Essay On Dolphins
There are different living places for dolphins in the world. Do you think the ocean is the only place for
dolphins to live? However, actually dolphin habitats are divided into two major parts which are the
wild places and the sea world though they can be found in ports, bays, gulfs and estuaries. The
environments and lifestyles between the dolphins are quite different while this could possibly be
because of the pollution made by human beings.
The dolphins that live at Sea World are more likely to have a larger and better environment of living
space than those which live in the wild. Dolphins which live at Sea World are actually known as living
in the places that are called aquariums. Aquariums are the manmade places with no pollution, which
means dolphins are able to have a cleaner environment to survive. In other words, they will be less
likely to die because of pollution problems. In aquariums, the workers here will clean up the water in
the pool every day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to some research, dolphins living at Sea World are usually fed by highly trained staffs. So it
seems they do have a better life, at least they don t even need to worry about looking for food. But
think about it in this way, those dolphins just receive food without effortlessly, is it really good for
them? As an old saying goes Gives the human by the fish to be inferior gives the human by the
fishing. So if the dolphins cannot practice looking for food by themselves, they may lose the ability
one day. In addition, dolphins that are at Sea World tend to be fed by visitors, which may pose a threat
to their health. So as I have mentioned that dolphins in those two places can have different lifestyle.
For example, those in the ocean usually leap over the water surface. What s more, dolphins usually
have a migration as the seasons change while for those in the aquariums they may not have such habit.

Huck Finn Moral Education Analysis
Twain argues that a moral education should come from personal experiences, he proves this through
Huck s personal experiences with Jim, his inability to rat on Jim to Miss. Watson, and Tom s lies at the
end.
Through Huck s experiences with Jim Twain shows that moral education should come from one s
personal experiences. After Huck and Jim get separated in the middle of the night, Huck tries to pull a
prank on Jim and convince him that it was all a dream. Jim figures out Hucks lie and tells him how he

Tom explains where his sense of reality and morals come from when he is criticizing Huck for his idea
to save Jim You can get up the infant schooliest ways of going at a thing. Why, hain t you ever read
any books at all? Baron Trenck, nor Casanova, nor Benvenuto Chelleeny, nor Henri IV., nor none of
them heroes? Who ever heard of a prisoner getting loose in such an old maidy way as that? (239)
Allusion in this passage to the romanticism unit not only shows Twain s dislike for romanticism but
also where Tom Sawyer s morals and sense of reality comes from. Showing where Tom s morality
comes from helps show where morals come from by showing where they shouldn t come from. Twain
proves that they should not come from romanticism later in the book when Tom reveals that Jim has

she was ashamed she ever was going to sell him down the river, and SAID so; and she set him free in

when concerning black people. Tom calls Jim a cretur dehumanizing

How Did The Supreme Court Support The Civil Rights Movement
The Supreme Court supported Civil Rights Movements by handing down a number of decisions that
paved the way for the civil rights accomplishments of the1960s and 1970s. The Court s decisions
promoted the creation of an atmosphere in which African Americans and American Women were
optimistic about their chances of gaining fundamental human rights as well as equal rights. Aimed at
breaking down the idea (laid out in Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896) that racially segregated institutions
could be constitutional so long as they were equal, the decisions of the court aided in the upheaval of
civil rights in the African American Civil Rights Movement. Within the realm of feminism, at the
time, Women s Rights followed a similar trend to that of the leaps ... Show more content on

One of the most infamous Supreme Court cases in history, Rowe v. Wade of 1973 struck down a law
in Texas restricting abortion. Texas formerly had a law in place that deemed it a felony for a woman to
have an abortion; the courts ruled that the state s interest in protecting the health of a pregnant woman
and the potential life needed to be balanced against a woman s right to privacy. The Roe v. Wade
decision is what began the national debate over the morality of abortion. Phillips v. Martin Marietta

Market Entry Modes
International market entry modes allow firms to enter foreign markets and can choose the most
appropriate entry mode for their industry. After analysing market drivers, demand and consumer
behaviour, Pharmaceutical firms may choose the most strategic mode of entry to enter a market. The
market entry mode is strategic and is regarded as a major factor in the Internationalisation process
(Morschett et al.,2015, p.323). As illustrated below, the International market entry model outlines that
Pharmaceutical firms may enter foreign markets through Exports/Imports, Subsidiaries,
Mergers/Acquisitions, Joint ventures, or Licensing.
Figure 2.4 An international market entry model for pharmaceutical companies. (Adapted from Javalgi
Wright,2003, p.277).
Joint Venture
A joint venture is characterised by the need to achieve a business transaction while remaining separate
from each other. Each firm maintains its resources and independence while engaging in an activity,
with the objective of achieving certain objectives. The need for joint ventures in the Pharmaceutical
industry may be characterised by the need to reduce high R D costs and by so doing, share costs
through common equity (Roijakkers Hagedoon,2005, p.8). Joint venture as a mode of market entry

In process licensing, a firm gives the licensee the right to use production processes. This type of
licensing may be common in the Pharmaceutical industry, regarding patented drugs/products. Product
licensing allows a firm to grant specific rights in the manufacture of products, while distribution
licensing gives the licensee the ability to market and distribute products in an area. Brand licensing
allows a firm to use a firm s brand. Licensing enables the licensor to benefit from the skills,
comparative advantage, and other capacities of the licensee (Morschett et al., 2015,

Compare The Metamorphosis And It s A Wonderful Life
The Metamorphosis and It s a Wonderful Life : The Importance of Family Support The
Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life by Francis Copler don t seem to
have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature classes, and the other is
a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common themes of unhappiness,
transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The Metamorphosis and It s a Wonderful
Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go through a transformation where they see
what their lives are like without them. We will examine the characters, the journeys they went
through, and the different outcomes of similar experiences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gregor s transformation begins when he wakes up and is morphed into an insect, and watches his
family s lives progress without him able to support himself, let alone them. In both of the
transformations, the two are self sacrificing, and feel unappreciated. They are stuck in what they see as
a dead end job. They are stuck in an unending cycle of work and drudgery, doing something they hate
for others. Then there is a big problem in each of their lives. For George it s the possible jail time, and
for Gregor it s morphing into a giant insect. With so many similarities between the two stories you
might expect the outcomes to be the same, or at least similar, but they are surprisingly different. The
difference between the two transformations can even be considered extremes. The two are opposites.
George Bailey regains his humanity and enjoyment of life when he finds out how important to others
and how loved he really is. He ends up a happy and wealthy man. Gregor on the other hand loses his
humanity after finding that his family can support themselves and would be happier without him, and
thru his family s betrayal and neglect dies a sad death. George s family base is strong and sturdy, and

Beethoven And The Piano In The 1800 s
Beethoven and the Piano
During the late 1700 s and early 1800 s, Beethoven was innovating the world of music through
various compositions. In particular, Beethoven s works for piano revolutionized and innovated the
piano and its performance practices. His compositional works have always been considered to be
some of the best works published, but not everyone realizes just how pivotal his work was in this point
in music history. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 16th, 1770 to his
father, Johann van Beethoven, and mother, Maria Magdalena Keverich. He lived in Bonn for about 22
years then moved to Vienna after his father passed away due to alcohol misuse. In Vienna, he was a
well known German pianist and composer. His compositional works were well known for broadening
the usage of instrumentation and expanding the boundaries for performance. Beethoven began to
struggle during the later years of his life due to his deafness. He used his emotions to give meaning to
his music, and this music became to be known as some of his most important works. ... Show more

from other various famous composers. He even went as far as to dedicate his first three piano sonatas
to Haydn. These three pieces were to pay homage to the older composer s style which he just
embellished upon. Unlike most other piano sonatas, Beethoven included a forth movement instead of
just stopping at three, and rather than having a minuet at the end, the last two ended the piece with a

Nuclear Power Plant Advantages And Disadvantages
Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable energy and one more dollar
spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more dangerous place, because nuclear power
and nuclear weapons go hand in hand (Mark Z. Jacobson).
Nuclear power plants are widely considered to be one of the most effective methods of producing
electricity, however, they come with disastrous potentials. They are more preferred than the toxic
burning of fossil fuel, which produces high amounts of greenhouse gases (Health Research Funding).
However, I believe that the disadvantages and potential hazards of using nuclear power plants demean
the advantages, and thus they should not be considered as a solution to energy problems. The
disadvantages include the usage of non renewable fuel and the potential of long lasting destructive
effects on the environment and health. Health effects
Accidents
A nuclear power plant acts like a thermal power station in which nuclear reactors act as the heat
source (European Nuclear Society). All typical conventional thermal power stations work similarly,
where heat is used to generate steam which drives a turbine connected to a generator that produces
electricity (European Nuclear Society). There are four hundred nuclear power plants functioning in the
world, with many in the United States and Japan (Nuclear Energy Institute, World Statistics ). One of
the main drawbacks of using nuclear power plants is

The Destruction Of The Mongols Across Afro Eurasia And The...
The destruction of the Mongols across Afro Eurasia and the Black Death were the factors in which
prompted the creation of the three important Islamic states. The three newly formed empires were the
Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals and they controlled regions from Southern Europe to the northern
part of India. According to Pollard, by the mid sixteenth century the Mughals controlled the northern
Indus river valley; the Safavids occupied Persia; and the Ottomans ruled Anatolia, the Arab, world,
and much of southern and eastern Europe, (Pollard, Pg. 391). The Ottoman Empire lasted the longest
of the three up until the early twentieth century due to their politics, religion tolerance, and develop of

structure was based on adaptation and attractions. During Osman s reign, the sultan, the empire

The Collapse Of The Soviet Union And President Vladimir Putin
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and President Vladimir Putin s ascendency in the early
2000s, he and his government have been hell bent on reclaiming Russia s old title of a world
superpower. In conjunction with his administration, Putin has commandeered Russia s identity to the
narrative of being an energy superpower by using the nation s most effective weapon: the country s
energy resources. Peter Behr s article for the Congressional Quarter Global Researcher titled Energy
Nationalism, seeks to demonstrate and explain why and how Russia in addition to other countries such
as China and Venezuela became so nationalistic and protective of its energy resources. Furthermore,
Since the oil age began more than a century ago, governments in the developing world on both the
right and left have promised their people a fair share of the wealth...Instead, black gold has spawned
corruption, economic hardship, vast class differences and civil war (Behr 2007). When politically
creating a nation s identity on the world s stage, leaders incorporate the benefits and effects of human,
material, and natural resources. Since these are constantly evolving variables, a country s identity,
particularly relating to natural resources, is constantly evolving as well. Nevertheless, Putin is

of being a geopolitical and energy superpower. However, prior to understanding and examining

Effects Of Classical Conditioning In A Bite Of China
Introduction
The psychology theory seems to be professional, and it is hard to use in daily lives in many common
people s views. However, some principles are used widely in TV shows or movies. For example,
classical conditioning can make people to perform a specific behavior after several times training . In
the essay, the author will introduce a TV show called A Bite of China and discuss how the TV show
use classical conditioning.
Background information
Classical Conditioning
Classical Conditioning was founded by a Russian physiologist, Ivan P. Pavlov, in the early 1900s. At
first, He assumed that animals have automatic connections called unconditioned reflexes, which is a
reflection between a fixed stimulus and response such as the food and secreting digestive juices. He
speculated that the stimulus can be transferred from one to another. After that, Pavlov did the
experiments and get the conclusion. In the process, he gave a dog food and the dog salivated. The
connection between the food and the salivation was automatic requiring no training. The food was
called unconditioned stimulus (UCS) and the salivation was called unconditioned response (UCR).
The UCS is an event that automatically elicits an UCR. In other words, the UCR is the action that the
UCS elicits. Next, Pavlov introduced a new stimulus, such as a metronome. At the beginning, the dogs
heard the metronome but did not salivate. In this period, the metronome was a neutral stimulus (NS)
about salivation. After

Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell
In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their
husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in the
marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go smoothly.
However, certain men in the 19th century began to degrade women. Making women feel worthless
and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the domestic duties
that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play Trifles, the play writer
wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is wrong to assume
something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play, written by Susan
Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as equal. In the play, Hale
stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The word trifles means something
unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying
that women worry over the small things in life, instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in
the play, the women focusing over trifles is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to
have an upper hand over the men. Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn
from her mother s example that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected
of her when she grew up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many
different ways. It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable
to any family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels!
Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that the
County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the sink
instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful quick.
Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying to take

The National Minimum Drinking Age Act Of 1984
Replacing the Old Fashion Around the world new adults are flaunting their new found responsibilities
consuming alcohol at the average age of 18. However, unlike most countries in the world the United
States has determined to establish their drinking age to be set at 21 years of age. This antiquated
position is unjust to many young American adults. The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984
should be revised and reconstituted to the legal age of 18. To provide a more suitable America that is
secure and reasonable for all young adults. The drinking age needs to be lowered so that it can reduce
traffic fatalities, reduce binge drinking, and allow young adults to understand an old ongoing tradition.
It s time to reconsider the drinking age to allow a safer environment for everyone. Drinking and
driving is still a problem today, and can even be seen in young adults. The National Minimum
Drinking Age Act of 1984 was instituted to reduce drunk driving. According to Michelle Minton, a
fellow in consumer policy studies at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, states due to this act ages of
18 and 21 actually increased traffic fatalities of those between the ages of 18 and 24 by three percent.
(Minton 22). Having an increase of three percent in traffic fatalities is by no means a small portion of
the total deaths, with just an increase of three percent, many more young American adults have passed
away, which could have easily been prevented. Even Anne McCartt, a vice president

Difference Between Alphabetistic And Alphabetic Writing...
Alphabetic and Logographic writing systems almost symbolizes two major cultures in the world. The
Western, Rome, Greece is where the alphabet was created and developed over the course of centuries.
Alphabetic Writing System such as Latin, French, and English had been used as the main language
and device of Western Culture. Particularly English, it is the franca langua. Although English
dominates most of the globe, through colonization, political powers and such, English or any other
alphabetic writing system before that failed to be completely dominant. The reason is the existence of
logographic writing systems particularly Eastern ones, Chinese as the most relevant example. China

This proves that the rise of English is not dominant. Why is that? Why is one writing system not
completely dominates the other? There are two reasons for that which is the enormous civilization and
culture that was already built upon these writing systems and the fundamentals difference between
these two writing systems.
First of all, what are these Alphabetic and Logographic writing systems and why are they
fundamentally different? The alphabetic writing system, the original principle of the alphabetic
writing system, in strong contrast to ideographic writing, is a visualization of speech. Ideally each
letter represents one speech sound (grapheme phoneme correspondence), and rules govern
combinations from this small set of basic symbols into higher order linguistic units.(1) While on the
other hand, in a logographic writing system, in theory, each symbol represents one idea. (2). The main
advantage of the alphabet principle is the consistency of the spelling for each word. Because words
consistent spelling, the alphabetic systems have many patterns recurring in many words making it
easier to learn. Also Alphabetic words, since the spelling

Description of Key Competitors
There are few sustainability consulting companies focusing only on maintenance of existing small and
medium sized buildings in the United Kingdom.
Mostly are large consulting firms (more than 30 employees) that offer consulting services to small and
medium sized businesses. However, these large firms cannot cost effectively service this market due to
high overhead and labour costs. Small and medium sized businesses usually cannot afford the high
hourly fees charged by these firms. Business from this target market does not represent a significant
portion of the revenues generated by these large firms which all specialize in new projects.
Analysis of Competitive Position
Eco Friendly sustainability Consultancy will be the only consulting firm in the region specializing in
providing sustainability consulting services to small and medium sized existing building

Comparing Hitchcock’s Films, Shadow of a Doubt and...
Comparing Hitchcock s Films, Shadow of a Doubt and Vertigo
Francois Truffaut, when referring to Hitchcock said that he exercises such complete control over all
the elements of his films and imprints his personal concepts at each step of the way, Hitchcock has a
distinctive style of his own. He is undoubtedly one of the few film makers on the horizon today whose
screen signature can be identified as soon as the picture begins. Many people have used Hitchcock as
the ultimate example of an auteur as there are many common themes and techniques found amongst
his films. Even between the two films Shadow of a Doubt and Vertigo, many commonalities occur.
There are several images that Hitchcock frequents in these two films. One image is ... Show more

In Vertigo, staircases are in integral part of the plot. They provide the height needed to trigger Scottie s
acrophobia. In both stories, however, they provide a gateway to an innocent place now occupied by
some evil force. Uncle Charlie is the evil staying in innocent Young Charlie s room and Gavin Elster
is the evil hiding out in the Church s bell tower waiting to throw down his wife.
Hitchcock also uses the detective as part of both stories. In Shadow of a Doubt, he is present to help
Young Charlie discover the truth about her Uncle and in Vertigo, he is in the story to discover the truth
for himself. However, the detective is also involved in the romance aspect of both films. The detective
is a character used to create a bridge between the actions in the movie and the audience. Throughout
the film, the audience, like the detective, is trying to unveil what has happened and what is going to
happen.
Another common theme in Hitchcock s two films is the female loss/lack of identity. In Shadow of a
Doubt, Young Charlie feels alone and empty until her uncle comes to town. Initially, she is nothing
without him. Comparably, in Vertigo, Judy is nothing to Scottie or herself. He wants her to be exactly
like Madeline and she does it for him. At some point, both women experience a lack or loss of
identity.
Hitchcock also works with the perfect murder. In Vertigo, that is convincing

Essay On False Claims Act
The False Claims Act is a piece of legislation from the U.S. Congress that allows any individual with
knowledge of a fraud being perfected against any agency of the U.S. Government to file a claim on
behalf of the Government against the individual or business that has or is committing such fraud. The
individual filing such claim on behalf of the United States Government is identified as the qui tam
plaintiff and, if the action is successful, such person is entitled to share in a percentage of the recovery
against the fraudulent person or business. This is supported by the reading, The federal government s
main weapon in the so called war on fraud and abuse is the False Claims Act (FCA) (Showalter, 2017,

In essence, the qui tam provisions permit any individual or entity to file a False Claims Act case on
behalf of the United States government. The motive behind the qui tam provisions of the False Claims
Act was the acknowledgment that the government lacks the resources as well as the information to
pursue violators who intentionally submit false and fraudulent claims to the United States government.
The responsibilities of the qui tam plaintiff do not end with the filing of the lawsuit. Such individual
must not only notify the Justice Department of the filing but must agree to collaborate fully with the
Justice Department in the litigation. The Justice Department has the option of stepping into the shoes
of the qui tam plaintiff and prosecute the action on its own or allowing the qui tam plaintiff to pursue
the action on his or her own. This is supported by the reading, Any person with information about

Fantasy vs. Reality
Fantasy vs. Reality
Silently, my senses begin to abandon their rationale...who is to say then what is real? The world that
we live in, the reality, which we are a part of, is small and thus limited. That is why, in his infinite
capacity for potential improvement, man created fantasy. Fantasy is BIG! To a certain extent it is more
imaginative, more exciting, and more fun. Fantasy is like a lake where man throws all his ideas and
dreams, and then he dives on in from the springboard of imagination. So, jump in to the lake. Why
not? Just make sure that when you jump in to the lake you know how to get back from where you
came from. Because, no matter how big a fantasy is, to the point that it somehow changes our
perception of what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is fantasy mixing itself with reality, that in the process, it is now becoming hard to determine
whether that particular fantasy is still just a fantasy apart from reality or it is already mistaken to be
reality itself. Soft trick of sun and shadow conjures the fruits and foliates into tall towers and halls,
risen from the windy old streets. This would mean the sun playing tricks by producing shadows.
Shadows are kind of a pointer to something, pointing to what is real and yet in itself is not real, just
like the imagination. Just as the sun produces the shadow, the mind produces the imagination, wherein
both the shadow and the imagination point to something that is real but again, in themselves alone are
not real. And so, the sun playing tricks would mean conjuring or summoning the fruits and foliates,
which refer to little bits of reality and transforming them into tall towers and halls, which in turn are
pinpointing to grand and fantastical images. In other words, simple pieces of reality are then altered
into majestic landscapes thus creating a fantasy. And to enhance the image more, the tall towers and
halls are risen from the windy old streets. What do we usually find in windy old streets? We find
dilapidated and out of date houses and structures and yet the image of tall towers and halls are found
on those very streets. The very presence of tall towers and halls

Hofstede s Four Cultural Dimensions With Fons Trompenaars...
A) Compare and contrast Geert Hofstede s four cultural dimensions with Fons Trompenaars models.
Geert Hofstede four cultural dimension are as below mentioned: Power Distance Index (PDI): The
principle issue here is the means by which a general public handles disparities among individuals.
Power Distance is the degree to which the least capable individuals from associations and
establishments (like the family) acknowledge and it is the extent to which power is to be expected that
it is dispersed unequally. Individualism (IDV) vs Collectivism: For this dimension says that the people
are incorporated into gatherings. In individualistic social orders, the anxiety is put on individual
accomplishments and individual rights they worry about themselves and family member s
.Conversely, in collectivism social orders, people act prevalently as individuals from a deep rooted and
binding gathering family groups in society. Uncertainty avoidance index (UAI): A general public s
resistance for rules and regulations. It mirrors the degree to which individuals from a general public
endeavor to adapt to tension by minimizing instability. A few individuals have control surprising
circumstance. Masculinity vs Femininity: A Masculinity societies qualities are aggressiveness,
decisiveness, realism, desire and force, while female societies put more esteem on connections and
personal satisfaction. In manly societies, the contrasts between sex parts are more sensational and less

Write About the Ways in Which Auden Tells the Story in...
I feel that Auden tells the story of Miss Edith Gee extremely well, using a wide variety of literary
techniques to make it an interesting but disturbingly thought provoking read. The story shows how our
protagonist is surely going about her life, in the eyes of others, as if nothing is wrong, but when she is
alone she wonders if anyone does care about her.
The initial exposition is extremely sympathetic towards Miss Gee. Now let me tell you a little story
about Miss Edith Gee is a cruel way to open the narrative as Auden instantly belittles her character
and makes her seem insignificant, whereas she is actually the main, if not only character we meet in
detail. This technique is effectives the reader then feels that she is ... Show more content on

This make me, as a reader feel that she is pessimistic and doesn t really stop thinking and relax for just
a moment. In this same stanza, at line 15, the back pedal brake is described as harsh . This is effective
imagery as it has two different connotations. There could be the fact that it is a hard and rusty back
pedal brake, but there is also the metaphor that she is on a bike ride, a symbol for her monotonous life,
and she is constantly held back by this brake that is stiff and harsh when triggered, possibly meaning
that she is held back in life by the way she lives her life and how dull it is.
The way in which irony is introduced in stanza 5, where Auden says that Miss Edith Gee attends St.
Aloysius church, is clever because St Aloysius overcame his disease of the plague, whereas Miss Gee
has a substantially different fate. This again, may be seen by some to be Auden mocking Edith Gee
and her insignificant life.
Miss Gee looks for guidance as she gazes up to the stars and dialogue is introduced with Does anyone
care that I live in Clevedon Terrace on one hundred pounds a year? She seems to be crying out for
attention or perhaps someone to care for her and love her, but it seems that she is cruelly denied this
desire.
She does find something to bury her thoughts in, and it so happens to be the vicar of her local church,
whom she has sexual fantasies and desires about. Her desires start off to

Global Financial Crisis And Its Impact On Economic Policy...
Financialisation is the process in which financial institutions/markets increase in size and gain greater
influence over economic policy and outcomes (Palley, 2007).Another link to financialisation is high
degree of leverage. This is because with leverage, you can get a loan for 9/10s of the money, so you
only need a small portion, and you are able to make lots of profit. Leverage is linked to
financialisation in a sense that if it works, you get lots of profit with a working system, however if it
doesn t work, then you can lose lots of money, and in high degrees of leverage, you can be losing lots
of money by the investment not working out, and someone then has to pay off the loaned money. In
this essay, I will be analysing whether or not financialisation was the main cause of the 2008 global
financial crisis, or if there were other factors involved in the great recession. I will be arguing that
financialisation was a cause of the crash, but because it was aided by other factors, it is not the sole
reason behind the collapse. The points that I will be making in my argument will be in relation to the
financial crisis in the context of financialisation, talking about market deregulation and subprime
mortgages. The second point that I will make will be about the greed of the CEOs on Wall Street, and
their irresponsibility when it comes to the money of others. The final point that I will be making will
be about the irresponsibility on behalf of the regulators, and how they

What Is The Weaknesses Of The Modern World
The author separates the book into four main parts, The Modern World , Resources , The Third World
and Organization and Ownership . Each section touches on different ideas of economy, philosophy
and the environment, through the common lens of microeconomics, which champions alleviation of
problems through the scaling down from the current mega economies to village sized economies.
Further subsections incorporate ideas such as education, energy and the different scales of
organizations. Schumacher ends the book by relating all the aforementioned topics back to each other
and calling urgency to reprioritize to avoid an imminent downfall. This is an extremely strong book,
with many evident strengths. Written in an idealistic and conversational tone, the writer calls on many
issues that are still relevant over four decades later. Issues like over use of resources, the dangers of
static technology, and human s obsession over materialism are still very real problems that have only
worsened since Schumacher first called attention to them. While most books that were written in the
1970s about technology and economy run the risk of becoming outdated very, Schumacher has done
an excellent job of addressing the root of the issues, including materialistic consumption versus
happiness, which seem to be timeless. On the issue of technology in particular, which was still at its
beginning stages of developing, the author declared it acted like a foreign body in which the human

The Gold Lily
The Gold Lily by Louise Gluck shows the audience how the flower speaks to humans or, possibly, to
God. As the gold lily dies, it asks to be saved by the one who raised it, but one who is helpless to
fulfill the request. At the same time, the poem gives voice to a voiceless creature: a flower. Also, as an
extended metaphor, the flower gives voice to the human subject on the eve of death, a creature
unavoidably wasting its voice pleading with a being who cannot hear, does not listen, cannot help, or
is not there at all. As such, the poem speaks to the inevitable in nature and to strength and weakness in
the face of perhaps life s greatest fear: death. In its own small way, The Gold Lily is a preparation for
death, a poem attempting to confront ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had learned the english language and greek myths by the age of three as she had to please them.
They loved intellectual accomplishment which is why she was being educated heavily at such a young
age. She wasn t in times of hardship when she wrote this poem, but the world around her was. During
the early 1990 s, the Soviet Union brought an end to themselves and thus the Cold War ended. But
while that signalled an era of peace to most Americans, it liberated ethnic groups previously held
together by the Soviets to fight for control of what they considered their historical territory. What s
more, while these ethnic and political conflicts in Eastern Europe were happening, a battle broke out
in the Middle East between Iraq and Kuwait over oil prices and debt, causing Iraq to invade Kuwait. I
think that Gluck wanted to write this poem because of all the catastrophic and deadly events
happening around her. Through the poem, she could show how hurt she was and how they were
causing her pain and sorrow. Nevertheless, Louise Gluck did a fantastic job with incorporating her
main ideas in The Gold Lily . Her usage of metaphors and succinct imagery made it not only hard to
discover what the message was, but how beautifully written the piece was. Using a flower to represent
both itself and a human being, Glück portrays an individual overwhelmed by the process of dying, and

Political Ideologies
Introduction
Ideology defined by Heywood would be: A set of more or less coherent ideas that provide bases for
organized political actions. Its central features are an account of existing power relationships, a model
of a desired future, and an outline of how political change can and should be brought about. (2007: 68)
This essays main focus will be discussing the main ideologies and focuses of the two leading political
parties of South Africa. The African National Congress or ANC and the Democratic Alliance also
known as DA. An important insight into both their ideology will be gained by analysing how both

Ensuring that every citizen has access to an affordable education system; to water and food and a safe
place to sleep. But because this system is still very new, and with limited amounts of money available
the development takes its time. So in summery a welfare state is a concept of government in which the
state plays a key role in the protection and promotion of the economic and social well being of its
citizens. It is based on the principles of equality of opportunity, equitable distribution of wealth, and
public responsibility for those unable to avail themselves of the minimal provisions for a good life. (4)
As we can see this explanation of a welfare state again reflects many of the ANCs key values and
mission statements.
Other Ideologies such as socialism also implementing their ideas into the current ANC principles and
the way the ANC interacts with the community. Ideas such as uniting people together through the
ANC Youth League, Sport Clubs, Holiday camps and many other community building elements.
Further on fraternity and social quality (as discussed above) feed into socialism and what comes with
it.
Another (from my point of view) big part in our current government system plays communism. Where
the large orientation seems to come from a mix of ideologies of orthodox Marxism infused with
Leninism. Which should not be mistaken for the old USSR government system, which was ruled by a
single dictator Joseph Stalin (1878 1953). In

Gender Roles In The House Of Mirth By Edith Wharton
During the late 19th century, strict and confining gender roles existed for women throughout the
United States. Expectations regarding these gender roles varied based upon the social class in which a
woman was born. Edith Wharton in The House of Mirth, explores the lives of women who aspired to
be part of New York City s highest social class. Specifically, the author follows the life of Lily Bart
and her quest for acceptance and financial security in high society. Lily Bart intrigues me as I cannot
decide if I am more repelled by her, or more sympathetic to her. I expect that Edith Wharton has made
Lily not wholly unlikeable on purpose. In doing so, Lily becomes a character whose struggles we care
about, during an era which gave women such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lily seems to be an unscrupulous social climber who thinks happiness comes from superficial things,
achieved at any personal price. Lily Bart s lavish lifestyle expectations stem largely from her
upbringing. Lily was raised by a mother to believe that a woman s goal in life should be to marry the
richest man possible, and strive for the greatest level of social status in New York s high society.
However, Lily s parents died leaving Lily in constrained financial circumstances. Membership in this
elite social circle requires seemingly infinite financial resources. Women must attend ongoing social
occasions frequently wearing new, expensive, custom dresses and costly jewelry. They must
participate in gambling games like bridge, and be, or at least appear to be, indifferent to financial
losses. Lily does not have the money to spend on such activities, but she spends it nonetheless to
maintain her status in this group. Lily seems willing to sell her soul in order to land a rich husband and
thus maintain an extravagant lifestyle, and is disparaging about those outside of this circle. For
example, when Lily talks with Mr. Seldon about his cousin s (Gerty Farish s) apartment, she speaks
unfavorably about Farish s lifestyle as a respectable working woman living in a humble flat. However,
when Lily realizes that what she said might have seemed disagreeable to Selden, Lily explains, She

Why Volkswagen Will Race Ahead Of Auto Peers
Volkswagen (VLKAY), world s third largest automaker behind Toyota (TM) and General Motors
(GM), has been an exceptional performer in the automotive industry, gaining 158% over the last five
years. Although the U.S. is one of the Volkswagens smaller markets, it is a top seller in the Europe and
China. As the company aspires to become the global industry leader by 2018, here are a few reasons to
back up its ambitious claim.
European auto industry poised for a rebound
Europe s beleaguered auto industry endured a six year slump, with auto sales falling to the lowest
level in nearly two decades, as a sluggish economic recovery put a brake of spending. However, going
by the recent data trend, the industry is headed for a revival this year. European auto sale increased
7.6% in February, marking the sixth straight month of sales increase, as steady economic recovery in
Italy, Portugal and Spain spurred demand for new cars, according to the Association of European
Carmakers (ACEA). The improving consumer confidence, amid a recovering economy, is likely to
drive a 2% to 3% upside in 2014.
Volkswagen, Europe s biggest automaker, is best positioned to benefit from the auto industry rebound.
As a matter of fact, it has significantly helped the region s improved sales in recent months, posting
rises of 8.9% and 7.2%, respectively, in January and February this year. If demand holds up,
Volkswagen can considerably outperform the regional market this year. Furthermore, global auto sales

Character Analysis Of Little Snow White
In Little Snow White by Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm, there is a Queen who becomes jealous
of her seven year old daughter. She envied her daughter s beauty and sends a huntsman to kill Snow
White. Snow White is then all alone and unable to care for herself and becomes dependent of the
Seven Dwarfs. Although she is the main character, she is also the weakest character in the story. In
Fables, we encounter a very different Snow White. Here Snow White oversees the town, Fabletown.
Unlike the original fairytale story, there are no Dwarfs looking after her. She doesn t need a Prince to
come to her rescue because she is the hero in her own right. Her fierceness makes her a strong female
who embodies power. Unlike the Little Snow White, in Fables Snow White is the head in charge, she s
independent, and bold. Snow White is the head in charge who runs a town called Fabletown. She still
needs to run things by the Mayor but overall, she is the face of Fabletown. Others come to her with
their problems in hopes of a solution. Contrary to the Snow White we know from the original
fairytales where Snow White is not in charge of anything and no one comes to her for solutions.
Instead, she has the seven dwarfs looking out for her. For example, when the queen tried to kill her
they said, It must have been the queen who tried to kill you, take care, and do not let anyone in again
(Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm). This shows pity on the dwarf s behalf because they knew she
was unable to care for herself. However, in Fables, Snow White is now the one looking out for others.
For example, Beauty and the Beast come to Snow White for help with their marriage. Although, Snow
White was not able to give them a solution, she was now on the opposite end of the table unlike the
young and naïve Snow from the fairytale who sought others for her problems. Fables shows a great
representation of an independent woman with Snow White. After leaving the homeland and moving to
Fabletown, Snow White does not have her Prince Charming. Instead, this Snow White shows that she
can do anything she sets her mind to without any help. Something that did not occur in the fairytale
where the prince comes to her rescue and they live happily ever

The joint liability could cause issues for both parties if there were more tax liabilities or an audit was
found in the IRS s favor. When a joint return is filed personal exemptions are allowed for both spouses
and exemptions for dependents can be claimed for all dependents.
The other option afforded to the Ouray s is to file separately as a married couple. Filing separately can
be advantages under special circumstances. However, if the couple was to file separately, there are
several restrictions. First being, that if one spouse cannot demonstrate more than one half of a child s

the earned income credit and the credit for child and dependent care expenses. Next, no deduction is
allowed for the interest paid on educations loans, and only $1,500 of excess capital losses can be
claimed by each person.
From a tax planning perspective, more details would have to be known about the Ouray s expenses in
order to determine the best course of action. To address the original question of ability to file head of

Rise Above the Misery in Les Misérables by Victor Hugo...
As the era of literature slowly declines, the expert critiques and praise for literature are lost.
Previously, novels were bursting at the seams with metaphors, symbolism, and themes. In current
times, novels are simply short stories that have been elaborated on with basic plot elements that
attempt to make the story more interesting. Instead of having expert critical analysis written about
them, they will, most likely, never see that, as recent novels have nothing to analyze. Even books are
beginning to collect dust, hidden away and forgotten, attributing to the rise of companies such as
Spark Notes. An author deserves to have his work praised, no matter how meager and the masses
should have the right to embrace it or to reject it. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, another critic believes that the morals and peer pressure of a dauntless society are what
causes Man to become evil. This evil slowly forces them to progress into hardened ruffians that are
forced to resort to a pis aller in order to regain some hope for themselves. Thus, society cannot evolve
(Lewes 245). Contrary to what Reeves believes, Critic Moss believes that misfortune is the sole cause
of one s faults and that the main theme of the novel is the barrier between those who choose
degradation and those who are driven to it (228). Furthermore, the critic Napierkowski believes that
the meaning of life is love and that through the love that all people receive, any number of traits can
be changed. She explicates that change is extremely relevant in the case of Jean Valjean who is a
convict turned upstanding citizen. She also recalls that in the novel Valjean is only transformed due to
the love he receives from the Bishop of Digne, who gave Valjean everything that he had (Novels for
Students). Reeves, again, also explores the concept that Hugo is trying to prove that humans need to
love each other for the world to be a happier place (Masterplots). Thus, through evidence in Les
Misérables, the aforementioned themes can easily be proven. As the novel progresses, the two major
themes of love altering one s soul and misfortune being

Eli Lilly And The Pharmaceutical Chemist Essay
Eli Lilly Company (Lilly) was founding in 1876 by Colonel Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, Indiana. A
veteran of the United States Civil War and a pharmaceutical chemist by trade, Lilly set out to start a
company with three underlying goals. First manufacture high quality pharmaceutical products, second
medications would be dispensed by medical staff rather than through a mobile tradeshows which was
popular at the time, and finally, Lilly s medication would be developed using current science data. In
1886, Lilly went on to hire a pharmaceutical chemist which led to Lilly s esteemed research and
development history that they are known for to this very day (Lilly, 2015). In fact, some of the greatest
advances in medication can be traced back to Lilly. Lilly s research and development for insulin dates
back to 1923 and continues to this day (Lilly, 2015). Lilly also had a hand in mass producing
Penicillin and the Polio Vaccine. According to the Eli Lilly Company Annual Report (2015), over 50%
of the vaccine used to eradicate polio was Eli Lilly labeled. Through research and development, Lilly s

What Were The Causes Of The Russian Revolution Essay...
Before the war.
Before the war, there were lots of problems
which led up to the revolution and we call them
the long term causes. The peasants working and
living conditions were very bad but the
government made it even worse by its own
policies. Russia needed to develop its industries,
so that it was a modern agricultural country
instead of a backward one and also to remain in
an important military power. To aid this dilemma
the government invested in enormous amounts of
money in improving Russia s industries. Where
did most of this money come from? From the
pockets of the people in Russia!
To do this, the peasants had to pay huge taxes

Politically, Russia was very unstable as the
people had lost a lot of respect for the
government and the Tzar. When the Tzar started
to use the Dumas people began to wonder
whether they would have any real power. By the
Dumas first meeting it was clear. They could not
pass laws, they could not appoint ministers and
they could not control finance in such important
areas as defence. Was there much point in them
if the Tzar did not like what they were doing or
proposing to do, he could dissolve them?? So, no.
In my opinion the peoples views were not being
heard through the Dumas. There are lots of
opinions as whether the Tzar was fit to rule
Russia. In my opinion, the Tzar was not fit to rule
Russia but this was by no means his own fault.
He was taught as a soldier and he was not taught
to act and behave like a king so it was his
statesmanship that was at fault, not him himself!!
The War.
The war did not only effect the army but the
people at home. Food was getting short, all the
male peasants had to be taken off to the army so
only women and invalids were left to tend the
farms, shops .etc. All the working trains were

not getting through from other places. Nearly all

Do something about it. Everyone has problems from struggles in life. Malcolm X told his life story of
how he overcame in his autobiography simply called The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to
Alex Haley. His life changed the world historically, socially, and especially politically by taking a
stand against racism of all kinds which still exists in today s modern standards. Using his personal life
experience with racism towards African Americans, Malcolm spreads the word on equality for all with
a realistic tone that inspires trust in him. Malcolm X reaches all kinds of people in an effort to voice
his thoughts on equality for all using rhetorical and persuasive techniques for a more effective
message. From the beginning, the story Malcolm X tells uses a tone of realism and relatability to
establish a dominant impression upon the reader s mind. An example of this tone is when Malcolm, at
a young age, accepts his ultimate fate that had just befallen his father. Malcolm tells Alex that It has
always been my belief that I, too, will die by violence. I have done all that I can to be prepared (4).
The definitiveness he says this with is not an attempt at making readers feel empathy for him, but to
appeal to logic by presenting this as a fact of the kind of world he lives in. When Malcolm chooses to
state die by violence (4) instead of describing what kind of violence or with more emotion, he gets the
reader past the emotional aspect of his belief with this stolid diction

The Legend Of The Infamous Dr. Thrasher
Before I get to the story I must tell you the legend of the infamous Dr. Thrasher. In the Colorado
Rockies. The Thresher family stayed in a cabin in the mountain. There was the father Oliver Thresher,
the mother Margaret Thresher, and two kids Tracy Thresher, a five year old girl sharing the cabin with
her family, and Tommy Thresher, a thirteen year old boy, out collecting wood for the fire. While
Tommy was collecting wood he heard a scream from his sister he runs back to the house sees a burly

Hey, Theo greeted. Are you ready kid, Jenny laughed. Aye, aye captain, Theo chuckled. Ok,
Spongebob, let s get rolling, Jenny teased. Hey, can you stop calling me kid, I m only a year younger
than you two, I complained. We were on the road a while before we were even miles from the
mountain, I don t like the way this car sounds. Hey, Old Bessy, has been very reliable for many years,
Theo retaliated. It s an old rust bucket how is it going to last, I replied. By this time Jenny has already
been asleep during this debate. This car has never broken down and it never will, Theo told. We were
soon driving up the mountain, zig zagging back and forth to go all the way up. Then, car s gears
started making a loud grinding sound. That doesn t sound good, Jenny yawned, as she woke up. It s
fine, stop worryin she s never break down, Theo announced with pride. Half way up the mountain,
Hey, Theo the sound is getting louder, I said. What have I been telling you, this car ain t never going
to break down, Theo shouted. Uh, Theo it sound bad now, Jenny said cautiously. Shut up. My car ain t
never going to break down, Old Bessy, is never going to break down! Theo screamed as he slammed
on the breaks, Do you want me to turn this thing around. No keep going, Jenny and I said. We pulled
up to the cabin the headlights illuminating the cabin with an eerie yellow glow. All of a sudden.

Military Value Analysis
Leadership
My core values were developed in my younger years and came from my parents and close family. One
of my core values is integrity. This value came from my father and served as a basis for other traits
that developed in me, one being that of honesty. This things were ingrained in me from my earliest
memories. To this day, I don t think I ever heard my father tell a lie or not tell the whole truth. To me,
integrity goes farther than just being honest, it is having and living by the principles that I believe.
Another core value that is a part of me is that family, next to God, is the most important thing in my
life. This value was planted into me by my parents, in the way they loved me, supported me, and
encouraged me. As a core value, it not fully developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I strive to put the needs and wants of the people I supervise first whenever possible. Just because I am
a supervisor, I am no better a person than they are; I just have a higher rank. As a rookie officer I was
told when I needed something, It sucks to be you by my sergeant. That had a lasting impact on me and
made me determined to care for those under me if I was ever the sergeant. I have not always been an
8/8 on the leadership grid. When I first got promoted I was an autocratic leader, but still tried to take
care of the officers on shift. As I have progressed in my career, I have tried to become more a
democratic leader and believe I have accomplished that. Still at times there is a need to be more of an
autocratic leader. Along the same lines, at the start of my supervisory career I can now see that I was
very much a manager. I did not deal with people very well, I just expected that they were adults and
would have the work ethic to do what they were supposed to do. I found out quickly that some did not
and that managerial style of leadership did not work

The Annual Spending On Renewable Energy
The annual spending on renewable energy by the Department of Defense (DOD) will reach $10 billion
by 2030 (Schueneman). Right now the military proves to be one of the highest consumers of
renewable energy. They are also responsible for using and burning the most fossil fuels in the entire
country. The DoD realizes this and that s why they are working so hard to become a greener military.
In order to enhance the security of the American people and to address the every changing
requirements of sustainability, the U.S. military is urgently trying to reduce its footprint on the world..
The military is constantly trying to produce cleaner power, reduce energy consumption, minimize
waste and most importantly manage water. This covers an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of military leaders where already well aware of the sustainability issues going on within the
DoD. Admiral John Nathman, USN (Ret.), former Commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces Command
under President George W. Bush, put it this way: There are serious risks to doing nothing about
climate change. We can pay now or we re going to pay a whole lot later. The U.S. has a unique
opportunity to become energy independent, protect our national security and boost our economy while
reducing our carbon footprint. We ve been a model of success for the rest of the world in the past and
now we must lead the way on climate change (Schueneman)
The military as a whole has realized that their sustainability efforts haven t been the best and they are
doing enormous amounts of work to change that. Some may argue that the DoD isn t concerned about
sustainability because the Pentagon generates five times more toxins than the five major US chemical
companies combined and is considered the single largest domestic consumer of oil (Sustainability). In
all actuality the DoD and the Pentagon is well aware of this. That is why they are pushing for these
huge sustainability changes. They know that they are a large role model and in order to change the
image of the U.S. they first need to change their own image. The Departments of the Navy, Army, and
the Air Force, are all making big changes to help with this new mission; to

Dollar General Industry Analysis
MEMORANDUM To: From: Date: Re: Dollar General Industry Analysis Executive Summary: Dollar
General is the sixth largest mass merchandiser, and the fourth largest discount store in the U.S.
However, significant growth opportunities remain for extreme value retailers such as Dollar General.
Dollar General s strategic objective is sustainable and profitable long term growth. The company has
opportunities for growth by expanding in the United States to areas that lack an extreme value retail
presence. Continuing to serve low , middle , and fixed income families in small communities will
prevent Dollar General from competing directly against mass retailers such as Wal Mart and Target.
Dollar General s strength ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dollar store industry caters to low , middle , and fixed income buyers who are price sensitive.
Regarding consumables, buyers are looking for the best bargain for an item that they will need to
purchase again in the near future. The high threat of customer buying power drives profitability down.
In contrast to buyer power, supplier power is low. This is due to the large number of suppliers that
offer price competitive, undifferentiated products. Suppliers must rely on the retail industry to sell
their product, so forward integration is unlikely. The low threat of supplier power increases
profitability. The threat of substitutes is medium. Since extreme value retailers offer a focused
assortment of goods in a small box format, mass retailers such as Wal Mart and Target are substitutes
rather than competitors. On one hand, mass retailers have a larger assortment of branded goods,
economies of scale, and are highly price competitive with extreme value retailers. On the other hand,
extreme value retailers are more convenient due to the small box format, allowing a customer to get in
and out quickly. The products being sold are undifferentiated so price performance tradeoff is low. The
threat of new entrants into the industry is medium. There are areas of the U.S. with no extreme retail
presence, making it easier for a new entrant to open and capture market share. On the demand side,

Sahira Younas In the two sonnets, Remember by Christina Rossetti and The Cross of Snow by Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow, the authors address death and remembrance indicating similarities when
exploring grieving process but also demonstrate its differences through literary techniques. They both
utilized symbolism, imagery, and metaphorical language but showed differences in tone. Christina
Rossetti and Henry Longfellow utilized symbolism to signify ideas and qualities by giving them
symbolic meanings that guides the reader to understand the poem as a whole. In Remember , the poet
incorporated the volta the shift. Before line 9, the speaker insisted the beloved remember ought to
remember her. Afterward, she changes her mind and says ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An angel is pure, bright, and serene. The halo pale light (line 4) accurately tells the reader that it is not
an obnoxious light rather, it is a tolerable light. The poet wants to show that the wife of the speaker
symbolizes divine purity. Another thing the two sonnets share is metaphorical language; it used to
imply a comparison between two things that are unrelated but share some common ground. Christina
Rossetti establishes an idea of metaphorically remaining alive through remembrance. The
juxtaposition in line 1, Remember me and gone away implies that the poet suggests that the memory is
the last thing a person has that still ties them to life. Henry Longfellow utilizes metaphorical language
when he compares a tangible object to emotions. He includes, There is a mountain.../that.../displays a
cross of snow upon its side. / Such is the cross I wear upon my breast (lines 9 12). The image of a
mountain that bears a cross shape filled with snow manifests an image of the angelic figure going
towards heaven. Longfellow purposely used a mountain to further implicate religious ideas; the height
of the mountain shows that is closer to heaven because it is going upward. The snow symbolizes the
wife and that she is on the peak of the mountain, reaching towards heaven. He wears the pain of the
loss of his wife on his chest because she is within his soul. There are contrasting tones that each of the
poets give to the

Joe Studwell s How Asia Works
In How Asia Works Success and Failure in the World s Most Dynamic Region, Joe Studwell explores
the East Asian developmental successes of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China by challenging the
prominent theory of developmental economics. He uses the same theory to examine the lagging
behind of Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Studwell evaluates the performance of
these economies by a recipe he has concocted in which he explains as, an historical review of east
Asian economic development shows that the recipe for success has been as simple as one, two, three:
household farming, export oriented manufacturing, and closely controlled finance that supports these
two sectors (Studwell 267). The first stage requires land reforms ... Show more content on

The successes are named as South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Malaysia and Thailand are considered to
be moderately performing, but lagging behind. Finally, he classifies the Philippines and Indonesia as
failures. The final section of the book is solely dedicated to China as it presents a unique case. China
has developmental characteristics that are similar to both the successful countries of Northeast Asia as
well as the poorer Southeastern Asian countries. China has made great progresses and overcome great
disasters. It has worked closely alongside the World Bank and even receives technical support from it
when needed. But not without paranoia, which has actually caused China to prosper. Unlike the
northeastern countries, Chinese peasants do not own their own land as it is collectively owned and is
not allowed to be sold under law. In modern times, China s developmental plan is based off of
recognizing the past failures associated with state led growth, while allowing state companies to play
an important role in its economy. Also, foreign owned companies play a large role because other
countries outsource their labor needs to China because it is much cheaper. Overall, Studwell states that
China s government has set the stage for the enablement of rapid economic development. The author

What Is The Identity Of American Identity
Developed through early Americans events such as the establishment of the Plymouth colony and how
hypocritical the puritans can be, the settlers and colonists can be characterized as hardworking,
diligent, unfaithful, and unfair. As depicted in William Bradford s historical description Of Plymouth
Plantation, the Pilgrims demonstrated a hardworking and loyal spirit as they struggled to survive their
first year, they had a hard time providing a roof over their heads, finding resources, surviving diseases,
and the unforgiving weather. Puritans show their true colors, hypocritical and shameful through their
acts throughout the story of Nathaniel Hawthorne s Scarlet Letter. Conclusively, these characteristics
are reflected in American identity in both a positive and negative way, the Pilgrims taught us what it
meant to work for a dollar, we carried on the fakeness from the Puritans. Based on the events taken
place in the early years of American history, the early settlers and colonists developed American
identity through the hard work, diligence, and loyalty they exhibited to survive; we carry those habits
in our genes today. This example articulates that the early americans worked their butts of to get what
they wanted for the future of the colony. They started out as fifty then it narrowed down to seven,
these seven were determined to accomplish their goal. This supports that the argument that Americans
are hardworking people, no matter the situation. The author uses

In todays society, women have the equal amount of rights compared to the male. Women can work
wherever they so chose, vote for whoever they may chose, and pick a lifestyle of their own desire.
This type of society has never been forever, meaning men were inferior to women at one point in time.
The novel of The Sisters Brothers portrays this type of society, and we see many examples that the

The Machiavellian Cosmos
Anthony Parel s book, The Machiavellian Cosmos, written in 1992, argues that Machiavelli does not
fit the Renaissance description of what a Christian entailed. He like some of the other authors
discussed in this book, state that Machiavelli believed Christianity made the world weak, and
encouraged Christians to suffer injuries rather than to avenge them. The books main discussion depicts
heaven as a non religious place in Machiavellian ideology, instead he hearkens back to the ancients
teachings on the heavens. Heaven entails astrological connotations in Machiavelli s works, which
gives Machiavelli a certain type of naturalism. Parel s book appears difficult to read, as he makes odd
arguments concerning astrology affecting Christianity

  • 2. Essay On Dolphins There are different living places for dolphins in the world. Do you think the ocean is the only place for dolphins to live? However, actually dolphin habitats are divided into two major parts which are the wild places and the sea world though they can be found in ports, bays, gulfs and estuaries. The environments and lifestyles between the dolphins are quite different while this could possibly be because of the pollution made by human beings. The dolphins that live at Sea World are more likely to have a larger and better environment of living space than those which live in the wild. Dolphins which live at Sea World are actually known as living in the places that are called aquariums. Aquariums are the manmade places with no pollution, which means dolphins are able to have a cleaner environment to survive. In other words, they will be less likely to die because of pollution problems. In aquariums, the workers here will clean up the water in the pool every day ... So it seems they do have a better life, at least they don t even need to worry about looking for food. But think about it in this way, those dolphins just receive food without effortlessly, is it really good for them? As an old saying goes Gives the human by the fish to be inferior gives the human by the fishing. So if the dolphins cannot practice looking for food by themselves, they may lose the ability one day. In addition, dolphins that are at Sea World tend to be fed by visitors, which may pose a threat to their health. So as I have mentioned that dolphins in those two places can have different lifestyle. For example, those in the ocean usually leap over the water surface. What s more, dolphins usually have a migration as the seasons change while for those in the aquariums they may not have such habit. (Glenza, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Huck Finn Moral Education Analysis Twain argues that a moral education should come from personal experiences, he proves this through Huck s personal experiences with Jim, his inability to rat on Jim to Miss. After Huck and Jim get separated in the middle of the night, Huck tries to pull a prank on Jim and convince him that it was all a dream. Why, hain t you ever read any books at all? Baron Trenck, nor Casanova, nor Benvenuto Chelleeny, nor Henri IV., nor none of them heroes? Who ever heard of a prisoner getting loose in such an old maidy way as that? (239) Allusion in this passage to the romanticism unit not only shows Twain s dislike for romanticism but also where Tom Sawyer s morals and sense of reality comes from. Showing where Tom s morality comes from helps show where morals come from by showing where they shouldn t come from. Twain proves that they should not come from romanticism later in the book when Tom reveals that Jim has been free all along Turn him loose! he ain t no slave; he s as free as any cretur that walks this earth! How Did The Supreme Court Support The Civil Rights Movement The Supreme Court supported Civil Rights Movements by handing down a number of decisions that paved the way for the civil rights accomplishments of the1960s and 1970s. The Court s decisions promoted the creation of an atmosphere in which African Americans and American Women were optimistic about their chances of gaining fundamental human rights as well as equal rights. Aimed at breaking down the idea (laid out in Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896) that racially segregated institutions could be constitutional so long as they were equal, the decisions of the court aided in the upheaval of civil rights in the African American Civil Rights Movement. One of the most infamous Supreme Court cases in history, Rowe v. Wade of 1973 struck down a law in Texas restricting abortion. Texas formerly had a law in place that deemed it a felony for a woman to have an abortion; the courts ruled that the state s interest in protecting the health of a pregnant woman and the potential life needed to be balanced against a woman s right to privacy. The Roe v. Wade decision is what began the national debate over the morality of abortion. Phillips v. After analysing market drivers, demand and consumer behaviour, Pharmaceutical firms may choose the most strategic mode of entry to enter a market. The market entry mode is strategic and is regarded as a major factor in the Internationalisation process (Morschett et al.,2015, p.323). As illustrated below, the International market entry model outlines that Pharmaceutical firms may enter foreign markets through Exports/Imports, Subsidiaries, Mergers/Acquisitions, Joint ventures, or Licensing. Figure 2.4 An international market entry model for pharmaceutical companies. (Adapted from Javalgi Wright,2003, p.277). Joint Venture A joint venture is characterised by the need to achieve a business transaction while remaining separate from each other. Each firm maintains its resources and independence while engaging in an activity, with the objective of achieving certain objectives. Compare The Metamorphosis And It s A Wonderful Life The Metamorphosis and It s a Wonderful Life : The Importance of Family Support The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life by Francis Copler don t seem to have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature classes, and the other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common themes of unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The Metamorphosis and It s a Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go through a transformation where they see what their lives are like without them. We will examine the characters, the journeys they went through, and the different outcomes of similar experiences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gregor s transformation begins when he wakes up and is morphed into an insect, and watches his family s lives progress without him able to support himself, let alone them. In both of the transformations, the two are self sacrificing, and feel unappreciated. They are stuck in what they see as a dead end job. They are stuck in an unending cycle of work and drudgery, doing something they hate for others. Then there is a big problem in each of their lives. For George it s the possible jail time, and for Gregor it s morphing into a giant insect. With so many similarities between the two stories you might expect the outcomes to be the same, or at least similar, but they are surprisingly different. The difference between the two transformations can even be considered extremes. The two are opposites. George Bailey regains his humanity and enjoyment of life when he finds out how important to others and how loved he really is. He ends up a happy and wealthy man. Gregor on the other hand loses his humanity after finding that his family can support themselves and would be happier without him, and thru his family s betrayal and neglect dies a sad death. In particular, Beethoven s works for piano revolutionized and innovated the piano and its performance practices. His compositional works have always been considered to be some of the best works published, but not everyone realizes just how pivotal his work was in this point in music history. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 16th, 1770 to his father, Johann van Beethoven, and mother, Maria Magdalena Keverich. He lived in Bonn for about 22 years then moved to Vienna after his father passed away due to alcohol misuse. In Vienna, he was a well known German pianist and composer. His compositional works were well known for broadening the usage of instrumentation and expanding the boundaries for performance. • 8. Nuclear Power Plant Advantages And Disadvantages Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable energy and one more dollar spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more dangerous place, because nuclear power and nuclear weapons go hand in hand (Mark Z. Jacobson). Nuclear power plants are widely considered to be one of the most effective methods of producing electricity, however, they come with disastrous potentials. They are more preferred than the toxic burning of fossil fuel, which produces high amounts of greenhouse gases (Health Research Funding). However, I believe that the disadvantages and potential hazards of using nuclear power plants demean the advantages, and thus they should not be considered as a solution to energy problems. The disadvantages include the usage of non renewable fuel and the potential of long lasting destructive effects on the environment and health. Health effects Accidents A nuclear power plant acts like a thermal power station in which nuclear reactors act as the heat source (European Nuclear Society). All typical conventional thermal power stations work similarly, where heat is used to generate steam which drives a turbine connected to a generator that produces electricity (European Nuclear Society). The destruction of the Mongols across Afro Eurasia and the Black Death were the factors in which prompted the creation of the three important Islamic states. The three newly formed empires were the Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals and they controlled regions from Southern Europe to the northern part of India. According to Pollard, by the mid sixteenth century the Mughals controlled the northern Indus river valley; the Safavids occupied Persia; and the Ottomans ruled Anatolia, the Arab, world, and much of southern and eastern Europe, (Pollard, Pg. 391). The Ottoman Empire lasted the longest of the three up until the early twentieth century due to their politics, religion tolerance, and develop of commerce. The Collapse Of The Soviet Union And President Vladimir Putin Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and President Vladimir Putin s ascendency in the early 2000s, he and his government have been hell bent on reclaiming Russia s old title of a world superpower. In conjunction with his administration, Putin has commandeered Russia s identity to the narrative of being an energy superpower by using the nation s most effective weapon: the country s energy resources. Peter Behr s article for the Congressional Quarter Global Researcher titled Energy Nationalism, seeks to demonstrate and explain why and how Russia in addition to other countries such as China and Venezuela became so nationalistic and protective of its energy resources. Furthermore, Since the oil age began more than a century ago, governments in the developing world on both the right and left have promised their people a fair share of the wealth...Instead, black gold has spawned corruption, economic hardship, vast class differences and civil war (Behr 2007). When politically creating a nation s identity on the world s stage, leaders incorporate the benefits and effects of human, material, and natural resources. Since these are constantly evolving variables, a country s identity, particularly relating to natural resources, is constantly evolving as well. • 11. Effects Of Classical Conditioning In A Bite Of China Introduction The psychology theory seems to be professional, and it is hard to use in daily lives in many common people s views. However, some principles are used widely in TV shows or movies. For example, classical conditioning can make people to perform a specific behavior after several times training . In the essay, the author will introduce a TV show called A Bite of China and discuss how the TV show use classical conditioning. Background information Classical Conditioning Classical Conditioning was founded by a Russian physiologist, Ivan P. Pavlov, in the early 1900s. At first, He assumed that animals have automatic connections called unconditioned reflexes, which is a reflection between a fixed stimulus and response such as the food and secreting digestive juices. He speculated that the stimulus can be transferred from one to another. After that, Pavlov did the experiments and get the conclusion. In the process, he gave a dog food and the dog salivated. The connection between the food and the salivation was automatic requiring no training. The food was called unconditioned stimulus (UCS) and the salivation was called unconditioned response (UCR). The UCS is an event that automatically elicits an UCR. In other words, the UCR is the action that the UCS elicits. Next, Pavlov introduced a new stimulus, such as a metronome. At the beginning, the dogs heard the metronome but did not salivate. In this period, the metronome was a neutral stimulus (NS) about salivation. After ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in the marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go smoothly. However, certain men in the 19th century began to degrade women. Making women feel worthless and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the domestic duties that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play Trifles, the play writer wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is wrong to assume something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play, written by Susan Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as equal. In the play, Hale stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The word trifles means something unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying that women worry over the small things in life, instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in the play, the women focusing over trifles is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to have an upper hand over the men. Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn from her mother s example that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected of her when she grew up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many different ways. It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable to any family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that the County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the sink instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful quick. Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying to take ... • 16. The National Minimum Drinking Age Act Of 1984 Replacing the Old Fashion Around the world new adults are flaunting their new found responsibilities consuming alcohol at the average age of 18. However, unlike most countries in the world the United States has determined to establish their drinking age to be set at 21 years of age. This antiquated position is unjust to many young American adults. The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 should be revised and reconstituted to the legal age of 18. To provide a more suitable America that is secure and reasonable for all young adults. The drinking age needs to be lowered so that it can reduce traffic fatalities, reduce binge drinking, and allow young adults to understand an old ongoing tradition. It s time to reconsider the drinking age to allow a safer environment for everyone. Drinking and driving is still a problem today, and can even be seen in young adults. The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 was instituted to reduce drunk driving. According to Michelle Minton, a fellow in consumer policy studies at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, states due to this act ages of 18 and 21 actually increased traffic fatalities of those between the ages of 18 and 24 by three percent. (Minton 22). • 17. Difference Between Alphabetistic And Alphabetic Writing... Alphabetic and Logographic writing systems almost symbolizes two major cultures in the world. The Western, Rome, Greece is where the alphabet was created and developed over the course of centuries. Alphabetic Writing System such as Latin, French, and English had been used as the main language and device of Western Culture. Particularly English, it is the franca langua. Although English dominates most of the globe, through colonization, political powers and such, English or any other alphabetic writing system before that failed to be completely dominant. The reason is the existence of logographic writing systems particularly Eastern ones, Chinese as the most relevant example. China was by definition, an empire and it did have many influences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This proves that the rise of English is not dominant. Why is that? Why is one writing system not completely dominates the other? There are two reasons for that which is the enormous civilization and culture that was already built upon these writing systems and the fundamentals difference between these two writing systems. First of all, what are these Alphabetic and Logographic writing systems and why are they fundamentally different? The alphabetic writing system, the original principle of the alphabetic writing system, in strong contrast to ideographic writing, is a visualization of speech. Ideally each letter represents one speech sound (grapheme phoneme correspondence), and rules govern combinations from this small set of basic symbols into higher order linguistic units.(1) While on the other hand, in a logographic writing system, in theory, each symbol represents one idea. (2). The main advantage of the alphabet principle is the consistency of the spelling for each word. Because words consistent spelling, the alphabetic systems have many patterns recurring in many words making it easier to learn. Also Alphabetic words, since the spelling ... Comparing Hitchcock s Films, Shadow of a Doubt and Vertigo Francois Truffaut, when referring to Hitchcock said that he exercises such complete control over all the elements of his films and imprints his personal concepts at each step of the way, Hitchcock has a distinctive style of his own. He is undoubtedly one of the few film makers on the horizon today whose screen signature can be identified as soon as the picture begins. Another common theme in Hitchcock s two films is the female loss/lack of identity. In Shadow of a Doubt, Young Charlie feels alone and empty until her uncle comes to town. Initially, she is nothing without him. Comparably, in Vertigo, Judy is nothing to Scottie or herself. He wants her to be exactly like Madeline and she does it for him. The initial exposition is extremely sympathetic towards Miss Gee. The way in which irony is introduced in stanza 5, where Auden says that Miss Edith Gee attends St. Aloysius church, is clever because St Aloysius overcame his disease of the plague, whereas Miss Gee has a substantially different fate. Financialisation is the process in which financial institutions/markets increase in size and gain greater influence over economic policy and outcomes (Palley, 2007).Another link to financialisation is high degree of leverage. This is because with leverage, you can get a loan for 9/10s of the money, so you only need a small portion, and you are able to make lots of profit. Leverage is linked to financialisation in a sense that if it works, you get lots of profit with a working system, however if it doesn t work, then you can lose lots of money, and in high degrees of leverage, you can be losing lots of money by the investment not working out, and someone then has to pay off the loaned money. In this essay, I will be analysing whether or not financialisation was the main cause of the 2008 global financial crisis, or if there were other factors involved in the great recession. I will be arguing that financialisation was a cause of the crash, but because it was aided by other factors, it is not the sole reason behind the collapse. The points that I will be making in my argument will be in relation to the financial crisis in the context of financialisation, talking about market deregulation and subprime mortgages. While most books that were written in the 1970s about technology and economy run the risk of becoming outdated very, Schumacher has done an excellent job of addressing the root of the issues, including materialistic consumption versus happiness, which seem to be timeless. As the gold lily dies, it asks to be saved by the one who raised it, but one who is helpless to fulfill the request. At the same time, the poem gives voice to a voiceless creature: a flower. Also, as an extended metaphor, the flower gives voice to the human subject on the eve of death, a creature unavoidably wasting its voice pleading with a being who cannot hear, does not listen, cannot help, or is not there at all. European auto industry poised for a rebound Europe s beleaguered auto industry endured a six year slump, with auto sales falling to the lowest level in nearly two decades, as a sluggish economic recovery put a brake of spending. She envied her daughter s beauty and sends a huntsman to kill Snow White. Snow White is then all alone and unable to care for herself and becomes dependent of the Seven Dwarfs. Although she is the main character, she is also the weakest character in the story. In Fables, we encounter a very different Snow White. Here Snow White oversees the town, Fabletown. Unlike the original fairytale story, there are no Dwarfs looking after her. She doesn t need a Prince to come to her rescue because she is the hero in her own right. Her fierceness makes her a strong female who embodies power. Unlike the Little Snow White, in Fables Snow White is the head in charge, she s independent, and bold. Snow White is the head in charge who runs a town called Fabletown. She still needs to run things by the Mayor but overall, she is the face of Fabletown. Others come to her with their problems in hopes of a solution. Contrary to the Snow White we know from the original fairytales where Snow White is not in charge of anything and no one comes to her for solutions. Instead, she has the seven dwarfs looking out for her. For example, when the queen tried to kill her they said, It must have been the queen who tried to kill you, take care, and do not let anyone in again (Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm). This shows pity on the dwarf s behalf because they knew she was unable to care for herself. However, in Fables, Snow White is now the one looking out for others. For example, Beauty and the Beast come to Snow White for help with their marriage. Although, Snow White was not able to give them a solution, she was now on the opposite end of the table unlike the young and naïve Snow from the fairytale who sought others for her problems. First being, that if one spouse cannot demonstrate more than one half of a child s support is provided by them, a multiple support agreement must be filed. Next, if one taxpayer itemizes their deductions they must both take itemized deduction and same goes if one person takes a standard deduction, the other must as well. If filing status was to be separate, neither spouse can claim the earned income credit and the credit for child and dependent care expenses. Next, no deduction is allowed for the interest paid on educations loans, and only $1,500 of excess capital losses can be claimed by each person. From a tax planning perspective, more details would have to be known about the Ouray s expenses in order to determine the best course of action. • 35. Rise Above the Misery in Les Misérables by Victor Hugo... As the era of literature slowly declines, the expert critiques and praise for literature are lost. Previously, novels were bursting at the seams with metaphors, symbolism, and themes. In current times, novels are simply short stories that have been elaborated on with basic plot elements that attempt to make the story more interesting. Instead of having expert critical analysis written about them, they will, most likely, never see that, as recent novels have nothing to analyze. Even books are beginning to collect dust, hidden away and forgotten, attributing to the rise of companies such as Spark Notes. An author deserves to have his work praised, no matter how meager and the masses should have the right to embrace it or to reject it. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, another critic believes that the morals and peer pressure of a dauntless society are what causes Man to become evil. This evil slowly forces them to progress into hardened ruffians that are forced to resort to a pis aller in order to regain some hope for themselves. Thus, society cannot evolve (Lewes 245). Contrary to what Reeves believes, Critic Moss believes that misfortune is the sole cause of one s faults and that the main theme of the novel is the barrier between those who choose degradation and those who are driven to it (228). Furthermore, the critic Napierkowski believes that the meaning of life is love and that through the love that all people receive, any number of traits can be changed. She explicates that change is extremely relevant in the case of Jean Valjean who is a convict turned upstanding citizen. She also recalls that in the novel Valjean is only transformed due to the love he receives from the Bishop of Digne, who gave Valjean everything that he had (Novels for Students). Reeves, again, also explores the concept that Hugo is trying to prove that humans need to love each other for the world to be a happier place (Masterplots). Thus, through evidence in Les Misérables, the aforementioned themes can easily be proven. As the novel progresses, the two major themes of love altering one s soul and misfortune being ... They could not pass laws, they could not appoint ministers and they could not control finance in such important areas as defence. There are lots of opinions as whether the Tzar was fit to rule Russia. In my opinion, the Tzar was not fit to rule Russia but this was by no means his own fault. He was taught as a soldier and he was not taught to act and behave like a king so it was his statesmanship that was at fault, not him himself!! The War. The war did not only effect the army but the people at home. Food was getting short, all the male peasants had to be taken off to the army so only women and invalids were left to tend the farms, shops .etc. All the working trains were being put to use for the war effort so food was not getting through from other places. Malcolm X told his life story of how he overcame in his autobiography simply called The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley. His life changed the world historically, socially, and especially politically by taking a stand against racism of all kinds which still exists in today s modern standards. Using his personal life experience with racism towards African Americans, Malcolm spreads the word on equality for all with a realistic tone that inspires trust in him. Malcolm X reaches all kinds of people in an effort to voice his thoughts on equality for all using rhetorical and persuasive techniques for a more effective message. From the beginning, the story Malcolm X tells uses a tone of realism and relatability to establish a dominant impression upon the reader s mind. An example of this tone is when Malcolm, at a young age, accepts his ultimate fate that had just befallen his father. Malcolm tells Alex that It has always been my belief that I, too, will die by violence. I have done all that I can to be prepared (4). The definitiveness he says this with is not an attempt at making readers feel empathy for him, but to appeal to logic by presenting this as a fact of the kind of world he lives in. Regarding consumables, buyers are looking for the best bargain for an item that they will need to purchase again in the near future. The high threat of customer buying power drives profitability down. In contrast to buyer power, supplier power is low. This is due to the large number of suppliers that offer price competitive, undifferentiated products. Suppliers must rely on the retail industry to sell their product, so forward integration is unlikely. The low threat of supplier power increases profitability. The threat of substitutes is medium. Since extreme value retailers offer a focused assortment of goods in a small box format, mass retailers such as Wal Mart and Target are substitutes rather than competitors. On one hand, mass retailers have a larger assortment of branded goods, economies of scale, and are highly price competitive with extreme value retailers. On the other hand, extreme value retailers are more convenient due to the small box format, allowing a customer to get in and out quickly. The products being sold are undifferentiated so price performance tradeoff is low. The threat of new entrants into the industry is medium. Another thing the two sonnets share is metaphorical language; it used to imply a comparison between two things that are unrelated but share some common ground. Christina Rossetti establishes an idea of metaphorically remaining alive through remembrance. The juxtaposition in line 1, Remember me and gone away implies that the poet suggests that the memory is the last thing a person has that still ties them to life. Henry Longfellow utilizes metaphorical language when he compares a tangible object to emotions. He includes, There is a mountain.../that.../displays a cross of snow upon its side. / Such is the cross I wear upon my breast (lines 9 12). The image of a mountain that bears a cross shape filled with snow manifests an image of the angelic figure going towards heaven. Longfellow purposely used a mountain to further implicate religious ideas; the height of the mountain shows that is closer to heaven because it is going upward. China has made great progresses and overcome great disasters. It has worked closely alongside the World Bank and even receives technical support from it when needed.
