 Game Spot have asked you to create a
simple PC game that can be used in
primary schools to encourage more
children to create computer games.
 The game must be suitable for 9 - 11
year olds, both male and female and
include map pieces and props that fit
into one or two key themes.
 Your game must have a clear set of
rules to allow the children playing it to
play and win the game within a 5
minute time limit.

 Your client is the person who has set out your task for you. They
have told you what they want you to plan and create for them.

 The key requirements of your client
are set out in the written specification
and you must describe how you will
plan to meet those requirements.
 Your analysis of the requirements is
important for you to show you clearly
understand what you’ve been asked
to create in this project.
 Different genders in your audience
will require different things:
 What will appeal to boys?
 What will appeal to girls?
 The young age group you are aiming
your game towards means you will
need to carefully consider the
content of your game.
 Your target audience is the person or group of people that you
are aiming your final product towards.

 The Software you use will include
features such as props & characters
but you could also think about:
 2D/3D Environment
 Ease of Use
 System Requirements
 The role of each item of hardware you need must be explained:
 Monitor
 Keyboard
 Mouse
 Headphones
Equipment

Use feedback to improve work
 When planning the content of any
video game moral issues must be
considered so your game is giving
the right message to it’s players.
 PEGI certification is important in the
games industry and your game must
adhere to a particular set or rules to
fit in with the relevant rating.
Legal Issues

 Copyright will have an impact on you in two ways in this project:
 Protecting your own work
 Preventing use of others work
 The difference between grade boundaries in this part of the
unit comes down to the level of description used in planning:
Marking
Clear Identification
Describe requirements & audience
Merit
2-11 Marks
Detailed Identification
Explain impact of client & audience needs
Distinction
12-15 Marks
Limited Identification
List requirements & name audience
Pass

 Use the feedback given on your R092
Game Design document to improve
your plan in the following areas:
 Client Requirements
 Target Audience
 Equipment
 Legal Issues
 You must describe your ideas in each
section as fully as possible.
