Buckler 501). The use of cannons eliminated many of the dangers that explorers without cannons
might have, such as pirates or warships of hostile countries. But the technological advancements used
in European exploration expanded far beyond weaponry. Instruments such as the compass and the
nocturnal were essential in voyages. In fact, Christopher Columbus s successful thirty three day
voyage to the Caribbean owed a great deal to his seamanship and his knowledge and skillful use of
instruments (Buckler 506). Even skilled sailors like Columbus needed the advancements in technology

Personal Statement For Marine Biology
Personal Statement
Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most. Not
just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to
interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit
to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open minded and
passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They
always stress how sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes
sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the
long run.
The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology
degree is a fifth grader s dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For
example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing
coral reefs to die out which houses thousands of organisms homes and food sources. Due to the
contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day.
Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible conditions.
Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the
way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage

Task 2
Year round schooling is better than traditional schooling because, the summer retention is much
higher, special education and english language learners benefit much more, end of the year test scores
are higher and the year round school calendar fits our culture more now than it used to with the
traditional school year.
As an education major with a focus in special education, I was trying to figure out what to write and
research for this paper. Starting to look at the the topics list at the bottom was the topic Year Round
Schools. Looking at that and realizing, that sounded like a silly idea when I was a student, why would
I not want a longer summer break. However as I am an educator myself now and realize that a one or
two week break every other month sounds a like terrific idea. Then after researching the topic I
learned that not only is the schedule different but they re many more benefits to year round schools
than their traditional counterparts. Year round school research shows that their children have better
end of the year test scores. They also show that English language learner children and Special
Education children learn at a faster pace than the children at traditional schools with the same
programs. Also the summer break retention rate of what the children learn throughout the year and

Epic Poetry and Beowulf Pg
Epic poems have a unique set of characteristics that distinguish them from just an ordinary poem. An
epic poem must contain a hero that is male, noble, and of importance to society who gives long formal

afterlife, and the concept of fate. Before entering the dragons tower Beowulf tells his followers that he
will fight until fate decides which of us [he or the dragon] wins (Beowulf pg. 53). Fate is only a belief
in Pagan religion; Christians don t believe in a predetermined destiny. When Beowulf is fighting the
dragon and he begins to sense defeat he reflects on a journey into darkness that all men must make, as
death ends their few brief hours on earth. (Beowulf pg.54). This journey into darkness alerts the reader
that Beowulf believes that his only life is here on earth and will venture on to darkness with no
afterlife. Christians believe that there is a life after death in heaven as opposed to Pagans who believe
in death as an end of existence.
Scattered in the poem the reader can find literary devices including stock epithets, kennings,
alliteration, allusions, hyperbole, and imagery. Stock epithets are adjectives that point out a special
trait of a character. One example of a stock epithet can be found in line 324 of Beowulf when Grendel
is described as being a sin stained demon (Beowulf pg. 42). A kenning is a poetic synonym found in
Germanic poems as seen when Beowulf is called the noble protector of all seamen (Beowulf pg.50).
Alliteration is the repetition of

War Pacifism
The question of whether war is justified or not has been debated through time. There is the side that
war is not justified since humanity ultimately gets hurt by war. The other side is that war is justified
because in it humane to have issues and the only way to solve some issues for the better of the world
is to have a war. Thomas Aquinas and George Orwell believe that people can justify offensive warfare,
but Mo Tzu is in opposition of war. War can either be seen as it is self defense and justifiable, or that it
is never justifiable to hurt one another. Thomas Aquinas wrote Summa Theologica , a summary of
theology that discusses what makes a war become justified. George Orwell was a considered socialist
and political liberal, who was also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The weakness of pacifism greatly outweighs the strengths of pacifism because pacifism in war does
not solve any real problems. (Topic) People have to realize that no matter what, people are going to be
in some way fighting one another. (Point) George Orwell in Pacifism and the War wrote about how
pacifism is ignorance because the idea that you can somehow remain aloof from and superior to the
struggle, while living on food which British sailors have to risk their lives to bring you, is a bourgeois
illusion bred of money and security (Orwell 509). (Evidence) People have to be completely ignorant
to be living off of what has been provided to them by fighting, because they don t realize that they
wouldn t have all they do without the wars going on. (Explanation 1) People have to be fighting in
some sort of way to obtain the freedom and utilities for all. The world does not have an unlimited
amount of what is needed, and so we must fight for our resources. (Explanation 2) An educated person
would be able to realize this and be able to pick a side that would benefit them, because war is
unavoidable and therefore justified. George Orwell correctly describes how joining in on a war effort
is better than disregarding the responsibility that people have to solve issues. (Explanation 3) Being a
pacifist does not make the war any more justifiable, it just ignores it.

Analysis Of Seated Nude By Aristide Maillol
Throughout history we see many things reused or repeated. This is true in art, many artworks use
influences of previous artists and or styles for their work. The reuse of old ideas is present in many
artworks to date. One piece created in the last century is Seated Nude by Aristide Maillol which was
created in 1902. By using his experiences in France and his travels around Europe, Maillol
experienced many different cultures. With the presence of past cultural artifacts in our as influences in
Europe even today we see evidence of many past cultures. Classical Greek Art is one that is very
present even today. Seated Nude specifically shows Maillol s admiration of the Mediterranean with its
influences in Greek Classical Art. By the use of naturalistic and organic feature while highlighting
realism and humanism, Maillol shows Classical constructs through his piece.
Seated Nude is a terracotta sculpture on a black marble base. Housed at the Museum of Modern art it
stands 6 long 8 1/8 tall and 3 ½ wide. The piece features a woman seated on a ground with her right
arm extended back propping her up. Her other arm is bent and behind her head. The left leg is bent in
an inverted V with her foot on the ground. The right leg is bent lying flat on the ground and going in
between the V of her other leg. Her face, hair, hands, and feet are not heavily detailed; however her
features are clearly defined. The hair is pulled back with rounded hair in a circle around her head,

Espn Executive Summary
Sales departments and their structures differ amongst different organizations. Considering that ESPN
is encompassed under the service industry, its dynamics are considerably more complex. With that, the
ESPN salesforce dimensions focus more on quality over quantity. Specifically, ESPN s reputability
proves the focus on a qualified salesforce. ESPN s qualified salesforce is best identified through their
sales department size, recruitment process, and individual qualities.
ESPN has many different departments, which handle four hundred affiliates. Amongst each affiliate,
there is an estimate of five to ten salespeople from ESPN that handle sales. Thus, there are
approximately four thousand salespeople under ESPN s sales department. Unlike its competitors like
CBS and/or Fox, ESPN s employee rate of turnover is considerably low at an estimated ten to twenty
percent annually. Their department is highly motivated, and offers various incentives. Thus, the
salesforce at ESPN are highly motivated and inclined to stay with the company for a prolonged period.

The preferred way of adding to the sales force is through industry referrals. Through such referrals,
ESPN can have access to experienced, reliable, and suitable candidates with relevant industry
experience. The selection of the interviewees is based on two selective criterion: First, the candidate
must have a college degree and/or related industry experience, which can be determined through
resume mining. Resume mining is a process that employers endure while selecting candidates through
the use of key words, which associate with their job qualifications. Next, the candidate must have
reliable and credible referrals on their applications. This measure ensures that ESPN has a trusted and
responsible candidate, which can be verified. If these two measures are fulfilled, the candidate

Man s Inhumanity to Man Essay
Man s inhumanity to man is a phrase that was first written down by the poet Robert Burns in his poem
titled Man was made to mourn: A Dirge in 1784. Many and sharp the num rous ills Inwoven with our
frame! More pointed still we make ourselves Regret, remorse, and shame! And man, whose heav n
erected face The smiles of love adorn, Man s inhumanity to man Makes countless thousands mourn!
This phrase has been displayed throughout history including in the times in which the book To Kill a
Mockingbird was written. The two main examples of this include the tragedy of the Jews in World
War II and the African American s during the slave trade, and throughout time. The phrase man s

One of the ironic situation in this book takes place when Scout is in school during their current events.
The topic of the how Hitler was treating the Jews came was read from a newspaper article. In rebuttal,
the teacher, Miss Gates, proudly declares that Germany is a Dictatorship, whereas the United States is
a Democracy where supposedly no one is persecuted, Equal rights for all, special privileges for none.
The irony is that Tom Robinson was killed not long ago, he was declared guilty, all because he was
African American. Miss Gates proudly states, Persecution comes from people who are prejudice.
Prejudice, there are no better people in the world than the Jews, and why Hitler doesn t think so is a
mystery to me. Yet it s not a mystery to the people of Maycomb country why African Americans aren t
the best people in the world. Inhumanity among men is an ongoing theme not only in the book To Kill
a Mockingbird but also throughout history, even today. The United States has come a long way,
though. In 1955 people persecuted an African American for sitting in the front of a bus and refusing to
move, now we have an African American president sitting in the presidential limousine. Today people
are prejudice against religion and religious

Dow Cole (The Best Of Me) Dawson Cole (The Best of Me) The Best of Me starts with Dawson as an adult, however it gives an abundant amount of information on his teenage years through multiple flashbacks. These flashbacks inform the viewer of the rough life that he endured up until the day he left his abusive father, and breaks into this garage where he meets the man that changes his life, Tuck. Through his hard times and his good times, he met the girl he came to love, Amanda. Dawson Cole teaches the audience how to make the best things come from a rough life, from finding an amazing father figure, to finding the love of a lifetime. When the movie shows Dawson as an adult, he is shown in muscle tanks, flannels, or just a regular old t shirt. He is also typically seen in jeans. • 6. Ancient Greece And Ancient Roman Empires Essay In today s time people always say that everything that seems to be new is just really something remade from the past. Throughout time and space works of art and literature spread around and are adapted to what a certain culture needs. This glocalizing means taking the original form and manipulating it so it can best fit the audience in which is viewing it. Whether it be translating something from one language to another or even completely changing something that was intended for adults so it could be easy for children to learn. Similarly, in the transition between the Ancient Greece and Ancient Roman Empires so many aspects of the Grecian culture is adapted by the Romans but they glocalize it in order to get more Romans on board with what the Greeks thought of. Even the Ancient Roman writer and philosopher Seneca glocalized Euripides play Hippolytus. Despite the five hundred year time difference between Euripides Hippolytus and Seneca s Phaedra, Seneca makes his best attempt to copy the play but including aspects of the Roman culture he lived in. The culture gap between Ancient Greece and Rome ultimately affects how the readers perceive the story and how different the two tales actually are. Between 30 and 40 C.E. Seneca s writing started becoming increasingly popular throughout the Roman Empire. On the other hand, many people did not support his philosophical ideas such as stoicism. Essay on Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse In Dubliners and To the Lighthouse, James Joyce and Virginia Woolf explore the depressing results of lives devoid of growth or meaning versus those who dare to live their lives in spite of all strife and adversity. Joyce and Woolf are both concerned with the meaninglessness of stagnant lives, the first operating in pre WWI Ireland, the second in England during and after the war. The Dead and To the Lighthouse both reveal the despair of lives that occupy but do not fill the short span of time between birth and inevitable death. With The Dead , Joyce brings his lament for Ireland s plight to its depressing yet strangely peaceful conclusion. Like all the previous stories in Dubliners, ... Soon the reader must realize that all these celebrated figures are either long since dead, or living singers who are so obscure that only a single person has ever heard of them. It seems that the present society is totally devoid of all beauty, for the glory of the past is lost, and the buds and timid blooms of the present are fatally obscured. Yet still these people gather yearly around the massive banquet table to engage again and again in the same sort of conversation, as Gabriel himself notes: But yet, continued Gabriel, his voice falling into a softer inflection, there are always in gatherings such as this sadder thoughts that will recur to our minds: thoughts of the past, of youth, of changes, of absent faces that we miss here to night. Our path through life is strewn with many such sad memories: and were we to brood upon them always we could not find the heart to go on bravely with our work among the living. We have all of us living duties and living affections which claim, and rightly claim, our strenuous endeavors. (214) Gabriel s speech to the assembled party is in quite a strange tone. Similarly, Nestle, a Swiss multinational organization with nearly 250,000 employees and more than 300 global factories faced with the same problem in Philippines when the strike of the union in 1982 was the beginning of struggle between workers and company later on (Selmer De Leon). Suddenly, you re put on a back burner, as this new evidence is looked into. This is what happened back in the 1940 s. People in the U.S. were scared by Joseph McCarthy on the sudden rise in communism in other areas of the world, the closest being the Soviet Union. The Scare inspired Arthur Miller to write his play. The Crucible is an allegory for the Red Scare. Arthur Miller wrote the play to show people that the craziness of the witch hunts were extremely similar to the communist hunts, and to show the dangers of being quick to accuse others to avoid consequences. Fear can be a person s strongest, or weakest, part of how we react to things considered threatening. McCarthy used people s fear to gain power, he gained a lot by claiming that people in high government positions were conversing with a formidable enemy. In one of his speeches, McCarthy held up a piece of paper, claiming it listed 224 names of Americans that had ties with communists. Although this list was never shown to anyone but McCarthy, no one tried to get the accused people freed from their charges of treason. An example of one is Is There Life After Death , which will be explored. Different religions and cultures believe that different things happen after we die. Humans prepare for the future all their lives, yet meet the next life totally unprepared. This is a quote by the Tibetan Master, Drakpa Gylsten. This quote suggests that humans are rebirthed, and have new lives after death. Buddhists and Christians have a somewhat contrasting view on life after death. Christians believe that humans do not live only one life, but two. Catholics believe in a place called purgatory, where people whom have un confessed sins go temporarily, until clean enough to enter heaven. Buddhists believe in karma and rebirth. Religions have opposing views on the topic of life after death, all which vary greatly. {SLIDE TWO} What happens to your soul after you die? Many people wonder what happens to your soul after you die and there are many possibilities. The use of cannons eliminated many of the dangers that explorers without cannons might have, such as pirates or warships of hostile countries. Fate is only a belief in Pagan religion; Christians don t believe in a predetermined destiny. When Beowulf is fighting the dragon and he begins to sense defeat he reflects on a journey into darkness that all men must make, as death ends their few brief hours on earth. (Beowulf pg.54).
