3. In order to attract my target audience, I felt that the design was
one of the most important parts in attracting them. Spectrum’s
magazine design was made to be simplistic yet elegant for viewing
so that that everything was placed in a fresh and straightforward
way. I had researched other similar magazines such as Mixmag for
example to help with coming up with this particular layout and
design for the entirety of the music magazine in order to keep in
conventions. The images that I have taken and have used were to
develop and construct an emotion which mirrors the calmer and
carefree side of being a young mature adult. I did this in order to
reflect the happy scene of clubbing for my readers to take sight of
and enjoy.
4. I had also used the results from the questionnaire I carried out at the research and
planning stage to determine what content I should include within my magazine; I
noticed that when asked for which artist from the genre of Electronic Dance Music
were their favourite, from a selection of some, certain artists were repeatedly put
into the top few of their favourites such as 2NE1 and Basshunter for example, so
therefore, if these artists were featured in my magazine, my audience would be
attracted to the magazine and will be more likely to purchase it.
Consequently, I made sure I had listed these artists on my front cover, within my selllines and list of featured artists. I also discovered that in terms of what my audience
would want to read, they said that they had wanted exclusive interviews as the most
appealing thing to read in a music magazine.
5. The magazine as a whole will have a fresh yet
sophisticated approach to Electronic Dance
Music. Also, Spectrum doesn’t just focus on the
specific artists included with the genre, but it
also likes the fun and party atmosphere which
comes with the genre. The target audience also
enjoy the fun atmosphere which accompanies
Electronic Dance Music and so in this way the
magazine directly appeals to it’s audience.
