##ity And Intimacy In Ernest Hemingway s In Our Time
Ernest Hemingway grasps the intimacy and authenticity of human relationships, in his book, In Our
Time. The book consists of short stories following the lives of different individuals. Few of the short
stories include The End of Something, Mr. and Mrs. Elliot, Cat in the Rain, and The Doctor and The
Doctor s Wife. Through these short stories, relationships between male and female characters, lack
meaningful intimacy. There is a disconnect amongst these couples. Hemingway redefines intimacy
and what it means. Intimacy goes beyond sex; it is a bond between individuals. He is depicting two
forms of intimacy through his characters. One form of intimacy is emotional intimacy, which is
portrayed in the male characters. The other form would be sexual intimacy. Thus, Hemingway is
changing our perception of intimacy; it is not only found in male and female relationships, but also in
friendships. The bond between the male characters is more meaningful and stronger than the female
and male relationships.
Furthermore, Hemingway explores the absence of emotional intimacy in the male and female
relationships. In The Doctor and The Doctor s Wife, the couple that is portrayed are the doctor and his
wife. The theme of isolation is prevalent in this story. For example, Aren t you going back to work,
dear? asked the doctor s wife from the room where she was lying with the blinds drawn (Hemingway
25). From this example, it is clear that the wife is in her own room. Given another example,

A Crisis Of Character By Jody Williams
A Crisis of Character American political activist Jody Williams once said There s a mythology that if
you want to change the world, you have to be sainted like Mother Teresa or Archbishop Desmond
Tutu. But ordinary people with lives that go up and down and around in circles can still contribute to
change. In an excerpt from his essay Why Bother? published in the New York Times Magazine,
American public intellectual Michael Pollan reveals his goal to convince ordinary American citizens
that they are capable of changing their behavior in order to reduce America s carbon footprint.
Through the use of the four rhetorical elements situation, purpose, claim, and audience, Pollan aspires
to have his readers gain a greater understanding that the environmental crisis is at heart a crisis of
character (Pollan 766). However, although Pollan targets the correct audience to carry out his purpose,
he fails to provide proper evidence to support his claim that individual contribution matters.
Pollan states that the situation that first motivated him to write about his distress over the state of the
environment came from a televised lecture made by American politician and environmentalist Al
Gore, entitled An Inconvenient Truth. The documentary was intended to raise awareness about the
dangers of global warming and encourage people to take appropriate action to successfully reverse
climate change. Pollan recalls that the really dark moment [of the lecture] came during the closing

Causes Of The African Water Crisis
The average American uses about 176 gallons of water in one single day, while in Africa, 660 million
people see just one sip as a luxury, states Kristen Lewis in the article entitled THIRST for the 2016
Scholastic Scope. Without water, people cannot carry out daily activities and struggle to survive. The
water crisis in Africa is an expanding problem in our world that continues to affect millions of people
each day; fortunately, this crisis has caught the attention of The Water Project, a nonprofit organization
in the United States that raises money to solve water crises around the world. The Africa water crisis
has come about due to several factors that create negative outcomes for the citizens of Africa, but The
Water Project is doing all they can to resolve these issues. There are a variety of causes held
responsible for the water crisis in Africa. These causes have been taken from African s control and
desperately need to be solved. Climate change is one of the countless reasons that there is a high
demand for water in Africa. An article entitled Africa s Water Crisis Deepens written for the 2006
News Scientist, states that Drought, famine and spreading deserts have plagued Africa for the past 30
years. With the expansion of desertification, the process in which land becomes increasingly dry with
little to no water resources, areas of land have dried out and are useless to humans due to the lack of
rainfall on the African continent over the past several years.

Cancerous Brain Tumors
Tumors are an area of swelling in a part of the both that does not always create inflammation. These
tumors are usually created by an irregular growth of the tissue. There are two individual kinds of
tumors, one called malignant, which is cancerous and the other benign, which is noncancerous. There
aren t any environmental factors that can usually cause either one of these tumors. Genetic disease
although, can cause certain tumors that can overpower the genes that stop the formation of tumors. A
genetic disease such as neurofibromatosis type 2 can be a prominent cause of a cancerous brain tumor.
Malignant tumors are harmful to the body and need immediate action. They have an absence of a
border and metastasize by growing in different parts of the body once they have traveled throughout
the vascular system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even benign tumors have a risk of causing damage to the brain through either compression
or infiltration.
A tumor in the brain is dangerous if it starts to compress parts of the brain causing neurological
symptoms. This action can destroy the brain tissue it surrounds or it can block fluid in the brain from
flowing. Although it is not cancerous it can also compress parts of the spinal cord depending where it
is in the brain and can also stop the flow of blood in veins surrounding it.
Some symptoms of brain tumors can be someone experiencing a seizure for the first, usually occurring
in older patients. Because the all areas of the brain are what control the functions of the body, certain
areas where the brain tumor is located may cause gradual speech impairments, or physical
impairments such as difficulty walking. A lesser symptom of brain tumors would be headaches that
can be caused by compression of the tissue which can occur in any age of a patient with this type of

Memory Retention Research Paper
Research: Memory retention is essential to all human beings. It is a fundamental function of our brain:
whether it be memorizing people s names, memorizing math formulas, or memorizing the location of
the car keys. We all recognize the importance of memorization and we all seek ways to improve our
memory retention skills. Many different parts of the brain control a person s memory, but the most
important part is the frontal lobe. It controls working and short term memory. Due to the processes of
stimulus of the sensory memory which transmits to the frontal lobe, people can, on average, recall 7
items after looking at them for 15 seconds. Neuroscience journal In the frontal lobe, encoding, storage,
and retrieval occur in an effort to not lose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The beneficial activity of walking also causes an improvement of creativity according to Dr. Oppezzo
of Stanford University. Dr. Oppezzo created a matched pair experimental design using undergraduate
student volunteers as subjects that tests the variable of walking versus sitting and inside walking
versus outside walking. he conducted 3 experiments in which she compared tests of GAU (creative
divergent thinking) and CRA (convergent thinking) using the variables of walking on a treadmill,
sitting, walking then sitting, sitting then walking, sitting twice, and outdoors walking. For her last test
she compared tests of creative analogy generation with the variables of sitting inside, walking on a
treadmill inside, walking outside, and rolling on a wheelchair outside. In all of her findings, she saw
an increase in creativity following or during the physical activity of walking. The increase in creativity
she found was also independent of location of the test, meaning that being outdoors did not help or
hinder memory retention skills when compared to results from indoors. This suggests that some
physical aspect of walking stimulates the brain s memory system. But, more research needs to be
conducted to understand the biological cause of this effect, which Dr. Oppezzo calls acute. She is
unable to provide any scientifically based answers to the results of her experiment because it is still
unclear

Montgomery´s Bus Boycott Essay
Commonly, Rosa Park s arrests for refusing to yield her seat on a bus for a White man is a popular
misconception of being the primary stimulant that kindled the uproar of the historical boycott of
Montgomery s buses known today. Contrarily, unprecedented, racially provoked violence, and
discriminative and segregated events prior to Parks conviction motivated leaders to organize their
communities for the challenge to break barriers of government s disregards to Negro s rights and race
equality. Parks was the catalyst that spread to the community for the immediate need for change.

However, many constituents turned activists back then participated in the actions of not taking any
public transportation so they can get the recognition of their magnitude in society from the counter
race. Consequently, the success of the word of mouth mission for equality enforced Montgomery
federal court ruled that any law requiring racially segregated seating on buses violated the 14th
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. That amendment, adopted in 1868 following the American Civil
War (1861 65), guarantees all citizens, regardless of race, equal rights and equal protection under state
and federal laws. The city appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld the lower court s
decision on December 20, 1956. Montgomery s buses were integrated on December 21, 1956, and the
boycott ended. It had lasted 381 days. Obviously, the steady involvements of community members led
to their victory, proved people can exercise their First Amendment rights in a civil manner, and
effectively execute an imperative mission such as boycott or sit ins. Second, it s not what you say it s
how you say it. In the scenario of civil rights issues, it was more of who said it. Historical civil rights

Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet
Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they
have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo
and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in
the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this
time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return.
Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo
had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine
covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family
with not as much money as Juliet s. There was also a social class where the Duke and Duchess held
the most power and the peasants had the least power. Juliet s family ... Show more content on

One of those instances is at the end of the play when Juliet uttered, ...drunk all, and left no friendly
drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips; haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to make die with
a restorative. . By uttering this, it shows how she was wanting so badly to be with Romeo that she
would take her life to do so. If she didn t find happiness from their relationship and him she would
never have done what she did, or things would have at least ended differently. The most tragic part
about Romeo and Juliet is that their death and that they end through death. Their impulsive decision
making, and anger towards their families guided their actions. Today, everyone is able in a way to
relate to Romeo and Juliet at some point, by going through the process of being in love . Love is able
to make your decision making impaired, since what you do is to please the love you have and share

Complications During Birth
Chapter four had very interesting information when it came to prenatal care, complications during
birth and, new mothers. The first main point is prenatal care which is very important for the mother.
When the mother is on her first trimester they have many benefits, they will learn on what they have
to eat and what they have to do also what they have to avoid. The second main point, is the
complications of birth. Any birth can be complicated but young mothers can be more at risks during
childbirth. Also by a baby being breech it can cause a emergency c section where the mother is rushed
to the emergency room and is having a c section. Breech is when the child is not in the position that
he/she has to be, their head has to be down in order

The Biology Of Early Life Stages Of Fish Development
Understanding the biology of early life history stages of fish is essential for effective fisheries
management (Mwaluma et al., 2014; Hames Hichford, 2005). For example, knowledge in fish
development such as ontogenetic intervals and embryonic and larval development of fish species is a
prerequisite to set the policies for their conservation and stock enhancement through larviculture
(Rahman et al, 2009; Yanes Roca et al., 2012; Amini et al., 2015; Andrade et al., 2016). Furthermore,
the mechanisms that affect the survival during the early life stages of fish can regulate the future year
class strength (Mwaluma et al., 2014; Garrido et al., 2009). Consequently, estimated variability in
abundance of fish eggs and larval survival rate can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Larval stages are followed by a transformation stage during which individuals transform to juveniles,
which morphologically resemble adults (Osse et al., 1997). Anatomical, physiological, and behavioral
changes such as dentition, feeding behavior, and swimming capacity allow various larval stages to
attain new capabilities for biological activities, which in turn enable them to utilize their new
environmental conditions (Moteki, 2002, Moteki et al., 2002; Pena and Dumas, 2009).
Identification of eggs and newly hatched larvae have been proven difficult due to having little or no
resemblance to their adult stages, considerable overlap in the time and location of spawning among
multiple fish species, similarity in morphology of eggs among species, small size, and quick changes
in shapes during larval stage (Victor et al., 2009; Ko et al., 2013; Amini et al., 2015).
In the present study, we also aimed to describe the larval characteristics of fish species in Southern
Caspian Sea based on morphometric and meristic variables and pigmentation patterns. Several
ichthyoplankton surveys have been carried out in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, located on coastal
waters of Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan and Sistan Balochistan provinces, Iran (Rabbaniha, 1998;

Mother Teresa won around 126 awards in her lifetime, but one of the most known ones was the Nobel

Mother Teresa worked as a teacher at St. Mary high school Calcutta, India in 1931 and soon got
promoted to principal in 1944 (soft schools.com, 2005), during this time she would see the the people
outside the school poor, suffering and living on the streets. Her heart then felt that this is how she
wanted to help by serving the poorest of poor. Mother Teresa got permission from the pope to leave
and go to learn more about how to care for the sick and suffering, she went to Patna, India to receive a

passengers with drivers that use their personal vehicles through a mobile platform. Some of the most
popular ride sharing companies include the well known Uber, Lyft, and Wingz s. The packleader of
them all, Uber, has recently been challenged by the government, taxi companies, and their own drivers

Ridesharing companies claims that with their programs such as Uberpool and Lyft Line, it can actually
be beneficial for the environment. As the name implies, Uberpool is a carpooling method based on
splitting fares with people going to the same place as you. It s environmentally efficient by having less
cars on the road because it reduces single rider fares, resulting in less harmfull emissions (Uber).
According to Amanda Eaken, a director of transportation and climate at the National Resource
Defense Council, 40 percent of emissions in California is from transportation. Additionally, along with
the main ideas from A Struggle to Govern the Commons, more emissions raise the atmospheric
concentrations of CO2, a known greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. So with this,
UberPool and Lyft Line may actually make an effect on helping the environment. However there are
limitations to this, it is not currently based by any research, just a theoretical hypothesis. Fortunately,
some scientific research is on the way. Eaken, along with Professor Susan Shaheen from UC Berkeley
s Transportation Sustainability Research Center, is creating a scientific study on the true
environmental effects of ridesharing companies. They will compile research from data directly from

Application Of Low Power Integrated Intelligent Sensors
2 Research Motivation and Significance Applications of low power integrated intelligent sensors [1 8]
have been prolific in recent years, including, for instance, in environmental observation [9 11],
security surveillance [12, 13], infrastructure monitoring and communication [14 17], and biomedical
health care monitoring [18 21]. In particular, as the baby boomers approach retirement age, medical
expenses become significant. For example, in 2014, health care accounted for 28% of US federal
spending [22]. One major problem with current health care systems is that sensing and processing
medical data require significant resources. To alleviate this problem, wearable medical devices [23 27]
are expected to provide automatic monitoring and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The design challenges of the aforementioned intelligent sensors originate from their high density
circuits, especially DSP circuits performing multiply and accumulate (MAC), i.e., adders and
coefficient multipliers (DSP algorithms usually involve many MAC operations), which require a large
circuit area and high power consumption. This is one of the most critical problems in integrated
intelligent sensor design. For example, in [34] a seizure detector consumed more than 50% of the
circuit area and power in a System on a Chip (SOC), even though an advanced lookup table (LUT)
method was applied, which saved more than 50% of the total gate count in the digital filters [35]. The
power cost of the chip may require battery replacement every six hours, which is not convenient or
feasible for many patients. Essentially, the large circuit area and high power consumption of MAC
circuits limit system performance and raise chip costs. Medical applications generally require higher
resolution and higher reliability, which only exacerbates the problem. One promising solution to the
above challenges is Delta Sigma technology. A Delta Sigma Modulator (DSM) converts an analog
input signal to a 1 bit Delta Sigma modulated digital bit stream, as shown in Fig. 2 (a). Compared with
conventional multi bit binary systems, the Delta Sigma system has several advantages: (1) a Delta
Sigma bit stream can

Essay on Atlantis Intrigues a Teen
Plato much believed that the civilization of Atlantis existed (Writer873). The origins of Atlantis are
written in Plato s Critias and Timaeus (Plato). Written around 350s B.C., the main character Solon,
travels to Egypt and learns of Atlantis by priests (Writer873). He claimed his dialogues to be true
records (Atlantis Subplots). Timaeus explains Atlantis was the island situated in front of the straits,
which are by you called Pillars of Herakles; the island was larger than Libya and Asia put together
(Plato). It goes on further Atlantis was a great wonderful empire which had rule over the whole island

The secrets, including the culture, of Atlantis are fascinating in the way Plato illustrates the city.
Atlanteans were far more advanced than any civilization during their time, not to be mistaken with
Atlanteans being more advanced than any civilization during our time. Atlantis culture is explained in
Critias by a great amount within it s pages and it is extraordinary how the people behaved so civil and
orderly back then. The first thing the reader will learn in reading Critias is Atlantis is ancient, ancient
as in 9000 years (Plato). It s no wonder Atlanteans became far more advanced than Athenians and
other neighboring ancient cities. The empire had time to form a stable society and conduct new ways
to make life easier. The other detail in Critias is Athens was in command one side and fought through
the whole war, and in command of the other side were the kings of the island of Atlantis (Plato).

She describes Mandan s migration, their daily life, and the cultural characteristics of Manda, such as
festivals, as well as the pathogens of the society from hundreds of year ago. However, because
Mandan always welcome foreign immigrants and it had succeeded in international commercial status
because of these immigrant traders and explorers who brought businesses to Mandan, they also
brought disease. In 1991 , when they first suffered a smallpox injury, Mandan s life changed. The
Mandan comprised approximately 13 clans after the plague there were seven. This led to the decline
of Mandan. It is resulting in the spread of colonial disease, especially when those diseases such as
smallpox, measles, and pertussis were in the wave of epidemics outbreaks and repeated outbreaks of
toxic diseases. This was one of the main reasons for the fading of Mandan. These colonial diseases
from the outside destroyed Mandan step by step.
Fenn described Mandan through archeology, anthropology, geology, climatology, epidemiology, and
other important findings of Mandan and linked these to review their history. The disease and
motorboat are the main reasons for the decline of Mandan. Fenn bemoans that the result for the
Mandan people is a tragedy. As Fenn said, the Mandan people had their own unique tradition, but that
no longer exists, because it is interspersed with international history of the heat of the world of
international events.

Hip Hop Masculinity
Connecting Masculinity to Hip Hop as an entire movement Hip Hop originated in the 1970 s, and
during that period the genre was known as a means through which African Americans could speak
their minds and state their opinions and concerns about important issues in their communities and
society. However hip hop has immensely changed since its creation to what it is now, as a result of its
profit oriented nature. Even though a few aspects of the original old school hip hop are still recognized
and practiced in today s mainstream rap, the genre as a whole has come to be known for revolving
around the common themes of violence, drug use, promiscuity, fashion, and materialism. In reality,
today s mainstream hip hop is based on the beliefs of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Female MC s accept a variety of different fashion trends and masculine mannerisms in hip hop,
whether it s the hyper sexuality in their lyrics or music videos or they are taking on masculine
personas. Female MC s like Da Brat are known for their more masculine appearances. Typically, other
female MC s often take the other route. The success rate of music in the hip hop industry has been
proven to tie into hyper sexualized images and female MC s are forced to comply with the sexism of
the genre. These women do this by referring to themselves and other women as bitches , and hoes
along with explicitly talking about sexual acts and fantasies. However, most of these sexual fantasies
are in the male s perspective. Female MC s also give in to the superficial beliefs of the genre. For
example, rapper Nicki Minaj collaborated with Drake in the song Up all Night, where she bragged, I

mixtape? That was just a keepsake. Bought the president the Louie presidential briefcase (Minaj,

masculinity; they completely mimic the behaviors of male

Moses In The Land Of Goshen
Moses, son of Abraham and Jochebed, was born in the Land of Goshen, modern day Egypt. At the
time due to the law that the Pharaoh had put in place all first born children of the Israelites had to be
drowned in the Nile River to prevent children from growing up and retaliating against the Pharaoh
himself. Moses was put in the Nile, but wasn t drowned. Jochebed couldn t drown her own son so she
put him in a basket and let him float down the Nile. As he floated by the Pharaoh s estate, the
Pharaohs daughter rescued him from the Nile and named him, and thus he was raised by Egyptian
royalty. At the beginning of the book of Exodus Moses speaks to G d through the burning bush, where

This becomes more evident when Moses marries, Zipporah, a woman from the Midianites (Exodus

Freud argues that the Israelite genealogy of Moses roots was only created to mask the true Egyptian
roots of Moses. The Promised Land was promised to the Israelites and the death of Moses at the hands
of G d may be a way of sending a message to the people of Israel. By killing Moses, the leader of the
people for the past 40 years, G d is communicating to the people that even someone with very little
Egyptian heritage doesn t deserve to live in the Promised Land, no matter how important they ve been
to the freedom of the Israelites. This hypothesis would argue that Moses was killed by G d purely to
send a message to the people of Israel to prove how privileged they are to be permitted into the
Promised Land, creating an extreme sense of

Stereotypes In Hailee Steinfeld s Most Girls
Can I be a girl without wearing the stereotypical girly clothes? Hailee Steinfeld s song Most Girls
talks about the two types of girls that exist. The first one is the girly girl that wear cute items:
skirts, dresses, heels, tight clothing, and piercings on the body. She is very pretty since she wears make
up, while the second on is a tomboy that dresses casual clothes, doesn t care what they wear, and is
most likely bisexual or lesbian. She defines these types by their wardrobe, actions, and how they want
to succeed in life through their own unique way. Society tells them that is how a girl should portray
herself. No matter how you act or dress, at the end of the day you are a girl and no one can tell you
otherwise. The artist is a female and her style can be girly and tomboyish because that s who she is.
When I first heard this song I felt like I was finally understood that I am a girl without those
stereotypes. This song helped me realize I should be comfortable with myself and knowing not all
girls, like myself, feel that they have to live up to the stereotypical expectation of being a girly girl and
shouldn t define by any stereotypes, free to live by her own expectation, not society. First time I heard
this song on the radio I was filled with so much enjoyment thinking it was my birthday and the
attention was all on me. I thought back to when I was a kid, I hated wearing skirts, dresses, Skorts
(shorts attach under a skirt) and wearing cute petite shoes. I was forced to wear these items, but mostly
I wore T shirts, jeans, sweats, and Chuck Taylor Converse in white, black, gray, black and white all the
time. I felt wearing sweatpants, looking like a princess was the person I felt comfortable as. My
grandma hated taking me shopping because I never wanted to go to the extremely girly section. I felt
like I was in a world of bubble gum with so much pink, unicorns, and all that girly stuff. I do not hate
pink, but I m not too fond of it. She tried to shape me into this cute little girl who loves dolls, pink,
and everything girly like my sister. I am not a little doll that she commands to wear and do whatever
she wants. I didn t know how to be the proper girl my grandma wanted me to be because I was

The Prevalence Of Gestational Diabetes
According to the American Diabetes Association, the prevalence of gestational diabetes is as high as
9.2% in pregnant women due to obesity or being overweight. Not only can it be harmful to the mother,
but it can also be harmful to her baby. Gestational diabetes can increase the chances of pregnant
women delivering a baby that weighs more than 9 pounds. Having gestational diabetes can also
increase the mother s chance for needing a cesarean section delivery. Some other risk factors that the
mother can be a candidate for developing gestational diabetes by is having a family history of diabetes
(especially if a parent or sibling has diabetes) and having gestational diabetes in previous pregnancies.
Pregnant women don t need to have had diabetes before in order to develop gestational diabetes. They
can just have high blood glucose levels during pregnancy to get gestational diabetes. There is a
process in which the baby has to go through inside their mother s womb. The placenta is what
supports the baby as it grows. Hormones from the placenta help the baby develop. But these hormones
also block the action of the mother s insulin in her body. This problem is called insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance makes it hard for the mother s body to use insulin. She may need up to three times
as much insulin. Gestational diabetes starts when your body is not able to make and use all the insulin
it needs for pregnancy. Without enough insulin, glucose cannot leave the blood and be

Quarterback Analysis
Let me preface this editorial by saying that this is by far the longest position preview of this series.
Quarterback is by far the deepest position group in fantasy football, and you only draft one or two of
them, so hitting on a consistent producer who can deliver high point totals is crucial for your fantasy
title hopes. I would feel comfortable with starting, or having on my team, most of the quarterbacks
that inhabit the first four tiers below. That said, if I pass on the top guys, which is likely, I ll most
likely draft two QB s that I think can be good and platoon them until one emerges as the guy. This
could be a strategy you could use in most formats, unless your league s scoring favors quarterbacks or
you re in a two quarterback league. If you re in a standard league, I would recommend waiting to
select a quarterback until later in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They re widely ranked next to each other in various preseason quarterback rankings, and since some
idiot in your league picked Blake Bortles in front of them, you ll likely have the luxury of being one of
the later drafters to take a quarterback, meaning you can take one of them while also making the rest
of your roster title worthy. Whether they are up, down or tied, both Manning and Rivers have coaching
staffs that love to throw the ball They throw all day everyday. Rivers has proven he can perform at an
elite level with a patchwork combination of weapons and a terrible offensive line. Last year, with a
terrible line, an infirmary at wide receiver and Danny Woodhead, Rivers balled out. Manning plays the
Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys twice, none of which are expected to be elite or even average on
defense, which is where I give him the edge over Rivers. Rivers twice has to go against the top two
fantasy defenses from last year, the Broncos and Chiefs, while also playing a Raiders team that is
expected to be in the top half of the league on that side of the

Disadvantages Of Strawberry Legs
Strawberry legs: Spoiler! How to get rid of it?
What Are Strawberry Legs?
Try observing a strawberry. Do you see the small seeds they have? You can notice black pores on your
legs after shaving that look similar. That is why this condition is called strawberry legs. Sometimes the
pores are hardly noticeable, and other times, they are so conspicuous that you start feeling self
conscious to show off your legs.
What are the causes of strawberry legs? Listed below are some potential causes of dark spots on legs:
Sun Exposure
Sun exposure is the top cause of dark spots on legs and other exposed parts of the skin. Our skin
contains special cells called melanocytes. These cells produce a pigment called melanin.
Melanin determines the color of our skin, eyes, and hair. Dark skinned individuals, for example, have
higher levels of melanin in the skin than their counterparts with light skin. Melanin also helps to
protect the skin against sun damage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because melanin is not always produced uniformly, a condition known as hyperpigmentation often
occurs.
This is manifested by dark spots on legs and other parts of the body. These spots are referred to as sun
spots, age spots, liver spots, or solar lentigines. Hyperpigmentation can affect anyone regardless of the
race or skin color.
Hormonal changes e.g. during pregnancy tend to enhance hyperpigmentation. It is thus even more
imperative to protect your skin while pregnant.
Aging
For most people, old age means years of accumulated sun damage. This usually manifests itself in
dark spots on legs, arms, and other exposed parts of the skin in old age. These patches tend to appear
after 40 years. They can occur on any exposed part of the skin including the lower

CDHPs have developed in prevalence since their origin, now selecting around 17 percent of
individuals with superintendent supported protection. All things considered, CDHPs have lessened
human services spending, with investment funds extending from 5 to 14 percent. Investment funds are
driven fundamentally by decreases in spending on pharmaceuticals and outpatient visits, and are
concentrated among healthier enrollees. While a few studies find that CDHP enrollees lessen the
utilization of medicinal services benefits aimlessly, different studies find that the diminishments are
fundamentally among visits for low seriousness conditions. There is no confirmation on the impact of

Theory Critique of Crabb and Hawkins Essay
Theory Critique of Crabb and Hawkins

Dr. Crabb suggests that there are four viewpoints to integrating spirituality and psychology. The first
being Separate but Equal This viewpoint ascertains that psychology and spirituality do not mix any
more than if a person needs a filling for a cavity or the excising of their wisdom teeth, they do not
peruse the scripture for direction the person goes to a dentist. This view is not solid for its very
premise is flawed. When dealing with man s troubling emotions and thinking scripture has much to

Dr. Hawkins model for the counseling process and the description of the person is diagrammed using
concentric circles (Hawkins, 2011). The first layer is where the core is: human spirit, image of God
etc. The second layer consists of the soul thoughts, will, conscience, feeling. The third layer consist of
the body. The fourth layer consists of temporal systems such as family, friends, church, society,
government, economy, and education. The fifth layer consists of supernatural systems such as: God,
good angels, demons, and Satan.
Hawkins uses a four phase model grid for tracking process. Phase1 is where the counselor listens to
the person talk and seeks to understand. Phase 2 is where one tracks what the patient is saying and sets
the direction and proposes a plan of action. In phase 3 one directs the plan of action from the
information provided and seeks to have client take ownership. In phase 4 one supports the
commitments to change through arranging for accountability. All of this takes place in an atmosphere

Voting In The United States
In American history, voting has been a direct involvement of the public with the government. Patterns
based on the structure of voting have emerged to demographically section the voting population.
Scholars have found that these voting patterns can be followed by studying the political activity of
different religious groups. From the 1960s to our most recent elections, voting patterns among these
groups have fluctuated as well as stayed constant. The reason for such changes, or lack thereof, can be
credited to a number of social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and other major secular
controversies as well as the historical context from where their political decisions arise. These patterns
show that some people experience pressure from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Process I
Today I will be talking about the research I did on quick change methodology. This is a very
fascinating and important topic for the machining process in all plants across the world. The topics
that will be covered in this paper are as follows defining quick change methodology and tooling for
machining with an overview history and recent advancements, SMED overview history and recent
advancements, then a compare and contrast of quick change methodology and SMED, and to wrap up
the paper I will illustrate how I can use this information to improve a manufacturing process I am
familiar with. These were great research topics and I learned a ton of great valuable information that
would be very useful in future endeavors.
First I will talk about defining quick change methodology and tooling for machining with an overview
history and recent advancements. It is a modular system that allows tools to be changed rapidly on a
machine during the initial part setup and the tool change after a tool is worn out. The system radically
decreases machine downtime for tool change for the duration of setup changes. It is also for changing
worn out inserts during machining. Normally a tool is fastened by putting it into a slot in the turret and
tightening screws to hold it resolutely. With doing this older process of fastening the tool, extreme
care must be taken to seat the holder correctly against existing

Human Right Act, 1998
We should learn to accept people for who they are, what they believe in, their cultures and lifestyle
choices. We should also accept individuals as unique persons by treating them with respect and
dignity; by identifying their needs and preferences. Without these, it may lead to labelling or name
calling and derogatory remarks. Victims of domestic violence in refugee and ethno cultural
communities which are not mainstream, often face additional challenges and barriers in escaping the
domestic violence they are experiencing. Religion plays a vital role in that factor. Everybody has the
right to worship whichever way they want to worship. Human Right Act, 1998. Vulnerable people

The San Diego Quick Assessment
At the middle school level, it is difficult to administer extensive interminable assessments, when you
are trying to determine readability for over 100 students. Many middle school teachers rely on the
NWEA/MAP assessment and Standard of Learning to provide them with their student s Lexile levels
and readability. The problem with using data from the NWEA/MAP assessment and SOL scores is that
teachers only have data from the previous year and are unable to assess the factors that contributed to
the students testing scores. A quick and easy assessment that can be given the first week of school,
which takes 10 minutes or less and shows word recognition as well as readability is the San Diego
Quick Assessment. The San Diego quick assessment was originally devised by Margaret La pray and
Ramon Ross and published in the Journal of Reading in 1969, as a quick way to gauge a student s
readability. Words were selected for 13 grade level, Pre Primer through 11th grade by drawing words
randomly from basal reader glossaries. (Blackley) Words were also drawn from the glossaries of basic
readers and from 1931 Teacher s Word Book of 20,000 Words by E.L. Thorndike. According, to
Margaret La Pray and Ross the San Diego Quick Assessment has two uses, to determine a reading
level and to detect errors in word analysis. The test can also be used to group students for corrective
practice or to select appropriate reading materials for those students. The San Diego Assessment

within five weeks, the war kicked off. Nobody wanted the U.S. to even get involved, not even the
president who at that time was Woodrow Wilson, and he definitely wanted to stay out of the messing

as mobile phones, cars, televisions and washing machines cannot meet rising global demand. Dambisa
Moyo We have a global supply and demand balance that is out of equilibrium. As economies develop
and more citizens gain higher wages their discretionary incomes rise with it. With that rise brings
generational waves of new buyers to the world economy at a rates that have not been seen before.
When the India s or China s populations of over 1 billion have more urban middle income citizens
than rural low income citizens those people need more things to find a happy life. Define
overpopulation. Why do some people believe there are too many people on Earth? Overpopulation is
an undesirable condition where the number of existing human population exceeds the carrying
capacity of Earth. Some believe there are too many people on Earth because the more people we have
the more resources we need to use to support them, there will be less jobs to support an outsized
population for developing nations, and the need for limited or scarce resources will lead to more
conflicts with a greater possibility of those conflicts leading to war. What are the causes of
degradation of the environment? Explain. The causes of environmental degradation are: Land damage
caused by invasive species of plants. These plants can take advantage of disruptions

Dr. Mannix Brief Summary
Dr. Mannix Summary Sheet
A Basic Biography
Dr Mannix was originally head of the Maynooch College in Ireland before moving to Melbourne,
Australia in 1913 as Coadjutor to Archbishop Thomas Carr. He was outspoken about Catholics being
denied the right of religious education and his main goal became to receive justice in this area.
Mannix rejected compromise and encouraged Catholics to be assertive of their beliefs. Within a year
of Dr. Mannix s arrival he gained a substantial amount of public attention to Catholic Australians
oppression. Mannix was a strong supporter of Catholic Federation (1911 document that allowed
Catholics more freedom to speak of their beliefs. Aimed to unite Catholics with other Australians).
Mannix also supported Australia in war but opposed conscription, especially due to conflict between
Britain and Ireland (his and many Catholics original home) at the time.
Outline of their contribution to Christianity/religion in Australia
Dr Mannix contributed to religion in Australia by fiercely supporting the rights of Catholic Australians
being a major factor in the ability for children to now go to government supported Catholic schools in
today s society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often to strengthen a community, said community needs a spokesperson to reflect the group. Mannix
became that spokesperson for Catholics, especially those in Melbourne, as he was the Archbishop of
Melbourne. Not only did he build community, but he utilised the strong bonds in the community to
have demands met by politicians. He threatened to evoke the Catholic community s support of the
labour party unless took action for justice for Catholics. Mannix once said To reason with the average

The Theories And Techniques Of Psychoanalysis
Key Question 6 Sigismund Schlomo Freud was an Austrian neurologist, best known for developing
the theories and techniques of psychoanalysis. Freud was born in Freiberg on May 6th, 1856. Freud
and his family moved to Vienna when he was four years old. He lived and worked there for the
remainder of his life. After receiving his medical degree in 1881, he became engaged and later had 6
children of his own. His youngest daughter Anna, grew up to be a distinguished psychoanalyst herself.
After his graduation, Freud set up his own practise and began treating patients with various
psychological disorders. He considered himself a scientist rather than a doctor and he aspired to
understand the journey of human knowledge and experiences. Freud developed the psychosexual
theory and he believed there were five stages of development. Oral, anal, phallic, latent and genital.
The first stage, oral is from birth up until age one. In the first stage of personality development,
according to Freud, the libido is centered in a baby s mouth. The rooting and the sucking reflex is very
important. It gets much satisfaction from putting all sorts of things in its mouth to satisfy the libido,
and thus its id demands. Which at this stage in life are oral, or mouth orientated, such as sucking,
biting, and breast feeding. Stage number two is anal which is from age one up until age three. During
this stage, Freud believed that the main libido focus was controlling bladder and bowel movements.

Peer Pressure In George Orwell s Shooting An Elephant
Peer pressure s grasp reaches everybody daily. Too often people tend follow the crowd s decision
instead of maintaining their own morals. The guilt felt after conceding to a crowd s way of thinking
can crush a person. In a small Burmese town, a police officer feels pressure in a defining showdown
with an elephant. George Orwell reveals the consequences of caving into peer pressure through
imagery found in Shooting an Elephant.
The protagonist repeats over and over he does not want to shoot this elephant. The officer shows his
tender emotions towards elephants and depicts early on the grandmotherly air they possess. Orwell
conveys many times his unwillingness to shoot the elephant, and at one point he says the gun he grabs
to shoot it was much too small to kill an elephant. Subconsciously, he did not want this elephant to
die, so he grabs this small rifle just to stop the fear in the crowd. After it suffers for a while, Orwell s
sheds a light on his inner conflict with shooting the animal. His incapability of comprehending his
actions devastate him and he, could not stand it any longer and went away. ... Show more content on

He describes the day of the shooting as , the only time in my life that I have been important enough
for this to happen to me . The pressure felt by the British police officer from the inexorable crowd
growing every minute leads to his fatal shooting of the helpless elephant. He allays the idea of
massacring this animal. As Orwell loads up the elephant rifle and aims it at the beast, the crowd grew
very still, and a deep, low happy sigh... breathed from innumerable throats. The pull of the rifle s
trigger satisfies the crowd, and keeps him from the ignonimous judgement from the crowd. His
spontaneous call to action on this day in Burma causes him to act in accordance to the crowd s morals,

Richard Nixon Watergate Address Summary
The early 1970 s was a scandalous time for the United States. When thinking about scandals you
probably wouldn t be surprised that it would occur in a political science. The watergate scandal was a
major point for the U.S because it was hard to believe that our own president would have the
democratic campaign office raided. The burglars that were caught in the democratic campaign office
were connected to Nixon s reelection campaign movement. Even after it was revealed that he was
involved in the scandal , he was still loved by many americans. He used this to his advantage when he
addressing his resignation through a speech. His main focus of his speech was to make sure that the
american people knew that he was satisfied with the job that he had done. Nixon wanted to mask the
fact that resigning because of the watergate scandal . The american people didn t look at President

President Ford, I know, a that the leadership of America will be in good hands....responsibility that
will fall on his shoulders tomorrow and, therefore, of the understanding, the patience, the cooperation
he will need from all Americans . With the hope that the nation will continue to progress he appoints
his Vice President and while doing so he says that he wants Americans to support him. In the

Dennis Brink Research Paper
On a typically bleak and drizzly Seattle afternoon, the warm and charismatic, Dennis Brink entered
our home. He is like a ray of sunshine, on an early spring morning. His love for people and his love
for knowledge poured out of him like a fountain of truth. I was excited to interview him about his
coming of age experiences . Over the past year, I enjoyed small nuggets of his life stories. Whether
about his time in Vietnam, or his early childhood, he always has a story that is profound, and life
changing. I began to ask questions about his early life, and he carefully uncovered his past like a
bandage fastened to an open wound. Dennis Brink was born in Bellingham, WA on May 30th, 1947.
He grew up as the middle child, with an older brother and a younger sister. His father owned an
automobile repair shop, and his mother stayed home to raise the kids. Dennis s circumstances were far
from ideal, ...(being) raised in an alcoholic home had a huge effect... , he said with a sorrowful
expression. His father was unsuccessful, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At 12 years old, his father began leaving him in charge of his automobile repair shop. I got to do
things that were probably ahead of most kids today. With a smile on his face, he described how he
gained confidence from working in his Dad s shop, and how his community had a similar attitude
concerning responsibility. Those kids were growing up on the farm. My uncles at 8 years old, were
driving the cows 3 miles! My mother at 8, was babysitting her 2 year old brother! . This work in the
shop made Dennis feel as though he was growing up, and that he could handle himself like an adult.
The fact that his father was incredibly loose, and allowed him to work at such a young age, taught
Dennis about work ethic and responsibility. These experiences would make him the confident and
nimble leader he would need to be, later on in the Vietnam

The Water Crisis
Access to clean water is essential to overall human health and economic growth. Recent technologies
have made water access more universal, however there is still a large percentage of the world
population that lives without clean water. Nanotechnology is a promising field that may offer
sustainable solutions to the water crisis and allow the world to move toward universal access to clean
water.
Due to increasing demand for water, the world has been faced with a water crisis. The rising human
population and unsustainable environmental practices has made clean freshwater a rare commodity.
Developing countries are impacted the most by the water crisis. In the 20th century the global
population increased threefold and triggered a simultaneous sixfold increase in water use (Bogardi,
2012). Water usage has likely increased due to extended droughts, population growth, more strict
health regulations, and competing demands from a variety of users (Savage, 2005). Developed
countries like the United States have been able to keep up with the increasing water demands by
creating larger infrastructures and using legal means to regulate water consumption. However, many
developing countries lack the capital needed to create the infrastructures needed to provide clean
water. Additionally, developing countries often lack an impartial and efficient legal system that can
enforce water rights and water regulations. The water crisis has caused nearly one billion people to
live without access

Essay Reservoir Dogs
Reservoir Dogs
Was Tarantino, the right director at the right time? Was he too talented not to be noticed? Tarantino
was fortunate in one respect; his first film was embraced by cerebral critics as well as the national
publicity machine starved for new heroes.
In a few years, Tarantino evolved from an unemployed actor writer working in a video store to the
hottest American filmmaker. He has become a crucial figure, replacing Martin Scorsese as a role
model for young indie directors. Like Scorsese, Tarantino is a cineaste who knows movies inside out
and is deeply committed to the medium. Unlike Scorsese, though, Tarantino did not go to film school,
instead getting his education in a video ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no further financial worries, they finished Reservoir Dogs in time for Sundance Festival, where
it began its conquest of the festival circuit.
Reservoir Dogs swept through Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto like a brushfire. Distributors who saw
the film at Sundance were worried that it would end up with an NC 17 rating for its graphic violence,
which drove many viewers out of the theatre. That particular fear did not materialize, although
eventually the violence worked against the film s broader acceptance. Reservoir Dogs left Sundance
without winning any awards, but it became the festival s most talked about movie, and Miramax
decided to distribute it. Over the course of that year, Tarantino turned up at festival after festival,
receiving lavish praise from intellectual critics for making the hottest indie of the year. When the
movie finally opened, it played for only a few weeks despite critical support, confirming initial fears
that it was too violent. Miramax s sparse marketing resulted in a modest box office gross of $1
million. Lack of commercial appeal did not stop Reservoir Dogs attaining cult status within the
industry. Most of the press focused not on the movie or its issues but on Tarantino as a self taught
auteur. In the end, Tarantino did not promote Reservoir Dogs;

Peyton Approved Case Study
Peyton Approved is a family owned business that has experienced significant growth in bakery and
merchandise sales. As a result, Peyton Approved recently expanded into a new manufacturing facility
to increase overall production. The new facility has been in operation for three months with the move
out of a home based into a factory based operational mode, and it is essential to review the operational
budget. A quarterly review will ensure that appropriate planning, coordination, communication, and
benchmarking is performed so that the business is making the proper spending decisions, and that a
unified plan is created to meet overall business goals (Miller Nobles, Mattison, Matsumura, 2016). As
such, the operating budget and variances along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the materials efficiency variance was noted as unfavorable because 1,000 more units were used
than budgeted. Since materials efficiency variances result from a variety of causes, including materials
quality, spoilage, training, and equipment (Benge, n.d.). The next area to investigate are the labor
variances which showed the cost, while favorable, was a difference of $1.00 per hour. Further, the
efficiency was unfavorable, indicating that production required an additional 3,000 hours over budget,
which could be the result of staff training, faulty equipment, or low quality materials (Direct labor
efficiency variance explanation, formula, example, reasons. 2016). Since there appears to be a lower
cost of labor than anticipated, but higher materials and hourly utilization rate, it is possible that new
lower cost staff were hired resulting in slower production rates and elevated materials utilization. As
such, the production manager should be consulted to investigate the cause of these variances and to
put proper corrective actions into place (Miller Nobles et al.,

Neoliberalism Research Paper
Canada s previous conservative government signed a lucrative deal that would see the country export
$15 billion worth of light armored vehicles (LAVs) to Saudi Arabia. It is pertinent to note that Saudi
Arabia performs exemplarily poorly when it comes to observing human rights. The deal was struck
between the conservative government and Saudi Arabian National Guard, which mainly protects the
royal family. With a past record of consistently mistreating citizens with unpopular views, there is
little guarantee that the arms sale will not be used to violate innocent civilians human rights in the
future. Intriguingly, the current liberal government has declared its unwillingness to suspend the
shipment. This paper explores realist and neo liberal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the government has consistently failed to associate the sale of light armored vehicles with
possible escalation of human rights violation in the future. Instead, the government has chosen to
emphasize the significant economic gains that come with the huge deal. Canada gains enormously
from its relationship with Saudi Arabia. Firstly, Saudi Arabia is one of the key economies in the
Middle East. In addition to that, Saudi Arabia is a key trade partner considering the fact that it is
Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011). As a result of this there is
a definite commercial interest since it is a possible market for International Trade Canada (ITC). It is
worth appreciating the fact that the Canada and its allies perceive the Middle East nation as a
gradually stabilizing force. The fact that the light armored vehicles are made in Canada means that
they are a key source employment (Chase, 2015). This partly explains why the conservative
government is reluctant to halt the transfer of the arms for fear of contributing to

  • 2. ##ity And Intimacy In Ernest Hemingway s In Our Time Ernest Hemingway grasps the intimacy and authenticity of human relationships, in his book, In Our Time. The book consists of short stories following the lives of different individuals. Few of the short stories include The End of Something, Mr. and Mrs. Elliot, Cat in the Rain, and The Doctor and The Doctor s Wife. Through these short stories, relationships between male and female characters, lack meaningful intimacy. There is a disconnect amongst these couples. Hemingway redefines intimacy and what it means. Intimacy goes beyond sex; it is a bond between individuals. He is depicting two forms of intimacy through his characters. One form of intimacy is emotional intimacy, which is portrayed in the male characters. The other form would be sexual intimacy. Thus, Hemingway is changing our perception of intimacy; it is not only found in male and female relationships, but also in friendships. The bond between the male characters is more meaningful and stronger than the female and male relationships. Furthermore, Hemingway explores the absence of emotional intimacy in the male and female relationships. In The Doctor and The Doctor s Wife, the couple that is portrayed are the doctor and his wife. The theme of isolation is prevalent in this story. For example, Aren t you going back to work, dear? asked the doctor s wife from the room where she was lying with the blinds drawn (Hemingway 25). From this example, it is clear that the wife is in her own room. Given another example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Crisis Of Character By Jody Williams A Crisis of Character American political activist Jody Williams once said There s a mythology that if you want to change the world, you have to be sainted like Mother Teresa or Archbishop Desmond Tutu. But ordinary people with lives that go up and down and around in circles can still contribute to change. In an excerpt from his essay Why Bother? published in the New York Times Magazine, American public intellectual Michael Pollan reveals his goal to convince ordinary American citizens that they are capable of changing their behavior in order to reduce America s carbon footprint. Through the use of the four rhetorical elements situation, purpose, claim, and audience, Pollan aspires to have his readers gain a greater understanding that the environmental crisis is at heart a crisis of character (Pollan 766). However, although Pollan targets the correct audience to carry out his purpose, he fails to provide proper evidence to support his claim that individual contribution matters. Pollan states that the situation that first motivated him to write about his distress over the state of the environment came from a televised lecture made by American politician and environmentalist Al Gore, entitled An Inconvenient Truth. The documentary was intended to raise awareness about the dangers of global warming and encourage people to take appropriate action to successfully reverse climate change. Pollan recalls that the really dark moment [of the lecture] came during the closing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Causes Of The African Water Crisis The average American uses about 176 gallons of water in one single day, while in Africa, 660 million people see just one sip as a luxury, states Kristen Lewis in the article entitled THIRST for the 2016 Scholastic Scope. Without water, people cannot carry out daily activities and struggle to survive. The water crisis in Africa is an expanding problem in our world that continues to affect millions of people each day; fortunately, this crisis has caught the attention of The Water Project, a nonprofit organization in the United States that raises money to solve water crises around the world. The Africa water crisis has come about due to several factors that create negative outcomes for the citizens of Africa, but The Water Project is doing all they can to resolve these issues. There are a variety of causes held responsible for the water crisis in Africa. These causes have been taken from African s control and desperately need to be solved. Climate change is one of the countless reasons that there is a high demand for water in Africa. An article entitled Africa s Water Crisis Deepens written for the 2006 News Scientist, states that Drought, famine and spreading deserts have plagued Africa for the past 30 years. With the expansion of desertification, the process in which land becomes increasingly dry with little to no water resources, areas of land have dried out and are useless to humans due to the lack of rainfall on the African continent over the past several years. ... • 5. Cancerous Brain Tumors Tumors are an area of swelling in a part of the both that does not always create inflammation. These tumors are usually created by an irregular growth of the tissue. There are two individual kinds of tumors, one called malignant, which is cancerous and the other benign, which is noncancerous. There aren t any environmental factors that can usually cause either one of these tumors. Genetic disease although, can cause certain tumors that can overpower the genes that stop the formation of tumors. A genetic disease such as neurofibromatosis type 2 can be a prominent cause of a cancerous brain tumor. Malignant tumors are harmful to the body and need immediate action. They have an absence of a border and metastasize by growing in different parts of the body once they have traveled throughout the vascular system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, even benign tumors have a risk of causing damage to the brain through either compression or infiltration. A tumor in the brain is dangerous if it starts to compress parts of the brain causing neurological symptoms. This action can destroy the brain tissue it surrounds or it can block fluid in the brain from flowing. Although it is not cancerous it can also compress parts of the spinal cord depending where it is in the brain and can also stop the flow of blood in veins surrounding it. Some symptoms of brain tumors can be someone experiencing a seizure for the first, usually occurring in older patients. Because the all areas of the brain are what control the functions of the body, certain areas where the brain tumor is located may cause gradual speech impairments, or physical impairments such as difficulty walking. A lesser symptom of brain tumors would be headaches that can be caused by compression of the tissue which can occur in any age of a patient with this type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Memory Retention Research Paper Research: Memory retention is essential to all human beings. It is a fundamental function of our brain: whether it be memorizing people s names, memorizing math formulas, or memorizing the location of the car keys. We all recognize the importance of memorization and we all seek ways to improve our memory retention skills. Many different parts of the brain control a person s memory, but the most important part is the frontal lobe. It controls working and short term memory. Due to the processes of stimulus of the sensory memory which transmits to the frontal lobe, people can, on average, recall 7 items after looking at them for 15 seconds. The beneficial activity of walking also causes an improvement of creativity according to Dr. Oppezzo of Stanford University. Dr. Oppezzo created a matched pair experimental design using undergraduate student volunteers as subjects that tests the variable of walking versus sitting and inside walking versus outside walking. he conducted 3 experiments in which she compared tests of GAU (creative divergent thinking) and CRA (convergent thinking) using the variables of walking on a treadmill, sitting, walking then sitting, sitting then walking, sitting twice, and outdoors walking. For her last test she compared tests of creative analogy generation with the variables of sitting inside, walking on a treadmill inside, walking outside, and rolling on a wheelchair outside. In all of her findings, she saw an increase in creativity following or during the physical activity of walking. The increase in creativity she found was also independent of location of the test, meaning that being outdoors did not help or hinder memory retention skills when compared to results from indoors. This suggests that some physical aspect of walking stimulates the brain s memory system. But, more research needs to be conducted to understand the biological cause of this effect, which Dr. Oppezzo calls acute. She is unable to provide any scientifically based answers to the results of her experiment because it is still unclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return. Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family with not as much money as Juliet s. If she didn t find happiness from their relationship and him she would never have done what she did, or things would have at least ended differently. The most tragic part about Romeo and Juliet is that their death and that they end through death. Their impulsive decision making, and anger towards their families guided their actions. • 11. The Biology Of Early Life Stages Of Fish Development Understanding the biology of early life history stages of fish is essential for effective fisheries management (Mwaluma et al., 2014; Hames Hichford, 2005). For example, knowledge in fish development such as ontogenetic intervals and embryonic and larval development of fish species is a prerequisite to set the policies for their conservation and stock enhancement through larviculture (Rahman et al, 2009; Yanes Roca et al., 2012; Amini et al., 2015; Andrade et al., 2016). Furthermore, the mechanisms that affect the survival during the early life stages of fish can regulate the future year class strength (Mwaluma et al., 2014; Garrido et al., 2009). Consequently, estimated variability in abundance of fish eggs and larval survival rate can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Larval stages are followed by a transformation stage during which individuals transform to juveniles, which morphologically resemble adults (Osse et al., 1997). Anatomical, physiological, and behavioral changes such as dentition, feeding behavior, and swimming capacity allow various larval stages to attain new capabilities for biological activities, which in turn enable them to utilize their new environmental conditions (Moteki, 2002, Moteki et al., 2002; Pena and Dumas, 2009). Identification of eggs and newly hatched larvae have been proven difficult due to having little or no resemblance to their adult stages, considerable overlap in the time and location of spawning among multiple fish species, similarity in morphology of eggs among species, small size, and quick changes in shapes during larval stage (Victor et al., 2009; Ko et al., 2013; Amini et al., 2015). Some of the most popular ride sharing companies include the well known Uber, Lyft, and Wingz s. The packleader of them all, Uber, has recently been challenged by the government, taxi companies, and their own drivers over legal matters. Ridesharing companies claims that with their programs such as Uberpool and Lyft Line, it can actually be beneficial for the environment. As the name implies, Uberpool is a carpooling method based on splitting fares with people going to the same place as you. It s environmentally efficient by having less cars on the road because it reduces single rider fares, resulting in less harmfull emissions (Uber). According to Amanda Eaken, a director of transportation and climate at the National Resource Defense Council, 40 percent of emissions in California is from transportation. Additionally, along with the main ideas from A Struggle to Govern the Commons, more emissions raise the atmospheric concentrations of CO2, a known greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. So with this, UberPool and Lyft Line may actually make an effect on helping the environment. However there are limitations to this, it is not currently based by any research, just a theoretical hypothesis. Fortunately, some scientific research is on the way. • 14. Application Of Low Power Integrated Intelligent Sensors 2 Research Motivation and Significance Applications of low power integrated intelligent sensors [1 8] have been prolific in recent years, including, for instance, in environmental observation [9 11], security surveillance [12, 13], infrastructure monitoring and communication [14 17], and biomedical health care monitoring [18 21]. In particular, as the baby boomers approach retirement age, medical expenses become significant. For example, in 2014, health care accounted for 28% of US federal spending [22]. One major problem with current health care systems is that sensing and processing medical data require significant resources. To alleviate this problem, wearable medical devices [23 27] are expected to provide automatic monitoring and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The design challenges of the aforementioned intelligent sensors originate from their high density circuits, especially DSP circuits performing multiply and accumulate (MAC), i.e., adders and coefficient multipliers (DSP algorithms usually involve many MAC operations), which require a large circuit area and high power consumption. This is one of the most critical problems in integrated intelligent sensor design. For example, in [34] a seizure detector consumed more than 50% of the circuit area and power in a System on a Chip (SOC), even though an advanced lookup table (LUT) method was applied, which saved more than 50% of the total gate count in the digital filters [35]. The power cost of the chip may require battery replacement every six hours, which is not convenient or feasible for many patients. Essentially, the large circuit area and high power consumption of MAC circuits limit system performance and raise chip costs. Medical applications generally require higher resolution and higher reliability, which only exacerbates the problem. One promising solution to the above challenges is Delta Sigma technology. A Delta Sigma Modulator (DSM) converts an analog input signal to a 1 bit Delta Sigma modulated digital bit stream, as shown in Fig. 2 (a). Compared with conventional multi bit binary systems, the Delta Sigma system has several advantages: (1) a Delta Sigma bit stream can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first thing the reader will learn in reading Critias is Atlantis is ancient, ancient as in 9000 years (Plato). It s no wonder Atlanteans became far more advanced than Athenians and other neighboring ancient cities. The empire had time to form a stable society and conduct new ways to make life easier. It is resulting in the spread of colonial disease, especially when those diseases such as smallpox, measles, and pertussis were in the wave of epidemics outbreaks and repeated outbreaks of toxic diseases. This was one of the main reasons for the fading of Mandan. These colonial diseases from the outside destroyed Mandan step by step. Fenn described Mandan through archeology, anthropology, geology, climatology, epidemiology, and other important findings of Mandan and linked these to review their history. The disease and motorboat are the main reasons for the decline of Mandan. Fenn bemoans that the result for the Mandan people is a tragedy. Hip Hop Masculinity Connecting Masculinity to Hip Hop as an entire movement Hip Hop originated in the 1970 s, and during that period the genre was known as a means through which African Americans could speak their minds and state their opinions and concerns about important issues in their communities and society. However hip hop has immensely changed since its creation to what it is now, as a result of its profit oriented nature. Even though a few aspects of the original old school hip hop are still recognized and practiced in today s mainstream rap, the genre as a whole has come to be known for revolving around the common themes of violence, drug use, promiscuity, fashion, and materialism. In reality, today s mainstream hip hop is based on the beliefs of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Female MC s accept a variety of different fashion trends and masculine mannerisms in hip hop, whether it s the hyper sexuality in their lyrics or music videos or they are taking on masculine personas. Female MC s like Da Brat are known for their more masculine appearances. Typically, other female MC s often take the other route. The success rate of music in the hip hop industry has been proven to tie into hyper sexualized images and female MC s are forced to comply with the sexism of the genre. These women do this by referring to themselves and other women as bitches , and hoes along with explicitly talking about sexual acts and fantasies. However, most of these sexual fantasies are in the male s perspective. Female MC s also give in to the superficial beliefs of the genre. For example, rapper Nicki Minaj collaborated with Drake in the song Up all Night, where she bragged, I make the kind of money that make a broke bitch bitter...Which bitch you know made a million off a mixtape? At the time due to the law that the Pharaoh had put in place all first born children of the Israelites had to be drowned in the Nile River to prevent children from growing up and retaliating against the Pharaoh himself. Moses was put in the Nile, but wasn t drowned. Jochebed couldn t drown her own son so she put him in a basket and let him float down the Nile. As he floated by the Pharaoh s estate, the Pharaohs daughter rescued him from the Nile and named him, and thus he was raised by Egyptian royalty. This becomes more evident when Moses marries, Zipporah, a woman from the Midianites (Exodus 2:15 22). Together they have a son named Gershon, which is thought to translate to exile. Sigmund Freud argues that the Israelite genealogy of Moses roots was only created to mask the true Egyptian roots of Moses. The Promised Land was promised to the Israelites and the death of Moses at the hands of G d may be a way of sending a message to the people of Israel. By killing Moses, the leader of the people for the past 40 years, G d is communicating to the people that even someone with very little Egyptian heritage doesn t deserve to live in the Promised Land, no matter how important they ve been to the freedom of the Israelites. This hypothesis would argue that Moses was killed by G d purely to send a message to the people of Israel to prove how privileged they are to be permitted into the Promised Land, creating an extreme sense of ... • 19. Stereotypes In Hailee Steinfeld s Most Girls Can I be a girl without wearing the stereotypical girly clothes? Hailee Steinfeld s song Most Girls talks about the two types of girls that exist. The first one is the girly girl that wear cute items: skirts, dresses, heels, tight clothing, and piercings on the body. She is very pretty since she wears make up, while the second on is a tomboy that dresses casual clothes, doesn t care what they wear, and is most likely bisexual or lesbian. She defines these types by their wardrobe, actions, and how they want to succeed in life through their own unique way. Society tells them that is how a girl should portray herself. No matter how you act or dress, at the end of the day you are a girl and no one can tell you otherwise. The artist is a female and her style can be girly and tomboyish because that s who she is. When I first heard this song I felt like I was finally understood that I am a girl without those stereotypes. This song helped me realize I should be comfortable with myself and knowing not all girls, like myself, feel that they have to live up to the stereotypical expectation of being a girly girl and shouldn t define by any stereotypes, free to live by her own expectation, not society. First time I heard this song on the radio I was filled with so much enjoyment thinking it was my birthday and the attention was all on me. I thought back to when I was a kid, I hated wearing skirts, dresses, Skorts (shorts attach under a skirt) and wearing cute petite shoes. I was forced to wear these items, but mostly I wore T shirts, jeans, sweats, and Chuck Taylor Converse in white, black, gray, black and white all the time. I felt wearing sweatpants, looking like a princess was the person I felt comfortable as. My grandma hated taking me shopping because I never wanted to go to the extremely girly section. I felt like I was in a world of bubble gum with so much pink, unicorns, and all that girly stuff. I do not hate pink, but I m not too fond of it. She tried to shape me into this cute little girl who loves dolls, pink, and everything girly like my sister. I am not a little doll that she commands to wear and do whatever she wants. The Prevalence Of Gestational Diabetes According to the American Diabetes Association, the prevalence of gestational diabetes is as high as 9.2% in pregnant women due to obesity or being overweight. Having gestational diabetes can also increase the mother s chance for needing a cesarean section delivery. Some other risk factors that the mother can be a candidate for developing gestational diabetes by is having a family history of diabetes (especially if a parent or sibling has diabetes) and having gestational diabetes in previous pregnancies. Pregnant women don t need to have had diabetes before in order to develop gestational diabetes. They can just have high blood glucose levels during pregnancy to get gestational diabetes. There is a process in which the baby has to go through inside their mother s womb. The placenta is what supports the baby as it grows. Hormones from the placenta help the baby develop. • 41. Relationship Between Humans And The Natural Environment What are the characteristics that define the nature of the relationship between humans and the natural environment? Explain. The characteristics of the relationship are: Dependency on the side of humans on the natural environment s ecosystems to provide support for human social system. Differing cultural or social values impact how much or how little humans use from nature. Population size affects how much of a strain the humans will cause on the environment. Technology has an impact on how efficient the humans use the Earth s resources. What is a definition of a resource? A substance in the environment that is useful to people. Economically and technologically feasible to get. Socially acceptable to use. Why are there resource shortages? Explain. The world s dwindling supplies of arable land, fresh water, energy and minerals essential for the production of food and appliances such as mobile phones, cars, televisions and washing machines cannot meet rising global demand. Overpopulation is an undesirable condition where the number of existing human population exceeds the carrying capacity of Earth. Some believe there are too many people on Earth because the more people we have the more resources we need to use to support them, there will be less jobs to support an outsized population for developing nations, and the need for limited or scarce resources will lead to more conflicts with a greater possibility of those conflicts leading to war. • 47. The Water Crisis Access to clean water is essential to overall human health and economic growth. Recent technologies have made water access more universal, however there is still a large percentage of the world population that lives without clean water. Nanotechnology is a promising field that may offer sustainable solutions to the water crisis and allow the world to move toward universal access to clean water. Due to increasing demand for water, the world has been faced with a water crisis. The rising human population and unsustainable environmental practices has made clean freshwater a rare commodity. Developing countries are impacted the most by the water crisis. In the 20th century the global population increased threefold and triggered a simultaneous sixfold increase in water use (Bogardi, 2012). Water usage has likely increased due to extended droughts, population growth, more strict health regulations, and competing demands from a variety of users (Savage, 2005). Developed countries like the United States have been able to keep up with the increasing water demands by creating larger infrastructures and using legal means to regulate water consumption. However, many developing countries lack the capital needed to create the infrastructures needed to provide clean water. Additionally, developing countries often lack an impartial and efficient legal system that can enforce water rights and water regulations. That particular fear did not materialize, although eventually the violence worked against the film s broader acceptance. Reservoir Dogs left Sundance without winning any awards, but it became the festival s most talked about movie, and Miramax decided to distribute it. Over the course of that year, Tarantino turned up at festival after festival, receiving lavish praise from intellectual critics for making the hottest indie of the year. First, the materials efficiency variance was noted as unfavorable because 1,000 more units were used than budgeted. Since materials efficiency variances result from a variety of causes, including materials quality, spoilage, training, and equipment (Benge, n.d.). The next area to investigate are the labor variances which showed the cost, while favorable, was a difference of $1.00 per hour. Further, the efficiency was unfavorable, indicating that production required an additional 3,000 hours over budget, which could be the result of staff training, faulty equipment, or low quality materials (Direct labor efficiency variance explanation, formula, example, reasons. 2016). Since there appears to be a lower cost of labor than anticipated, but higher materials and hourly utilization rate, it is possible that new lower cost staff were hired resulting in slower production rates and elevated materials utilization. In addition to that, Saudi Arabia is a key trade partner considering the fact that it is Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011).
