Peaceful Protest
Protests throughout history have sparked controversy in both their subject matter and execution,
calling into question the true value they impart. Peaceful resistance is a key element in the
development of a free society as it facilitates a wide breadth of actions from the raising of awareness
and the greater dissemination of ideas all the way to active change in laws and government.
Wide dissemination of ideas and changes to the law were products of the gay rights movement. In the
1960 s gay rights were practically nonexistent. The government was unconcerned with protecting the
physical safety of gay people as evidenced by violence against the gay community which went
completely unpunished. The government and law enforcement did not ... Show more content on

Questions about what should be protected under free speech have arisen, causing this country to
question how far free speech should truly extend, some arguing that certain speech or protest works to
harm society, not advance it. In 1977 members of the Nazi Party of America announced their intention
to walk through Skokie, Illinois in Nazi regalia carrying swastikas. Skokie, a majority Jewish
community and the home to many Holocaust survivors, erupted in anger as the residents attempted to
stop the Nazis from marching. Residents of Skokie and sympathizers across the country argued that
the protest aimed to incite hate against a particular religious group and inflict emotional harm. Many
agreed with this point of view but the ACLU stepped in to protect the rights of the Nazi Party and their
rights to free speech as protected by the 1st Amendment. The ACLU and the Nazis were successful
and they retained their right to march wherever they wanted and say whatever they pleased. Although
their speech was undoubtedly hateful and hurtful they still had the right to share their ideas.
(Bekiempis) In response to the march residents of Skokie decided to open a Holocaust memorial
museum in order to combat hatred with education. (Stone) The ultimate goal of any peaceful
resistance is to spread ideas and influence the minds of the population. In the case of Skokie the march
illuminated a problem in society the prevalence of excessive anti semitism. This realization informed
many of the need for more Holocaust education, leading to the improvement of society. Even when a
protest or peaceful resistance appears harmful or detrimental to a society, in the end the society is
better off allowing it to

Ephesians 4
Throughout human history, our ancestors lived out the Christian faith in their generation. As a result,
the faith passed down into their children s generations, continuously reaching today s generation.
Then, our society changed from a primitive society to a modern society. With the invention of
technology, it creates a new direction towards spreading the Gospel. While our ancestors spoke and
wrote Gospel in church, my generation use technology to share the Gospel on social media and Bible
apps. With the different styles of preaching the Gospel, how can we unite our generations to pursuit
God s purpose?
As I elaborate on the theme, Equipping Saints for Ministry in the New Millennium , I will discuss
Paul s words in Ephesians 4 to illustrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We may not know our gifts when our time on Earth is ended; however, it does not mean that we
passively pray for God to show us without making the change. It is an honor as saints of God to have
the responsibilities to teach the Gospel to the world. Now that my ancestors, grandparents, and parents
have lived out their lives, it is my turn to carry the torch. Whether we know our gift or not, we must
continue living for God. As a result, false teachings and deceptive people cannot separate the unity of
God s Church on Earth nor shake our faith (Ephesians 4:13 14). We must mature to avoid destruction.
With God s help, our world can live in a new millennium where love, peace, compassion, and unity
eradicates hatred, violence, and division within our families, churches and

How Opponents to Gay Marriage Offer Illusory Arguments
How Opponent to Gay Marriage offer Illusory Arguments
The book The Invisible Gorilla: How Our Intuitions Deceive Us by Chabris and Simons truly makes a
strong case for how six different types of illusions (or beliefs) truly disserve the human population.
The six common illusions that the book discusses are the illusion of memory, the illusion of
confidence, the illusion of knowledge, the illusion of cause and the illusion of potential. Chabris and
Simon argue that one can see these illusions at work in a range of human interactions and current
events. Sometimes these illusions demonstrate the fallibility of the human mind; sometimes they just
demonstrate the need of human beings to impose meaning or order upon things or events which lack
both.
A current issue that demonstrates several of the six illusions that Chabris and Simons discuss is the
debate over gay marriage. Those who oppose gay marriage often demonstrate an argument which is
full of illusory and shoddy ideas. For example, one of the main arguments against gay marriage is that
allowing homosexuals to marry will destroy the institution of marriage. This demonstrates the illusion
of cause. The illusion of cause arises when we see patterns in randomness, and we are most likely to
see patterns when we think we understand what is causing them (Chabris Simons, p.155). The work of
Stanley Kurtz tried to prove that allowing same sex marriage in Denmark, Norway and Sweden
decreased the rate of heterosexual marriage

International Capitalism
Globalization may be an overused word, although the new version of international capitalism is still so
recent that the actual system on the ground has outrun the scientific and theoretical vocabulary that
describes it. As a system, international capitalism is rapidly eliminating geographical and political
boundaries, as Marx predicted in the 19th Century. In the global, postmodern economy, branding also
involves relentless synergy and tie ins between various diverse lines of products. Films and cartoons
market their images to toy companies, fast food restaurants and cereal manufacturers, generating
billions of dollars of revenue annually, as does the commerce in seeds, genetic materials and even
human body parts. Western science and technology have been synonymous with modernization and
development in India and other Asian nations, even though this paradigm ignores the historical and
cultural that has existed in many civilizations over the centuries.
In No Logo, Naomi Klein was highly critical of globalized capitalism and the consolidation of giant
corporations and highly standardized brands and chain stores like Wal Mart, the Gap and Starbucks.
All of these companies are not attempting to become that one overarching brand under which we
consume, make art, [and] even build our homes (Klein 1999, 2009, p. 130). Even the retail outlets are
completely uniform and clone like, with one Kinko s, Blockbuster or McDonald s looking basically
like any of the others. By 1998,

Framing Climate Change As An Issue Of Sustainable Development
Framing climate change as an issue of sustainable development also has positive impacts for the
governance of adaptation measures. It has been recognized that mitigation efforts have not sufficed to
stop or even minimize the damage of global warming, with experts agreeing that the INDCs will not
reach the intended reduction target of 2 degrees (International Energy Agency 2015). This has been
argued to be the result of a top down approach that centers on nation states making international
treaties concerning climate change (Harris 2012: 285). This is often unsuccessful because, not only do
states have competing interests, but this approach divorces the problem from important economic
issues (O Brien 2006: 3) However, the discourse of sustainable development recognizes that the
causes and effects of climate change are integral to all aspects of global society. This entails that
climate change policy is not only environmental but is also concerned with decisions concerning aid
lending, energy markets, and such decisions, are not only made by states but by corporate bodies, but
also by civil society and the everyday person (Bulkely and Newell 2010: 106).
There has been a clear lack of leadership and direction within the global community prioritizing
climate change. Transnational corporations, especially those concerning the energy sector, are huge
contributors to the problems associated with climate change. Yet these corporations are extremely
politically powerful, such

Essay 1 Elephant
Essay: Elephant by Polly Clark, 2006 A To choose your own future, destiny and life is very hard.
Everyone wants to do something that makes them happy. But sometimes you take the wrong decisions
or everything decides to go against you, which makes you stay in the box you were trying to escape
from. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for the light. It s not
always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to do something
productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is what you need the
most. Elephant is a short story written by Polly Clark in 2006. My focus point is William and his life,
which I will analyze and interpret. I will also discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clark l. 80 83 He keeps thinking about an elephant he got from his mother when he was little, after his
wife tells him that she will be home in twenty minutes, he gets a flashback to a time where he was
waiting for his mom in the same amount of time. And that s when he got the blue elephant5. The
elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his
mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in
him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. William gets a
switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving
to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with
the way his life is, because it wasn t the way he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with
his work, even though it sadness him that he feels as if his work is unwanted. Ken Follett s
introduction to the 1999 edition of The Pillars of the Earth can be used as an introduction to William s
life, because Nothing happens the way you plan it. 7 At the end of the story of the text Elephant,
Williams does realize that he actually can change his life, by involving his own past and experiences.

while learning about aspects of Mexican culture. Readers can learn about round, square, triangular,
rectangular, and star shaped objects all while being introduced to some Spanish words and Mexican
locations.
The book was okay, not bad but not amazing either. I can imagine that there are better books for
children that can better showcase aspects of Mexican culture. At one point in the book, the zócalo is
introduced, which is a plaza in Mexico City, Mexico. This was an interesting part, but the book does
not explain what the zócalo is, I found this out through looking up the word. Based on the zócalo

Dunstan Ramsay Fifth Business Quotes
Dunstan Ramsay is Fifth Business The novel Fifth Business by Robertson Davies is a fictional
autobiography of the narrator, Dunstan Ramsay. Dunstan outlines his life experiences and pays special
attention to saints and religion, both of which interest him. Although the story is about Dunstan, he
seems to have a supporting role in the lives of others. In this book, Dunstan Ramsay is referred to as:
Fifth Business because he is the one who knows the secret of the hero s birth, or comes to the
assistance of the heroine when she thinks all is lost, or keeps the hermitess in her cell, or may even be
the cause of somebody s death if that is part of the plot. (Davies, 227)
The Fifth Business is an important character in a story because they aid in completing a story. Dunstan
Ramsay is successfully portrayed as Fifth Business through accepting his role as the odd man out
while facilitating events in the lives of others (227). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hero in Fifth Business because he is the product of this incident that causes the rest of the story to

Essay on A Progressive Movement
A Progressive Movement
Much of a historian s job is to read what their colleagues have written on their subject of interest at the
moment. Often, they then go on to write their own opinions on the subject, thereby influencing the
historians of the future. The famed historian and teacher Richard Hofstadter wrote The Age of Reform
in 1955 about the late 19th century and early 20th century movement of Progressivism. In turn, other
historians that include Paula Baker, Richard McCormick, and Peter Filene have written their opinion
on what the movement we call Progressivism really was, and what its real significance is, or even if it
really existed as a movement in its own right. Richard Hofstadter s book The Age of Reform was ...

Filene defines a movement as a collectivity acting with some continuity to promote or resist a change
in the society...one can then analyze its internal characteristics along four dimensions: program, the
values which underlie this program, membership and supporters (20 21). Filene finds the program of a
social movement the most important part, for without a program the movement will be unable to
sustain itself. His most convincing point is that on so many issues, the Progressives, supposedly a
defined and cohesive movement, had numerous splits within their group. For example, The Federal
Reserve Act of 1913 created, according to Arthur Link, a conflict between uncompromising and
middle of the road progressives. The most convincing example concerns women s suffrage, a cause
that has generally been attributed to the progressive movement. However, as Filene points out,
progressive Presidents Roosevelt and Taft were unwilling to appease feminists with suffrage, and
stayed far from the idea for as long as possible. Indeed, if a list of 400 so called progressives is
carefully researched, it may be noted that they are divided almost exactly down the center for and
against a woman s right to vote (22 23). In this way, it is clear that

What Is Anime In America
The Sophistication of Anime In America
Japanese animation, called anime for short, landed its first major hit in America with an animation
called Astro Boy. This animation was black and white and was created just like any other animated
film would have been at that time, hand drawn and taken frame by frame. Now however, current
anime has surpassed its predecessors and is full of colorful characters and backgrounds that are
appealing to the eye. Anime has also grown beyond targeting children and is now more targeted
towards viewers with double digit ages and triple digit IQ s or young and old adults, as stated by
Patrick Drazen, author of the book Anime Explosion!: The What? Why? Wow! Of Japanese
Animation. Even so, people still consider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acting as a base manga paves a way for anime to flourish into society and also acts as a guide for an
anime s storyline. However, anime doesn t just depend on manga; manga also depends on anime.
Patrick Drazen, author of the book Anime Explosion! agrees with Chambers on the fact that many
Japanese anime begin life as comic books, and even goes on to say, This has several advantages,
including the goodwill and familiarity of an audience that already knows and cares about the
characters. It also enables the viewer who is familiar with the manga story to fill in the blanks as they
see the counterpart anime (Drazen). Chambers also approaches anime as a completely different subject
addressing how anime and manga are two completely different art forms. This view can be true with
new technologies emerging around the world, and the method of making hand drawn anime being
replaced by other methods such as CG (computer graphics). An article written by The Associated
Press details small interviews with people in Anaheim s Anime Expo, which is considered the largest
convention of anime and manga in American. Here, Oliver, an anime director from Los Angeles, states
that, CG is becoming increasingly less expensive to do, and mass produce (The Associated Press).
Also taking a stance on the difference between anime and manga The Associated Press addresses how
unlike hand drawn anime, CG features ultra realistic, fluid movements and seamless shadows and
light. With new methods replacing the old it is very viable to say that anime has deviated a small
portion from its original hand drawing method. In fact, this deviation is enhancing the features of new
anime and, is creating a more realistic and sophisticated animation

Lord Of The Flies Individual Vs Society Analysis
A frequent theme in literature is the conflict between the individual and society. In Lord of the Flies by
William Golding, Piggy struggles the most out of all the boys with the society on the island. He is not
used to surviving in the wilderness, hunting, and taking care of himself with no help from grown ups.
He attempts many times to change the violent island society to the orderly society they had back home
in England, but the others refuse listen.
Piggy is dedicated to the ideals of order and civilization. He seems to fit in least of all on the island.
When they first realize that they have crash landed on an island, Piggy can not believe that there are
no grown ups, and asks, Aren t there any grownups at all? (8). He relies on the ... Show more content

important to the story. He keeps people calm, tries to enforce rules, and uses his intelligence to help

choreographers have such inspirational backgrounds that enhance the emotions throughout their

were both American choreographers, their work was different for the most part but was similar at
some point. Martha Graham created a movement language based upon the expressive capacity of the

Satirical Comments in The Importance of Being Earnest by...
The class system during the Victorian Period played a significant role on people s lives. The class a
person belonged to played an important role in that individual s future. In Victorian England, class
diversity and class placement either hindered or enhanced people s lives. One work of literature that
comments on class distinctions in Victorian England is The Importance of Being Earnest , by Oscar
Wilde. In The Importance of Being Earnest , Wilde expresses the concern with the Victorian people
endeavoring to maintain an upper class reputation while hiding the reality of their lives. The Victorian
class system had an influential role on peoples lives. The Victorian class system was stringent was a

Gwendolen: Thank you. Detestable girl! But I require tea! Cecily: Sugar? Gwendolen: No, thank you.
Sugar is not fashionable any more. Cecily: Cake or bread and butter? Gwendolen: Bread and butter,
please. Cake is rarely seen at the best houses nowadays. Cecily: Hand that to Miss Fairfax. (Wilde 38)
Wilde s concern with Victorian s people trying to maintain an upper class stature is seen clearly in this
quote. Gwendolyn requests no sugar with her tea and just bread and butter. Her reasoning is that sugar
is not the norm anymore and cake is not at the best of the houses anymore. Gwendolyn is letting
society dictate what Gwendolyn is saying that all the things she offered aren t for an upper class lady
like herself. Usually a person chooses what they want by knowing which tastes better in their opinion.
These choices are important to Gwendolyn, even though they shouldn t, because Gwendolyn thinks
doing and requesting these things will make her appear of higher social status. People like Gwendolyn
think that to be apart of the upper class you need wealth and style which is short sighted. Wilde
expresses the concern of people trying to maintain a higher social status through Gwendolyn and her
reasoning on why she chooses what she wants. Oscar Wilde pokes fun at the concern with Victorian

Treatments For Schizophrenia And Its Effects On Society
Treatments for Schizophrenia
M. Arah Enoh
Southwestern Oklahoma State University
Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe brain disorder which causes people to have odd thoughts, disturbed
emotions and motor abnormalities (Carpenter, 2015). It is usually followed by psychosis,
disconnecting from reality. People sometimes hear thoughts; some may think others are plotting
against them. Even though individuals with schizophrenia have split personalities, it does not mean
they are violent or dangerous. Schizophrenic people do not make sense when they speak.
Approximately 1 of every 100 people in the world suffers from schizophrenia during his or her
lifetime (Lindenmayer Khan, 2012). An estimated 24 million people worldwide are afflicted with this
disorder, 2.5 million people in the United States (NIMH, 2015). This disorder tends to affect people in
the lower levels of the social economical classes. It is called having a downward drift by which having
schizophrenia can cause someone to function poorly and go from a high to low social economical
level. People with schizophrenia often rely on families and their environments for help them daily
with daily tasks (NIMH, 2015). Schizophrenia causes symptoms: positive, negative, and psychomotor.
Current treatments for schizophrenia are the second generation antipsychotic.
Causes and symptoms vary between individuals. The causes of schizophrenia are unknown, however

rapidly become prominent genres of music in today s culture. Beginning in the 1970 s at New York
City block parties, hip hop became a fan favorite as a radical new mix of upbeat funk and disco music.
Mixing and isolating the percussive breaks of funk songs, DJ Kool Herc, the founding father of hip
hop, began to use turntables to manipulate songs on records manually. These uptempo, catchy beats
became very popular throughout the 1980 s among the younger generation, especially in the United
States. The younger generation created their own branch of hip hop known as rap. Rappers speak

Unknown Salt Essay
The objective of the experiment was to identify the unknown salt that was given. The unknown salt
contained an anion and a cation labelled, 38A. A series of preliminary tests were first conducted in
order to help choose which confirmation tests should be used to identify the compound. The
preliminary tests included pH and solubility, and the behaviour of the salts with concentrated sulfuric
acid. The compound was found to have a slightly acidic pH, around 6.9 while being soluble in water.
The compound showed no change in properties after the addition of concentrated sulfuric acid. The
confirmation tests were then divided into two parts, one for the identification of the cation and the
other for the identification of the anion.

The observation of chemical behaviours under specific conditions allowed for the use of process of
elimination. Given the observations found in the materials and methods section and the data found in
the lab manual1 it was found that the anion was not acetate or carbonate, but rather a halide,
specifically Br due to the brown yellow hue of the organic layer. The observations for the cation test
along with the data from the lab manual1 showed that the unknown was from group II. Since the
flame test showed no observable difference this allowed for the conclusion that the cation was Mg2+.
For the anion, the most difficult test was the acetate test as the test was concentration dependent and it
also relied on colour as its identifier. This was difficult to achieve as the concentration was hard to
keep constant, and the colour was difficult to pinpoint. Possible solutions include getting access to a
Drypette TM, a manual powder pipette that would dispel a more accurate sample of salt. This would

Death And Tragedy Of Seaworld
Hurry up, come on down, and take a trip to one of Orlando, Florida s most famous theme parks,
SeaWorld! Grab your friends, family, kids and neighbors to peer in on SeaWorld s most prized
possession... Shamu, a spectacular look on an Orca whale s magnificence as you watch them fly, loop,
and dive through the air into the nearly oceanic waters... this is what they want you to think anyway.
Behind SeaWorld s thick, poorly patched walls, lies a blanket that cascades over all the dark lies and
secrets. A story of death and tragedy is told and soon, the truth unveils. Disease stricken and uncared
for, these orcas are drowning in tanks the size of bathtubs. They need their family, their pod, their
home the ocean. From improper dental care to malnutrition, the whales are not even fed correctly.
Even if SeaWorld increased the tank size, it would still not be enough. Just like us, orcas need to be
with their pods, or family, due to the psychological and physical attachment they have on them in
order to survive in the wild. Although SeaWorld s Shamu show has brought in over 2.5 billion dollars
into the entertainment industry, the orcas of the park should be set free due to the decrease of
psychological and physical health, resulting in a declination of the whale s average lifespan in
captivity.

Dr. Martha Bernal focused not only on younger children, but students ages 18 and up who were
looking at potential colleges. She conducted a study to show that the pictures and information
provided in school packet materials mailed to prospective students had a large impact on the
likelihood of them contacting the school for more information. The article titled Use of Application
Materials for Recruitment of Ethnic Minority Students in Psychology questioned on page 818 whether
these packets are equally effective in recruiting ethnic minority applicants (Bernal, Barron Leary,
1983) as they are in attracting white applicants. The hypothesis explored the idea that programs which
stated a higher proportion of ethnic minority grad students would be judged as having a higher chance
of recruiting ethnic minorities. Specifically, Dr. Martha Bernal explored how clinical psychology
programs in the United States displayed diversity within the packets mailed out to prospective
students.
The set up involved mailing out a letter to 107 programs offered across the US which were accredited
at the time, in which a fictitious student requested brochures and other materials about the clinical
program offered, as well as materials on the number of minorities within the program itself.
Interestingly, the fictitious girl named Ana Acres did not state her ethnicity or race, allowing the

After being promised a guide to the pyramids and a short travel period he was instead left alone and
without money. What had minutes beforehand seemed like a perfect way to his treasure was now only
an empty promise. Soon after, Santiago is forced to work for a crystal merchant in the hopes of
replacing his lost money and continuing on his quest. He works for the merchant for eleven months
and during this time, continues to think less and less of his Personal Legend. He becomes skilled in
this practice and begins to work towards instead, replacing his flock of sheep and returning to his past
lifestyle. During this time, Santiago perceived reaching the pyramids as an impossible feat claiming
Egypt was now just a distant dream for him and that, like a mirage, it would always be just out of his
reach (56). In this way, Coelho shows that Santiago s morale is lessening. The more that he stays at the
crystal shop, the more he sees his treasure as a mirage instead of a physical object. Not only can the
boy s journey be related to mirages, so to can his relationship with Fatima. He first meets her at the
oasis by the water well. They next day he returns and tells her that he loves her. From there he begins
to tell her of his life as a shepherd and his search for treasure. Fatima listens patiently for a month and
then finally tells Santiago her true feelings for him. She explains that she is a woman of the desert and

Christian Retirement Beliefs
1. After reading the introduction, my thoughts about my retirement began to flood my mind. I had
never really considered what the retirement ceremony would be like, who would be there or even who
would be the key note speaker. I am half way to my retirement and currently going through a life
struggle that I will only be able overcome with God s love.
I am hoping this study will bring me new Christian ideas regarding work and life. I need to learn how
to let go of the little things and let God be first in everything I do. My vision after doing this study is
having an understanding of the way God can integrate His divine plan in not only one s job but their
entire life. I need a total change in my life, so I am willing to accept the challenge and listen to God.
Believing in His word and staying committed to my goals are of the utmost importance. 2. The word
success means many different things to people. Being successful from a world perspective can mean
that you have made it to the top, you are wealthy and you have done everything that you have wanted
to do in your life. However, if you look at success from God s perspective things are very different. In
His plan success can mean learning to have a fruitful life with Him being the master, being blessed

Stealing Carol Ann Duffy Essay
In the poem Stealing by Carol Ann Duffy the speaker attempts to steal the intangible emotions of
others. The speaker does not steal for material gain, rather for emotional gain. The speaker is
ambiguous, (henceforth referred to as he ) and appears to be answering a question. In this dramatic
monologue Duffy explores violent and self destructive behavior in order to impart the speaker s
desolate attitude towards life.
Duffy uses abrupt, and violent language to communicate the discord in the speaker s life. my breath
ripped / out in rags (18 19) is a violent statement that is disjointed through enjambment; this technique
of ripping apart the sentences to different lines adds to the feeling of discontinuity in the speakers life.
This sense of discontinuity gives the reader a feeling of discontent. The self destructive tone is mixed
with a sneering attitude to create the impression of being an outcast. The Speaker seems to be ... Show

Psychopaths lack the ability to truly feel for others. He is an individualist, which is a common theme
of the Margaret Thatcher era. The speaker has an entitled outlook on life, Sometimes I steal things I

that Carol Ann Duffy is conveying the idea that his mind is frozen or not moving, stationary in its

Who Invented The Flour Industry
What did you have for breakfast this morning? Was it cereal or toast these items and many more
contain flour. Without the help of the flour industry you probably wouldn t of been able to eat those
items. The flour industry has been around for many years. It s a big part of history and still plays a
very important role. The flour industry started at least two hundred years ago. The flour industry is
still very important today.
The start of the flour industry was very small. However the reason the flour industry was very small
was that it was just the beginning of it, and many people did not know how profitable it would be.
Another reason it was so small was that many people did not know if it was going to be a waste of
money, because it was very expensive to pay for everything. In order to make this a successful
industry the flour industry would need many employees such as farmers, railroad workers, machinists
who tended to the large machines, barrel makers, packers who caught flour after it was poured off of
the assembly line. Without enough farmers selling wheat to the flour companies or them having
farmers that worked there they didn t have as much wheat to make the flour. Which meant for the flour
companies less flour was able to be made. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fracking Environmental Issues
Considering my major is environmental studies I have chosen to focus this week s journal entry on
threatening environmental issues. My first issue surrounds the water crisis in California and the
second I ll be focusing on the controversial issue of fracking.
The drought in California has presented some controversial and difficult issues for the residents of the
state. Due to the lack of rain and fresh water the state has began, with no regulation, pumping
irreplaceable groundwater to aid the drought. This is an out of sight crisis considering it is invisible in
the average persons life. Furthermore, as long as residents are continuing to have access to water in
their homes and work places the crisis is largely out of sight out of mind. However, ... Show more

Fracking is also referred as hydraulic fracturing in which rock is fractured by a pressurized liquid to
further create cracks and openings underground to extract more free flowing components such as
natural gas, petroleum, and brine. Millions of frac jobs have been performed on oil and gas wells
worldwide to further extract more shale gas, tight gas, tight oil and coral seam gas. This highly
controversial issue of greed and depletion of deeply bounded fossil fuels is extremely important. The
argumentative basis of this matter is between those whom benefit and have more readily available
accessible hydrocarbons and the people who are aware of the potential hazardous environmental
effects. Hydraulic fracturing greatly threatens the risk of ground and surface water contamination, air
pollution, noise pollution, and the consequential triggering of earth quakes and hazardous long term
effects that are unknown. This is highly controversial considering the industry that is already in power
of fossil fuel extraction is highly powerful and ran by both government powers and mass corporate
powers with much control on those who regulate. I am on the opposing side of the fossil greedy
powerful organizations who push for fracking and believe that there are surely alternative solutions. I
am personally interested in the issue of fracking because I know how important and vital clean ground
and surface water are for human survival and also because I am terrified of the technology mankind
has came to power over that in which threatens and potentially could trigger disasters that we have no
control over such as earthquakes and sinking of the land. There are many issues amongst my major
that I cold have focused on but I believe in this current day the largest problems surround the ever so
greedy and extreme measures mankind will take to have power over natural resources,

Umayyad vs Abbasid Dynasties
Umayyad vs. Abbasid Dynasties In the rise and spreading of the Islam religion, there were many
dynasties that were similar and different in their own way. The Umayyad and Abbasid Dynasties can
be compared: culturally, through religious tolerations and cultural blending; politically, through
bureaucracy and misuse of government powers; and economically, through trade and advancements of
technology. Culturally through religious toleration and cultural blending, the Umayyad and Abbasid

both dynasties. While both dynasties were reliant to trade and advancements in technology were also
important to the economy. Advances were made in irrigation and farming, using new technology such
as the windmill to create more crops in dry times in the Abbasid dynasty. Muslim engineers also
developed pumps, employed gears in mills and water raising machines, and used dams to provide
additional power to watermills and water raising machines. Such advances made it possible for many
industrial tasks that were previously driven by manual labor in ancient times to be mechanized and

ideas and benefitted from it significantly. As shown, the Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties can be

A. African Colonization Colonialism is defined in the dictionary as a policy by which a nation
maintains or extends its control over foreign dependencies. African colonization is one example.
Africa was oppressed by the European imperial powers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries
(Parker, 2007). Unlike in other parts of the world, African colonization was short lived and the
colonial period was over by the 1960s (Parker, 2007). The European scramble for territory at the end

authorities. Even though this generation grew up in a normal household with parents that interacted
with their daily lives, as time went on, things began to change. Individuals became more carefree and

Over a decade ago, A 1995 Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) survey of foreign
affiliated firms in Japan (at least one third foreign ownership), found that 65.4 percent reviewed their
business as successful while just 1 percent assessed their business as unsuccessful. More than 70
percent were planning to expand their business activities over the next five years within those
successful businesses in spite of the economic crisis. The main area of expansion was sales and
marketing activities. Eighty five percent of those companies that intended to expand their Japanese
operations said sales and marketing was the primary area targeted for expansion (Banerji Sambharya,
1996). This probably reflects an understanding that in the middle of the economic difficulties, Japan s
market revolution is still creating significant opportunities. Foreign firms are coming into Japan in
record numbers. For example, huge Western superstores are coming into Japan on the tail winds of the
deregulation of large retail stores. Toys R Us had a hard time to enter Japan in 1991, but by late 1997
was posting annual sales of 100 billion yen, with 10 percent of the market. It became the leading toy
retailer in Japan. Resistance from a group of 500 small stores, which formed the Association of Toy
Specialty Stores had not been able to stop this invasion, and its membership declined to just over fifty
stores six years after Toys R Us arrived (Delios, et al. 2007).

Arguments For Raising Minimum Wage
Many people experience working minimum wage jobs. Even I have undergone working the tedious,
hard working jobs in which I felt the work and responsibility did not reflect my pay: $7.25. Me, as a
teenager, thought it was hard to manage on the $7.25 minimum wage, but imagine someone who is
working full time and supporting a family on minimum wage it seems impossible. In The New York
Times article, The Case for a Higher Minimum Wage, The Editorial Board argues that the federal
minimum wage of $7.25 should be raised because it could help those who are in need, increase the
productivity of minimum wage employees, and help the American economy; however, conservatives
hinder the process. The Editorial Board makes a strong case to raise the minimum wage to help many
Americans by giving many statistics and facts, and counterarguments, which makes the argument
tenable and plausible. Within the article, many statistics and facts are given to show that the minimum
wage needs to be increased to help many Americans economically. One fact is that approximately 27.8
million people would have a higher wage if the Democratic proposition of raising the minimum wage
from $7.25 to $10.10 ( The Case for a Higher Minimum Wage ). With this fact given in the article, it
shows that a huge number of people could be impacted positivity if the minimum wage were to
increase in the United States. If 27.8 million people receive a high wage, it could change their whole
livelihoods and how they raise

Essay On Foster Care
Foster care systems have lots of flaws and problems. These flaws impact the children severely. Some
problems in foster care is abuse. Types of abuse that are inflicted on the children are mental, physical,

There are many types of foster care but only three will be named. Private fostering is one of them. It is
when a child under the age of 16, or under 18 if disabled, is cared by someone who is not their parent
or a close relative. This is often a private arrangement made between a parent and a carer for 28 days

Off Balance Research Paper
Fundamentals of an Off Balance When I first joined judo I never expected to learn so many things in
just a small timely manner. Within the first week I already learned how to do throws, takedowns, and
submissions which were the basic essentials to mastering judo. Judo explained in the English
dictionary means an unarmed combat intended to train the body and mind. The objective is to either
throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a
pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. As I continued on doing judo I could
not figure out how to successfully execute a throw during the opponent s brief moment of off balance ,
until one of my upper classmate taught me how to do it correctly because it all depended entirely on
timing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s a simple push, shove, or pull in a direction that will take the opponent off balance. In order to win,
the opponent must be thrown with control, force, and on their back. By either pushing, shoving, or
pulling an opponent off balance, the execution of the actual throw is made substantially easier since
they will be leaning in that direction. Think of an off balance in Judo like pushing someone forward
and quickly extending a foot out so that they trip and fall. This example shows how timing is
everything, extend the foot too late after the push and they won t trip, too early and they might just
stumble a bit. It s a crude example, but it shows the relationship between off balance and timing of the
execution. Much like how one must quickly extend a foot at the right moment, a Judoka has but a few
seconds to off balance and throw an opponent all in one continuous and fluid motion. The timing of
the throw during the off balance will determine if it is successful. Without the off balance, a throw is
conceivably possible yet substantially more difficult to pull

The Rise, Fall and Religion of the Inca Empire Essay
The Rise, Fall and Religion of the Inca Empire
The title Inca Empire was given by the Spanish to a Quechuan speaking Native American population
that established a vast empire in the Andes Mountains of South America shortly before its conquest by
Europeans. The ancestral roots of this empire began in the Cuzco valley of highland Peru around 1100
AD. The empire was relatively small until the imperialistic rule of emperor Pachacuti around 1438.
Pachacuti began a systematic conquest of the surrounding cultures, eventually engulfing over a
hundred different Indian nations within a 30 year period. This conquest gave rise to an empire that, at
its zenith in the early 16th century; consisted of an estimated 10 million subjects living ... Show more

He accomplished this by ambushing and capturing the Inca ruler Atahualpa. Pizarro invited Atahualpa
to a peaceful gathering , but when Atahualpa arrived, he was captured, imprisoned and ransomed.
Atahualpa s ransom was paid by the Inca empire with what would be equivalent to 50 million dollars
worth of gold today, or, better stated by Pizarro, as enough gold to fill a room . Unfortunately, this
ransom was paid to no avail; in 1533 the Spaniards strangled and beheaded Atahualpa. The Spaniards
extended their control over Inca territory in the following years. In 1572 they overwhelmed the last of
the Inca forces and captured the last emperor, Túpac Amaru. In beheading him, they ended the Inca
dynasty.
The conquerors introduced the encomienda system, which put Native Americans to work at forced
labor on great agricultural estates. Thousands died of European diseases and many others fled the land
of their ancestors, causing the population to drop rapidly. Today about 8 million descendants of the
Incas inhabit the lands of the former empire, speaking the Quechuan language and following many of
the ancient Inca beliefs and customs.
The Inca religious system was based on the worship of multiple deities. The supreme god was the
creator god, Viracocha. The Incas also worshiped the sun god, Inti, from whom the royal family was
believed to have descended. Additionally, a number of other nature gods were

  • 2. Peaceful Protest Protests throughout history have sparked controversy in both their subject matter and execution, calling into question the true value they impart. Peaceful resistance is a key element in the development of a free society as it facilitates a wide breadth of actions from the raising of awareness and the greater dissemination of ideas all the way to active change in laws and government. Wide dissemination of ideas and changes to the law were products of the gay rights movement. In the 1960 s gay rights were practically nonexistent. The government was unconcerned with protecting the physical safety of gay people as evidenced by violence against the gay community which went completely unpunished. The government and law enforcement did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Questions about what should be protected under free speech have arisen, causing this country to question how far free speech should truly extend, some arguing that certain speech or protest works to harm society, not advance it. In 1977 members of the Nazi Party of America announced their intention to walk through Skokie, Illinois in Nazi regalia carrying swastikas. Skokie, a majority Jewish community and the home to many Holocaust survivors, erupted in anger as the residents attempted to stop the Nazis from marching. Residents of Skokie and sympathizers across the country argued that the protest aimed to incite hate against a particular religious group and inflict emotional harm. Many agreed with this point of view but the ACLU stepped in to protect the rights of the Nazi Party and their rights to free speech as protected by the 1st Amendment. The ACLU and the Nazis were successful and they retained their right to march wherever they wanted and say whatever they pleased. Although their speech was undoubtedly hateful and hurtful they still had the right to share their ideas. (Bekiempis) In response to the march residents of Skokie decided to open a Holocaust memorial museum in order to combat hatred with education. (Stone) The ultimate goal of any peaceful resistance is to spread ideas and influence the minds of the population. In the case of Skokie the march illuminated a problem in society the prevalence of excessive anti semitism. This realization informed many of the need for more Holocaust education, leading to the improvement of society. Even when a protest or peaceful resistance appears harmful or detrimental to a society, in the end the society is better off allowing it to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ephesians 4 Throughout human history, our ancestors lived out the Christian faith in their generation. As a result, the faith passed down into their children s generations, continuously reaching today s generation. Then, our society changed from a primitive society to a modern society. With the invention of technology, it creates a new direction towards spreading the Gospel. While our ancestors spoke and wrote Gospel in church, my generation use technology to share the Gospel on social media and Bible apps. With the different styles of preaching the Gospel, how can we unite our generations to pursuit God s purpose? As I elaborate on the theme, Equipping Saints for Ministry in the New Millennium , I will discuss Paul s words in Ephesians 4 to illustrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We may not know our gifts when our time on Earth is ended; however, it does not mean that we passively pray for God to show us without making the change. It is an honor as saints of God to have the responsibilities to teach the Gospel to the world. Now that my ancestors, grandparents, and parents have lived out their lives, it is my turn to carry the torch. Whether we know our gift or not, we must continue living for God. As a result, false teachings and deceptive people cannot separate the unity of God s Church on Earth nor shake our faith (Ephesians 4:13 14). We must mature to avoid destruction. With God s help, our world can live in a new millennium where love, peace, compassion, and unity eradicates hatred, violence, and division within our families, churches and ... • 4. How Opponents to Gay Marriage Offer Illusory Arguments How Opponent to Gay Marriage offer Illusory Arguments The book The Invisible Gorilla: How Our Intuitions Deceive Us by Chabris and Simons truly makes a strong case for how six different types of illusions (or beliefs) truly disserve the human population. The six common illusions that the book discusses are the illusion of memory, the illusion of confidence, the illusion of knowledge, the illusion of cause and the illusion of potential. Chabris and Simon argue that one can see these illusions at work in a range of human interactions and current events. Sometimes these illusions demonstrate the fallibility of the human mind; sometimes they just demonstrate the need of human beings to impose meaning or order upon things or events which lack both. A current issue that demonstrates several of the six illusions that Chabris and Simons discuss is the debate over gay marriage. Those who oppose gay marriage often demonstrate an argument which is full of illusory and shoddy ideas. For example, one of the main arguments against gay marriage is that allowing homosexuals to marry will destroy the institution of marriage. This demonstrates the illusion of cause. The illusion of cause arises when we see patterns in randomness, and we are most likely to see patterns when we think we understand what is causing them (Chabris Simons, p.155). The work of Stanley Kurtz tried to prove that allowing same sex marriage in Denmark, Norway and Sweden decreased the rate of heterosexual marriage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. International Capitalism Globalization may be an overused word, although the new version of international capitalism is still so recent that the actual system on the ground has outrun the scientific and theoretical vocabulary that describes it. As a system, international capitalism is rapidly eliminating geographical and political boundaries, as Marx predicted in the 19th Century. In the global, postmodern economy, branding also involves relentless synergy and tie ins between various diverse lines of products. Films and cartoons market their images to toy companies, fast food restaurants and cereal manufacturers, generating billions of dollars of revenue annually, as does the commerce in seeds, genetic materials and even human body parts. Western science and technology have been synonymous with modernization and development in India and other Asian nations, even though this paradigm ignores the historical and cultural that has existed in many civilizations over the centuries. In No Logo, Naomi Klein was highly critical of globalized capitalism and the consolidation of giant corporations and highly standardized brands and chain stores like Wal Mart, the Gap and Starbucks. All of these companies are not attempting to become that one overarching brand under which we consume, make art, [and] even build our homes (Klein 1999, 2009, p. 130). Even the retail outlets are completely uniform and clone like, with one Kinko s, Blockbuster or McDonald s looking basically like any of the others. By 1998, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Framing Climate Change As An Issue Of Sustainable Development Framing climate change as an issue of sustainable development also has positive impacts for the governance of adaptation measures. It has been recognized that mitigation efforts have not sufficed to stop or even minimize the damage of global warming, with experts agreeing that the INDCs will not reach the intended reduction target of 2 degrees (International Energy Agency 2015). This has been argued to be the result of a top down approach that centers on nation states making international treaties concerning climate change (Harris 2012: 285). This is often unsuccessful because, not only do states have competing interests, but this approach divorces the problem from important economic issues (O Brien 2006: 3) However, the discourse of sustainable development recognizes that the causes and effects of climate change are integral to all aspects of global society. This entails that climate change policy is not only environmental but is also concerned with decisions concerning aid lending, energy markets, and such decisions, are not only made by states but by corporate bodies, but also by civil society and the everyday person (Bulkely and Newell 2010: 106). There has been a clear lack of leadership and direction within the global community prioritizing climate change. Transnational corporations, especially those concerning the energy sector, are huge contributors to the problems associated with climate change. Yet these corporations are extremely politically powerful, such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Essay 1 Elephant Essay: Elephant by Polly Clark, 2006 A To choose your own future, destiny and life is very hard. Everyone wants to do something that makes them happy. But sometimes you take the wrong decisions or everything decides to go against you, which makes you stay in the box you were trying to escape from. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for the light. It s not always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to do something productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is what you need the most. Elephant is a short story written by Polly Clark in 2006. My focus point is William and his life, which I will analyze and interpret. I will also discuss the ... And that s when he got the blue elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. William gets a switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with the way his life is, because it wasn t the way he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with his work, even though it sadness him that he feels as if his work is unwanted. Ken Follett s introduction to the 1999 edition of The Pillars of the Earth can be used as an introduction to William s life, because Nothing happens the way you plan it. 7 At the end of the story of the text Elephant, Williams does realize that he actually can change his life, by involving his own past and experiences. Mexican Culture In Roseanne Greenfield Thong s Round Roseanne Greenfield Thong s Round is a Tortilla allows readers to learn about different shapes all while learning about aspects of Mexican culture. Readers can learn about round, square, triangular, rectangular, and star shaped objects all while being introduced to some Spanish words and Mexican locations. The book was okay, not bad but not amazing either. I can imagine that there are better books for children that can better showcase aspects of Mexican culture. At one point in the book, the zócalo is introduced, which is a plaza in Mexico City, Mexico. This was an interesting part, but the book does not explain what the zócalo is, I found this out through looking up the word. Based on the zócalo being in Mexico City, I assumed the entire ... • 9. Dunstan Ramsay Fifth Business Quotes Dunstan Ramsay is Fifth Business The novel Fifth Business by Robertson Davies is a fictional autobiography of the narrator, Dunstan Ramsay. Dunstan outlines his life experiences and pays special attention to saints and religion, both of which interest him. Although the story is about Dunstan, he seems to have a supporting role in the lives of others. In this book, Dunstan Ramsay is referred to as: Fifth Business because he is the one who knows the secret of the hero s birth, or comes to the assistance of the heroine when she thinks all is lost, or keeps the hermitess in her cell, or may even be the cause of somebody s death if that is part of the plot. (Davies, 227) The Fifth Business is an important character in a story because they aid in completing a story. Dunstan Ramsay is successfully portrayed as Fifth Business through accepting his role as the odd man out while facilitating events in the lives of others (227). ... • 10. Essay on A Progressive Movement A Progressive Movement Much of a historian s job is to read what their colleagues have written on their subject of interest at the moment. Often, they then go on to write their own opinions on the subject, thereby influencing the historians of the future. The famed historian and teacher Richard Hofstadter wrote The Age of Reform in 1955 about the late 19th century and early 20th century movement of Progressivism. In turn, other historians that include Paula Baker, Richard McCormick, and Peter Filene have written their opinion on what the movement we call Progressivism really was, and what its real significance is, or even if it really existed as a movement in its own right. Richard Hofstadter s book The Age of Reform was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Filene defines a movement as a collectivity acting with some continuity to promote or resist a change in the society...one can then analyze its internal characteristics along four dimensions: program, the values which underlie this program, membership and supporters (20 21). Filene finds the program of a social movement the most important part, for without a program the movement will be unable to sustain itself. His most convincing point is that on so many issues, the Progressives, supposedly a defined and cohesive movement, had numerous splits within their group. For example, The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 created, according to Arthur Link, a conflict between uncompromising and middle of the road progressives. The most convincing example concerns women s suffrage, a cause that has generally been attributed to the progressive movement. However, as Filene points out, progressive Presidents Roosevelt and Taft were unwilling to appease feminists with suffrage, and stayed far from the idea for as long as possible. Indeed, if a list of 400 so called progressives is carefully researched, it may be noted that they are divided almost exactly down the center for and against a woman s right to vote (22 23). In this way, it is clear that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. What Is Anime In America The Sophistication of Anime In America Japanese animation, called anime for short, landed its first major hit in America with an animation called Astro Boy. This animation was black and white and was created just like any other animated film would have been at that time, hand drawn and taken frame by frame. Now however, current anime has surpassed its predecessors and is full of colorful characters and backgrounds that are appealing to the eye. Anime has also grown beyond targeting children and is now more targeted towards viewers with double digit ages and triple digit IQ s or young and old adults, as stated by Patrick Drazen, author of the book Anime Explosion!: The What? Why? Wow! Of Japanese Animation. Even so, people still consider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Acting as a base manga paves a way for anime to flourish into society and also acts as a guide for an anime s storyline. However, anime doesn t just depend on manga; manga also depends on anime. Patrick Drazen, author of the book Anime Explosion! agrees with Chambers on the fact that many Japanese anime begin life as comic books, and even goes on to say, This has several advantages, including the goodwill and familiarity of an audience that already knows and cares about the characters. It also enables the viewer who is familiar with the manga story to fill in the blanks as they see the counterpart anime (Drazen). Chambers also approaches anime as a completely different subject addressing how anime and manga are two completely different art forms. This view can be true with new technologies emerging around the world, and the method of making hand drawn anime being replaced by other methods such as CG (computer graphics). An article written by The Associated Press details small interviews with people in Anaheim s Anime Expo, which is considered the largest convention of anime and manga in American. Here, Oliver, an anime director from Los Angeles, states that, CG is becoming increasingly less expensive to do, and mass produce (The Associated Press). Also taking a stance on the difference between anime and manga The Associated Press addresses how unlike hand drawn anime, CG features ultra realistic, fluid movements and seamless shadows and light. With new methods replacing the old it is very viable to say that anime has deviated a small portion from its original hand drawing method. In fact, this deviation is enhancing the features of new anime and, is creating a more realistic and sophisticated animation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Piggy struggles the most out of all the boys with the society on the island. He attempts many times to change the violent island society to the orderly society they had back home in England, but the others refuse listen. Piggy is dedicated to the ideals of order and civilization. He seems to fit in least of all on the island. The compound was found to have a slightly acidic pH, around 6.9 while being soluble in water. The compound showed no change in properties after the addition of concentrated sulfuric acid. The article titled Use of Application Materials for Recruitment of Ethnic Minority Students in Psychology questioned on page 818 whether these packets are equally effective in recruiting ethnic minority applicants (Bernal, Barron Leary, 1983) as they are in attracting white applicants. The hypothesis explored the idea that programs which stated a higher proportion of ethnic minority grad students would be judged as having a higher chance of recruiting ethnic minorities. Specifically, Dr. Martha Bernal explored how clinical psychology programs in the United States displayed diversity within the packets mailed out to prospective students. The set up involved mailing out a letter to 107 programs offered across the US which were accredited at the time, in which a fictitious student requested brochures and other materials about the clinical program offered, as well as materials on the number of minorities within the program itself. This highly controversial issue of greed and depletion of deeply bounded fossil fuels is extremely important. Hydraulic fracturing greatly threatens the risk of ground and surface water contamination, air pollution, noise pollution, and the consequential triggering of earth quakes and hazardous long term effects that are unknown. Foreign firms are coming into Japan in record numbers. For example, huge Western superstores are coming into Japan on the tail winds of the deregulation of large retail stores. Toys R Us had a hard time to enter Japan in 1991, but by late 1997 was posting annual sales of 100 billion yen, with 10 percent of the market. It became the leading toy retailer in Japan. Resistance from a group of 500 small stores, which formed the Association of Toy Specialty Stores had not been able to stop this invasion, and its membership declined to just over fifty stores six years after Toys R Us arrived (Delios, et al. 2007). ... • 33. Arguments For Raising Minimum Wage Many people experience working minimum wage jobs. Even I have undergone working the tedious, hard working jobs in which I felt the work and responsibility did not reflect my pay: $7.25. Me, as a teenager, thought it was hard to manage on the $7.25 minimum wage, but imagine someone who is working full time and supporting a family on minimum wage it seems impossible. In The New York Times article, The Case for a Higher Minimum Wage, The Editorial Board argues that the federal minimum wage of $7.25 should be raised because it could help those who are in need, increase the productivity of minimum wage employees, and help the American economy; however, conservatives hinder the process. The Editorial Board makes a strong case to raise the minimum wage to help many Americans by giving many statistics and facts, and counterarguments, which makes the argument tenable and plausible. Within the article, many statistics and facts are given to show that the minimum wage needs to be increased to help many Americans economically. One fact is that approximately 27.8 million people would have a higher wage if the Democratic proposition of raising the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 ( The Case for a Higher Minimum Wage ). With this fact given in the article, it shows that a huge number of people could be impacted positivity if the minimum wage were to increase in the United States. If 27.8 million people receive a high wage, it could change their whole livelihoods and how they raise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Matt Fitzpatrick Case Study It s finally over. The contract battle between the New York Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick has finally come to an end, as both parties agreed on a one year, $12 million deal this week. The signing should bring Jets fans to their feet in joy, knowing they don t have to sit through another year of disappointment with Geno Smith behind center. Aside Jets fans, the deal will also bring excitement for fantasy football owners around the world. With Fitzpatrick bringing his big, manly beard back to New York for at least one more season, what fantasy expectations should we have for the Jets offensive weapons in 2016? Running Back: Matt Forte Matt Forte will enter the 2016 17 NFL season at age 30. In Forte s eight seasons in the league, he has only missed eight games, while he has never had less than 255 touches in a season. He has also never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Save yourself the worry and find another tight end. Quarterback: Ryan Fitzpatrick Fitzpatrick ended the 2015 16 season with career highs in passing yards (3,905) and touchdowns (31). What should we expect from Fitzpatrick in 2016? For fantasy football purposes, I would expect him to be a good bye week fill in. Fitzpatrick has never been consistent enough to be an every week starter, but he ll give you solid weeks here and there. His stats should generally stay the same and if anything, his interceptions could go up because he s a bit of a gunslinger. According to FantasyPros.com, Fitzpatrick finished as the 11th best quarterback in fantasy last season, which did make him a QB1. Yet, there are younger players ready to make the jump into QB1 territory (Jameis Winston, Tyrod Taylor). Fitzpatrick shouldn t be relied on as your every week starter, but more of a streaming option or injury fill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Off Balance Research Paper Fundamentals of an Off Balance When I first joined judo I never expected to learn so many things in just a small timely manner. Within the first week I already learned how to do throws, takedowns, and submissions which were the basic essentials to mastering judo. Judo explained in the English dictionary means an unarmed combat intended to train the body and mind. The objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. As I continued on doing judo I could not figure out how to successfully execute a throw during the opponent s brief moment of off balance , until one of my upper classmate taught me how to do it correctly because it all depended entirely on timing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s a simple push, shove, or pull in a direction that will take the opponent off balance. In order to win, the opponent must be thrown with control, force, and on their back. By either pushing, shoving, or pulling an opponent off balance, the execution of the actual throw is made substantially easier since they will be leaning in that direction. Think of an off balance in Judo like pushing someone forward and quickly extending a foot out so that they trip and fall. This example shows how timing is everything, extend the foot too late after the push and they won t trip, too early and they might just stumble a bit. It s a crude example, but it shows the relationship between off balance and timing of the execution. Much like how one must quickly extend a foot at the right moment, a Judoka has but a few seconds to off balance and throw an opponent all in one continuous and fluid motion. The timing of the throw during the off balance will determine if it is successful. Without the off balance, a throw is conceivably possible yet substantially more difficult to pull ... • 37. The Rise, Fall and Religion of the Inca Empire Essay The Rise, Fall and Religion of the Inca Empire The title Inca Empire was given by the Spanish to a Quechuan speaking Native American population that established a vast empire in the Andes Mountains of South America shortly before its conquest by Europeans. The ancestral roots of this empire began in the Cuzco valley of highland Peru around 1100 AD. The empire was relatively small until the imperialistic rule of emperor Pachacuti around 1438. Pachacuti began a systematic conquest of the surrounding cultures, eventually engulfing over a hundred different Indian nations within a 30 year period. This conquest gave rise to an empire that, at its zenith in the early 16th century; consisted of an estimated 10 million subjects living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He accomplished this by ambushing and capturing the Inca ruler Atahualpa. Pizarro invited Atahualpa to a peaceful gathering , but when Atahualpa arrived, he was captured, imprisoned and ransomed. Atahualpa s ransom was paid by the Inca empire with what would be equivalent to 50 million dollars worth of gold today, or, better stated by Pizarro, as enough gold to fill a room . Unfortunately, this ransom was paid to no avail; in 1533 the Spaniards strangled and beheaded Atahualpa. The Spaniards extended their control over Inca territory in the following years. In 1572 they overwhelmed the last of the Inca forces and captured the last emperor, Túpac Amaru. In beheading him, they ended the Inca dynasty. The conquerors introduced the encomienda system, which put Native Americans to work at forced labor on great agricultural estates. Thousands died of European diseases and many others fled the land of their ancestors, causing the population to drop rapidly. Today about 8 million descendants of the Incas inhabit the lands of the former empire, speaking the Quechuan language and following many of the ancient Inca beliefs and customs. The Inca religious system was based on the worship of multiple deities. The supreme god was the creator god, Viracocha. The Incas also worshiped the sun god, Inti, from whom the royal family was believed to have descended. Additionally, a number of other nature gods were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
