2. LEARNING PREFERENCE
TESTING
At the beginning of the semester when I took the learning style test I realized
I had a high score in visual and sensing learning. My results were visual-5 , sensing-
3 and the rest were all 1’s. I think this was an accurate way to test my skill because
as the semester winds down I have noticed that the classes where work is visual I
have done better. Over the semester my learning style didn’t change too much
however I did notice that I did really well in class where my teacher lectured more
then give readings. At the end of this class I have a better idea about why certain
people study in different ways and I also learned that learning styles can change
depending on certain assignments and classes. Knowing about learning preferences
doesn’t really affect me in a negative or positive way, I have noticed that I can adjust
to many different styles at any given point and my performance is usually the same.

3. LEARNING PATHWAYS
My learning pathway in the beginning of this class was a learning sage. I
choose this because so many of my friends are so familiar with technology I would
like to be the same. I want to learn how to use different types of technology that can
be used for learning. When I used the learning sage pathway for learning how to use
multimedia to learn it actually really allowed me to understand how multimedia can
be used for learning instead of just news. I tried to change learning pathways but I
felt that in the end the learning guide was the best one for me. Since I was using
multimedia for a group project I felt that sharing articles on line and newspaper
articles was going to help us gain a better knowledge as a group all together. It
allowed me to share links with my group and they also posted what they had found
to share with me. In the end I felt like this was the best way I could ever use
multimedia when learning since it involved a group.

4. ACTIVITIES
Since in the beginning of the class I choose the pathway of a learning sage the
quest that really helped me to learn using multimedia was the social bookmarking.
As I progressed in my studies I realized that social bookmarks allow you to share
videos as well as sound clips with others. Since I needed to study with a group I
noticed that I was going to need to share more then just articles so the social
bookmarks made it really simple to share videos. When groups are so big
sometimes it get really hard for everyone to find a time to meet so having a way to
share links is a key part to doing well as a group. Since social bookmarks are on
social websites it is also very convenient to share comments and ideas about
anything anyone posts up. This also saves a lot of time for a large group because it
is
online so people can easily review notes and videos posted from an Ipad or smart
phone.

5. EXPLORING
Using multimedia for learning is very common and it can be used in many
ways.The technology quest that I explored this semester the most for my learning
about the use of multimedia was Ipads/tablets. As before I didn’t have a tablet or
ipad I felt that when I purchased it I was able to take my learning on the go. When
I
was assigned a group project with a group of 12 people I was a little nervous
becaue
I knew there would not be a time when we could all get together to meet up in
person. Having the access to an ipad really helped me because I am a visual learner
and I could easily see videos and comments that my group mates wanted to share
via using my ipad. At the same time I could also use the learning pathyway of a
learning guide by sharing videos and comments with my group so we can all agree
on which multimedia sources we wanted to use and which all agreed to cut.

6. EXPLORING PT.2
The second mobile technology that really accessed my learning as a visual
learner was microblogging. I felt that since so many smart phones now have the
abilty to use twitter and other blogs it is a lot easier to stay connected through
microbloggs. It is very important to stay connected because when working on a
project as a group it is important that everyone is in agreement as to what needs to
be done. With microblogging it is also helpful to stay neat and organized. When
the
whole group can see and read what is going on it will help all the members to
learn
what needs to be learned for the class quiz.

7. EXPLORING PT.3
The third technology I used was the games and MMOG’s. I felt like with
multimedia and group work it wasn’t the best technology. Although there were
some fun games to help learn most of them were just for fun and didn’t help the
group project. I felt that the games quest was fun and was good for me because I
am
a visual learner but for the group it hindered the progess. The project had a
deadline
and when I put a link up with a game related to percentages of hiv in Africa it
confused people and distracted them from the important multimedia information.
I
did notice that some people really enjoyed it to learn but overall it was still a game
and came and didn’t really help me learn about multimedia.

8. SYNTHESIZING MY EXPERIENCE
If I had to pick a multimedia technology that helped me the most throughout
the semester I would have to say it was the Ipad. Since I bought the Ipad I really
enjoy using it for socializing and now I can use it to help me learn while I use
multimedia. With the Ipad being so compact I use it almost everyday and take it
with me wherever I go. I learned that with the Ipad I could use it for learning as well
as for socializing and for entertainment. Since I am a visual learner the Ipad allows
great access to pictures and videos which we can see a lot through the use of
multimedia.
I felt that the multimedia technologies involving games did not work as
learning tools. They are good visual aids but not very good when trying to study for
a test or exam. A quest that I would like to learn more about is podcasts. I feel that I
did not fully understand how to use it for learning or even for entertainment and
sharing content. Im sure there is a way to use podcasts for learning but I didn’t feel
very familiar with using it. I feel if I learned more about podcasts that I could use it
because it looks like it has some very good graphics which might help me to learn
since I learn by seeing and interacting with visual aids.

9. HOW I WILL USE WHAT I
LEARNED TO MOVE FORWARD
I think with everything I have learned in this class I will be able to use in my
next classes to help me study. A lot of the things I learned about multimedia
technology’s I didn’t know before taking this class so now I can use what I have
learned over the semester to help me excel in my future classes. Before taking the
preference test I thought that I could learn new information just by reviewing it and
reading it several times. After I took the preference test I realized that I do better
with studying when there is visual aids so I began using multimedia clips and videos
on the Ipad and I made great improvement over several months.
I plan to take everything I have learned in this course and apply it to my
future. After taking this class I learned that almost everything we do online could be
a way of learning. if I could use more of my tome learning then just reading I think
overall I would be a better student. If I get very comfortable with several
technologies that may help me learn I could always use them in my favor when I am
in my career. I will be able to use different techniques to do different tasks, which
will help me, use more time wisely and not stress out when I have to be surrounded
by different types of technologies.
