2. Learning Preferences
• At the beginning of the class my learning preferences between active and reflective were
mainly balanced ranging at a 1. This meant that I preferred studying in groups which the
members take turns in explaining different topics to each other. This also meant that I should
not over analyze material too much and stop periodically to think about the whole picture.
For the sensitive and intuitive learners, the test showed that I have a strong preference as a
sensing learner. As for visual and verbal, I tested to be at a moderate preference for visual.
And lastly for sequential and global, I showed to be fairly balanced between the two. At the
end of this class, I feel that my learning preferences has not changed much which shows that
I truly do prefer these preferences in studying and learning.
• In the beginning of the class, I scored a score a 5 on the Active learner side. I like to work
in groups so we could have a shared knowledge. I learn a lot better doing hands-on work
than sitting in a lecture hall listening to the professor teach. I scored a 5 on the Sensing side. I
like to learn through a straightforward process where it’s organized and simple. I enjoy facts
over theories. Hands-on work is how I learn. I scored a 7 on visual. I definitely remember
pictures, diagrams, and charts more than through text. I scored a 1 on the Sequential side. I
love learning sequentially, but at the same time, I don't always understand it right from the
start. My thinking wasn’t really swayed that much by the end of the class so my learning
preferences were identical.

3. Thoughts On Learning Preferences
• Our thoughts on learning preferences haven’t really changed
much. We both have our own styles of learning and studying, but
usually we learn and study through the materials handed to us by
our professors. We don’t really go out of our way to find extra ways
to learn the current curriculum. It’ll be more helpful if our
professors could incorporate more learning preferences into their
teaching, but many professors stick with the old-fashioned teaching
style of lecture and textbooks.
• Knowing about learning preferences does not necessarily
make a difference in a personal learning success. We believe that
we can learn about the different learning preferences there are, but
it does not affect an individual and their preferences. People grow
to know their preferences in learning in how they are raised and
taught to learn a certain subject. Telling someone to change their
preferences is hard to actually do because people are used to a
certain way.

4. Learning Pathway
• At the beginning of this class I chose to become a learning warrior because
my primary goal was to go into deeper investigation into fewer technologies. In
choosing this pathway, I hoped to apply what I learn in this class to the other
classes I am taking for Spring 2012 as well. I feel that I had success in getting a
broader knowledge of mobile, social, and multimedia technologies. I did not
change my pathway because I felt that I did not need to and I did learn more in
depth about ipods, ipads, mp3 players, and microblogs to help me in this
semester.
• I chose to be a Learning Warrior for this class throughout the semester
because I wanted to utilize specific technologies to enhance my learning for the
classes I was taking. I didn’t feel like the class taught me anything new about social
networking than I already knew, but it was interesting to depict a gaming scenario
where I’d be able to play a game and learn certain materials in the process. I used
social networking to share and collaborate with classmates about lecture material.
I did not change my pathway because I really needed all the help I can get to help
me memorize and review information I was learning from my Anatomy class.

5. Learning Activities
•We felt that learning activities level 1 helped us get a broader
understanding of how to use certain social technologies. Level one
describes what the technology is, what it does and how it can be
used for learning. This helps us better understand the big picture of
things first in order to get more detailed into the technology. The
quiz also helps because it tests ourselves in what we know from the
powerpoints or screencasts. We feel that level 3 activities helped us
with a deeper understanding of the technologies because we
physically have to use them and try to integrate them into our
everyday lives to see if it works for our preferences. Activity level 1
has worked for the best in our learning preferences because
knowing the general, broader idea of the technologies already gives
us an idea if it would work out in our daily lives.

6. Exploration of Technologies for
Learning
• One social technology quest I used for my own interest as a learning tool was
Facebook, which is a social networking media. I feel that this accommodates for more
than one of my learning preferences because not only does it help me visually, it is also
very convenient because so many other people use it. Facebook help connect people
with one another and making groups is easy for communication. This also helps me
being active and reflective because I am able to do both with the same site. I am active
in communicating and sharing information with people while being reflective on other
people’s comment and input on situations.
•I quite often find myself on Facebook, either procrastinating or out of boredom,
but since the class had a section on utilizing social networks for learning, I gave it a
shot. Creating study groups on Facebook allowed me to communicate with my
partners more easily and created a page where we could share our collected
knowledge. I normally don’t see Facebook as an educational tool, but by switching up
my perspective, I was able to accommodate social networking into somewhat of a
support on top of what I was learning in class. It sure made collaborating with people
in class a lot easier.

7. Synthesizing Your Experience
In the beginning, social networking sites, instant messaging and chat,
and games and MMOGs has interested us as learning tools. The
technology that surprised us the most that can be used as a learning
tool is discussion forums and games. The social technologies that do
not seem to work very well as learning tools are games because
although they can be fun it is difficult to find a game that actually
teaches too. Some social technologies that we want to explore further
to improve our learnings are virtual worlds and Swickis because we
have not had much experience with either.
We feel that instant messaging and chatting has worked best for
our learning preferences because it is active and can be reflective. The
responses on instant messaging are quick and very easy to use. Make
communication easy and convenient to use.

8. What We’ll Do Next
•After this class, we will continue using social
networking strategies to help us in life. We have found
social networking to very helpful because it helps us
branch out to meet other people that may help us in
the future. This is an important skill to have in future
jobs or outside of school because it brings us in contact
with other people that we may not be able to have the
chance to via who we know from one place. As for
non-learning purposes, we will be continuing to use
games because they are enjoyable jus for leisure
purposes. The technologies that we will be avoiding
are social bookmarking for learning because did not
find much use from them in our learning.
