The document discusses ideas for a school magazine targeting parents. It suggests choosing parents as the main target audience since they include current and future students' parents. A magazine would provide helpful information to parents like student achievements, school events, and Ofsted reports in one place. The document also discusses design elements for an appealing magazine cover and contents page like using pictures of students, catchy titles, and bright colors.

I decided to use ‘A Scoop Of Salt’ as my title; firstly it is
alliteration so it sounds quite catchy. Also a scoop isn’t
just a cooking utensil but also it’s a piece of news which is
published so I thought this was quite an appropriate name
for my magazine.
3. A school magazine could target many different target
audiences such as pupils, sixth form or parents.
The biggest target audience out of these categories is
parents as there is the current pupils parents/carers as
well as future or potential students parents/carers. If I
chose a large target audience then it would be viewed by
the maximum amount of people.
It will also be a helpful piece of material as they can read
things about what students have achieved, past and
present events which are taking place and Ofsted reports.
It will make things easier for the parents as a lot of helpful
information will be published in one magazine.

5. Picture-This will make the magazine look appealing and fun. If there is a
student on the front cover it will show the parent clearly what the
students do in school and it will make the stories look more believable if
a student is on the front cover.
Masthead-This will draw the reader in as well as tell them what the
magazine is about if they accidently mix it up with other magazines. It
will be one of the first things that the audience reads so it needs to be
catchy.
Cover lines- This will give the reader an idea of the content inside the
magazine so the main stories will be shown on the cover as a cover line.
These need to incise the reader so they need to be short and snappy and
stand out.
Good layout- The magazine cover will need to be aesthetically pleasing to
impress the audience. If it has a messy cover with a bad layout then the
reader may not want to read the rest of the magazine whereas if it looks
good they are going to want to be part of it and read it.

7. Title- Every page in the magazine will need a title so the reader
knows what they are going to find on each page. This is usually at
the top of the page so it can be spotted easily.
Pictures- This is to make the contents page stand out and show the
parents exactly what the school is about. The images could be
linked to some of the news inside.
Page numbers- These will make it easier for the audience to
navigate around the magazine, they will know exactly what's on
each page just by looking at the contents page. They can then go
to the pages in the order which they want to view instead of going
through it in a linear format.
Bright colours- Bright colours will make the page vibrant and stand
out. As it is a school based magazine it should be fun and diverse
to portray the positive vibe of the schools atmosphere.
