The magazine front cover aims to attract young readers interested in sports. It uses a simple sans-serif font that is easy to read, along with ample white space and a large celebrity image of Theo Walcott to draw the eye. The title stands out in bright orange to catch attention, while other text is kept in easy-to-read white against the background. The informal tone and straightforward language make the content accessible to its target audience. Overall, the design utilizes conventional magazine elements to effectively promote the magazine's focus on sports to younger readers.
2. Analysis Of a Magazine Front Cover
AS Media Transition Project
Font: The font used in this magazine is san serif and I believe they have chosen this font because it is easy to read and it looks as if it is aimed at little
children because it is an extremely simple font that is very easy to read. The effect it has on the reader is that it makes it very easy for the reader to
know what the title says because of how simple and easy on the eye it is.
Layout: The layout of this magazine is very simple as was the font, they publisher has created the magazine with lots of space but they could have
made the words abit bigger because of how much space they left, because the words are slightly small it makes it abit harder to read. The layout of
the image is the main part of the front cover because they are using celebrity endorsement; in this magazine they are using Theo Walcott. The
proportion from the image to the text is that they want the main thing the reader sees is the image.
Colour: The colour used in the title is orange which is fairly bright because that’s what the readers want to see which slightly sells the magazine,
some of the smaller texts contrast with the back cover which is not very good because it is hard to see and for people with not so good eye sight it
could be a really big problem.
Mode Of Address: The tone of the magazine is that it is informal because it looks as if it is aimed at younger people who are into sport, the language
in the magazine is very simple and therefore means that it helps younger people to understand what the magazine is trying to get across about
sport. The image is a famous England and arsenal footballer that is well known so it would attract people to get this magazine.
Conventions: This magazine front cover is conventional for a primary school because most young kids love to do sport. The amount of text on the
front cover is also conventional for a front cover of a magazine because the publisher will usually try to fill the page up with gossip and jus facts
about the thing that the magazine is based upon. The layout of the cover is conventional because the image sticks out so much which usually
happens in magazine covers because the image usually tells the reader what the magazine will be about.
3. The main feature of
the magazine, using a
celebrity is to get the
reader involved in the
magazine.
The title will be bold and will be in a
different colour so it doesn’t clash
with the back ground so it doesn’t
hinder the reader being able to read
it.

magazine is going to be about.
The text will be medium sized so
the reader can see it.

5. Evaluation of finished front cover
Fonts
• I have chosen a font off the internet which is conventional for a magazine; it is very bold because it would be a lot easier for the person who is consuming the
magazine to see. The font is all in caps to make it stand out. The fonts that I used meant that the reader would be intrigued into reading what my magazine was
about.
Layout
• The layout I have chosen is very spacious so the reader can understand what is going on in the magazine, if it was all crammed up then the words couldn’t really
stand out which would then mean that the reader wouldn’t really be able to see it and would be more likely to want to read it because the front cover would look
more appealing if it had more space on it. The image is placed right in the middle so the reader would see it practically as soon as they look at the magazine cover.
Image
• The image is one of the main parts of the magazine cover because it basically shows the consumer what the magazine is going to be about. I have chosen a picture
of a fellow school friend because it sort of helps younger people in the school to aspire to play for one of the school teams; it sort of shows him off to be popular.
The image is also there because if there was no image the magazine cover would be abit boring.
Colour
• The colour i chose for the fonts was black because the image was fairly bright, so it helped the title to stand out because it was on a white background. The quotes
and everything are also in white because it keeps it simple and means that the reader doesn’t get too confused on what’s happening in the front cover.
Mode of address
• The magazine cover is informal because it doesn’t have a lot of text like a letter which is formal. The way the image and the text is creating an informal magazine
cover is that the image is of a fellow school student and its not for like a letter or a poster that is campaigning for something because that would mean it would be
formal.
Conventional
• My magazine cover is conventional for a school magazine because it is something relating to the school like I’ve chosen sport which is a subject so it is promoting
that. The image is conventional because it takes up literally the whole space of the magazine which most magazines have and the text is blended in with image so
that nothing properly stands out. The colours used are simple (black) this is conventional for most magazines because if they’re aiming it at younger people it
needs to be easier to read and it shouldn’t blend with the back ground otherwise it would be unconventional.
