HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS ?
Across all of my media products, they all feature images of an artist, G.Na G. The artist is young,
white and looking happy, which is helping to reflect upon the audience who will be reading my
magazine; the reader will be able to relate to those within the magazine and see them reflected,
therefore supporting the connection they will feel with the magazine. The featuring of white artists
would also reflect upon the way in which the genre of Electronic Dance Music is dominated by white
acts, while being compared to the likes to a genre such as Hip-Hop and R&B that feature black artists
mainly. The audience of Spectrum is presented with this attractive female who has longginger hair
and displaying signs of a sophisticated yet young personality, as suggested by the clothing that they
are wearing and the poses that they portraying. This is an example of a stereotypical girl that the
audience would display signs of affection for, while having fun in a nightclub or a typical night out
with friends.

Front Cover
The model that is being used as the main image for the front cover is clearly between the 18-25 year
old age range. Although the model is not of the male gender and instead a female, I’m pretty sure
that the target audience will be attracted to the model posing, since they will be attracted to
women. I think my music magazine is easily recognisable and potentially appealing to someone who
is specifically into Electronic Dance Music and its culture. I feel my magazine would be popular in this
social group as EDM is a very recognisable genre, as it publicised in the media through celebrities
and big music artists such as David Guetta and Avicii. The fonts I used were meant to be simplistic,
bold and basic in a clear set of colours. This was to help reach out to a wider audience. I believe it
effectively reflects my target audience, which are 18 to 25 year old males.

Contents Page
The range of bold and bright colours contribute to the originality and standing-out look that I am
trying to pursue in order for my music magazine to be attractive for my target audience. I believe
that the overall layout my music magazine adds to this as well, as everything is all positioned
appropriately and positioned in a way that adds to the simplicity and cleanness of the music
magazine. The image I had used for the contents page was to generate a happy mood for my reader
to be in when they go looking at the features of what my music magazine has in store for them. The
font I had used for the main text was “Tw Cen MT”. This font was very simple in looks yet had a very
elegant and sophisticated feel to it that made the text displayed look enjoyable to read, and most
probably further put the reader in a happy mood (general).

Double Page Spread
My magazine also represents particular social groups, as it acts as a form of escapism. Where
teenagers and young adults can rewind and relax from the pressures of coursework, working etc.
and just to aspire and think on how they could spend the best night out with friends, raving to their
favourite DJs performing live on stage in front of hundreds of people. What “Spectrum” does as this
will help them find the best opportunity for my target audience to have a good night out and propel
them head first into the realm of Electronic Dance Music and see what is like behind the scenes,
coming up and producing the next club banger and chart topper. The usage of the model being young
helps me represent the social group of 18-25 year olds, as it portrays their interest and appeals to
the younger audience, and hopefully inspire them to become as big as the DJs and music producers
that are being featured in music magazine as well. I have also given the model an uplifting and easy
look, to help appeal to making sure that the reader will feel relaxed and in a good mood when
reading along with the article. I have dressed my model in simple clothing as it’s not always about
looks when it comes to music and that beauty is not required when it comes to having fun raving
and making fresh new beats for everyone to listen to, not that my model isn’t attractive though.
Also, my artist G.Na G, who is fairly young, is presented in an optimistic way throughout the
presentation of the article, which features on my double-page spread. The audience learn how her
music career was set into motion and that she has collaborated with the likes of David Guetta. This
mean she is presented as a good role model whom the reader will be able to relate to, despite being
of a different gender and in which the audience will aspire to be like her and feel more close to her
music, as she is achieving her dreams and giving hope to those who are trying to follow the same
ambitions and career path. She is represented as a person who has worked to the best of her ability
in order to fulfil their happiness and dreams. G.Na G also helps to represent females in a positive
light and this will possibly
