Cultural communication differences between Cuba and India are significant due to their distinct histories and development. Cuba is a communist island nation influenced by European colonization, while India is a massive populous democracy shaped by centuries of diverse religious and cultural influences from surrounding regions. Their styles of communication differ radically as a result of these disparate experiences. Time-oriented India is becoming more modern and globalized, while insular Cuba maintains communist principles.

Analyse the importance of information and communication technologies in the process of
international outsourcing.
Information and communication technologies are of paramount importance in the process of
international outsourcing primarily through the technological advancement surge and demand in
recent years. Through the rise of Information technology in recent years, the importance of
international outsourcing rose significantly. Outsourcing is the contracting of the management
and/or execution of a business function to an outside third–party contractor or subcontractor.
Outsourcing typically refers to the contracting of services to an offshore, rather than domestic,

Software exports have grown a sevenfold during the past five years. In addition, sales revenue of
China's software industry increased from USD 7.16B in the year 2000 to USD 19.3B in 2003, while
software exports increased from USD 0.25B to USD 2B in the same period. In 2008, the domestic
market of China's software and information outsourcing industry reached US$633.2 billion. By
2010, total outsourcing industry revenues in China had reached an estimated US$20 billion.
The potential growth of the Chinese information technology (IT) services market is compelling – it
is expected to grow at an attractive range of better than 20% a year during the next few years.
China–heritage providers are indigenous Chinese companies that are tapping the outsourcing
potential around the globe and in their own country. There are currently some 13,000 Chinese IT

2. A Discourse Community In Indi A Discourse Community?
India: A Discourse Community Accomplishing goals through intercommunication among members
of a community is one characteristic that makes up a discourse community. A discourse community
has six characteristics such as having a broadly agreed set of goals, a participatory mechanism to
provide information or feedback, acquiring a specific level of language, and members with a
suitable degree of relevant content. The community that is a community discourse is India. India
occupies the greater part of South Asia and consists of twenty–nine states. India is most known for
festivals, food, and jewelry. The constitution of India does not give any language the status of
national language. So, communication among the people is not easy with twenty–two languages in
one country. India consists of diverse ethnic races and groups who strictly follow specific customs.
The cultural diversity of the country is what makes up the discourse customs within the community.
. One factor that creates cultural difference is India's nine religions. Ancient India consisted of three
religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. All three ancient religions are part of the nine religions
today. Statistics have shown that 827 million (80.5%) have returned themselves as followers of
Hindu religion, 138 million (13.4%) as Muslims or the followers of Islam, 24 million (2.3%) as
Christians, 19 million (1.9%) as Sikh, 8 million (0.80%) as Buddhists and 4 million (0.4%) are Jain

3. Cultural Stereotypes In Australia
When conducting my research into how cultural stereotypes can affect intercultural communication
between India and Australia, I received interesting feedback. I discovered my interviewees have
experienced cultural stereotypes and have found stereotyping made intercultural communication
quite difficult.
Question 3 was one of the most important questions of my interview, as it allowed the interviewees
to express some of the cultural stereotypes and misunderstanding they have experienced. Regarding
this question, my first interviewee stated she does not experience stereotyping regarding her culture
too often. However, when she does experience this, on visiting other countries (especially Western
countries), she is often asked why she does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to this, she also experiences many cultural stereotypes and misunderstandings. As she lives in
the USA, being a western country, she experiences a lot more cultural stereotypes and
misunderstandings relating to her Indian culture than my first interviewee living in India does.
These cultural stereotypes can especially make intercultural communication between her and
someone from Australia particularly difficult as some Australians, like people my second
interviewee communicates with from the USA, are quite racist and often feel uncomfortable around
someone who is Islamic. These cultural stereotypes affect intercultural communication between
Australia and India as it causes misunderstandings between the two cultures and often causes harsh
feelings between cultures. However, my second interviewee stated she finds it quite easy to
communicate with people from different cultures on social media, however, she does see cultural
stereotypes on Facebook and twitter. Moreover, many people find it particularly easy to
communicate with anyone on social media rather than face–to–face. When communicating with
someone from another culture on social media, one often does not take their culture into perspective
but rather communicates with them as they would to someone of their immediate culture. Evidently,
this is because one does not see the person they are speaking to online and rather creates their own
image of the person they are communicating with. However, as my Indian interviewees stated, they
see a lot of cultural stereotypes on Facebook and twitter. Additionally, similar to cyberbullies,
people find it easy to make stereotypical or rude comments about other cultures online, rather than
to a person in the real world. This could be due to their online profile being anonymous, and having
more confidence to speak their opinions online

Global Business
Cross Cultural Differences in India
Western Governors University
India has become a global conduit for business as they have liberalized their economic policies over
the past 20 years. Companies are flocking to India because of many factors, including, less
expensive labor costs, increasing growth rate, and an abundance of a highly skilled workforce.
These factors in addition to other advantages have substantially increased the number of United
States businesses looking to grow beyond the U. S borders into the county of India. Dunlop

When greeting someone it is expected that one would bow with their hands together. In the U.S.,
saying hello or goodbye with a hand wave is an acceptable gesture, yet in India a hand wave is a
sign of saying "go away". When communicating with another person it is an understood rule that
there should be a one arm's length between the parties during conversation. Overall, when
communicating within the Indian Culture, there are many ways to easily offend them. Education of
their culture could have great benefits to communication and respect. When doing business or just
simply greeting an Indian person, the last thing you want to happen is offend them or their culture.
Knowing there are different ways of communicating between cultures will have a positive outcome
from a business aspect and also a social aspect. The final cross cultural difference I will discuss is
the collectivist culture of India versus the individualistic culture of the United States. India is more
of a collectivist culture, whereas the U.S. is strongly individualistic. The family is at the center of
Indian society, which is largely patriarchal. Several generations of a family are brought together to
live in one household. The hierarchical nature of the Indian culture extends into the family as well,
where the head of the family makes the key decisions for the household (Kumar, 2005). An Indian's

6. How Can Poor Countires Afford Space Programs? Essay
The world today seems to be heading outside its limits. The same way India has decided to launch
its orbiter into Mars and become one of the few countries with this ability. But, there are many
problems that India will face and many issues that they must look into before focusing on such a
drastic occasion that will change the view of the world. India needs to realize the downfall within its
country before reaching out and helping others.
The ignored economy. To begin anything, the first step is to recognize the capital resources needed
to start such a big task. Kaul (2013) reported that more than 65% of India consists of poor people
that fall below the poverty line; additionally, the Press Trust of India (2013) released that India

One of the more important investments is in the field of meteorology where weather forecasters and
communication satellites could have been crafted (Hsu, 2013). The other argument that India faced
and is relevant to the use of technology is that the orbiter created by the ISRO cannot carry much
weight and is slower than previous orbiters created by other countries (Hsu, 2013). Bennett (2013)
discussed that the problems in India and around the world are so high that India could have used that
technology to resolve issues on Earth.
Ulterior motive. No person, let alone country, is free of thinking for their own interest. This sort of
criticism is rational and is the same thought that Bennett (2013) stated. The reason that India is after
releasing the orbiter in a hurry (Hsu, 2013) is because they might want to be ahead of China since
they are India's rivals (Bennett, 2013). The other fact is that previous orbiters, more than half, had
failed, making India more interested in launching the orbiter and redefining their image (Hsu, 2013;
Bennett, 2013). This mission is criticized for portioning the rich from the poor people says (A.R.,
2013). It is the perfect cover for the elites and socialites to take control of the resources that would
be extracted from Mars (A.R., 2013).
The fight for power. The one thing everyone wants to avoid is war and political dramas. Hume

Something that could have been a problem right from the start is communication. Countries have
different ways of communication, and something could be translated completely opposite of what
was meant. Communication problems could have been a cause of the problems in India. Also, the
different styles of communication could have been an issue because the United States and India do
not use the same styles. Another big problem is that something could be accepted in India and be

did. Coca–Cola also said that if you target a MNC you are going to get more publicity and more
attention from other consumers. Coca–Cola just should have ensured everyone that they were going
to test the water and fix the product immediately so they would not lose any sales. Pesticides may be
in everything in India, but this is not something a MNC should be bringing up. The only business of
matter is that their company is being targeted and they need to fix the problem as soon as they
could. 3. If Coca–Cola wants to obtain more of India's soft drink market, what changes does it need
to make?
One big change that needs to be made is pesticide free water in the Coca–Cola products. Indians
have a lot of trouble with making sure their food and water is contaminated, and things like this
aren't going to help Coca–Cola's business because they aren't going to want to risk their health.
Indian's need to feel safe and trustful of Coca–Cola that their products are safe for themselves.
Coca–Cola made also need to use less Indian water in their products if that problem cannot be fixed.
Whatever it takes for Indian's to understand that Coke's products are pesticide free is what Coca–

8. Cultural Communication Differences Between Cuba and India
Cultural Communication Differences Between Cuba & India Every culture develops in two ways,
first by insular forces which shape the every day interactions between people of the same cultural
values, and second by the influences put upon them from outside sources. Two countries with very
little proximity to each other, and very little shared interaction, have developed their own unique
styles that are radically different than the other. Cuba and India are two countries that have been
heavily influenced by outside sources, by the practice of colonization by the European powers. In
addition to this, both countries have followed a course of independent thinking in world politics.
Cuba is an island nation with a Communist government that has little to do with the massive Asian

Imperialism is the takeover of a weaker territory or country by a superior nation. Around the year
1858, India became a victim to British imperialism. It was a valuable colony to britain, they even
called it the "jewel in the crown". Imperialism brought many benefits and drawbacks to India. The
reasons to why India was so valuable, was because it supplied many resources and a large
population. India provided tea, coffee, cotton, and most importantly, Opium. This benefited britain
because they could trade these popular items constantly, provided more money for their colonial
exploits. India also had a large population, even till this day, India is the second most populated

improved transportation by improving roads, cars, and trains. There was also improvement on
railroads. In addition, there is better communication. India was made of various languages in
different regions of the country, unabling the indians in communicating much with other parts of
India and foreign countries. With the introduction of English, indians were able to communicate
with foreign countries, which helped with international trade. People of India now had a common
language to communicate with and their nationalist feelings grew. The growth of nationalism ended
British rule.
India was not the only country to fall under European Imperialism, China and Africa also fell as
victims to European imperialism, but just like india, they were able to free themselves from
European rule. The United states helped China by promoting open door policy in 1899. Dr. Sun yat–

He advocated freeing China from Imperial control, a democracy, and modernizing China. Soon,

Abstract
People from different countries communicate in ways that often lead to misunder–standings. Our
argument, based on Hall's theory of high/low context cultures (1959, 1966, 1976, 1983), is that these
differences are related to different communication cultures. We argue that Japan and Finland belong

Cultural issues mean certain societal factors, such as the country's status, history, religion and
traditions. Cultural issues also include Hofstede's (2008) individualism vs. collectivism dimension.
Communication style in a high vs. low context culture
In HC cultures, communication style is influenced by the closeness of human rela–tionships, well–
structured social hierarchy, and strong behavioural norms (Kim et al., 1998, p. 512). In a high
context (HC) culture, internal meaning is usually embedded deep in the information, so not
everything is explicitly stated in writing or when spo–ken. In an HC culture, the listener is expected
to be able to read "between the lines", to understand the unsaid, thanks to his or her background
knowledge. Hall (1976, p. 91) emphasised that "a high–context communication or message is one in
which most of the information is either in the physical context or internalised in the person, while
very little is in the coded, explicit, or transmitted part of the message".
In an HC culture, people tend to speak one after another in a linear way, so the speaker is seldom
interrupted. Communication is, according to Gudykunst and Ting–Toomey (1988), indirect,
ambiguous, harmonious, reserved and understated. In an HC culture, communication involves more
of the information in the physical context or internalised in the person; greater confidence is placed
in the non–verbal aspects of communication than the verbal aspects (Hall,

1. What aspects of U.S. culture ad of Indian culture may have been causes of Coke's difficulties in
India?
India and the United States have vastly different cultures. When doing business in foreign countries,
great care must be taken to recognize the culture of the country in order to avoid problems, such as
the ones Coca–Cola experienced in India. In addition, business practices and governmental policies
are different between India and the U.S. Coca–Cola should have taken care to study and familiarize
itself with the regulatory practices of India prior to doing business there. As most everyone knows,
the recipe of Coca–Cola has long been held secret. When the Indian government demanded to be
provided the secret formula in 1977, Coke pulled out from doing business in India, returning 17
years later in 1993.
India scores high in power distance, where the communication is from the top down and authority is
for the most part not questioned and just accepted. In that regard, when pesticides were found in
high concentrations in some coke products, it was difficult to convince Indians or the Minister of
Health that Coke's products were safe. Another issue that may have caused Coke's difficulties in
India relate to communication. The U.S. is a low context culture, where communication is expected

Communication through language performs a pivotal role in a human life as it sustains it and
therefore essential. Of course, various means of communication like gestures and others can never
replace the use of a language in a human life. A human being is a God's creation, but a language is a
human creation. The same information in one language can be communicated differently through
different languages depending on culture, region, religion, politics and above all the society of the

Partly because of the oral traditions and partly due to the destructions of innumerable texts because
of weather conditions, several problems arise when the earlier history of translation is attempted.
The history of translation in India has, according to Ritā Kothāri, three stages: "oral, written and
printed" with "no mechanism for tracing the oral tradition of translation". Further, she adds that
"The written tradition. . . is rooted in medieval India, around the fourteenth and fifteen centuries,
when excerpts from the Sanskrit scriptures began to travel into the 'regional' languages" (Kothāri
2003: 6–7). However, it is believed that, as Krishnamurthy notes, the first requirement "for inter–
language communication in the subcontinent probably arose through trade" (Krishnamurthy 1998:
464). Kautilya, known as Chānakya (c. 370–283 BC), a minister to Chandragupta Maurya (c. 340–
298 BC), in the 4th century BC wrote "a treatise on statecraft" indicating "the status that the
translator might have had during this period" without the use of a word translator but "scribes" (Ibid:
465). Thus, this activity of translation as a discourse offers India more opportunities due to its
multilingual status, whereas the possibility of translation in the West is less due to its monolingual
status. Thus, it is noticeable that multilingualism offers benefits to the practice of translation

Title: Impact of Environmental Communication in Public Sphere on Urban Youth in Gujarat 1
Introduction Environment has attained centrality in the national and international arena in the past
few decades. The primary reason for this has been environmental degradation as a consequence of
varied socio–economic, institutional and technological factors. The need for sensitisation is
imperative and which can be substantially achieved through legislation and communication.
Communication designs of environmental issues influence public awareness, opinion, and action.
Environmental awareness or the subsequent lack thereof, have been on a rise for a while now with
rise in population, changing political ideologies, increased private investments and overall
privatisation and a dominant enshrining of the pro–development philosophy of the West. With such
tendencies, as humans grow in number, so does the dependency on nature and the lookout for space,
an insatiable cycle of production and consumption commences and with this, the Earth – our
primary producer is reduced to commodity status. In a world dominated by human beings, where
often the rights of the natural world and of animals dependent on it, are trampled upon,
communication can play an important role in providing a channel for expression, discussion and

situation of some territory which ruled by another country. Colonialism is a political–economic
phenomenon whereby various European nations explored, conquered, settled, and exploited large
areas of the world. Colonialism developed from imperialism, which can be reffered to as the highest
stage of capitalism. In nineteenth century colonialism was motivated by a number of factors
including a nation's desire for political and cultural domination and economic exploitation. One

East India Company is English company formed for the exploitation of trade with East and
Southeast Asia and India, which was created in the year 1600. With time the Company increased its
powers and started to administer the country. Under British rule a first railway line was built from
Howrah in Calcutta to Raniganj in Bihar. Britain wanted to be profit India's vast supply of tea and
cotton. Great Britain relied heavily on India as a source of materials. There also was introduced the
telegraph and postal services simplified communication all over the country.
The British passed many acts that were met with dissatisfaction by the Indians. As a result the
Indians formed large groups and revolted against the British, but the British forces crushed each
movement. Though Indian leader like Mahatma Gandhi arose and openly condemned the British. He
was people's leader who insspired the masses not to be afraid of the intensity. Finally after 200 years
of British rule, India gained independence from on 15th August 1947. Many innocent lives were
sacrificed for this achievement and India was also separated from Pakistan. The partition of India

20. Stereotypes In India And Australia's Use Of Technology
Society and Culture Secondary Research
Introduction
India and Australia's Use of Technology
Today, India and Australia's use of technology is particularly similar. Both countries have access to
high speed internet connection, wireless broadband, the latest mobile phones, computers, tablets and
televisions. However, access to these technologies is scarce and often unaffordable in rural areas in
India, as well as rural areas in Australia. Today, India has 243 million internet users and is the
world's second largest Internet user after China, (Fontevecchia, 2014), while Australia is the world's
31st largest internet user with 18 million internet users. India now has nearly 74 million Internet
users, while in Australia there is 12 million internet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These stereotypes include prejudices surrounding certain professions Indians may have such as taxi
drivers, store owners, computer geeks or doctors. For example, NBC aired an episode of Caroline in
the City, where Caroline's neighbour did not want to see a doctor who wore a turban. (Somani,
2008). This episode perpetuates the image that there may be something wrong with Indian Sikhs,
and therefore, this message is communicated into society and can form the basis of stereotypes
against Indians and Sihks. Another example of a stereotypical Indian portrayed on television is the
character of Apu, from The Simpsons, who is portrayed as a store owner with a thick Indian accent.
(Somani, 2008). As The Simpsons is quite popular among adolescence, the character of Apu can

21. British Imperialism in India Essay
"Englishmen.. have given the people of India the greatest human blessing – peace." (Dutt). Merely
coming to India in the 1600s to trade, the British East India Company established trading outposts.
After ridding of French influence in India during the Seven Years' War and having Indians mutiny
against British rule, Britain gained full control of India. India has been under the imperialist control
of the British until their independence in 1947. British imperialism caused some negative effects on
India through poverty and persecution, but retained more of a positive impact due to its massive
improvements in the modernization of India and the overall improvement of Indian civilization.
Despite impacting India very positively, imperialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way modernization is illustrated in India is through agriculture and industry,
notwithstanding the effects it had on Indians. Industry guided India to a much stronger economy,
arguably guiding them to holding a spot in the top ten economies in the world (O.I). Irrigation
cultivated approximately 30 million acres, awarding the country great agricultural wealth. Along
with wealth also came a disappearance of the famines in India. Collectively, the country of India as
a whole benefited from this modernization as it set a higher standard of living for the population. As
India's modernization developed, the entire civilization of India improved remarkably. The country's
improvement of civilization is exemplified through it's establishment of schools and law. Western
education was introduced by Britain and laws were well made with courts that enforce them. (Doc
3). One should take into account the speaker of this document because Romesh Dutt is an Indian
like any other, yet he praises the British for what they have done to contribute to the development of
India. In addition to these establishments is Britain bringing finer ideals of humanity to India.
Infanticide, the killing of female babies, was brought to a halt as well as participation in the slave
trade (Doc 5). Without the interference of Britain, these inhumane actions would be prevalent
throughout India and the country would suffer from a bad reputation. These

Ethnic/Cultural Group People are usually categorized in terms of race and/or ethnicity. Race is a
term typically used to classify people according to similar and specific physical characteristics.
Ethnicity is a term more broadly used that connects people according to an inherited status such as:
a shared ancestry, language, history, religion, cuisine, art, clothing style, and/or physical appearance,
etc. India is a country located in South Asia bordered by the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, Bay of

Those of Asian Indian heritage tended to smell heavily of curry or the food they ate. Also, many of
the women did not shave their armpits or legs. Many cultures around the world do not place as
much emphasis on vanity as Westerners do, so these stereotypes can easily be made. One of the
doctors was from India as well but he was neither smelly, dirty, or sloppy. He did advise many of his
Indian patients the importance of eating a better diet, stating that obesity was becoming a problem in
their culture. One stereotype that I tended to make was that Asians have two left feet and could not
walk on a treadmill. For some reason or another, it seemed to be a trend. Although it wasn't the case
for all, it seemed to be the majority. Before doing this study, I'm sure I could have easily mistaken
some East Indians as Chinese. Going from Wheeling, WV to working in a multicultural city was an
awesome experience! Not only did I learn a lot professionally, but I also learned a lot personally. It
was very interesting to meet people of so many different backgrounds with so many different
languages, beliefs, and characteristics.

Especially for the international business, multinational communication is essential. Understanding
the many types of communication, is a subject of importance to act successful as a global player.
Furthermore, there are great benefits through intercultural communication like:

there are following characteristics for Indians: family orientation, honour of both family and group,
material susses and creativity, problem solving, risk–takers and experimenters, loyalty to a group,
arranged marriages, do it yourself mentality, fatalism and savy at business. Indians communication
style is high context oriented. Elderly people are always threatened with respect, talking to them
presupposes using formal and respectful forms. Indians use communication to tighten up their
relationships and to preserve harmony but not to exchange information. Additionally Indians are
extrovert, talkative, emotional, unpunctual and they mix professional and family affairs. On the
whole Indians prefer to be a member of a group and acting collectively. This is a result of the
hierarchical system in India. Indians have several rules when it is allowed for them to speak, e.g.
they are allowed to speak, if someone before began to speak with them, it is inapplicable to show
emotions verbal or non–verbal in public, they should not ask direct questions to somebody they do
not know well. Furthermore, it is disrespectful to interrupt a person, they have to wait until the

27. Financial Analysis: Bharti Airtel And Reliance Communications
Executive Summary
The telecommunication plays an important role in today's market. In the last few years, change has
taken place in the ownership structure of telecommunications companies from public monopolies to
private companies. The rapid development of mobile networks and video and Internet technologies
has created enormous competitive pressure on the companies. As new competitors come to industry,
companies need intelligent tools to gain an advantage which is competitive in nature. Also, stock
market expectations are wide and investors and financial analysts need tested tools to gain
information about how companies perform financially compared to their competitors, the strong
areas of the competitors, the list of the major competitors and so on. Likewise, we can say that, the
telecom companies need to benchmark their performances against competitors in order to remain
important players in this market.

It is easy to think communicating is simple; however it is usually quite complicated and very easy to
send the wrong message. The two elements in every communication situation are the sender and the
receiver. The sender conveys the idea and the receiver interprets it and usually gives the sender
feedback. Feedback is a powerful tool to communication effectiveness, because it enables the sender
to determine whether or not the receiver correctly interpreted the message. Likewise in this case line
managers haven't been able to express themselves and therefore there hasn't been any feedback
conveyed with the General Manager. A possible cause for this problem is that majority of line
managers employed in India are recent university graduates (World Business Culture, 2012). Now
this is not the problem, the problem is the lack of experience held by these employees compared to
the experience of general managers. And with the way businesses are run in India it is usually a case
of the person with the most experience in the business gets to have the final say (Chakravarty,
2013).

Imperialism in India had many positive effects and negative effects. India was introduced to more
technology and ways of communication. It also lead to an increase of population and regular living.
But, it also lead to India being dependent on Britain and lead to famine. There were many positive
effects from this. Great Britain and other industrialized countries introduced more transportation
methods and communication like telephones. These things improved cars, roads that can now be
paved, postal networks, and trains. More advanced and high–tech machines were made. This being

Britain taught herders the process of crop rotation to fertilize their land. Not only did Britain help

were taught cleanliness for health and basic hygiene. From all of the benefits I have talked about,
you might think Britain was great to India, but they also caused so many problems. Wars with
Britain, also against leaders by Great Britain, took money away from India. The East India Trading
Company would buy materials and goods at a very low price while selling their processed goods at
a very high price price. Britain also ruined India's previous economy and industries as a result of
Britain making them import their goods from Britain and not allowing them buy their own goods

carpentry industries, fell because cloth was made of better quality for less money in Britain due to

33. Communication Theories And Concepts Of The Film Outsourced
When talking about communication, it is essential to understand what this term really means. There
are many different definitions pertaining to this word, but none of them can be considered right or
wrong. On the other hand, Samovar and Porter suggested one of the most basic and influential
definitions: "communication is the ability to share our ideas and feelings" (Samovar and Porter,
1995, p. 27). Mr. Todd's journey in the film Outsourced greatly reflects on a wide variety of
communication theories and concepts, as well as my personal experience in the same country, India.
When referring to communication, it is fundamental to grasp The Shannon and Weaver Model that
was invented in 1947. This is basically an exemplary of a few stages in which the information
source called sender, sends the information to its destination, the receiver. Information obviously
does not get to the receiver magically; this is why this model was invented. It is a way to illustrate
how a person shares beliefs and ideas, and how they reach their destination. For example, at the
beginning of the movie Outsourced, the employee called Todd Anderson asks his boss named Dave:
"Is this gonna take a while?" when he was called to privately speak inside his office (Jeffcoat, 2006,
1:26). In this case, the sender is Dave who sends the information through a place called channel,
which then gets decoded before reaching its destination, Todd. On the other hand, it is also
important to underline the fact that

Within my role as a Subject Matter Expert for RBS's PPI complaints team, one of my principal
duties is liaising with our operations in India.
Our staff in India carry out a variety of duties to support the work completed by my team, including
the logging and processing of correspondence received from customers and the FOS. Any mistakes
made processing this correspondence can cause serious detriment to customer experience whilst
making a complaint; making it essential for us to maintain an open line of communication with
India.
The subject of my reflective statement will be a situation that arose whilst I was providing training
to our operation in India; specifically training around our process for logging customer's
acceptances of offers. During a period where we were receiving a large amount of these
acceptances, it was my responsibility to introduce this process into the duties carried out by India.
The plan was to carry out several telephony training sessions to ensure they understood the process,
and were capable of logging acceptances without any errors.
However having begun the training it became clear India was unwilling to take on this new duty.
Logging acceptances is an inherently more complicated task than India felt they were capable of
completing or should be responsible for doing. They also believed being so far removed from the
rest of the PPI operation, it would not be possible for them to get the support needed to complete
this duty effectively.

If I was an international traveler or an intercultural trainer within my organization and I had to train

your native culture is acquired. To explain it to my groups members very thoroughly I would say "I
know you guys are not of custom or practice the India culture but you guys have to acculturation to
the culture of India". The word acculturation from lecture class means the process by which you
learn and adapt to other cultures. That's what exactly the group of people I'm training going to have
to do. At first it's going to be a major culture shock for the group of people I'm training because they
know nothing about how to handle culture in India but, I'm pretty sure my group is going to

Within working with the culture shock graph I will make sure my group follows the five key points
while moving through the culture shock graph. The five key points are quantity, quality, relation,
and manner. It's very important my group understands these five key concepts of maxim
communication because India follows these key points very differently than we do in the states. For
example, in India, people love to stare at each other. This is considered non–verbal communication
according to speech class. Non–verbal means using gestures and

39. Negative Effects Of Imperialism On Colonized People
Despite having a predominantly negative effect on colonized populations, Imperialism improved the
lives of colonized people because it introduced innovations and inventions that helped to unify

40. Problem Solving Skills On A Business Situation
(iii) Learning Outcomes
8. Problem solving skills in a business situation The lack of responses from proposals I sent to

The manner in which my manager presented the Times of India to potential investors, advertisers,
and relevant personnel is a skill that must be honed through a combination of public speaking,
emotional awareness, and the development of managerial behaviors that are effective in the
corporate environment. For he delivery of courier times and parcels I wanted to maximize my
efficiency and minimize my time away from the office. By reducing the amount of time that a
package was in–transit, I could enhance communication with clients and ensure any items my
manager was expecting were available at the earliest convenience. When sending reminders to
clients for invoice payments, proposals and other emails, I was conscious of correct terminology and
tone of voice. I studied previous emails sent by my superior as well using online journals to ensure I
was complying with industry standards for appropriate business tone. I have attached the emailed
