1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this
product?
Throughout the process of making my music magazine I have learnt many new skills for which I will
be using in later life. Doing this task has helped me expand my knowledge and get a better grasp on
how to use new programs and have a better understanding on how to edit and enhance images and
successfully produce in my opinion, a good music magazine of the Electronic Dance Music genre
which would appeal to an 18 to 25 year old audience.
By doing this task, I was able to build on my ICT skills, and use different websites such as “Blogger”
and SlideShare. Firstly, using a blog in this sort of way as new for me and I quite enjoy learning and
experiencing new things, as it helps me expand my knowledge and to bring me new challenges.
Blogger allowed me to make posts and create pages expressing my work in new forms of media such
as uploading videos from YouTube and using Windows Live Movie Maker to create videos, and by
using Slideshare, I could easily embed PowerPoint presentations and word documents in to my blog
for it to be viewed properly.
While making my music magazine, I had to express my knowledge and understanding of different
programs. Programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS6 had helped to make my magazine look as
professional and authentic as possible. This particular program had helped me to enhance, alter and
remove background and filter my images to make them look as eye-catching and amazing as I most
possibly could. Also, I could convert my images to make them to the best quality without ruining the
original quality of the images and without leaving the image pixelated. Most of my knowledge with
working with Adobe Photoshop CS6 has come from much experience and my usage on the program
for everyday life. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and no understanding of Adobe Indesign, I
could not make the text layered out into columns like they would in real-life music magazines such
as Mixmag. Therefore, I found this to be rather unsettling as this would in turn bring the marks down
on my coursework which I could do nothing about.
However most of all, I had learnt about the importance of continuous saving. Sometimes my laptop
would run out of battery before I could save my work and plug the battery in for everything to be
perfectly preserved.
