2. Title
In this magazine’s contents page the title is written in the top so its easy to locate. It is also written in yellow on a black background to make it stand out. The font used is also the consistently used font throughout the magazine which is conventional for a
magazine in order to create a sense off normality flowing throughout. Its written rather small which is why yellow was used as that is what draws the readers attention.
Editors comment.
In this magazine’s contents page the first thing we see on the left column is a message from the editor. Only very few magazine that I've come across have this as a feature and I think it adds a very
personal touch. It mentions things going on currently, and relates it to music, it also adds a mention of a page you can turn to read more about that topic. This could appeal to the readers because they
could then see who's the editor is of the magazine and what there favourite aspect is.
The cover stories
In this specific magazine, they have included signs next to the stories that where featured on the cover. This makes things easy accessible, visually, for the reader. It allows quick access for the stories that may have caught the readers eye when buying the
magazine.
Colours
The colours used are mainly quite dark. They also connote to us that this magazine Is based on a purely male audience. The fact that they’ve used such a vibrant colour against a dark background makes
this very eye catching to the audience. They have also kept the majority of the text in Capital letters makes the titles very easy to locate.
Subscription deals
On this contents page there is information about how to subscribe to this magazine. This enables the readers to have the magazine delivered to them each month. This is a good promotional action for
the magazine to take as if people subscribe to there magazine it guarantees consistent readers. By displaying this on the contents page allows it to catch the readers eye, and as a contents page is the
first page you view in a magazine, this ensures that the reader will see the promotional offers. additionally in the corner where the subscription deals are located it was places in a black box despite the
background bring white. We also notice that a variety of colours have been used in this section such as yellow, black white and red despite these colours usually being used as ‘accent’ colours. This
creates a bold statement without being completely out of the theme.
Main images.
The main article is linked to a man called slash, this is shown by him being the full main image. This magazine has chosen this as there main image because it advertises there main article and because slash is a well know musician in this genre of magazine, it
makes him very recognisable. Also along with this main image there is sections of the magazine double page spreads that have been placed there, by using these plugs it convinces the reader to go to that section of the magazine. Next to the plugs there is the
name of the band that is feature in that article as well as the page number. This creates easy access for the reader to read about there favourite bands.
Layout
The layout of most magazines tent to be in a ordered column style set up, with a few pictures around. This contents page does follow this in some ways but it also has it own unique style of layout, the
column style is still there but they have started there columns half way down and have used the top half as a purely picture only area. This is very effective as it gives the impression of a fun and not to
wordy magazine. This is what the style should be in a music magazine as people use music to relive stress and I think this contents page mimics this well.
Summary of each article.
In this magazine the summary of each article is quite small but it is a key aspect of the contents page. This allows the reader to see what each article is about at quick glance and can find what they want to read about quickly.
Fonts.
They have kept the majority of the text in Capital letters makes the titles very easy to locate. The text for the tittles are quite distressed, this compliments the grunginess of the magazine. The distressed text is displayed contently through the titles on this page.

3. The main image.
The main image is a mid shot of rapper Kanye west. He is shot in a serious facial expression. The whole image is black and white except
the red heart placed on his chest. Paired with his serious face, This could connote the fact that he is emotionless. However the heart is
placed exactly at the middle of the page which is where are attention is drawn. It could suggest that the hand, clearly a women’s, is
trying to win over Kanye’s heart. Along with his facial expression could suggest that he isn’t happy with-it. However, his hands are
placed in his pockets which fills him with a ‘don’t care’ attitude, which fits his persona perfectly. The main image is followed with a
short description which explains the feature article which is what the main image advertises.

The title & Layout.
The title isn’t in its conventional position that it would be in for a magazine, instead it is across three lines which is however usual for
this subject magazine, in this case, vibe as the whole magazine is rather unusual and doesn't often follow the typical conventions of a
magazine. The contents page also feels very plain, as it doesn’t contain much information as a contents page usually would, there is one
column on the right that folds a few categories but there isn’t much at all. At the back of the magazine there is a large ‘V’ which
represents the brand of vive even further; also a common representation of a magazine to have the name of the magazine annotated
on the magazine.
Colour Scheme.
The colours in this content's page are predominantly greys. The image has even been grey scaled down too correspond with the feel of
this particular issue of magazine. The only pop of colour in this page is the heart which I've highlighted in the first paragraph. The
background is also grey but a slightly darker grey in order for it to stand out more, but still not completely stick out in your face. The
colours in general don’t clash and complement each other well. The only black we see on the page is the text. This is done in order for
the reader to locate the information clearly. Although the pictures are a big part of a contents page the content is most important.
Layout.
The overall layout of this contents page doesn’t Adhere to the typical codes and conventions of magazines. There is only one picture
and very minimal content. This wouldn’t be very good and selling the content of the magazine to the reader unless they are a big Kanye
fan, which this magazine is relying on being there over all selling point.
4. Title
In this magazine’s contents page the title is written in the top so its easy to locate. Its written in black and in capitals which makes it

Article summary,
With each article there is a small summary of what it Is about, this is a common convention of a music magazine and magazines in general, these help the reader obtain a understanding of hat the article is about and
whether or not it is something they want to read or not. Summaries should be short but informative but also create a cliff hanger to leave the reader wanting to read more. These will also contain a page number so that the
reader has a reference on where to go too to read that article.
Layout.
The layout for this contents page adheres well to the codes and convention of magazines in general. It is easy to follow and content is easy to locate and understand. There is plenty of images to keep the audience

when keeping the audience interested and suited too there taste. Additionally on this contents page there is a cover story section. This is a good convention for a magazine to have. This allows the reader to lactate the
article regarding the contents page which is vital as that could be the main reason they picked up the magazine in the first place. To make this stand out they have put the text of ‘Cover story’ in a darker, black/grey box
with white writing which clearly stands out on the predominantly white background. Also in a dark box with white writing there is a ‘subscribe’ section which is also conventional for a magazine.
Colour scheme.
On this contents page the colour scheme is white and red. They have put key information in red which makes it stand out amongst the shite backgrounds. The use of red is a clear choice for this magazine, being as its Q as
that is there main colour of choice, entailing there mast head and accessory contents, for example the date and small ‘Q’ which the page numbers, this is vital throughout the magazine to keep a clear understanding with
the audience with what they’re reading. Additionally with there red colour scheme Finally they have also included there main selling points in a darker grey box, this helps them stand put amongst the white background
