Synthesis Quest about Social Media
Exploration of Technology
The quest assignment that helped me with social media learning the best was the social
networking sites quest. Prior to taking this class, I’ve been thought of using social networking
sites for learning. I always thought that it was for chatting and socializing with others. But after
doing this quest assignment, I was able to explore this quest with my visual and global learning
preference. I was able to use my Facebook account to meet new students in this class and share
notes and assignments. I always viewed Facebook as just for socializing other people and not for
school purpose. After doing this assignment, my visual and global learning preference was
affected and enhanced. I was able to view images from other people’s posts from Facebook to
study off of and to learn from. I am a strong visual learner to begin with but after this quest I was
able to be an even better visual learner. As for my global learning preference, it was most
affected because it opened a wide range of the site for me to explore and learn from.
Synthesizing Your Experience
The technology that worked best for me this semester was the ipad technology. I thought
the ipad would just make me download games and distract me from doing actual school work. I
was able to download applications for school. The most useful applications I downloaded onto
my ipad were the applications related to note taking. The technology that surprised me the most
during this course was the Gaming technologies. I always thought that games were just for fun
and entertainment, but this technology taught me that games are not just for entertainment but
that it can be for learning as well. This surprised me because I exposed to the virtual world of
gaming, which was a great way to meet new people and share new things with. I would like the
explored the MP3 player technology further because it seems like everyone is more likely to get
an itouch or ipod for music and learning, that most people forgot about the MP3 player. I would
like to learn more about the different functions between the itouch and MP3, which one is better
to learn with.
I would have to say that the ipad again conquers all to accommodate with my learning
preference. Again, I am a strong visual learning which means I would learn best if there were
pictures and imagery. The ipad was able to accommodate with this, because of its retina screen
and portability. The ipad was great for downloading power point notes and slides during class.
The screen was at the perfect size for me to look at. The screen wasn’t too big or small, it fit the
my liking at its best. The only thing I would like to change about the ipad to stimulate my
learning better is to be able to add notes to the slides from power point presentations. I wasn’t
able to add on notes to the lecture notes I already downloaded from professor’s lecture slides.

2. What’s Next?
After this course, I would definitely continue to use my visual, verbal, intuitive, and
global learning preference. I see myself using my verbal learning preference during a job
interview because it is very important to be able to articulate what you are trying to say so this is
a very important learning skill to have. Intuitive and global learning preferences are very
important to keep for future work in research and studying. It is important to be able to see which
websites are credible and which are not to be used for your own research, so global and intuitive
would be very important to master. As the visual, I am a strong visual learner but it is still
something to work upon so that you can further your knowledge on it.
Again, I completely see myself using my ipad, and Facebook account for future use. I
definitely see myself using my ipad to study and take notes with. The portability of this
technology is so convenient which is a plus to carry around. I look forward to the new
applications that will come out in the future that would help me with researching and studying on
the ipad. As for my Facebook account, I think it is a good way to network and meet new people
in the future. It is also a good way to research off of. Many companies have Facebook pages
now, which make it a good way for people to learn more about their company. It is also a good
way for people to add them as friends to network and meet one another.
