Panathenaic Stadium Research Paper
The modern way of living coexists with the ancient heritage of the city. Athens, capital of Greece,
mother of democracy, is the starting point to an unforgettable journey of western civilization. The ride
starts from Thysio. The place took its name from the temple of Ifestos, continuing to the hill
Filoppapou, a breath away from Acropolis, and colse to the new Acropolis Museum. The tour
continues to the Panathenaic Stadium, otherwise known as the famed Kallimarmaro stadium that
hosted the first modern Olympic Games of 1896. Its gleaming white Pentelic marble imposes under
the Athenian skies.
Just opposite stand the National Gardens, an oasis of Mediterranean flora that is a welcome liberation

The Food Safety Policy Of The European Union
Introduction
Everybody loves food, everybody has to eat. Unfortunately not all food is safe for us to consume, even
though it may appear to be safe. There are over 200 known microbial, chemical or physical agents that
can cause illness when ingested(Acheson, 1999). There has to be regulations to keep the US and EU
citizens healthy and protected from these harmful agents in our food. In the United States, this is
where the FDA(Food and Drug Administration) the CDC(Centers for Disease Control) and the
USDA(United States Department of Agriculture) step in. The FDA controls food and drug regulations,
the CDC helps identify pathogen and diseases and the USDA deals with meat and poultry regulations.
In the European Union(EU) a close FDA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1990s was the decade that Europe was hit with the Mad Cow disease crisis that caused a great
number of the EU citizens to distrust their government. In response to this distrust, the government
came up with different studies and initiatives to change and reorganize food safety(Halkier Holm,
2006)policy. Today, because of the constant race to defend against food borne illnesses, the European
Union has one of the highest food safety standards in the world. The European Commission developed
an integrated approach to food safety which they call from farm to table . The goal is to address all
problems in all sectors of the food chain before they get to the consumers plate. These sectors include:
feed production, primary production, food processing, storage, transport and retail sale. The EU has
implemented a number of legislation pieces to achieve this goal such as: the General Food Law, a new
general Food Safety Policy, and the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA). The European Food
Safety Authority provides scientific advice and support to the authorities who regulate food safety and
they also find ways to communicate its scientific finding to the public. In addition, there are a few
other initiatives and agencies that help deal with food safety such as the Rapid Alert System for Food
and Feed. This is a system that very quickly alerts authorities and the

The Effects Of Osha s Mandate Under Section 3 ( 8 ) Essay
The Supreme Court was requested to rule on the cotton dust standard using the OSHA s mandate
under section 3(8) whose objective was to protect workers from the exposure of hazardous materials.
In the Department of Industrial Union, the Benzene decision decided by a divided court invalidated
the OSHA s benzene standard. According to the judges, OSHA had to base its findings on substantial
evidence rather than mere assumptions. These records should show that occupational exposure to the
regulated substance presents significant health risk (Schulte, et al., 2014).
Apparently, the American Textile Manufacturers did not question the validity of the OSHA s findings
before determining the risks associated with the exposure of cotton dust while working. However, the
personnel in this industry concurred that those exposed to cotton dust contract Byssinosis. In their
opinion, a less stringent standard would be enough to protect the workers and still be economically
feasible. Justice Brennan and Justice Stephens upheld the cotton dust standard by writing their opinion
for a five person majority. One of the major queries was whether the labor secretary was mandated by
the OSH Act in promulgating a section 6(b) (5) standard to determine whether the cost of the standard
bear a reasonable relationship to its benefits. This issue had been evaded by the Court in Benzene,
aside from Powell s lone concurrence (Crowley, 1987). Justice Brennan rejected the argument raised

Gargoyle Essay
4.Gargoyles spin offs
Even after the Gargoyles TV show was canceled, Greg Weisman planned a series of possible spin offs
for Gargoyles with the help of other creators. A prequel series called Gargoyles: The Dark Ages was to
take place at Wyvern Castle in medieval times before the events of the show. On the other hand,
Gargoyles 2198 was intended as a sequel set in the late 22nd century when the alien race called the
Space Spawn first mentioned in the episode Sentinel by the alien guardian Nokkar attacks Earth.
Several of the spin offs were based on interesting supporting characters introduced in the TV show.
One of them would have been focused on The New Olympians a group of mystical beings loosely
inspired by the Greek mythology. The other idea was to follow the adventures of Rory Dugan (voiced
in the show by Scott Cleverdon), a modern day incarnation of the ancient Irish hero Cu Chullain.

However, in the first season episode Deadly Force, his love of old movies goes a bit too far. After
watching a western, Broadway steals Elisa Maza s handgun and, while playing with it, accidentally

arms dealers around the city.
Deadly Force begins as a standard Gargoyles episode and then takes a sudden, effective turn into
drama and even horror. However, advisory groups weren t impressed by the episode s violent
depiction of a shooting. Deadly Force was initially pulled from the rerun cycle. The episode was later
broadcast again, but only after editors removed some of the blood from the scene of Elisa s shooting.

Swot Analysis Of Brown s Investments And Portfolio...
Strengths related to Brown s Investments and Portfolio Management Our team has carefully reviewed
your portfolio and have identified areas of strength and areas that need improvement. The term
portfolio includes all your investment accounts except the 529 Plan which we analyzed separately.
One strength in regards to your portfolio is that it has outperformed the market over the last ten years.
This means that on average your returns were greater than the returns of the market. Outperforming
the market is not guaranteed each year, but when it does occur, you are generating higher returns and
increasing your likelihood of meeting your financial goals. Areas of Improvement Though you have
several strengths related to your portfolio, our team did find a few areas that could be improved. Our
primary issue with your current portfolio is your high equity allocation; this means that a majority of
your portfolio is held in stocks. When a majority of your portfolio is held in stocks, you are not
diversifying throughout all asset options available to you and are opening yourself up to a higher level
of risk. By diversifying throughout different types of assets, cash, bonds, stocks, etc., you minimize
your risk and are more likely to reach your goals. The next area of improvement we would like to
discuss is the lack of variety in the quality and maturity in your bold holdings. Diversification doesn t
apply to just the asset classes, it also applies to the assets within the

The Glass Menagerie By Tennessee Williams Essay
The Glass Menagerie, a play written by Tennessee Williams, is in a play full of emotion. The writer
envelopes his audience in a cloud of feelings, as he describes the lives of a family who faces poverty
and diversity each day of their lives( Williams 2013.) This play is situated in a little, poor loft. The
play happens inside the parlor and dining room of the loft. In the Glass Menagerie, the play focuses
itself on four characters. These four characters include: Amanda Wingfield, (the mother) and a ladies
of a confusing nature; Laura Wingfield, (the little girl) who is injuried from a childhood sickness, and
Tom Wingfield, (the more seasoned child) who feels caught and is searching for away out of the life
he is living and Jim (Tom s companion ) who is lost in the past when he was a star football player.
Williams characters are unequipped for living in this present reality. Amanda Wingfield uses sticking
to her recollections to escape from reality. She is from the old south. Her old molded method for living
keeps her fantasizing about when she used to go on McGuire 2rides to the ball with her noble men
guests. She stresses so much because she settled on terrible decisions in her own particular life.
Amanda is fantasizing at whatever point she needs to escape from the truth that she is poor and is not
going anyplace. She describes stories of ballsand moves, church socials and noble man guests. She

Recording Guitar And A Dynamic Cardioid Microphone
Recording guitar is rarely ever as easy as sloppily plopping down whatever mic s handy at the moment
in front of the speaker grille and hitting record. Majority would even argue that mic choice and
placement only play bit parts in a larger production that involves pre amps, guitar amps, cable length,
A/D D/A converters, tracking through a console clean vis a vis applying processing going in, and of
course, the choice of guitar itself! Instead of writing a fully comprehensive work (and a very, very
long discussion and debate), this article aims to address some basic guitar micing technique using a
dynamic cardioid microphone (such as the venerable SM57) and a condenser (such as a Neumann
u87). 1 mic technique If the situation calls for using one microphone, you can position your dynamic
mic either as close to the speaker grille cloth as possible (less ambiance) or 3 6 inches away, either
pointing to the center of the cone or off axis. Listen through your monitors how the speaker sounds
like, and change cones if you aren t satisfied (as in the case of a marshall 4x12). Once you ve decided
on which cone to record, fine tune the guitar sound by angling the mic towards or away from the
center of the cone as it makes a difference in the tone coming into your recording. A condenser is
generally placed a bit farther because of its higher sensitivity (and in some cases, lower clipping point
with regard to SPL handling). 2 mic technique Applying the technique above, one may

Life Is Not Just About The Destination
The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments that you spend smiling with
someone you care about. Anonymous. The wisdom in this quote is ageless. Life is not just about the
destination; it is about the journey and who you spend it with. I would argue against the quote and say
it s not only about the people who can smile with you, but those who stand next to you in hardship and
struggle will give you the greatest reward. The following story details how I found such a group of
people. It is crucial in life to find someone who will share in the small moments with you because in
the end it is the small moments that you will remember the most. (2)Smack! I felt the thundering

myself into a somersault across my right shoulder, also known as a Granby roll. Peyton floundered
after me as I stood, turned, and took a reaction shot with the speed of lightning. As I lifted him into the
air in a double leg takedown, it was his turn to feel the pain of the all but soft mat below. Coach blew

The United States And The Middle East
Following World War II, the major international powers in the Middle East began to lose influence
over the area. In 1946, France and Great Britain were forced to withdrawal from their colonized states
by the United Nation Security Council when a delegation of the Middle Eastern countries called for
the removal the colonial mandates on Middle East, specifically in Palestine (Department of Public
Information). While Britain and France did not completely abandon their influence over the area, the
removal of their direct influence over the Middle East left an opening for the two new superpowers,
the United States and the Soviet Union, to enter the scene. The two world powers were in stark
competition after World War II in an attempt to spread their political ideology. The Middle East
became a new battleground for the Cold War after the removal of France and Great Britain. The two
countries were drawn to the Middle East because of both their rivalry and their own specific interests,
but their actions had major regional repercussions on the area and the relations between countries. The
expression of the rivalry between the two countries came in three forms: direct engagement, alliances,
and military aid.
While the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union was the driving force behind the two
powers interests in the Middle East, both had their own specific agendas, which need to be realized
before focusing in on the rivalry itself. The Soviet Union had major

The distinctive interior design within the store instills a book brought to life impression that pulls you
in as you walk further into the store. According to Collette Morgan, one of the Wild Rumpus owners,
the goal of the design was to provide a space that did not condescend to kids by using primary colors
and overly childish decor, but rather to create an experience comfortable for the littlest through the
biggest . This atmosphere is even further enhanced by perhaps the most singularly distinguishing
feature of this children s bookstore; the menagerie of animals dwelling between the shelves.
The bookstore industry in the US is comprised of a mix of a few large chain bookstores such as
Barnes and Noble and many smaller, private and/or family owned businesses. As far as market size
goes, the bookstore industry accumulated approximately $14 billion in annual revenue last year,
according to IBIS. The overall industry has been experiencing a decline over the last decade, largely
as a consequence of the growing trend of e commerce, and is expected to continue this trend. Many
bookstores have tried to capitalize on the new trend by offering e readers and e books.
Although there are a few large chain bookstores, such as Barnes and Noble, Wild Rumpus competes
more heavily with smaller, more local bookstores. Since they specialize in children s books, their
competitors are also more narrowly

The Red Guards Essay
HYPOTHESIS: The Red Guards were instrumental in carrying out Mao s ideologies within the
Cultural Revolution
In correlation to Stalin s Russia, Mao s China shadowed through the darkness of an intensive
economic crisis, generally referred to as, The great leap forward . The campaign lasted over a decade
despite the catastrophic events that made China and its economy go downhill. Although Mao s efforts
were too colossal to go unnoticed, the monstrosity of a decade lead Mao to slowly fade in the
background. Consequently, Zedong s acquaintances, Deng Xiaoping and Liu Shao chi, rose to power
to rectify the situation. Deng and Liu s attempts to restore China after the period of the great leap
forward may have been an optimistic road for the two officials. However, for Mao Zedong, it was far
from the ideologies he obtained from the very beginning. Mao s return in 1966 was merely to enforce
his socialist principles, underpinning the Cultural Revolution.

The Religious Views Of Buddhist Religion
Buddhist temples was an area I have been intrigued to go. My friend talked about her growing up in a
Buddhist religion. Some of the idealistic beliefs they hold and the actions they do in order achieve
those beliefs. I never thought I would go because I did not know much about approaching. This
assignment helped me achieve that. I will go over my experience with why I chose this, how it went,
the and relations with the readings/class. Basically, trying to answer the questions in a format and
analyze my experience. This projected allowed me to go a place and not only go but to learn about my
experience. I learned a lot about the religion and know how to approach it. Also, reflect on my
experience which I often do not do when I go to new places.
I selected this activity because I been curious about religion. Especially, religions outside of
Christianity. I always heard positive things about the Buddhist religion and I was curious about going.
I grew up with two different religious views but they both had similar views. I wanted to see how
Buddhism worked. They seem like they would have a different approach on things. I remember in my
Pre History Eastern course briefly talk about Buddhism. One thing I found interesting was they seek
nirvana. A state where they find peace. Although, the religion is also in Vietnamese language. There
could be a different view. I chose this community because religion has been a complicate thing to me.

Abstract
The application of Field programmable Gate Array(FPGA) in the development of electronics circuit
control scheme has drawn much attention lately due to its shorter design cycle, lower cost and higher
density. This paper presents an FPGA based gate signal generator for single phase multilevel inverter
employing an sinusoidal PWM switching strategy to control its output voltage. The XILINX FPGA
based single phase multilevel PWM inverter was constructed by adding a bi directional switches to the
conventional bridge topology. The inverter can produce three and five different output voltage levels
across the load. FPGA is chosen for the hardware implementation of switching strategy mainly due to
its high computation speed that can ensure the accuracy of the instants that gating signals are
generated. VHDL language is used
to model the inverter switching strategies The PWM pulses was downloaded in
FPGA(XC3S400PQ208) from Spartan 3. In addition to FPGA, Xilinx/modelsim software was used
for simulation and verification of the proposed

The Mentality Of Baseball In Fences By August Wilson
August Wilson uses baseball ideology to construct the mindset of his protagonist, Troy Maxson, in
Fences ; however, Wilson also uses Troy to embody black America in the 50s. The metaphorical and
literal significance of baseball is the driving force Troy s subjectivity and ideology. Whether it be
comparing death to baseball pitch, warning his son to not strikeout, or complaining about being stuck
on first base, Troy uses baseball to explain life to those around him. Ironically, it is baseball that
actually leads to Troy s psychic castration. Although Troy was older when he was released from prison
and playing in the Negro leagues, racism held younger players from competing with white Americans
and there is no doubt that Troy saw this as what held him back as well. Unable to play in the major
leagues bitters Troy s attitude towards life and affects his relationship with his son, Cory, and wife,
Rose. While on a micro level, the rules and mechanics of baseball have a negative impact on Troy s
mentality, on a macro level Troy s loyalty to the game can be seen as an empowering force for black
America in the 50s. The idea of not striking out, and the fetish of the home run is meant to represent
the black community s resistance against society s racism during this time. Although the ideology of
baseball consumes Troy to the point of his own personal strikeouts, the ideology itself, and who Troy
represents, is suppose to represent black America s fight against a racist

The brutal diction and sadistic atmosphere that picturize Perry s childhood leads the audience to revisit
their initial impression of him. With a further glimpse into the man s background, Capote can continue
his focus on providing a larger picture. In order to expand on Perry, Capote builds off of his physical
trauma and discusses the emotional trauma that he had to face concerning his parents and siblings. His
parents were separated and his mom became drunk who did not care for him and eventually he had a
falling out with his father and with the multiple deaths of his siblings, Perry Smith revisited these
memories many times. His sister, Fern Joy was a drunk who fell from the window of a hotel room.
Falling she struck a theater marquee, bounced off it, and rolled under the wheels of a taxi (116), his
brother Jimmy who had one day driven his wife to suicide and killed himself the next (69), and his
mother, an alcoholic, had strangled to death on her own vomit (69). According to Capote, such drastic
changes had lead Perry to some serious changes in which human life is not something important and is
simply expendable. As the writer, he does not believe that Perry s involvement in the Clutter murder is
forgivable but rather, compassion and sympathy should be shown toward him due to his unfortunate
circumstances. Additionally, Capote believes that there should be an acknowledgement of

Seuss The Cat In The Hat Comes Back As A Cold War Allegory
The Cat in The Hat Comes Back is an illustrated children s book written by Dr. Seuss and published in
1958. This book is made for children aged three to eight who are just at the beginning of learning how
to read. This book is the second of the two The Cat in The Hat books and it is full of silliness,
messiness and despair on behalf of the narrator. However, some people try to analyse this children s
book as an allegory of the Cold War. In the following paper, I will show why some people might think
of The Cat in The Hat Comes Back as a Cold War Allegory although Dr. Seuss never indicated
anything about this theory. Even though this is a children s book many people interpret the pink stains
and their spread as representatives of the communism. Charles D. Cohen states in his visual biography

is a possibility. But The Cat in The Hat Comes Back is a children s book and therefore not intended to
make the readers politically aware since they are not interested in politics and do not understand the
book in this way. There are many more books written by Seuss dealing with political topics which are
much more obvious about the topic, so Seuss would not try to send a subtle message, which might not

Essay about Peasant Lifestyle In Davis´ The Return of...
The Return of Martin Guerre, written by Natalie Zemon Davis, is the tale of a court case that takes
place in sixteenth century France. Martin Guerre is a peasant who deserted his wife and family for
many years. While Martin Guerre is gone, a man named Arnaud du Tilh arrives at Martin s village and
claims to be Martin Guerre. Bertrande, who is Guerre s wife, Guerre s sisters, and many of the
villagers, accepts the imposter. After almost three years of being happily married, Bertrande takes the

She states, so important were these family houses to Basque villagers that each was given a name
which the heir and his wife assumed (Davis 6). Davis is portraying how property had a great
importance for peasants of certain villages and how it was a major part of their lives. Davis also
mentions in the case of Sanxi that he could not have sold it easily if he had wanted to, for the Fors that
is, the customs of the Labourd prohibited the alienation of patrimonial goods except in cases of dire
necessity and then only with the consent of other interested kin (Davis 8). Sanxi s lack of option to sell
his property, unless given approval by other family who are uninterested in the property, shows that in
certain villages peasants were concerned with maintaining their property within their family. Davis
also contrasts this social norm of family property with explaining the social norms when dealing with
property in other villages. Sanxi moved to new village called Artigat. It is stated, What was really
different from the Basque country was the way the land moved, both in inheritance and in sales. Here

Comparison Of The Maltese Falcon And Citizen Kane
Two of the first film noir pieces, The Maltese Falcon and Citizen Kane, share many similarities in
structure and style. Their biggest similarities are the plant and payoff technique, and meaningless
quests the main characters embark upon. In The Maltese Falcon, a detective, Sam Spade, is tasked
with finding a golden falcon by Brigid O Shaunessy. He is not told of the falcon until Brigid s former
partner, Joel Cairo, offers to pay Spade for the falcon. Consequently, Spade discovers Brigid is lying
to him about her identity, having originally given an alternate name. All the while, Spade doesn t
know the falcon s location until a ship captain comes into Spade s office and dies, holding the falcon.
This leads to Spade bargaining for the falcon, after which, the falcon is finally unwrapped, and
discovered to be fake. The film concludes with Cairo setting off to try and track down the real falcon,
and Spade left alone without the money he was promised for it. However, in Citizen Kane, the film
starts off with Charles Kane dying on the floor of his mansion, saying rosebud. Then the film cuts to a
newsreel about Kane s life, which is dismissed as too impersonal. Subsequently, a reporter, Thompson,
is sent to discover rosebud . Throughout the movie, Kane s acquaintances tell Thompson about his
life, few mentioning rosebud. Finally, the movie ends in Kane s mansion, reporters cataloguing all of
Kane s possessions. Thompson is asked by fellow reporters if he ever discovered the

The Responsibilities of Athletic Trainers
Athletic trainers have a variety of responsibilities included in their job description. They provide
clinical diagnosis, rehabilitation therapy, and emergency care (CITE). Athletic trainers are often
confused with personal trainers, because most people associate both careers with athletes. However,
athletic trainers work in the field of physical medicine unlike personal trainers. For the most part,
athletic trainers must have people skills and an overall enjoyment of helping others. Since they treat a
wide range of patients, athletic trainers must be able to relate to all types of people. They must have an
expert knowledge of the human anatomy and also be able to think in a cause and effect manner when
diagnosing injuries.
Career Opportunities
There are a lot of job opportunities available as an athletic trainer depending on the area of the field
the individual wants to work in. Many athletic trainers want to work with sports teams at the high
school, collegiate and professional level. Athletic trainers are a necessity in all sports, making their
skill set a high demand. The employment projection for athletic trainers shows an increase in the next
ten years of over 6% (CITE). There is not a strong regional difference in job opportunities for athletic
trainers. Their skills are needed in every part of the country where athletic competition is taking place.
Salary Ranges Paragraph In the past three years, athletic training has risen in nearly every category

Big Data Is Not A New Technology
Evaluation
Big data is not a new technology, however applied to the rapidly growing and changing field of cyber
security, big data companies are finding new and emerging ways to use big data analytics to gain a
competitive edge (Emerging Trends in Big Data Analytsis for 2015, 2015). Big data analysis looks for
and utilizes the patterns extracted from large volumes of data. (Kantarcioglu, 2015). One of the
important uses of big data analytics is in the detection, discovery, and prevention of cyber security
threats. Big data analysis is also instrumental in the collection and analysis of the large volumes of
data collected from sensors embedded within smart grids (Bharathi, 2015). Many companies and
organizations in sectors such as electric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This information can then be used by potential employers in hiring decisions, or even by potential
romantic interests (Mansour, 2016).
How Big Data Analytics Can Be Used to Improve or Support Cyber Security Big data analytics shows
a number of promising applications to improve and support cybersecurity. No longer can companies
and organizations rely on traditional cyber security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and anti
virus software. One of the most obvious of these is in the early detection and prevention of cyber
threats. Using a visual analytic system, IT professionals can use software that will analyze large scale
high dimensional cyber security datasets containing logs of a million computers (Chen, 2015). This
analysis will help detect unexpected changes taking places in all areas of the data and identify
potential anomalies, and help protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data. Big data
analytics can not only help detect potential future cyber attacks, it can be used to help detect a breach
that is in progress (Kern, 2015). By applying machine learning techniques, new security events can be
identified based on historical patterns (Enhancing Cybersecurity with Big Data: Challenges
Opportunities, 2014). Documentation and prevention of cybersecurity attacks is another key

Solitude Cannery Row Analysis
While solitude and loneliness may appear similar, ... all resemblance ends at the surface (Estroff,
2003). Solitude is a desirable way to deal with problems when life begins to be too much as it was for
Doc. Solitude also gives one an opportunity to start anew, as the burrowing gopher hoped it could.
However, when solitude carries on for too long, it takes a strong will and a definite goal to avoid
loneliness, the undesirable offspring of isolation and rejection. Doc wanted to get away from his life
after he likely had trouble with love, so he chose solitude in Cannery Row, but he overstayed his
solitude. Doc s walk from Chicago to Florida over a breakup with his girlfriend shows how deeply
affected by love he can be. Coupled with the sad story of a lost lover in the poem that Doc memorized
and read at the end of Cannery Row, it is safe to say that Doc suffered badly from an issue in his love
life, so he chose solitude in a place with no one similar to him in which he could start his life again.
Solitude can be a beneficial way to deal with such events and it could have been great for Doc until he
lacked the motivation to leave solitude in Cannery Row. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1. During the first part of the experiment, it was concluded that given the information of the melting
points of maleic acid and fumaric acid, the two unknown substances could be identified. In stating so,
maleic acid had the melting point of 132.5 while fumaric acid had the melting point of 287. During the
experiment, a pea sized sample of each substance were collected and melted with a Bunsen burner.
Test tube B melted faster than test tube A, which relatively stayed the same. With the data collected,
the test tube B melted faster and was predicted to be maleic acid.

From this experiment, maleic acid has a lower melting point. Maleic acid s structure has two
carboxylic acid groups on the same side of the double that are cis, meaning that the molecule will have
a polarity as a whole. Also, this means that the structure would be unstable, taking less energy for both
of the bonds to be broken. It is also seen that maleic acid is polar from its solubility, meaning that it
was able to dissolve in water. Since the two carboxylic groups are on the same side of the double
bond, the molecule becomes polar. Fumaric acid was seen to nonpolar from the experiments, showing
that it was insoluble during the solubility test. This could be because the structure has a trans bond,
which means that its two carboxylic groups are pulling in opposite directions. The two carboxylic
groups make it more symmetrical, therefore the structure is less polar. Therefore, the molecule would
be nonpolar because it cancels out any polarity. Fumaric acid would be more stable than maleric acid
because it s melting point is significantly higher also. It s harder to break down the bonds, meaning it
would take more energy to do

1. How Does RNA Differ From DNA
1) How does RNA differ from DNA? According to the video, RNA is made of nucleotide building
block, but is a single stranded. DNA often exists as a double stranded molecule made of four building
blocks called nucleotides. RNA contains Uracil as DNA contains Thymine. DNA is most often used to
store genetic information, while RNA serves as a host of functions.

There is much scientific debate about whether viruses are alive. Like living creatures, they carry genes
and evolve. They are unable to reproduce on their own and must infect living cells and hijack cellular
machinery such as ribosomes to copy themselves. Each virus is like a little tank that can blast a hole in
the outer cell wall and send its forces in. These intruders change the blueprints in the factory s
headquarters so the factory starts producing more viral tanks. It doesn t stop until it builds so many
tanks that the cell bursts right open. Most viruses are little more than genetic information DNA or
RNA inside a protein shell. They bind to a cell and inject their genetic code inside
9) How does RNA interference help scientists study genes?
Scientists can use the same basic mechanism of RNA interference to turn off one gene at a time and
study the effect on the cell and the organism. For example, turning off one gene may drain all the
pigment out of a purple flower. Another might prevent a plant from producing a toxic chemical,
making it safe to eat. Scientists have not yet determined whether human cells naturally fight viruses
with RNAi, but it is possible that one day we will be able to use RNAi to deactivate cancer causing
genes and genetic disorders.
10) In a paragraph, reflect on what you thought of the NOVA RNA Lab. You

British Influence On American Culture
Around the world for centuries and till this day when an individual thinks of prestige and excellence

influence continues to be found around the world. Britain created many of the ideas which are central
to humanity today, such as the Magna Carta, which was signed in 1215 and considered the birthplace

Dangerous Liaisons By Claudia Moscovici
Nakia was in a relationship with a psychopath. A person with a psychopathic personality lacks the
ability to love or establish meaningful relationships. A psychopath is a predator who pretends to love

Nakia thought was her knight in shining armor turned out to be a nightmare. Throughout their
relationship, he emotionally abused her, held a gun to her head, criticized her weight, made false
accusations, cheated, called her names, and physically assaulted her during pregnancy. A psychopath

Theories Of Personality Theory
Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Your Name
Institution Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Scientists
believe that personality is often a huge factor that determines the choices that we make in daily lives.
Personality is not unique to humans, animals also have distinct personalities; any pet owner will agree.
The question that we are first inclined to ask is what is personality? Why do we need it? The answer to
the first question is fairly simple; according to Feist Rosenberg (2009), personality is a pattern of
relatively permanent traits and unique characteristics that give both consistency and individuality to a
person s behaviour . There are two approaches as far as personality theories are concerned, viz.
dispositional theory and biological or trait based theories. These theories are constitute of many other
smaller theories. The primary theorists discussed in the following sections are Eysenck, Alloport,
Tupes, Goldberg and Christal. Dispositional Personality theory Dispositional personality theory is a
combination of theories with a central theme; all of them attribute personality to innate attributes of an

important as an individual s main life choices are determined by these traits. The Central traits
determine the rules for daily interactions and most people have five to ten central traits. Finally, the
secondary traits are occasional attributes that are displayed only under special

Symbolism of Nature in Poems
In literature, writers often use symbols of nature to symbolize emotion and reflection. Flowers may
symbolize life as drought may symbolize death and a loss of hope. In the poems The Road Not Taken,
Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, and A Poison Tree, Frost and Wordsworth use the shallow
image of a flower and the woods to symbolize a change of emotion and thought in one s life. Two
roads diverging in different directions lead to an unknown destination because no one knows where
the paths will take them. The two paths in the woods are symbolic for there being many choices in
life. The speaker also depicts the two paths with leaves covering both equally, which shows that both
are mysterious and lead to somewhere unknown to the person traveling it. Also, that no matter what
choice is made do not look back, but to keep moving forward. For example in the poem the speaker
says, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. (536) it depicts that the
person is picking the path not commonly chosen by others even if it does not lead to good things. It
may be much more difficult, and although it is going against everyone it has set the speaker apart from
others. The woods are used as a symbol of a passage to temptation and darkness in the poem, Stopping
by Woods on a Snowy Evening . It is also described as a place of glamour that has diverted the
speaker from fulfilling the promise. The poem uses the horse with the bell attached to it as a

Rise of Republicans: o The issue of slavery greatly severed both of the existing political parties. o In
fact, it was this issue that inspired the Republican Party to form in the 1850 s to serve as the primary
anti slavery force in the nation. o It was this party that gave numerous support for Abraham Lincoln,
consequently starting the Civil War. o With a Union victory, the Republican Party pretty much too
over the American government for over 60 years. o Then once again in 1896, where the Republicans
faced off against the Democrats with candidates William Bryan and William McKinley. o The
Republican Party made their positions on the conflict of gold vs. sliver, gaining them popularity. o
After winning this election, the party remained the majority party for another few decades until the

Marshall Mcluhan s Theory Of The Media And Communication...
Marshall McLuhan was a media and communication theorist and is considered the first leading
prophet of the electronic age but he was also the most controversial and most talked about
contemporary intellectuals. , he coined the phrase Medium is the Message also know as Medium
Theory. He was explaining the way in which we absorb information from media, and how it isn t the
information that affects us but the way we absorb it. McLuhan said Indeed, it is only too typical that
the content of any medium blinds us to the character of the medium Medium Theory is his most
famous piece of work, Medium Theory was introduced in his 1964 book, Understanding Media: The
Extensions of Man . Which soon became known as the bible of media studies. It is defined as the
name assigned to a variety of approaches used to examine how the means of expression of human
communication impact the meaning(s) of human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three main categories are medium as a vessel, medium as a language and medium as a
environment. Medium as a vessel refers to the idea That media are more or less neutral containers for
content . With reference to television, it doesn t matter what the focus of the information presented is
but rather that the television brings across all information unbiased in the same demeanour. Medium
as a language reflect exactly what it sounds like, different mediums will express themselves in
different ways, with different slang or grammar to define the genre. With printed mediums this could
reflect in the format of the piece, the way in which something in written and even font choice. The
final category is medium as an environment, the idea is derived from the concept that media has the
ability to create and directly influence our personal and individual experience within a mass
population whether or not we realise

Fiduciary Acceptance Definition
The fiduciary administration is the responsibility of the trustee for managing the trust property. The
trustee has all of the powers over trust property that a legally competent, unmarried individual has
with respect to individually owned property. But it is the beneficiaries, not the trustee, that bear the
consequences of the trustee s exercise of these powers. Meanwhile, by making a transfer in
testamentary trust rather than outright leave them to their heirs, a settlor ensures that the property will
be managed and distributed in accordance with his wishes which expressed in the terms of the trust
rather than the whims of the beneficiaries. A testamentary trust also allows the settlor to empower the
trustee to decide how the trust property ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the view above, beneficiaries may bear high risk for the consequences of intentionally or
negligently improper actions of trustee. So there must be some measures to protect the beneficiaries
from mismanagement or misappropriation by the trustee. In deciding whether and how to exercise the
powers of the trusteeship, the trustee is subject to and must act in accordance with the trustee s
fiduciary duties. The fiduciary duties come from the law of fiduciary administration, whose purpose is
to induce the trustee to adhere to the terms of the trust and to act prudently and in the best interests of
the beneficiaries. Trustees are subject to overarching fiduciary duties of loyalty and prudence. The
fiduciary duties are the highest standard of care, at the same time, trustees have to be subject to a host
of subsidiary duties, such as keeping adequate records and disclosing information about the trust to the
beneficiaries. If trustee breaches the fiduciary duties, he or she may be removed from office, and need
to account for the ill gotten profit. The beneficiaries are entitled to damages, even if they suffered no

Theme Of Ethical Issues In Erin Brockovich
Issues Raised In The Film
Throughout the film, Erin Brockovich, there had been numerous matters and business practises raised
in the film regarding the work of PG E and Erin s behaviour, etc. Most of these are seen through the
perspective of Erin herself.
Ethical Issues
Professionalism
Teamwork and Conflict
Lack of Proper Management
 General Management
 Public Relations Management
 Financial Management
 Crisis Management
Ethical Issues
There are three main examples of PG E s unethical behaviour portrayed in the film. It cannot be
confirmed that PG E Corporation headquarters (highest in business management) knew of the
existence of the hexavalent chromium 6 in Hinkley, therefore I will not use that example.
The other two examples also include PG E and show that PG E (the local business, not PG E
headquarters) knew about the chemicals. There are other small ethical ... Show more content on

However the main conflict is an external dysfunctional conflict between Erin and her co workers. This
type of conflict does not benefit anybody in the workplace, and is only good for obstructing the goal
of the team.
It is clear that Erin highly dislikes working together with other people or in a team. She doesn t easily
trust others and she explains that it is because of personal experiences and it is also for the reason that
she had committed herself to her job and had been working without a break. She is afraid someone
else will steal her work and her credit. Therefore she hampers the work of the professionals (including
Kurt Potter who is very experienced in this field). She refuses to let them work with her and Ed, and
keeps getting in the way of their task.
She wants to be the hero, because she s deserved it and she s even neglected her family for her job.
She is seen to get emotional about the topic and is thinking with her heart and not thinking about the
benefits of working together with the

The Presentation of Women in La Belle Dame Sans Merci and...
The Presentation of Women in La Belle Dame Sans Merci and Mariana Though both poems have the
common theme of unrequited love, Keats and Tennyson assign very different characteristics to the
women in their poems. In Mariana , the woman is submissive and a victim of cruelty, whereas La
Belle Dame in La Belle Dame Sans Merci is the more powerful of the man and woman in the poem,
and the one inflicting the cruelty. In both poems, the landscapes mirror these characteristics, and even
the feelings of these two women. The landscape is also symbolic of Mariana, as she is mortal and will
eventually die as plants die, and seasons change. She is therefore more naturalistic than the mysterious
Belle Dame is. Her mystery is further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
La Belle Dame even rides the knight s pacing steed herself. This use of the landscape around La Belle
Dame by Keats to help shape her character is also used in Mariana : From the dark fen the oxen s low
Tennyson s use of pathetic fallacy portrays a depressed, low , Mariana. Especially Mariana s aversion
to light associates her with death, or unhappiness, as opposed to life or happiness. However, perhaps
even La Belle Dame is unhappy, as she is forced to spend her whole life abandoning men, without
change. This is shown by the number of Kings and Princes she has wounded: pale Kings and Princes
too, Pale warriors, death pale were they all. As there have been so many men ruined by her, it seems
likely she has been doing the same thing all her life. The rhythm and shape of the poem could
similarly reveal her endless life, as throughout there is a iambic tetrameter, until the last line of each
verse where the rhythm is a iambic dimeter: Though the sedge is withered from the lake, And no

How Is Mark Twain Racist
When taking a look at Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn, racism is a large theme that seems to be
reoccurring. What some may think to be racism in Twain s words, can also be explained as, good story
telling appropriate to the era the story takes place in. Twain himself has been suggested as a racist
based on the fact that he uses the word nigger in his book. However, Twain was an avid abolitionist.
For those who claim that Twain was a racist must have only been looking out for themselves and not
those who are willing to learn about the past whether it be ugly or perfect. Racism was and forever
will be a dark part of the American past, and no one can change that, no matter how many books one
may alter.
In this book a number of dialects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main focus is to replace the 219 times the word nigger is used with slave. One would doubt that
Twain would input the N word into his book without having a good reason to do so. At the time of
writing this book, the Civil War was over and the general thought was that slavery and racism was
over. The thought then leads to the fact that Twain wanted to make a point of letting readers know that,
just because you have abolished slavery does not mean that the racism and bigotry has gone with it.
The repel of slavery made no difference to the racism card, and he wanted his Northern readers to
know it. When the argument of replacing the word nigger with slave one sees the issue with that. The
issue being that nigger in that time meant African American, not necessarily a slave. So looking at a
high school or college student in the future reading Huckleberry Finn for the first time and reading is
with the word slave the story loses its effect on the reader. It does not give a sense of the time, it
would only give a vibe that something is not right in the story. When reading this story for the first
time, one must have an open mind and not pay attention to little things like racism in this book. The
main plot is not, lets raft down a river and see how racist we can be. As one reads the story flows, and
part of that flow is to allow discrepancy in racial slurs. It is okay to have the

Bible Beliefs In The Bible
In the beginning, God created the Earth and everything on it. He also created man and woman, Adam
and Eve, who disobeyed him or one would say sinned against Him (The Catholic Study Bible, Genesis
3:6). Although Adam and Eve disobeyed God, His love and mercy for them was so much that he
forgave them. Abraham also sinned, yet God forgave him. Isaac, son of Abraham, followed God s
commandments and was faithful to Him. Isaac prayed to God to ask to allow his wife, Rebekah, to
conceive (The Catholic Study Bible, Genesis 25:21). God answered Isaac s prayer because He knows
what s best and because of His love for Isaac. Jacob, son of Isaac, deceived his brother and father to
receive the blessing (The Catholic Study Bible, Genesis 27: 5 29). This happened just as God said it
would. It was the fulfillment of His word. The Israelites were God s chosen people, because He
promised Abraham that his descendants would become a great nation (The Catholic Study Bible,
Genesis 12:3). God fulfills His promise and protects the Israelites because of His love and mercy He
has towards humanity. Throughout my life there have been many obstacles I ve had to face, but the
Bible verses of John 3:16, Romans 8:18, and Philippians 4:13 helped me get through those difficult
times. There are three definite moments in my life where I don t think I could have gotten through it
without the Gospel, which are when my sister passed away, my first heart break, and when I didn t
like the way I looked. When I was twelve years old my older sister died. This was a very difficult time
for me because I lost my best friend and I was still young, so I didn t comprehend it fully. The days
following her death I was extremely sad and lonely. I felt like I couldn t talk to my parents because I
didn t want to make them sad and I couldn t talk to my friends, because they didn t understand what I
was going through. So, that s when I made the choice to pick up my Bible and look for some comfort.
As I read through, the main verse that stuck out to me was John 3:16, which was also my sister s
favorite. John 3:16 states, For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, so that everyone
who believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life (The Catholic

  • 3. The Food Safety Policy Of The European Union Introduction Everybody loves food, everybody has to eat. Unfortunately not all food is safe for us to consume, even though it may appear to be safe. There are over 200 known microbial, chemical or physical agents that can cause illness when ingested(Acheson, 1999). There has to be regulations to keep the US and EU citizens healthy and protected from these harmful agents in our food. In the United States, this is where the FDA(Food and Drug Administration) the CDC(Centers for Disease Control) and the USDA(United States Department of Agriculture) step in. The FDA controls food and drug regulations, the CDC helps identify pathogen and diseases and the USDA deals with meat and poultry regulations. In the European Union(EU) a close FDA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1990s was the decade that Europe was hit with the Mad Cow disease crisis that caused a great number of the EU citizens to distrust their government. In response to this distrust, the government came up with different studies and initiatives to change and reorganize food safety(Halkier Holm, 2006)policy. Today, because of the constant race to defend against food borne illnesses, the European Union has one of the highest food safety standards in the world. The European Commission developed an integrated approach to food safety which they call from farm to table . The goal is to address all problems in all sectors of the food chain before they get to the consumers plate. These sectors include: feed production, primary production, food processing, storage, transport and retail sale. The EU has implemented a number of legislation pieces to achieve this goal such as: the General Food Law, a new general Food Safety Policy, and the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA). The European Food Safety Authority provides scientific advice and support to the authorities who regulate food safety and they also find ways to communicate its scientific finding to the public. In addition, there are a few other initiatives and agencies that help deal with food safety such as the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed. This is a system that very quickly alerts authorities and the ... • 4. The Effects Of Osha s Mandate Under Section 3 ( 8 ) Essay The Supreme Court was requested to rule on the cotton dust standard using the OSHA s mandate under section 3(8) whose objective was to protect workers from the exposure of hazardous materials. In the Department of Industrial Union, the Benzene decision decided by a divided court invalidated the OSHA s benzene standard. According to the judges, OSHA had to base its findings on substantial evidence rather than mere assumptions. These records should show that occupational exposure to the regulated substance presents significant health risk (Schulte, et al., 2014). Apparently, the American Textile Manufacturers did not question the validity of the OSHA s findings before determining the risks associated with the exposure of cotton dust while working. However, the personnel in this industry concurred that those exposed to cotton dust contract Byssinosis. In their opinion, a less stringent standard would be enough to protect the workers and still be economically feasible. Justice Brennan and Justice Stephens upheld the cotton dust standard by writing their opinion for a five person majority. One of the major queries was whether the labor secretary was mandated by the OSH Act in promulgating a section 6(b) (5) standard to determine whether the cost of the standard bear a reasonable relationship to its benefits. This issue had been evaded by the Court in Benzene, aside from Powell s lone concurrence (Crowley, 1987). Justice Brennan rejected the argument raised on the requirement of ... • 5. Gargoyle Essay 4.Gargoyles spin offs Even after the Gargoyles TV show was canceled, Greg Weisman planned a series of possible spin offs for Gargoyles with the help of other creators. A prequel series called Gargoyles: The Dark Ages was to take place at Wyvern Castle in medieval times before the events of the show. On the other hand, Gargoyles 2198 was intended as a sequel set in the late 22nd century when the alien race called the Space Spawn first mentioned in the episode Sentinel by the alien guardian Nokkar attacks Earth. Several of the spin offs were based on interesting supporting characters introduced in the TV show. One of them would have been focused on The New Olympians a group of mystical beings loosely inspired by the Greek mythology. The other idea was to follow the adventures of Rory Dugan (voiced in the show by Scott Cleverdon), a modern day incarnation of the ancient Irish hero Cu Chullain. There was a number ... Strengths related to Brown s Investments and Portfolio Management Our team has carefully reviewed your portfolio and have identified areas of strength and areas that need improvement. The term portfolio includes all your investment accounts except the 529 Plan which we analyzed separately. One strength in regards to your portfolio is that it has outperformed the market over the last ten years. This means that on average your returns were greater than the returns of the market. Outperforming the market is not guaranteed each year, but when it does occur, you are generating higher returns and increasing your likelihood of meeting your financial goals. Areas of Improvement Though you have several strengths related to your portfolio, our team did find a few areas that could be improved. Our primary issue with your current portfolio is your high equity allocation; this means that a majority of your portfolio is held in stocks. When a majority of your portfolio is held in stocks, you are not diversifying throughout all asset options available to you and are opening yourself up to a higher level of risk. By diversifying throughout different types of assets, cash, bonds, stocks, etc., you minimize your risk and are more likely to reach your goals. The next area of improvement we would like to discuss is the lack of variety in the quality and maturity in your bold holdings. Majority would even argue that mic choice and placement only play bit parts in a larger production that involves pre amps, guitar amps, cable length, A/D D/A converters, tracking through a console clean vis a vis applying processing going in, and of course, the choice of guitar itself! Instead of writing a fully comprehensive work (and a very, very long discussion and debate), this article aims to address some basic guitar micing technique using a dynamic cardioid microphone (such as the venerable SM57) and a condenser (such as a Neumann u87). 1 mic technique If the situation calls for using one microphone, you can position your dynamic mic either as close to the speaker grille cloth as possible (less ambiance) or 3 6 inches away, either pointing to the center of the cone or off axis. Listen through your monitors how the speaker sounds like, and change cones if you aren t satisfied (as in the case of a marshall 4x12). Once you ve decided on which cone to record, fine tune the guitar sound by angling the mic towards or away from the center of the cone as it makes a difference in the tone coming into your recording. A condenser is generally placed a bit farther because of its higher sensitivity (and in some cases, lower clipping point with regard to SPL handling). 2 mic technique Applying the technique above, one may ... I would argue against the quote and say it s not only about the people who can smile with you, but those who stand next to you in hardship and struggle will give you the greatest reward. The following story details how I found such a group of people. It is crucial in life to find someone who will share in the small moments with you because in the end it is the small moments that you will remember the most. (2)Smack! • 10. The United States And The Middle East Following World War II, the major international powers in the Middle East began to lose influence over the area. In 1946, France and Great Britain were forced to withdrawal from their colonized states by the United Nation Security Council when a delegation of the Middle Eastern countries called for the removal the colonial mandates on Middle East, specifically in Palestine (Department of Public Information). While Britain and France did not completely abandon their influence over the area, the removal of their direct influence over the Middle East left an opening for the two new superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, to enter the scene. The two world powers were in stark competition after World War II in an attempt to spread their political ideology. The Middle East became a new battleground for the Cold War after the removal of France and Great Britain. The two countries were drawn to the Middle East because of both their rivalry and their own specific interests, but their actions had major regional repercussions on the area and the relations between countries. The expression of the rivalry between the two countries came in three forms: direct engagement, alliances, and military aid. While the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union was the driving force behind the two powers interests in the Middle East, both had their own specific agendas, which need to be realized before focusing in on the rivalry itself. • 12. The Red Guards Essay HYPOTHESIS: The Red Guards were instrumental in carrying out Mao s ideologies within the Cultural Revolution In correlation to Stalin s Russia, Mao s China shadowed through the darkness of an intensive economic crisis, generally referred to as, The great leap forward . The campaign lasted over a decade despite the catastrophic events that made China and its economy go downhill. Although Mao s efforts were too colossal to go unnoticed, the monstrosity of a decade lead Mao to slowly fade in the background. Consequently, Zedong s acquaintances, Deng Xiaoping and Liu Shao chi, rose to power to rectify the situation. Deng and Liu s attempts to restore China after the period of the great leap forward may have been an optimistic road for the two officials. This paper presents an FPGA based gate signal generator for single phase multilevel inverter employing an sinusoidal PWM switching strategy to control its output voltage. The XILINX FPGA based single phase multilevel PWM inverter was constructed by adding a bi directional switches to the conventional bridge topology. The inverter can produce three and five different output voltage levels across the load. FPGA is chosen for the hardware implementation of switching strategy mainly due to its high computation speed that can ensure the accuracy of the instants that gating signals are generated. • 17. The Mentality Of Baseball In Fences By August Wilson August Wilson uses baseball ideology to construct the mindset of his protagonist, Troy Maxson, in Fences ; however, Wilson also uses Troy to embody black America in the 50s. The metaphorical and literal significance of baseball is the driving force Troy s subjectivity and ideology. Whether it be comparing death to baseball pitch, warning his son to not strikeout, or complaining about being stuck on first base, Troy uses baseball to explain life to those around him. Ironically, it is baseball that actually leads to Troy s psychic castration. Although Troy was older when he was released from prison and playing in the Negro leagues, racism held younger players from competing with white Americans and there is no doubt that Troy saw this as what held him back as well. Unable to play in the major leagues bitters Troy s attitude towards life and affects his relationship with his son, Cory, and wife, Rose. While on a micro level, the rules and mechanics of baseball have a negative impact on Troy s mentality, on a macro level Troy s loyalty to the game can be seen as an empowering force for black America in the 50s. The idea of not striking out, and the fetish of the home run is meant to represent the black community s resistance against society s racism during this time. Although the ideology of baseball consumes Troy to the point of his own personal strikeouts, the ideology itself, and who Troy represents, is suppose to represent black America s fight against a racist ... His parents were separated and his mom became drunk who did not care for him and eventually he had a falling out with his father and with the multiple deaths of his siblings, Perry Smith revisited these memories many times. His sister, Fern Joy was a drunk who fell from the window of a hotel room. According to Capote, such drastic changes had lead Perry to some serious changes in which human life is not something important and is simply expendable. This book is the second of the two The Cat in The Hat books and it is full of silliness, messiness and despair on behalf of the narrator. However, some people try to analyse this children s book as an allegory of the Cold War. In the following paper, I will show why some people might think of The Cat in The Hat Comes Back as a Cold War Allegory although Dr. Seuss never indicated anything about this theory. Even though this is a children s book many people interpret the pink stains and their spread as representatives of the communism. Charles D. So Seuss himself denies the theory that The Cat in The Hat Comes Back hides a communistic message and indicates that the choice of colours was just a financial aspect. In conclusion, the interpretation of the pink stain as the Red Menace and the Voom as an atomic bomb is a possibility. But The Cat in The Hat Comes Back is a children s book and therefore not intended to make the readers politically aware since they are not interested in politics and do not understand the book in this way. There are many more books written by Seuss dealing with political topics which are much more obvious about the topic, so Seuss would not try to send a subtle message, which might not be understandable to ... Martin Guerre is a peasant who deserted his wife and family for many years. While Martin Guerre is gone, a man named Arnaud du Tilh arrives at Martin s village and claims to be Martin Guerre. Bertrande, who is Guerre s wife, Guerre s sisters, and many of the villagers, accepts the imposter. Davis is portraying how property had a great importance for peasants of certain villages and how it was a major part of their lives. Davis also mentions in the case of Sanxi that he could not have sold it easily if he had wanted to, for the Fors that is, the customs of the Labourd prohibited the alienation of patrimonial goods except in cases of dire necessity and then only with the consent of other interested kin (Davis 8). Sanxi s lack of option to sell his property, unless given approval by other family who are uninterested in the property, shows that in certain villages peasants were concerned with maintaining their property within their family. Davis also contrasts this social norm of family property with explaining the social norms when dealing with property in other villages. Sanxi moved to new village called Artigat. It is stated, What was really different from the Basque country was the way the land moved, both in inheritance and in sales. Here in the plain below the Pyrenees there was very little effort among the common people to hold the family property together (Davis 11). Davis is doing a successful job of portraying property as economic means but also as a way of social standing. Davis also focuses on the different social levels apparent in peasant life. ... Their biggest similarities are the plant and payoff technique, and meaningless quests the main characters embark upon. In The Maltese Falcon, a detective, Sam Spade, is tasked with finding a golden falcon by Brigid O Shaunessy. He is not told of the falcon until Brigid s former partner, Joel Cairo, offers to pay Spade for the falcon. Consequently, Spade discovers Brigid is lying to him about her identity, having originally given an alternate name. All the while, Spade doesn t know the falcon s location until a ship captain comes into Spade s office and dies, holding the falcon. This leads to Spade bargaining for the falcon, after which, the falcon is finally unwrapped, and discovered to be fake. The film concludes with Cairo setting off to try and track down the real falcon, and Spade left alone without the money he was promised for it. However, in Citizen Kane, the film starts off with Charles Kane dying on the floor of his mansion, saying rosebud. One of the most obvious of these is in the early detection and prevention of cyber threats. Using a visual analytic system, IT professionals can use software that will analyze large scale high dimensional cyber security datasets containing logs of a million computers (Chen, 2015). From this experiment, maleic acid has a lower melting point. Maleic acid s structure has two carboxylic acid groups on the same side of the double that are cis, meaning that the molecule will have a polarity as a whole. It is also seen that maleic acid is polar from its solubility, meaning that it was able to dissolve in water. Since the two carboxylic groups are on the same side of the double bond, the molecule becomes polar. Fumaric acid was seen to nonpolar from the experiments, showing that it was insoluble during the solubility test. This could be because the structure has a trans bond, which means that its two carboxylic groups are pulling in opposite directions. The two carboxylic groups make it more symmetrical, therefore the structure is less polar. Therefore, the molecule would be nonpolar because it cancels out any polarity. In the poems The Road Not Taken, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, and A Poison Tree, Frost and Wordsworth use the shallow image of a flower and the woods to symbolize a change of emotion and thought in one s life. Two roads diverging in different directions lead to an unknown destination because no one knows where the paths will take them. The two paths in the woods are symbolic for there being many choices in life. • 45. Fiduciary Acceptance Definition The fiduciary administration is the responsibility of the trustee for managing the trust property. The trustee has all of the powers over trust property that a legally competent, unmarried individual has with respect to individually owned property. But it is the beneficiaries, not the trustee, that bear the consequences of the trustee s exercise of these powers. Meanwhile, by making a transfer in testamentary trust rather than outright leave them to their heirs, a settlor ensures that the property will be managed and distributed in accordance with his wishes which expressed in the terms of the trust rather than the whims of the beneficiaries. A testamentary trust also allows the settlor to empower the trustee to decide how the trust property ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So there must be some measures to protect the beneficiaries from mismanagement or misappropriation by the trustee. In deciding whether and how to exercise the powers of the trusteeship, the trustee is subject to and must act in accordance with the trustee s fiduciary duties. The fiduciary duties come from the law of fiduciary administration, whose purpose is to induce the trustee to adhere to the terms of the trust and to act prudently and in the best interests of the beneficiaries. Trustees are subject to overarching fiduciary duties of loyalty and prudence. The fiduciary duties are the highest standard of care, at the same time, trustees have to be subject to a host of subsidiary duties, such as keeping adequate records and disclosing information about the trust to the beneficiaries. • 46. Theme Of Ethical Issues In Erin Brockovich Issues Raised In The Film Throughout the film, Erin Brockovich, there had been numerous matters and business practises raised in the film regarding the work of PG E and Erin s behaviour, etc. Most of these are seen through the perspective of Erin herself. Ethical Issues Professionalism Teamwork and Conflict Lack of Proper Management  General Management  Public Relations Management  Financial Management  Crisis Management Ethical Issues There are three main examples of PG E s unethical behaviour portrayed in the film. It cannot be confirmed that PG E Corporation headquarters (highest in business management) knew of the existence of the hexavalent chromium 6 in Hinkley, therefore I will not use that example. The other two examples also include PG E and show that PG E (the local business, not PG E headquarters) knew about the chemicals. There are other small ethical ... • 47. The Presentation of Women in La Belle Dame Sans Merci and... The Presentation of Women in La Belle Dame Sans Merci and Mariana Though both poems have the common theme of unrequited love, Keats and Tennyson assign very different characteristics to the women in their poems. In Mariana , the woman is submissive and a victim of cruelty, whereas La Belle Dame in La Belle Dame Sans Merci is the more powerful of the man and woman in the poem, and the one inflicting the cruelty. In both poems, the landscapes mirror these characteristics, and even the feelings of these two women. The landscape is also symbolic of Mariana, as she is mortal and will eventually die as plants die, and seasons change. She is therefore more naturalistic than the mysterious Belle Dame is. Her mystery is further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... La Belle Dame even rides the knight s pacing steed herself. This use of the landscape around La Belle Dame by Keats to help shape her character is also used in Mariana : From the dark fen the oxen s low Tennyson s use of pathetic fallacy portrays a depressed, low , Mariana. Especially Mariana s aversion to light associates her with death, or unhappiness, as opposed to life or happiness. However, perhaps even La Belle Dame is unhappy, as she is forced to spend her whole life abandoning men, without change. This is shown by the number of Kings and Princes she has wounded: pale Kings and Princes too, Pale warriors, death pale were they all. As there have been so many men ruined by her, it seems likely she has been doing the same thing all her life. The rhythm and shape of the poem could similarly reveal her endless life, as throughout there is a iambic tetrameter, until the last line of each verse where the rhythm is a iambic dimeter: Though the sedge is withered from the lake, And no ... • 48. How Is Mark Twain Racist When taking a look at Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn, racism is a large theme that seems to be reoccurring. What some may think to be racism in Twain s words, can also be explained as, good story telling appropriate to the era the story takes place in. Twain himself has been suggested as a racist based on the fact that he uses the word nigger in his book. However, Twain was an avid abolitionist. For those who claim that Twain was a racist must have only been looking out for themselves and not those who are willing to learn about the past whether it be ugly or perfect. Racism was and forever will be a dark part of the American past, and no one can change that, no matter how many books one may alter. In this book a number of dialects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main focus is to replace the 219 times the word nigger is used with slave. One would doubt that Twain would input the N word into his book without having a good reason to do so. At the time of writing this book, the Civil War was over and the general thought was that slavery and racism was over. The thought then leads to the fact that Twain wanted to make a point of letting readers know that, just because you have abolished slavery does not mean that the racism and bigotry has gone with it. The repel of slavery made no difference to the racism card, and he wanted his Northern readers to know it. When the argument of replacing the word nigger with slave one sees the issue with that. The issue being that nigger in that time meant African American, not necessarily a slave. So looking at a high school or college student in the future reading Huckleberry Finn for the first time and reading is with the word slave the story loses its effect on the reader. It does not give a sense of the time, it would only give a vibe that something is not right in the story. When reading this story for the first time, one must have an open mind and not pay attention to little things like racism in this book. The main plot is not, lets raft down a river and see how racist we can be. As one reads the story flows, and part of that flow is to allow discrepancy in racial slurs. It is okay to have the ... • 49. Bible Beliefs In The Bible In the beginning, God created the Earth and everything on it. He also created man and woman, Adam and Eve, who disobeyed him or one would say sinned against Him (The Catholic Study Bible, Genesis 3:6). Although Adam and Eve disobeyed God, His love and mercy for them was so much that he forgave them. Abraham also sinned, yet God forgave him. Isaac, son of Abraham, followed God s commandments and was faithful to Him. Isaac prayed to God to ask to allow his wife, Rebekah, to conceive (The Catholic Study Bible, Genesis 25:21). God answered Isaac s prayer because He knows what s best and because of His love for Isaac. Jacob, son of Isaac, deceived his brother and father to receive the blessing (The Catholic Study Bible, Genesis 27: 5 29). This happened just as God said it would. It was the fulfillment of His word. The Israelites were God s chosen people, because He promised Abraham that his descendants would become a great nation (The Catholic Study Bible, Genesis 12:3). God fulfills His promise and protects the Israelites because of His love and mercy He has towards humanity. Throughout my life there have been many obstacles I ve had to face, but the Bible verses of John 3:16, Romans 8:18, and Philippians 4:13 helped me get through those difficult times. There are three definite moments in my life where I don t think I could have gotten through it without the Gospel, which are when my sister passed away, my first heart break, and when I didn t like the way I looked. When I was twelve years old my older sister died. This was a very difficult time for me because I lost my best friend and I was still young, so I didn t comprehend it fully. The days following her death I was extremely sad and lonely. I felt like I couldn t talk to my parents because I didn t want to make them sad and I couldn t talk to my friends, because they didn t understand what I was going through. So, that s when I made the choice to pick up my Bible and look for some comfort. As I read through, the main verse that stuck out to me was John 3:16, which was also my sister s favorite. John 3:16 states, For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life (The Catholic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
