Use Of Pressure In Ender s Game By Orson Scott Card
With the advancement of technology new complex jobs exist. Who else to do the jobs, other than
humanity s own youth? The pressure for humanity s youth to succeed is greater than before, In
Ender s Game, Ender is always under pressure, and it takes its toll. Orson Scott Card uses the
character of Ender to demonstrate the pressure that human society puts on its youth to succeed
today, through Catharsis, Imagery and Symbolism
Catharsis is used multiple times to show the stress and pressure on Ender. Usually Catharsis in the
novel is the result of Ender s Stress
When Ender confronts Colonel graff, and Mazer Rackham, after discovering his simulation was
real Ender yells:
You tricked me into it! He was crying, He was out of control (Card 342) ... Show more content on

Catharsis is shown, as multiple yelling moments and multiple emotions are shown.
Unlike the previous scene, when Ender was yelling, in this scene, Ender is worn out, and while
Colonel Graff points out that some people want him dead, Ender replies:
And they want you dead. Fine with me! (Card 343)
As a nine year old child, Ender should be happy and energized, but what the reader sees through
the novel, Ender gets less like a child and the pressure from before, even though relieved, does still
take a toll on him, showing that pressure the human race puts on it s youth to succeed, even when
taken off,can still take its toll.
Through catharsis, In the novel, Ender s Game, Orson Scott card shows the reader real resemblance
through major pressures in the novel, and in reality s schools and lives.
Unlike catharsis, Imagery makes the reader sympathise for characters, and experience situations.
Orson Scott Card uses imagery to focus the reader s attention to details and exhaustion that Ender
feels.
In this scene, Ender is explaining negative points, about leading an army, not sleeping much and
having to bear losses. Orson Scott Card

The Effects Of Cloning On Human Life
Weston Erbert
Mrs. McEwen
English 12
11 February 2016 The Effects of Cloning
Cloning. The very word instills feelings of excitement, hope, possibilities and a montage of
futuristic images of test tubes and beakers and DNA ladders spinning through space. But the word
also conjures anxiety, fear and internal struggle over right and wrong, good vs. evil, science vs.
religion. The cloning of vital organs or cells to cure diseases could potentially save the lives of
millions of people around the world. Throughout the past, experiments have shown the benefits that
cloning can give the people of the world. It could give people who cannot reproduce because of
infertility a chance to give birth to their own children. If cloning is used ... Show more content on

With the current tests on the cloning of animals, it shows that, even with the small chance that they
do survive birth, many of the test subjects were born with abnormalities and unhealthy diseases,
and died early in their lives (Jaenisch 2787). According to a survey in an article done by Joshua
May, in 2014 that only 13% of Americans believe cloning humanbeings is generally morally
acceptable (26). Manali Oak, an author for Buzzle.com, states that the cloning of the human race
may slowly cause a change in how people evolve and adapt since the human body will no longer
need to build immunities or be hardened by the toughness in nature (3). He believes cloning would
provide the opportunity for the human race with the ability to cure anything and avoid sickness,
which would leave humans defenseless if a situation arises and cloning is unavailable for use (3).

The Problem Of Vaccines For Pharmaceutical Companies
Another claim against immunization is personal opposition to big pharmaceutical companies. Some
believe vaccines are charged to patients solely for profit. This pharmaceutical profit motive can call
into question product safety and integrity. The overwhelming majority of vaccines are not highly
profitable though (Lam). Due to the massive investment of time and funds required to create
vaccines, coupled with only marginal returns on this investment, pharmaceutical corporations do
not focus on them. As result, nonprofit health organizations and political agencies such as the
CDC, and the WHO, generally lead the charge in vaccinedevelopment. It is a real danger that
companies will stop developing vaccines altogether (Lam). Drug companies instead concentrate on
well, drugs. Continuous treatment medications require patients to purchase repeatedly, until it is no
longer necessary. (In some cases, patients may even take certain drugs until death.) The time
interval of vaccinations is, at the very least, yearly. In the case of the flu, rather than one flu shot,
pharmaceutical companies can profit more from selling antivirals, painkillers, and a host of other
treatments to patients that contract viral sickness. Medications, rather than cures are economically
desirable. As a biochemistry student myself, upon graduating I face the decision between
conducting decent paying scientific research or developing pharmaceuticals with the opportunity of
making upwards of $200,000 a year for

Desert Dolphins Research Paper
On Thursday, June 22, the Blythe Desert Dolphins hosted their second home swim meet, where
they competed against the Brawley Sunstrokers and the Holtville Stingrays at the Palo Verde
High School pool. The Desert Dolphins went head to head with 34 Brawley swimmers and 13
Holtville swimmers. Making a huge splash in the water, tough competitors from the Desert
Dolphins swam hard and did their best to take home well deserved ribbons in each category. With
dynamic strokes and fast speed, the dolphins glided through the water effortlessly, completing 25
and 50 yards per event. Doing the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, some notable
performances from the meet were by: 6 year old Joseph Hawpe taking home 2nd place in the 25

Effectiveness Of Drug Treatment Courts
The Effectiveness of Drug Treatment Courts: An Overview of Three Empirical Studies
Tincen Vithayathil
University of Baltimore
The Effectiveness of Drug Treatment Courts: Three Empirical Studies Since the origination of
drug treatment courts, there has been countless numbers of offenders who have successfully
completed the program and fought their way past drug abuse. There are also a handful of
offenders who may have struggled to change their drug abuse or addiction, and fell short of
completing the program. In this second part of my report, I will be determining whether drug
treatment court programs actually work. To accomplish this task, I will be reviewing three
empirical studies to evaluate how effective the program truly is. The first empirical study that I will
be reviewing is the Orange County Juvenile Drug Court (OCJDC) located in Orange County,
California between 1999 and 2006 (Fradella, Fischer, Kleinpeter, Koob, 2009). This study
consists of 232 teenagers (164 males and 68 females) with the age of these individuals ranging
between 12 and 17 years (Fradella et al., 2009). In this study, researchers attempt to understand
why Latino teenagers were graduating from drug treatment court (DTC) at a much lower rate than
rest of the teenagers at the same institution (Fradella et al., 2009). In the Orange County Juvenile
Drug Court, 97% of the offenders are Latino or Caucasian (Fradella et al., 2009). However, Latinos

Stigma and cultural norms, along with poor diagnosis or medical infrastructure, could be
undermining prevalence rates, masking the amount of children that have autism in developing
countries. (Maguire, 2013)
According to the DSM 5 Autism is define as neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by
impaired social interaction, verbal and non verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive
behavior. Although we have yet to talk about autism in class I did write about it in my previous
assignment. Autism effects the processing of the brain, which tends to delay development and
language. Around cultures autism is widely known.
In the U.S. Children with ASD can grow and can learn, however it s at a different development
rate than other healthy children. Many professionals studying the field of autism can agree that
developing an appropriate community based education and treatment program for an individual
with ASD at an early age is a very important step to ensuring that the child will reach his or her
potential. Not saying that older children or adults cannot learn or develop, it just may take longer
or children may do it quicker.
Autism is considered a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first
three years of a child s life. The result of this neurological disorder affects the functioning of the
brain by slowing the development of language and cognitive processing autism and its associated
behaviors have been estimated to occur

The Court Of Justice Of The European Union
Jaouad El Majdoub v. CarsOnTheWeb.Deutschland GmbH.
Judgement of the Court of Justice of the European Union (Third Chamber) of 21 May 2015
I.Introduction
With its almost recent ruling the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereinafter, CJEU) in the
case of Jaouad El Majdoub has focused on the concept of click wrapping agreement and its
compatibility with Article 23(2) of the Brussels I Regulation. Exclusively, the question of whether
the jurisdiction clauses which are incorporated within the general terms and conditions of the
electronic contracts via click wrapping method could be regarded as a durable record. The case
that was referred for a preliminary ruling to the CJEU by the Landgricht Krefeld German Court was

III.Procedural History
As to the matter of jurisdiction, El Majdoub alleged that the Landgricht Krefeld is the competent
court to proceed with the case because, Cotw as the defendant in the main proceedings is the party
to the sale contract which has been concluded between them also it is based in Germany (not in
Belgium).
On the contrary, Cotw argued that the courts in Germany are not competent authority to proceed
with the case based on two reasons. Firstly, on the website there is an agreement within Article 7 of
the general terms and conditions of online sales contracts that grants the jurisdiction to a court in
Leuven, Belgium. Furthermore, the defendant in the main proceedings contended that the real
party to the contract is the mother company which is established in Belgium while the plaintiff in
the main proceedings is well aware of that because the invoice which was sent to him contained the
contract details of the mother company and the money was paid to a Belgian bank account.
In spite of this, El Majdoub argued that the choice of court agreement acknowledged in Article 7
is not in writing, so it does not comply with Article 23(1) (a) of the Brussels I Regulation. In
addition, the general terms and conditions of the sale contract were incorporated in a webpage
which opens through clicking on a click box indicating to click here to open the

Cubist Pharmaceutical Company Actavis, Inc.
Pharmaceutical company Actavis PLC is expected to sell more than $20 billion in bonds.
Actavis, one of the world s largest generic drug companies, plans to use the money to help pay
for its $66 billion acquisition of Botox maker Allergan Inc. The deal comes on the heels of an $8
billion bond sale by Merck Co., which planned to use the cash to buy Cubist Pharmaceuticals Inc.
(Cherney, 2015) The large debt sale from Actavis underscores how investors are buying up income
generating investments when yields on safe government debt remain low. Corporate bonds pay
more yield than safe government debt to compensate for the greater risk that investors won t get
paid back. (Cherney, 2015) At $21 billion, Actavis s bond was second only to Verizon

Ursa Minor Research Papers
My Cherished Constellation is Ursa Minor, also known as the little dipper. I have always been
drawn to Ursa Minor because I have a series of moles on my leg that, as a child, I would play
connect the dots on and discovered it looked a lot like the little dipper. I also had a special
connection to the Ursa Minorconstellation because it is often depicted as the little bear and bears
are one of my favorite animals. Ursa Minor is the 56th constellation in size and contains one of the
brightest stars and most significant stars in the sky, the North Star (or Polaris). This constellation
belongs to the Ursa Majorfamily of constellations, which includes such constellations as Draco,
Leo, Lync, Corona Borealis and Ursa Major. Ursa Minor is a really interesting constellation with a

A Look at Ethical Perspectives Essay example
A Look at Ethical Perspectives While it would be nice to think that it is easy to make decisions
and all come to the same conclusion, this is not always the case. Unfortunately, even regarding
ethical decisions where you may think a right and wrong way exist may not be easy to determine.
Since everyone has different backgrounds and therefore, different perspectives, we may not agree
on what the best course of action is to take in a difficult decision. While I believe that character is
the most important, someone else may think that as long as the majority is satisfied that their
decision is best. An exercise created by the Williams Institute for Ethicsand Management looks at
four different perspectives which are referred to using... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately the boss found someone else to lie to the customer, but when he needed to find
someone to trust, he would go to Matt. Not every decision is this easy to make, but through study
and close attention to mistakes made by myself and others, I am able to increase the wisdom
needed to give a virtuous answer.
Obligation
The names of the perspectives speak mostly for themselves. Obligation is making sure that the
decision that is made is fair to all and that everyone is treated as equals (Weiss, 2006). The thought
is that we should have a duty to all humanity. This however, presents a challenge when attempting
to make a prompt decision and having to analyze the consequences that it will have on everyone.
When choices are made from this perspective, an individual may not use his or her first thought of
what is right or wrong, but instead what they think the majority of people would identify as being
right. Generally this would be very similar to the character perspective as considering the effect
on society as a whole would be an honest choice; however, this may not always be the case. When
I consider integrity, I think of Godly values which are occasionally distorted by society due to man
believing that he knows what is best.
Results
In most business decisions, organizations have to determine if the ends justify the means. This is
the correct method most of the time, but may not be acceptable in all ethical decisions. However,

Crooks Dialectical Journal
After reading chapter 3 and 4 of the novel Of Mice and Men, an important quote stood out to me
among the rest of the passage. On page 68, Crooks responded to Lennie s sudden entrance, You
go on get outta my room. I ain t wanted in the bunkhouse, and you ain t wanted in my room.
Earlier chapters describe how he was not allowed to sleep in the bunkhouse with everyone else
and had to be separated in a room by himself. Moreover, it is a rare occasion does people ever visit
him, on the exception for Slim. The obvious interpretation would be the connection it holds to the
racism that existed at the time, but I perceived a deeper connection behind his response.
Although Crooks is a diligent and hardworking stable buck, he experiences loneliness from unequal
treatment by others. Thus, his impetuous response to Lennie came from the hardships he went
through for being the only African American on the ranch. To some extent, people s comments and
actions reflect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

say he stunk at playing it. All the injustice Crooks faced is directly affecting upon how he treats
others. Author John Steinbeck does a phenomenal job in conveying important ideas through
characters such as Crooks. This specific quote stood out to me because it reminded me of how
this idea can be applied to problems we as a society are facing today, of one such as bullying. Not
only does this quote refer to discrimination at the time, it also suggest the idea such that people
often treat others the way they had been

Hospital-Associated Infection
Hand hygiene has been identified as one of the simplest, but the most significant measure to prevent
and control the spread of hospital acquired infections (WHO, 2009). Furthermore, it is also
considered a cheap measurement for infection control (Allegranzi et al., 2007). Hand hygiene
compliance among healthcare workers is underutilised and interventions to develop it are absent
sustainability in developing countries (Gould et al., 2008). In the mid 1880s, the Austrian physician
Ignaz P. Semmelweis was the first doctor who reported the critical role of the hands of the
healthcare providers in transmitting hospitalacquired infections (Allegranzi and Pittet, 2008).
Hospital acquired infections (HAI) remain a big challenge to the patient safety (WHO, 2009). It
affects hundreds of million individuals worldwide ever year (Allegranzi et al., 2007). Healthcare

Dumb Blonde Stereotypes
Lastly, one of the most common or everyday recurring stereotypes around the world is a woman s
delicateness and feebleness. The generic vulnerability of women has become a seemingly
meaningless attribute to our society, spurring jokes and objects of ridicule. Being seen as feminine
is still an issue in our society. To many it is belittling and insulting to be called feminine, which
enforces the stereotype even more if you already are a female(Greenwood, Ambivalent Sexismand

blonde . Characteristics of this joke include the stigma of a blonde s stupidity and inability to

The critique team would add that there is likely to be cannibalization of the catalogue business
because the models are so closely related. Staples should commission a study to find estimated rates
of cannibalization so that an orderly response can be implemented.
The analysis team is also correct that Staples.com should focus on market share over wallet share.
The market is very large and growing fast. The critique team would add that by capturing online
market share ahead of competitors, Staples.com can reduce the cost of overcoming competitor
customer loyalty in the online market. The switching cost will still be absent for many customers
that are new to the internet office supplies market.
The critique team would add that Staples catalogue business increased wallet share by a factor of
three. This is the very business that will likely be cannibalized in the ordinary course of business
by opening the online store. Staples should not spend too much money on trying to increase wallet
share when it will likely be transitioning between business units. However, Staples should still take
the opportunity to market services as a way to expand customer wallet. All marketing expenditures
on promoting new services market share will spill over into wallet share. Any wallet share
campaign on services should be lower priority than market share marketing.

Tracking and Finding Patterns to Earthquakes
Marmara Region of Istanbul has a history of catastrophic earthquakes such as the ones that struck
on 17 August 1999 (Mw=7.4) and12 November 1999 (Mw=7.2). This led to the introduction of
Istanbul Earthquake Rapid Response and Early Warning System (IERREWS) as a preventive
measure for future earthquakes occurrences. This system consists of a dense network of 100 strong
motion recorders located in the metropolitan area of Istanbul, 10 near the Great Marmara Fault and
40 more located at important structures (Mert et al 2004). The early warning systemof the
(IERREWS) is based on exceeding of predetermined thresholds values for the peak ground
acceleration (PGA) and Cumulative Absolute Velocity(CAV) it has three alarm levels. If the value
of CAV exceeds the threshold value it is considered a vote and within a specified time interval if
the threshold value is exceeded in 2 or 3 stations the first alarm is declared. The original CAV
has been modified to Bracketed CAV (BCAV) which is a summation of the maximum
acceleration value exceeding a threshold value within a specific time domain generally at a one
second interval. A recently modified version of the BCAV called the Windowed Bracketed CAV
(BCAV W) has been suggested which integrates the maximum acceleration values for a window
length of 8 seconds. For the bracketed CAV window the threshold values suggested for the three
alarm levels are 0.20, 0.40 and 0.70 m/s (Alcik et al 2009).

which included a Heisman Trophy win. The Los Angeles Rams of the NFL were the first in signing

Philadelphia Ball Club V Lajoie (Page 83 in Textbook)
Background
The Philadelphia Ball Club was challenging a judgment from Pennsylvania s trial court, which
refused to enforce an injunction against Lajoie for breach of his contract. The court felt that to do
so would render Lajoie so valuable to the ball club that his breach of contract would lead to
irreparable damages. The court felt that the player s value was not that high, and that the language
in the contract in which the ball club could discharge the player at anytime without the player being
allowed to do the same lead to this decision.
The Facts Of The Case
Lajoie signed to play for a rival team during the terms of an existing contract that specifically stated
that Lajoie had not had the right to do so. His value was not determined highly enough to make the
breach of contract valid, leading to the ball club appealing the decision.
Legal Issue At Hand
Was it right that the player s value was not high enough to hold him legally responsible for his
breach of contract?
Appellees Argument
The Ball Club argued that the withdrawal of the player did in fact hurt the ball club, as would

Sensory Processing Analysis
Themes of Sensory Processing Introduction Humans have five means of sensing information, which
are hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and seeing (Breedlove Watson, 2013). All incoming
information is sensed in a similar way for each of the five modalities. The sensory receptor organs
filter the information that we come into contact with by deciding which information to pay
attention to and which information to ignore. The event that activates the sensory organ is
referred to as a stimulus; hence, feeling a finger on your arm, hearing music, or seeing an object
are all referred to as stimuli. Additionally, we have receptor cells within or sensory organs, the
receptor cells perceive specific types of simulation and convert the sensed stimuli... Show more

Sheryl Sandberg s Criticism Of Lean In
In 2013, Sheryl Sandberg released the best selling novel, Lean in, that calls on professional
women to lean in by aiming for leadership positions in their jobs and examines what factors
prevent woman from doing so. Last year, her non profit organization launched a public awareness
campaign, Lean In Together, or #LeanInTogether, to partner with the NBA and WNBA. This
campaign was focused on men s roles in reaching genderequality. However, the book and
campaign has faced its criticism. Reviewers have deemed the book too narrowly focused on
women like Sandberg who are educated, white, and provided with opportunities out of the reach of
an average female. Other critics have questioned Sandberg s relevant guidance to the average

I choose FIFA because of the giant inequality gap between the men and the women. LeanIn is
designed the bring men and women together, and FIFA should embrace this as it s been proven
that there is a big audience for women s soccer. 26.7 million viewers watched the 2015 FIFA
Women s World Cup Final. However, women s soccer is not treated equally with the men. Sepp
Blatter is on record saying that women players should wear short shorts to gain more viewers.
Also, the women World Cup games were played on artificial turf causing opposed to the men who
played on grass, and men s games are given incredible investment and promotion, that the women do
not receive. The FIFA LeanIn program would heavily emphasize promoting the women as equal to
the men. Giving the women players the same type of investment given to promoting the men can
go a long way to driving interest and attendance for the women. To further promote this movement,
men s leagues such as the Premier League can invoke a uniform change where players wear jersey
badges that promote the LeanIn campaign along with placing banners around the field. Without
heavily investing into equal rights and equipment, the gap between the men and women will never

the racial injustices and sexual exploitation of African American women. Baartman is a female

The Battle Of Valenciennes
The Battle of Valenciennes was the final touch to solidify Canada as a military force. Once again,
Canadians used their exemplary offences to capture yet another French city. According to Carl
PГ©pin, central Valenciennes is flat land, while the south (Mont Houy) and the east is higher
ground. The north east and south west Valenciennes were flooded including Scheldt Canal, which
was covered in barbed wire to protect the Germans. Knowing this, Lieutenant General Currie and
the British Generals had the British Corps take Mont Houy then the Canadian Corps would capture
the city. On October 28, a Scottish division had to capture Mont Houy, but failed. In its place, the
Canadian Corps was sent to capture it. On November 1, 1918 Canadian troops surrounded the

The following day, the Canadians took over the rest of the city. The troops invaded from the

and all German forces were either captured or killed. The Battle of Valenciennes was where
Canadians showed what they learned from their four years at war. Mont Houy is similar in shape

Finally, the product offerings in Taiwan were more localized to meet Taiwanese consumers needs
and technology was also integrated into the concept.
Q3: How the 7 Eleven stores in Taiwan compare with their counterparts in the US?
The first Taiwanese 7 Eleven store was launched by PCSC in 1980. As the local franchisee,
PCSC kept the store logo and the core of convenience store concept that was well established in
America. By contrast, other aspects of the store chain had been re formatted. For the layout, 7
Eleven in Taiwan had smaller average store area of 700 m2, only a quarter of that in the US. In
terms of product offerings, despite providing basic daily use products as the US model, the
Taiwanese 7 Eleven stores also served local common foods such as tea egg, luwei and biandang.
Furthermore, innovative services were the distinctive traits of Taiwanese 7 Eleven. In spite of the
high level of operations, PCSC also extended the concept of customer convenience to the
information technology(IT). For example, 7 Eleven in Taiwan introduced e commerce (i Bon
reserve train or opera tickets), e payment (i Cash), mobile communications (phone cards and the
Internet) , pickup and delivery (books and auction items). Finally, the value chain was improved

Compare And Contrast The Wanderer And To Penshurst
1. Consider carefully both The Wanderer and To Penshurst. Do descriptions of the past have
similar qualities and effects in these two works? Why or why not? In answering this question, you
will need to consider carefully how each author invokes the past and why the past is important in
each of these texts.

Answer #1 The Wandered versus To Penshurst:
When comparing The Wandererand To Penshurst, there are stark differences in the way the past
is evoked and viewed because the former is elegiac and the later is idyllic. On a basic level, The
Wanderer is a classic example of elegy because it expresses sadness over what the the Wandered
has lost as he laments for the death of an era in his life. This lamentation can been in the opening
when the Wanderer says Often the lone dweller longs for relief (1) or Therefore I don t know why
my woeful / heart should not wax dark (58 9). Essentially, the entire poem consists of the Wanderer
waxing dark about lost kin/wealth/loneliness and because of negativity he longs for relief. To
Penshurst, on the other hand, recalls glorious moments both past and present with an air of content
nostalgia. To Penshurst s narrator does this by actively addressing the country house through
personification and apostrophe which gives the property a sense of importance in identity. Penhurst

Animal Experimentation Should Be Used For Research
For several years, supporters and scientists have been arguing about whether the practice of
animals research should be used. Many people believe animals are needed for research, while
others think it is not fair for animals to be sacrificed and treated poorly during research. Animals
used for research has bettered many human lives by new discoveries and advantages. Many people
such as doctors, scientists, hospitals, research institutes use animal research to view how the human
body works and to advance in scientific understanding. The first animal experiment started in the
UK in the late 17th century with Harvey s experiments on several species to demonstrate blood
circulation. Even greek physicians such as Aristotle and Erasistratus has performed experiments on
living things between the years 384 322 BC and 304 258 BC.
Animal experimentation should still be used for research because it has greatly benefited many
human lives that has been saved making all the animal testing worth it.
Animal experimentation have been used for testing and developing new ways for disease
treatments. Many scientist believe they share the same disease as humans such as high blood
pressure, cancer and lots of other common diseases. Cancer is one of the treatments that have been
developed by animal testing. Due to Animal testing, survival cancer has doubled in last 40 years,

Donald Trump has voiced his strong opposition to Mexicans being in the United States; he even

Causes Of The Montgomery Bus Boycott
The Montgomery bus boycott, a seminal event in the Civil Rights Movement, was a political
and social protest campaign against the policy of racial segregation on the public transit system
of Montgomery, Alabama. The campaign lasted from December 5, 1955 which was the Monday
after Rosa Parks, an African American woman, was arrested for refusing to surrender her seat to
a white person to December 20, 1956, when a federal ruling, Browder v. Gayle, took effect, and
led to a United States Supreme Court decision that declared the Alabama and Montgomery laws
requiring segregated buses to be unconstitutional. Many important figures in the Civil Rights
Movement took part in the boycott, including Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and Ralph
Abernathy. Events leading up to the bus boycott. Prior to the bus boycott, Jim Crow laws
enabled the racial segregation of the Montgomery Bus Line. As a result of this segregation
African Americans were not hired as drivers, were forced to ride in the back of the bus, and
were frequently ordered to surrender their seats to white people even though black passengers
made up 75% of the bus system s riders. The boycott also took place within a larger statewide and
national movement for civil rights, including court cases such as Morgan v. Virginia, the earlier
Baton Rouge bus boycott, and the arrest of Claudette Colvin. This civil right movement had a lot

The Pros And Cons Of Blue Collar Work
Why is it that blue collar work is looked down on compared to white collar work? There is equal
value in work between the two types of jobs. Blue collar workers are working twice as hard as
white collar workers. They are having to use their hands and their brain to succeed at what they
do. Blue collar workers are not uneducated, they have to be smart to do their job. Also, without
blue collar workers, white collar work would not even exist. A common misconception is that
blue collar workers are not as educated as white collar workers. This is simply untrue, these jobs
require workers to be able to work smart. These workers are not only having to use their hands,
but also their brain. In the article, the author talks about what he has seen at a diner where his

jobs do require less education, but the workers are still extremely skilled at what they do. These
workers have to be precise and get their jobs done the right way every time. If all blue collar
workers were undereducated, they would not be able to handle this type of work. There is equal
value in blue collar work and white collar work. Not one type of work is better than the other in the

fight going on there is plenty of raunchy comedy to keep you laughing throughout the whole
movie, as well as a juicy subplot between Doug and a girl he meets named Eva played by Alison
Pill. I personally love the movie Goon and for me it s an easy 6 out of 5 stars. One of the most
amazing concepts to this movie is the plot is actually one hundred percent possible! And even
better you don t have to know anything about hockey to love this movie, just don t let it give you
the wrong impression of the game of hockey, although the vulgar language and crude jokes are
something that is like clockwork in hockey; it s not all

Aboriginal Drinking Water Facts
Fact Sheet: Water is considered to be the basic source of life. Aboriginals belief in harmony with
nature and water is considered to be the gift of mother earth. As mentioned in article by assembly
of first nation (AFN, 2009), As Indigenous peoples, we have a spiritual and familial relationship to
the sacred elements of water, air, earth and fire, and understand their holistic and inseparable
relationship with each other. Through the western claim of asserting ownership over these sacred
elements their spiritual interdependence is being destroyed. According to AFN water is the blood
of mother earth, which sustains all living beings, connects them, flows within them and replenish
them. Among first nations water is considered to be a great force of life that teaches us the lesson of

Bracero Program History
Mexican nationals have migrated across the border for short term agricultural work since the 19th
century. With a shortage of jobs, Mexican workers seek the promise of what the neighboring labor
market of the United States has to offer. At the same time, the U.S. economy is in need workers to
grow the economy and the history of U.S. relations with Mexicobegan as self sustaining system of
circular migration.
On August 4, 1942 the United States recocnized a need for a temporary intergovernmental
agreement to set the standards for Mexican agricultural labor (officially referred to as the Mexican
Farm Labor Program). The program lasted much longer than anticipated and in 1951, Congress
formalized the Bracero Program with Public Law 78. From 1942 ... Show more content on

The subject then became controversial when more Mexican nationals, desperate for work, were
willing to take on these backbreaking jobs at wages most Americans weren t willing to work for.
American farm workers had reason to be concerned that the braceros would be competing with
them for the same jobs but at lower wages. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to
serve and protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at
least the minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three
fourths of the contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost;
job insurance would be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was
provided when the seasonal contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) . The agriculture
employers were also only supposed to hire braceros when there was high labor shortage, and
were not to abuse the system. However, employers ignored many of these regulations and
Mexican workers were used as strikebreakers while native workers were put out of a job. The
only party who benefited from this injustice were the growers because they got cheap labor. This
imbalance went unchecked and as a result farm wages dropped suddenly from the 1940s to
the1950s, farm wages dropped sharply as a percentage of manufacturing wages, a result in part of
the use of braceros and undocumented laborers who lacked full rights in American

Orson Scott Card uses the character of Ender to demonstrate the pressure that human society puts on its youth to succeed today, through Catharsis, Imagery and Symbolism Catharsis is used multiple times to show the stress and pressure on Ender. The very word instills feelings of excitement, hope, possibilities and a montage of futuristic images of test tubes and beakers and DNA ladders spinning through space. But the word also conjures anxiety, fear and internal struggle over right and wrong, good vs. evil, science vs. religion. The cloning of vital organs or cells to cure diseases could potentially save the lives of millions of people around the world. Throughout the past, experiments have shown the benefits that cloning can give the people of the world. It could give people who cannot reproduce because of infertility a chance to give birth to their own children. If cloning is used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Problem Of Vaccines For Pharmaceutical Companies Another claim against immunization is personal opposition to big pharmaceutical companies. Some believe vaccines are charged to patients solely for profit. This pharmaceutical profit motive can call into question product safety and integrity. The overwhelming majority of vaccines are not highly profitable though (Lam). Due to the massive investment of time and funds required to create vaccines, coupled with only marginal returns on this investment, pharmaceutical corporations do not focus on them. As result, nonprofit health organizations and political agencies such as the CDC, and the WHO, generally lead the charge in vaccinedevelopment. It is a real danger that companies will stop developing vaccines altogether (Lam). Drug companies instead concentrate on well, drugs. Continuous treatment medications require patients to purchase repeatedly, until it is no longer necessary. (In some cases, patients may even take certain drugs until death.) The time interval of vaccinations is, at the very least, yearly. In the case of the flu, rather than one flu shot, pharmaceutical companies can profit more from selling antivirals, painkillers, and a host of other treatments to patients that contract viral sickness. There are also a handful of offenders who may have struggled to change their drug abuse or addiction, and fell short of completing the program. In this second part of my report, I will be determining whether drug treatment court programs actually work. To accomplish this task, I will be reviewing three empirical studies to evaluate how effective the program truly is. The first empirical study that I will be reviewing is the Orange County Juvenile Drug Court (OCJDC) located in Orange County, California between 1999 and 2006 (Fradella, Fischer, Kleinpeter, Koob, 2009). Since everyone has different backgrounds and therefore, different perspectives, we may not agree on what the best course of action is to take in a difficult decision. Obligation The names of the perspectives speak mostly for themselves. Obligation is making sure that the decision that is made is fair to all and that everyone is treated as equals (Weiss, 2006). The thought is that we should have a duty to all humanity. This however, presents a challenge when attempting to make a prompt decision and having to analyze the consequences that it will have on everyone. When choices are made from this perspective, an individual may not use his or her first thought of what is right or wrong, but instead what they think the majority of people would identify as being right. Generally this would be very similar to the character perspective as considering the effect on society as a whole would be an honest choice; however, this may not always be the case. When I consider integrity, I think of Godly values which are occasionally distorted by society due to man believing that he knows what is best. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to serve and protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at least the minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three fourths of the contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost; job insurance would be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was provided when the seasonal contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) .
